Laptop freezes

I have a Toshiba L305-S5921 that crashes from time to time. Sometimes just sitting idol and sometimes running tests. Is this a problem with Vista or Toshiba?

Hello

Although it could be hardware related try these methods and if they don't correct troubleshooting
the questions, and then if all goes well they will point to what is the first cause.

-----------------

What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Be one you have NEVER
on this machine, including those you have uninstalled (they leave leftovers behind which can cause
strange problems).

----------------------------------------------------

Follow these steps:

Start - type this in the search box-> find COMMAND at the top and RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN

Enter this at the command prompt - sfc/scannow

Also run CheckDisk, so we cannot exclude as much as possible of the corruption.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-Device-Manager-install-driver.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

Refer to these discussions because many more excellent advice however don't forget to check your antivirus
programs, the main drivers and BIOS update and also solve the problems with the cleanboot method

  • HP G62 laptop computer: laptop freezes after startup

After starting my laptop freezes.  How long after starting varies.  Sometimes it will freeze after only a few minutes. Sometimes it can be operational for an hour or two.  Want to know how to fix this.

Tested hard drive and the Long DST failed.  Has given an ID of the failure of QAGCHR-5GH847-XDOO3A-61AKO3.  Product ID is XHO66UA #ABA.

    Hello

Error code 24 characters is a failure of the entire test (DST) disk Self and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the freezing issues you describe.

If you want a guide on replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

  • Satellite M50: laptop freezing problem

    Hello

Problems with a fairly new M50. Recently it started to freeze, can only switch with switch / stop. It takes at least 15 minutes before trying again as it always freezes the OS front. But after that time will always leave you on the operating system. But sometimes it will freeze in the operating system after 20 minutes. Reformatted 3 times and had run it once for 3 hours, but with an error messages like "mobile political load failed" and the missing drivers. Later frozen after restart of the 3rd.

Can't understand why the delay? Search for viruses, etc., expelled Toshiba but no found hardware probs? Any suggestions? Is it a super virus that damaged the HD?

    Hi Alaux

You reinstall the operating system with the recovery CD?
If this isn't the case, please pick up the unit with the recovery CD. This CD is put on trial and the laptop it works without any problem.
But if you used the recovery CD and the laptop freezes and has problems, please, don t install any 3rd programs. Check if the laptop if it works to clean the BONES.

You are in the forum MS Security Essentials anti-malware and anti-virus advice.  You should repost in the Windows forum.  However, here are some quick suggestions.

    (1) do you notice this always or only when certain applications are running?  Uninstall and reinstall these applications.
    (2) how many times you restart your PC?  If you are on a Vista OS, you must restart quite often (daily).
    (3) have you ever 'cleaned' temporary files?  If your PC can accommodate, if you run many applications (enough to force windows to exchange the hard disk in the background) etc, your PC can accumulate a lot of tmp files that slow things down as he tries to understand what it takes to run and what to leave to sleep.  Download and run the free and safe application called ccleaner, which will it clean up automatically when you start.
    (4) the concern of lines vertical me... don't know if it's just an artifact of graphics drivers try to follow on a PC that freezes or an indication of a problem.  You may need to call support for your laptop.
  • Laptop freezes when running applications

I got a G6 Pavilion - 2263ca with Windows 8. When I open an application on the start screen, the laptop freezes and closed. I ran a system recovery and all the system diagnostics, but nothing has changed and I can't find a hardware problem. I sent it for repair in the workshop, they replaced the HARD drive and reinstalled the OS but nothing changes. Right now, all I can do is reinstall the RAM, but seriously, I don't think it will solve the problem. Please help me :-(

    Hello

    Try the following.

In regards to the manual maintenance on the link below, delete one of your memory modules and then see if the laptop works Ok.  If it doesn't, try the same module, but in another location.  If it is still working properly, try the other memory module in both slots, to see if any combination will allow the laptop to run without freezing.

The procedure for withdrawal of these modules is detailed from Page 55 of your & Maintenance Guide.

  • Laptop freezes after exactly 2 minutes

My laptop freezes after exactly 2 minutes. I don't get the problem when booting in safe mode. I've disabled all services & then allowed them one at a time and the problem seems to be with BITS & Windows update. My laptop will not freeze if I let only these two services turned off. I ran the Scanner to complete MS who managed nothing found. I also ran sfc/scannow & cleaning. I have a HP G7000 Notebook running Vista Home Basic 32-bit with SP2.

What follows is a generic response.
Among the measures that you have already done.

There are many reasons why a PC "behaves" in this way.

These boring "desynchronization" can be caused by an overloaded hard drive, CPU overworked, Malware, 2 AV, useless data, browser addons, or you can have unnecessary programs running in the background, etc...

What follows is a series of steps that you want to try troubleshooting...

    * Make sure that all the intake/exhaust vents are clean as well as fans.
Download some software temp monitoring for cpu, gpu.

    * This could be a hard drive that goes wrong or corrupt.
To check a hard training see Check Disk...
    Run the disk check.

    * In a Directors account type cmd in search.
    Type sfc/scannow in cmd.
This report and solve minor problems.
Take note of what is said at the end.
Your computer should freeze, try to do the tests in safe mode.

    * Go to search, type Manager devices and look for the yellow warning markers.

    * If overclocking, restore to the original.

    * Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.

    * Minimum. You to find out what is causing your problem.

You could try a more ancient date from the system restore - system restore can also be made with the Startup Repair tool

then set the Boot Options on the DVD that you start or adjust the CMOS/BIOS to use the DVD as 1st boot device.

  • computer laptop freeze terribly - even in safe mode.

I received my new HP Pavilion in February and since I got it it has been freezing upwards. I can't leave it on for more than half an hour about without touching and it freezes. At first I thought I could deal with it, I used to treat difficult computers and I was just happy to have my own... but then he started to gel and from time to time when I tried to turn it back on it would lead me to a black screen with blue text saying that it doesn't even have an operating system. I let a little and restart it and suddenly windows would be back and it works fine. Frost continued, and then it started to freeze during this loading windows. I tried to restore the system to the last time a few times. Now it has arrived at the point where I can't turn without it freezing one minute after the Office has completely loaded. I don't even have time to open anything to try to find out what's wrong and he did this in each safe mode as well. I'm completely stuck on where to go from here. I don't know even how to restore to its original state if I can't even open the Control Panel before the laptop freezes on me. And I mean freezes. The mouse will not move, the screen does not change, the time does not change. I can't do something, but hold the power button to turn off.

I'm really desperate for help or I wouldn't be here. I read in forums for two days trying to find a solution... so here I am. Any help would be really appreciated.

    Hello

Well maybe it is the answer to your problem because an error 303 is a failure of the test short HDD - the only solution is to have the hard drive replaced.

You will need to contact HP and arrange for the laptop repaired under warranty.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.
