  I'm working on a HP Pavillion DV 2745se. The laptop runs Windows Vista Edition Home Premium (from restore HP) - 32-bit, the unit was having a problem with speed and was running hot. Restore system restore 2) Ran HP, return the machine as a factory 3) ensured there were any errors in the network adapter in the Device Manager 4) "sleep" mode disabled in power management in the Device Manager 5) removed from the wireless adapter and put the card in an another good known laptop and the card works. ((6) performed a "Hard reset" several times using this procedure: a) disconnect all devices and remove all USB devices and multimedia cards. (b) disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery and then press in and hold the button for at least 1 minute. (c) reconnect the AC power adapter (do not connect the battery), press the switch and check is this problem is solved or not. ((d) and added, I.) In the BIOS & "reset to factory defaults" ii.) Unplug the battery CMOS and connect battery and reset the time. ((7) the laptop via battery Ran only 8) ran the laptop through the power supply only 9) booted up the laptop with the Ubuntu operating system via a USB and that the operating system could not 'find' the adapter wireless laptop is acting, as it is off, but in addition to the power switch on the front of the laptop that always remains orange , it doesn't seem to be any other places to manage the On / Off function.   These notebooks have been prone to problems of heat. It was also known that excessive heat caused damage to wireless networking.

  This is probably one of 2 things:

  1. the heat pulled out the wireless card.

  2. the heat pulled the motherboard components that operate the wireless network as the mini-PCIe slot card.

  I don't remember if I mentioned earlier in this thread, but I had a family member (who knows a lot about computer) look at my laptop. He traded my module wireless for the other wireless modules he knew worked, but none of them worked. My wireless module worked in his laptop computer, but not in mine. So, even if I had bought a new wireless module, it would not have helped. The guy who looked at my laptop even done a factory reset, but it still did not help.

  In the end, we learned that my motherboard does not accept more wireless modules. And this laptop is known for having so many hardware failures, it's not worth buying a new motherboard. For now, I'm stuck with a wireless adapter until this laptop terrible finally stops right turn.

  This isn't really a solution; It is not really a big part of the solution in my case because my wallet isn't bottomless (even if that were the case, I doubt that I had still shell out money to buy a new motherboard - I would just buy a new laptop). But it is a conclusion and what I discovered.
  Pavilion dv9000 is that a waste of money and time, and HP is no longer offer a useful support to the Pavilion dv9000 users.

• Slow WiFi on Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 wireless adapter on HP Pavilion 500-120EA 8.1 Windows

  This wireless adapter is extremely slow that causes ping high during the game. The game I tried was League of legends. The artheros adapter showed the ping MS 1000 +.

  So I decided to see if the necessary driver updated. When you go to Device Manager to update, it showed that she needed no updates.  Also checked on the hp site and it showed that I have the latest version of the driver. So I checked the Atheros website and I didn't have the latest version of the driver. So I intalled the latest driver at 10.0.0.263 10.0.0.270.

  Yet once I tried the game to see if there is an improvement with Internet and again he showed my ping 1000 + Ms. has not changed at all. No improvement.

  I did troubleshoot and it sort of something I do not know what but. No change.

  I also changed the powersaver maximum for the wireless card. No change.

  So I change my card a blekin N300 wireless and all the problems I've had are solved. The ping playing League of legends is 40-70 m send it / receive packets similar to the atheros AR9485 rae but I've seen go up to 88 Kbps at its highest level.

  So what can I do to fix the Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 wireless adapter?

  These problems are very rare and shouldn't t happen if hardware or software is ok.
  Power LED blinking orange means there could be a hardware malfunction.
  It is a code flashing microphone and a technician can be read.
  This code must be translated into the hexadecimal digit.

  But for ordinary users it s not able to know what it means. In my opinion a power electronic malfunctions and must be verified by an ASP.

  If this is the driver you have, then this is the most recent.

  If this isn't the case, you can give it a try, since you have nothing to lose. You shouldn't have to put up with unstable connections. I hope that the last version of driver if you are not running currently, solve your connection problems.

  2. What is the full error message that you receive?
  3. This is the first time you install it on the computer?

  Check and make sure that the adapter is properly connected to the computer.

  The solution: uninstall ZoneAlarm!

  I spent 3 days and 3 different cards, trying to solve this problem. First of all, I bought a Netgear PCI wireless adapter. Installed according to the instructions. Device Manager showed the adapter works properly but turned off and nothing I tried would enable the adapter.

  NETGEAR has taken over to the store and buy a Linksys PCI wireless adapter. Exactly the same problem. Device Manager, said the adapter worked correctly, but turned off and would not turn on.

  So I called Linksys support and paid them only for the remote service and they couldn't get it to work either (of course to return money). They suggest is to contact Microsoft technical support or buy the USB version.

  I went and picked up the USB (WUSB600-N v.2) version today and guess what? Exactly the same problem. Device Manager showed the device works correctly, but turned off and would not turn on. After talking to a few other technicians in addition to myself, we agreed that the only other option was to reinstall windows. But just before I decided to do, I checked one last time to Google and came across a post in the forums of Vista by someone who had the same exact problem, uninstalled ZoneAlarm and then worked their wireless adapter.

  Well, I decided to try that before reinstalling windows. As soon as I uninstalled ZoneAlarm and the computer restarts, the adapter has been activated and automatically found my network! This means that ZoneAlarm control network on the computer and for some reason cards some not allowing a wireless adapter is enabled.

  Then I tried to re-setup of ZoneAlarm. After that I have re-installed, my wireless adapter became instantly disabled and would not turn on again. So I uninstalled ZoneAlarm at all times. My router has SPI and NAT firewall on top of the Windows Firewall, so I need anyway ZA.

  If you have ZoneAlarm, get rid of it. If you still experience the problem of your card activating Wireless does not and have ZoneAlarm, try to uninstall any firewall software 3rd - party that you have already installed (not the Windows Firewall).

  I was really frustrated after spending 3 days with 3 different adapters and many trips to stores using the adapters and buy different cards. I'm glad I found this post on the forums of Vista, so the credit goes to the one who made this post.

  On a side note, after I installed the drivers from the CD and Linksys site, Windows update has shown there is an updated driver on the site of Ralink which I installed it and so far no problem. My WUSB600-N automatically connected to the strip of the 5 GHz on my router dual band and speeds are ultra fast and signal is strong in a completely different room.

  Hope this information helps others finally solve this problem.

  64-bit, but it should work on either. ZoneAlarm includes network connections and was not what allows the adapter to be activated. Even close ZoneAlarm does not work either. ZoneAlarm must be uninstalled from the card must be activated.

  Vista drivers work fine with this adapter. Then a Windows Update is the updated drivers for Ralink which also work very well.

  If you have properly installed the drivers and display device manager the device works correctly, but disabled, and then uninstall any firewall/antivirus 3 rd-party should do the trick.

  I am a tech, more I consulted other technicians as well as paid for technical support of Linksys and nobody could understand this problem and it's no wonder. Who would have thought that ZoneAlarm or any 3rd part antivirus/firewall software would take complete control over network connections and not to allow a new network adapters must be installed correctly.

  Your BT Home Hub came with a yellow Ethernet cable - you should have a plug Ethernet on your PC.

  I think that you have diagnosed correctly.  It would be convenient if you could try another card before you buy a (maybe borrow one from a friend) and also check this adapter on another computer to see if she works there (so it can't be defective or it may simply decide to work at that moment), but as the material, you should be able to return everything you buy If she has problems. Make sure that it is compatible with your version of Vista.  I think a USB connector will very well - many people use them and I hear of any particular problem they that do not occur with all different types of devices.  It'll probably be easier to install.  Do not throw the power adapter - it may be useful someday as a spare because it does work from time to time.   Wireless USB adapter works fine until the computer turns off during the night. When I turn on, cant' find internet b/c "no wireless adapter found" I disconnect, then reconnect the usb wireless adapter and it works very well.  I do this every time?  Is there a fix for this?
