Lack of drive DVD Vista - Oh, no it's not!

I failed to find a similar question already answered that fits my particular set of circumstances.

I just lost my CD/DVD on my Sony Vaio laptop equipped player of Vista 32 bit SP2.

It does not appear in Windows Explorer, but it appears in the device as Manager works correctly.  He also appears in the management of the computer as drive G, which is what it was before, and even the name of the volume of the CD that is loaded is displayed correctly.

It plays BluRay and movies on standard DVD and music CD discs in Media Player.  However, it does not seem to read data disks, (although the volume name is indicated in CM as I said) and is not available in Explorer.

I removed upper and lower filters in the registry, removed the drive and cleaned the contacts and uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers.

I have a feeling that if it were possible to establish why its drive letter does not appear in the Solution Explorer, then all problems would be solved.

Any ideas please?

PS. I also realized that my two disks of built-in removable storage, E and F are missing in Explorer Windows even if they are reported as working properly in Device Manager and have their correct drive letters in computer management.  When I insert a memory card in one of them, the management of the computer recognizes his presence.  My readers HD (C and D) work fine in Explorer.  Oh, and autoplay (or autorun) no longer works when I insert a CD or a memory card.

(When I talk about the drive letter, I mean that the disk is missing, not only the letter).

I HAVE IT SOLVED!  (And it was simple - it's not always the way?)

I have Tweak VI installed, and for some reason any he had deselected the three discs that I had lost.  I don't know how it happened but when I ran earlier, I found that in the utility 'Hide the Explorer disk drives', only hard drives have been checked and all other checkboxes disc were empty.  I checked those I've been away, restarted the computer and they were there.  Same AutoPlay works fine now.

I hope it's useful to someone else with the same problem.

    Hello

WHERE´s the problem. Uninstall the current version installed, and then reinstall the Toshiba HD-DVD player. It would be best if you look at the [Download Driver Toshiba Site | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp] updates to this program.

If this is not enough, all your backup files and perform a full system recovery, which should really help.

  • New hard drive installed Vista Ultimate, now I can not install my printer - why?

Computer Dell laptop hard drive replaced (warranty) with Vista Ultimate, I installed Office 2007 Professional disc 1 fine, windows update is fine, but I cannot complete the installation for my Kodak printer disc. Has been given the Internet to install via the internet address - link doesn't work either - drive flashing green bar "installation preparation" then nothing? Link Web shows 'Preparing to install' with a full bar green - then stuck there. A few minutes later, he disappears. Never installed. Do not open the drive or cross the bar - never open the Green window to install. Support Kodak decided that I was missing the .net on pre-installed OS HDD framework files. Enough of 3.45 and 4. Is this correct? Do I need previous versions, or something else is the cause. How can I check to see that all the files are correct and understand WHY I can not INSTALL MY PRINTER?

Until the hard disk, memory & the keyboard have been replaced by the Dell tech, I had installed and printed on this Kodak printer for 9-12 months. Suggestions welcome.

    Hello

There is a big problem with my A300D-17Z.

The laptop has ATI HD3470 Hybrid Crossfire display system. I'm trying to install the driver in Vista Ultimate, but it does not work. The ATI Catalyst control cannot install and ATI driver file is empty. Shows Device Manager still there are two graphics card with «!» I tried so many ways. Install framework 3.5, pilot of the AMD 7 series, last version of the ATI driver, driver of the same other computer brand who says that worked.

Please help me, I had been tormented for nearly 48 hours. PLEASE, I BEG YOU!

    Hello!

Have you tried to install the driver to display on the Toshiba site? You can find it here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Before you try to install a new display driver, you must remove any old version in Add/Remove programs. Then, restart the laptop and use CCleaner to clean the system. Restart again and then install the new version.

You have the same problem with the factory settings? In the worst case, you must reinstall Windows using Toshiba recovery disc.

Sorry, but I didn t find the CD/DVD drivers. or for Vista 64-bit, 32-bit or XP.
Could you please tell me this driver?
Perhaps you are which means the DVD player?

Anyway, the fact is that there are drivers for CD/DVD don t players. Microsoft operating systems (Vista, XP) are already equipped with these drivers and generally you n t need to install third-party drivers 3rd! The STRANGE should be recognized automatically by one of the OS.

PS: To my knowledge, this is a user forum and I don t think you can find someone from Toshiba here anyway, the XP is certainly supported by Toshiba because the XP drivers are available on the page of the driver. So I see no serious reasons why XP should t be supported. You know

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)

    correctly.

Used speed, the actual brand of discs, burning and if file Live or mastered all come into

  • Installation of Vista on the new hard drive was interrupted, and now I can not start the computer

So I decided that I need a bigger hard drive. I got a 500 GB hard drive, so I have it PLOPPED in my Acer Aspire 5517 with my vista boot drive, turned on and began to go through the process. Once he got to the phase 'installation complete' it seems to take a while, so I let it run all night. Once I got up, it was on a black screen with the mouse, I let stand a few more minutes but still nothing. I turned off and started it expects to find to return at the beginning of the installation, but instead he began to start from what is on the hard drive at this time. It got to the screen with the loading bar and the sign 'Microsoft Corporation'. The loading bar was very frigidity and stopped and started randomly. I let it do this while I went to school, but when I got home, it was always the same loading screen. I rebooted and tried to start in safe mode, but when I do it it stops at crcdisk.sys, and never forwarded charges. I tried to do the reset thing factory start it but that doesn't seem to work. My other puny hard drive still works, but the other does not. I searched the internet but have not seen any other problem like it. I want to just start completely clean of my new 500 GB. Please help!

    Hi James,

    1. What is the number of brand and model of the hard disk of 500 GB?

    2. How did the 500 GB hard drive connected to the computer? It is external or internal?

To troubleshoot the unable to start the issue to cause corrupted driver, some files that can not be loaded during the startup process must be fixed or restored. So, let's check the disk by using the Windows Recovery Console.

    (a) put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

    (b) press a key when the message "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD ".

    (c) select a language, a time, a currency and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next.

    (d) click on repair your computer.

    (e) (click on the operating system you want to repair), and then click Next.

    (f) in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt. Type chkdsk c:/f to try to correct the errors.

    (g) Note: answer them when chkdsk asks you if you want to check the disk next boot Vista

    (h) after the recording of the disc, and then run sfc/scannow to check the corruption of system files.

Important: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

Check out TechNet help links and check if that helps:

The computer starts stops at crcdisk.sys

    Help! Vista won't start... (crcdisk.sys)

Let us know the status of the issue. If you need help, please after return. We will be happy to help you.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

    ===========================================

This troubleshooting could not help if there is alignment and/or wear issues however it
    a shot.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

    do it right.

Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)
nothing change) - find the DevManView device and then make a right click on it free in RegEdit.

DevManView - free - an alternative to the standard Windows Device Manager, which displays all the

  • I need to format the hard drive but don't have the windows vista disc to reinstall, but have had the key code that vista was preinstalled do I have to buy a new drive for vista

I need to format the hard drive but don't have the windows vista disc to reinstall, but have had the key code that vista was preinstalled do I have to buy a new drive for vista

    Hello

    How to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed
