  • Optical drive went lack of Vista SP1 based computer laptop HP

    Hello

I have Pavilion dv6000 laptop. I see that the optical drive lightscribe is missing from 'my computer' as well as Device Manager. I deleted iTunes, upperfilters/down filters, re-allocation of places the disk and no troubleshooting as indicated on the site Web of Gear Software. Still, it does not work. I checked with Phoenix BIOS, it's the nit that are listed there.

During power I see that the drive is powered on and the flashing of the LED. If I insert a media start-up LED flashes but media does not turn.

Like that, I spent 8 days. After that all of a sudden it is detected. I inserted the CD and started the disk check. Everything went well. Once I try to insert Vista DVD icon disappeared again in Win Explorer.

Still the same problem. During each boot, the event handler accumulate with the error:

"The next (s) starting or starting system could not load: cdrom.

I also saw another error - something like this "... embedded controller. BIOS... Firmare' please me excuse I know more exactly. But he came to know that it is caused by the network controller... ACPI / sleep... etc... things like that

Configuration: nVidia 7150M GPU, 1 GB of RAM, AMD Turion X 2 clocked at 1.8 GHz.

Is - this disc is faulty / defective disk controller / defective drivers?

Please help me. My warranty has expired also.

  • Equium L350 - optical drive problem

I have a beautiful Equium L350 which I use for very basic tasks such as e-mail and internet shopping.
I'm an absolute fool when it's nothing technical, even remotely.

However, I bought this laptop in May last of PC World, Cardiff and were very happy until a few weeks ago when I went to use the 'optical driver' (thing stick you a disc in?) for the first time.
My daughter had a Barbie MP3 player for her birthday and I was trying to download all the relevant stuff from the disk, and nothing happened.
I don't know from reading this that you can see how hopeless, I am!

I have assumed that I was doing something wrong, until a colleague told me that he had the same problem with their Toshiba last year and there was a problem with the optical driver.
In any case, for 3 weeks, I have been ringing Toshiba trying to get some help.
I'm losing the will to live!

I'm put on hold each one each time for more than 20 minutes at a time.
I haven't talked to anyone! I sent (no reply!) and PC World have been just as useless as telling me that I need to contact Toshiba direct.

Did anyone have a number for them to the United Kingdom for service / warranty repairs / help of any kind! I love the machine, but the lack of customer service is soul destroying! I would be so grateful for any kind of comments!

Thank you ever much for taking the trouble to read this :)

    Hi Sarah

May I ask what's exactly wrong with your laptop?

You said something about Barbie Mp3 player.
How to connect to the laptop and what do you do with this 3rd party device?

You want to put some mp3 files to this player?

Sorry, but I don t understand you the problem and I can't see any link between a drive optical (I think that you are which means that the CD/DVD drive) and Barbie mp3 player

    By the way:
If there is something wrong with the hardware you need to always contact the ASP in your country.

    Notes:

The DVD player is NOT appear in Device Manager, OR in this PC.

The DVD drive is NOT detected by diagnostics system UEFI.

There is reference to the DVD in BIOS drive NUMBER , other than as an option of Setup, which is generic.

The DVD player itself, works and has been verified on a different machine.

The only possible conclusion is that the optical drive port mini-SATA on the motherboard is dead.

  • Need help to install Windows 8.1 on the partition, bootcamp on Macbook Pro 15 "mid-2010 w / no optical drive"

I tried for almost a week in all possible ways to get windows installed on a boot camp partition on my main SSD 1 TB drive as a partition, or on my HARD drive, which is installed in place of the optical drive.  So far, everything I tried to give me some sort of error at some point in the process.  It seems that many of them are case by case, so I thought that I invite you all and see if you can help!

I use a Macbook Pro 15 "mid-2010 that I improved with a 1 TB SSD drive as the startup disk.  My optical drive was not functional, so I moved my old 500 GB HARD drive to the location of the optical Bay.  I am also under the latest version of El Capitan (10.11.6)
    Here are my system specs:

    Presentation of the material:

    Model name: MacBook Pro

    Model identifier: MacBookPro6, 2

    Processor name: Intel Core i7

    Processor speed: 2.8 GHz

    Number of processors: 1

    Total number of cores: 2

(By heart) L2 Cache: 256 KB

    L3 Cache: 4 MB

    Memory: 8 GB

Processor speed of interconnection: 4.8 GT/s

    Boot ROM version: MBP61.0057.B11

Version of the SCM (System): 1.58f17

What I tried (from what I remember):

I tried to change the Bootcamp info.plist file for my version of the macbook pro to use a USB stick for the installer.  It seems to have installed correctly but once I partition the disk and restart the computer, it gets stuck on a white screen with the Apple logo and I am forced to make a hard stop and then hold down option to boot into OS X, recovery, or the EFI Boot.

If I go through the windows installation to start the EFI system, I get an error of:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk.  The selected disk is a MBR partition table.  On EFI systems, Windows cannot be installed on GPT disks. »

I also tried to create a partition by using disk utility, and that too made me an error in the installation of windows.

So far, the only way that I'm away from windows to run at all has been using the free trial of VMware Fusion 8... but I intend to use windows for more intensive tasks like audio pro, and merger simply does not offer the performance necessary to run these programs.  I'm hoping to install windows 8.1 on my internal SSD or HARD drive, regardless of the work - as long as OS X and files associated with it are left alone.

If someone could help me please understand this point, I would really appreciate it!

    Thank you

If your computer has an optical drive, you must use the optical drive to install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant.

  • I can't put a disc into my optical drive.

    Hello

I have a Macbook 2010 Pro and over the past 6 years, I have rarely used the optical drive. Recently, I tried to put in a disk but it wouldn't even go.  I have no idea why this would be.

    Any help or advice appreciated!

    Concerning

You have a hardware problem.  Are you sure that there is nothing inside the DVD player?  If you are energetic, open the MBP, remove the disc and open it.  If this is not the case, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.  It is possible that the player has not.

    Ciao.

  • You can install Windows on a Mac without an optical drive

Hey, I have a Mac end 2011 a friend gave to me and he said it was broken. I realized that it was just the SATA port on the motherboard, so I pulled out the optical drive and I put an SSD in it. Now I want to install Windows but Mac says that I am not allowed to because I don't have an optical drive. I tried Abu tools and many other shippers of EFI boot, but none of them does not seem to work! Please help me fast! I am computer LITERATE, so no response even if it is complicated would be very useful. THX

  • El Capitan grateful suddenly don't no optical drive

I have a MacBook Air running El Capitan, purchased 3/2016. I bought the optical drive when I bought the computer. I used the external drive to burn DVDs and CDs. Everything worked fine until I plugged the optical drive yesterday. I opened iTunes, plugged the disc inserted a cd and the window showing that I inserted the cd never popped up. The finder does not display the drive, even though I checked in preferences to show him. The only way I could safely remove the cd was going to disk utility where I could see the disc and the cd and eject it.

I checked to make sure that the drive still works by inserting a DVD or CD in the optical drive. The two will play correctly, but I still have to go back into the disk utility to eject because the drive does not appear anywhere else.

With iTunes running and the drive plugged with a blank CD inserted, the "playlist to burn to the disc" is grayed out, because the computer is not recognizing the drive.

What can I do to get the computer/El Capitan to recognize the drive again?

  • Question about installing an SSD in my optical drive

I'm looking for pulling on my optical drive and put in an SSD, because I was told it can do my slow Mac run very fast. My thought was that rather than spend on my existing hard drive, I would take the optical disc and install my SSD it (I've seen a lot of videos shows how to do this)

My original hard drive offers 500 GB and also have a Windows partition, so I'm a little afraid to play with it, too... Adding an SSD will give me a feature from the application of some of the work for the SSD (such a start and some slower applications) to work only with a specific hard drive? And if I did start Mac on the SSD, should I uninstall and reinstall OS X on this new SSD?

Sorry, I'm really new to all this. Any help is appreciated!

My first step would certainly be in lieu of the HD with an SSD. Then assess where you are and what you think of your 'new' machine.

  • Optical drive will not read anything else professional films

So, I am owner of a 2012 MacBook Pro 13 ". The computer comes with Intel Core i7 processor and has the maximum of 8 GB of Ram. The problem is that the optical drive that is built into the computer will read nothing else done professionally movies. It can read disks of movies like the Lord of the rings and Wargames, to name a few, I tested, but it will not read any DVD-R disc or to a CD. I tried the CDs as Metallica music... And Justice for all after try in another computer and a radio and get good results when it just won't play on my Mac.

I have had this problem in the past , but at the time the optical drive not read anything at all. This occurred in early December and I fixed it on 20 December. To solve the problem, I went to the Apple Store and they can Reset the P - RAM. The Apple guy he told me to make sure to disable every night. I did this because it's what I did in the past. After that, I was able to play any CD or DVD and burn them. I also tested it every two weeks by playing a DVD in there to check that it still works. But I discovered that it was broken again when tried to insert a DVD-R to burn things on it and the computer only it spun and then ejected it. I've known this current problem since around mid-April.

I did some research on it and what I have read I believe that I must buy a cleaning disc and run it in my optical drive to clean the lens of the eye out, but I don't understand how I am able to read some disks and not others if that is the problem.

Can I take it again in the Apple Store and get it looked like or should I buy a cleaning disc and run it through my optical drive, and then decide what to do next? I'm in no hurry to get this problem fixed because my guarantee does not expire until the end of July this year.

I don't know why you want to put some words in BOLD and a few words in normal font. Frankly I find it a bit annoying when someone does something like that, but oh well... what you could do is to try a cleaning disc (the one with little brushes this topic) or a good breath of air compressed. In addition, some brands of DVD - R Virgin do not work as well as others. I found verbatim to be good, maybe maxell or Taiyo Yuden. Your mileage may vary...

If this still does not work, feel free to zap the pram x 2-3) and do an smc reset. Shut down the computer, plug power adapter, hold down the left shift, control, option, and button works / stop for about 45 seconds, let go of all of them, then press the power button to restart. If none of this works, then by all means to make a genius bar appointment and bring it in to your local Apple store. Hey, if you have an extended warranty, might as well use it, right?

    Good luck
