Laptop HP ENVY 15z-j100 CTO: Fingerprint Reader detection (HP ENVY 15z-j100 CTO < ENERGY STAR >)

Recently I formatted my laptop after returning from Windows 10. Unfortunately, I had to do it through hard-wiping instead of software reset or rollback. Now, I can't get my fingerprint reader to work. I found almost all the drivers for my laptop via this Web site and tool for detection of HP model except for the fingerprint reader and its software (SimplePass), which is weird because I downloaded the installer of the driver on this site once the detection tool has led me to the page. How can I get that back?

Hi @PhilbertSelda,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your problems with the download of the fingerprint software and HP ENVY 15z-j100 CTO Notebook. Here is a link to your page of model software the software Fingerprint is located under the Security section of the software.

Here is a great document for troubleshooting the fingerprint reader. If you need it.

I hope this is what you need.

  • Want to 15 t k000 CTO (Energy Star): HP Envy 15t k000 CTO support m2280 ngff SSD?

I just bought a laptop K000 CTO Envy 15 t and want to ADD an SSD as drive system. At the same time, I want to keep the original HARD disk in its place as a storage for photos and videos. I found a manual on hp.com and K000 model told a m2280 slot.

So I wonder if I could buy a m2280 SSD and install the operating system in it while keeping the HARD drive and the optical drive.

Well I just disassembled the system board and peeked inside. Now, I can confirm that the Envy 15 t k000 CTO model does not have a SSD m2280 slot although the manual says it have. In fact, there is space for the slot behind the motherboard and the size should be m2280. But the fact is that there is no such accommodation. Too bad.

If you want to add an SSD to the laptop, you will need to replace by a SATA III SSD HARD drive.  The HARD drive can replace the optical drive, if you want to keep the HARD disk as the storage.

It is not possible.  Intel does not PCI express video cards.

  • New fingerprint reader of laptop not detected

    Hello

I just got an Elitebook 1040 G1 running win7 64 bit and have been installing all the necessary things I'll need for daily use. Out of curiosity I tried to get the reader of fingerprints, put up just to have as an option if I wanted to. After installing digital persona and the pilot of validity many times to try to resolve this, my laptop still does not recognize the fingerprint reader.

    Action taken:

    • Uninstalled and reinstalled several times valid drivers
    • Uninstalled and reinstalled digital persona(plus updates)
    • Checked to see if biometrics are in Device Manager and recognized by the machine; which they are

Any ideas what might solve this problem?

  • Often fingerprint reader stops working after laptop wakes from sleep (Pavilion dv6)

I am convinced that the fingerprint reader is fine. There must be a problem with the driver may, something inconsistent with a recent update of the Windows 7 software?

    The scenario:

    • Laptop works very well.  I put on standby when I'm done and use the mousepad to wake him up.  LED fingerprint reader blinks, and I can drag my finger to log on.
    • At one point, after a few times to put the laptop to sleep and wake, the fingerprint reader does not.  No flashing.  I slide my finger and the player does not respond at all - is not yet tell me that there was a bad reading.
    • If I login and log back in again, no change. However, if I do a reboot, everything is fine - the fingerprint reader works again.

I watched over and over again for new drivers and installed.  Nothing seems to affect this scenario.   Unfortunately, this has started to happen about 9 months ago () and because of the sporadic nature of it, I was not attentive enough to know the 'precise' point in time when it started happening.  My instincts tell me that there was some sort of update software/driver along the way which is originally the fingerprint reader not do not work right.  I hope HP continues a relationship with these companies to fingerprint reader and can transmit these questions so that we can do a software update.  But... I don't know if it has been abandoned.  My laptop is still under warranty, but it would be ridiculous to send in just this problem.

I hope that someone has heard of this on the dv6 and may know a solution.  Thank you!

My system is a HP dv6-6145dx.  I am running Windows 7, with the latest updates.  The integrated fingerprint reader works on HP Simple pass 2011 v5.1 and Validity Sensor driver 4.3.205.0 version.  When I try to launch the Simple passage interface, it loads the database, but then the application disappears.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall the software, but makes no difference with the issue, I noted.

"If you keep an open mind, life will give you more opportunities."

No problem, I am completely I shouldn't bother with Pass Simple version 8.  I advanced and installed version 6.  I did not yet get no joy, so I did a little more digging and found one more late Validity Sensor driver, version 4.3.304 (not noted in the list of update driver for my laptop model).  IT WORKED.  I can now go into hibernation and the fingerprint reader remains functional when the system is out of hibernation.  Previously, it was pretty much guaranteed became disabled.  So... it looks that my problem is now solved.

  • Satellite Pro S300 and AES1610 fingerprint reader

    To the right,.

I have a laptop Toshiba Pro S300 with AES1610 fingerprint reader.
Whenever I start windows and was produced for more than a week now it appears constantly wanting to install an update for AES1610, when you select ok to complete the installation of software, he finally opens the Truesuite Access software and wants to repair to change or remove.
Please can someone help me solve this problem.

Fingerprint sensor and truesuite software is always fully operational as well.

    Hello

I had this happen with Vista, it seems Vista tries to install the new drivers from the Windows Update site.

WARNING: This could remove your fingerprints and passwords registered in the utility so in this case you will need to add them, make sure you know your windows password as well to get back in.

    What I did from memory.

    1) go through the installation program and click Finish.
    2) go to start - Control Panel - programs and features
    (3) find the entry of TrueSuite Access Manager and uninstall this program
    (4) restart the machine.

    Then...

    1) go to start - Control Panel - Device Manager
    (2) find the entry for personal identification devices and expand it to see the AuthenTec Inc. entry, right click and go to the update driver software and use search automatically. This should find the most recent version that Windows wants to install on the site to update, follow the wizard and we hope that it will be the end of it.

I think that what is happening is update is installing a more recent version of Windows, but as the old version is still on the machine, its installation program detects the driver or the program has changed and it is then re - install the old version, if you get stuck in a loop.

    Hope that helps.

  • Fingerprint reader not working not not after sleep

So, I've mentioned this problem in a previous post and was directed here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67245 which is a patch that could solve this. This patch did not work. What happens when my laptop back to sleep or the fingerprint reader does not, it says "waiting...". "the top of the screen instead of the normal scan message and don't answer not, or in some cases when I click on other identifying information, it shows a third account (first is my account, second is the account of the player, and the third is a thing stop sign that says that the fingerprint reader is not attached). When I connect with my normal password and try to go to the fingerprint software, it appears a bit is window that is labeled Digital Footprints Lenovo 2.0 and the message "Please wait...". ».

Other then returning to sleep the fingerprint reader has been working well. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Edited to add link patch.

Well, I was still functioning, but I'm not exactly sure how. I'm going on what I've been through so that you guys can get an idea and fix if necessary. To start I spoke to Ms support and I worked with them for a very long period. They tried different drivers installation (other AuthenTec then) and every time we did it he would say "Fingerprint reader is not available" at the opening of the session. They have tried to change the power settings and devices that could wake up from my computer and that had no effect either. I called Lenovo and they basically just told me to download the software that was already on the computer and change the option to have it wake up the computer, which does not exist. They were very helpful.

What eventualy get it working (and it's been working so far), is to uninstall the driver and software. Then reinstall everything and install the patch link above. The first time I install it, I just double clicked on it and went through the installation process. But you must go to the folder, he settled in (C:\DRIVERS\VISTA\FPIRPON\) and double click on FPIRPOn.reg which will add the fix in the registry. In addition to this I also went into the Device Manager and unchecked the box that allows the computer turn on of the fingerprint reader under properties-> the power management of the device. The last thing I did was make an edition of registry to force reset USB every time that wake from sleep. I found the registry change here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928631/en-us.

So I'm sure it's the patch that fixed when I installed correctly it because I tried both the thing of power management to prevent of turns off AND editing the registry and it did not work. I also thing that Vista SP1 solves what the registry edit did, but I tried anyway because I was desperate haha. I'll cancel the registry change and thing of management one of power at a time and see if it still works. If it does not continue to work I guess it's a hardware problem and want to call Lenovo to get it repaired.

Anyone who has this problem I would say that they are trying the patch in the link I posted (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67245) and follow the installation instructions carefully. Good luck!

Until this afternoon everything was fine, but to turn on my laptop an hour ago, the integrated fingerprint reader is no longer detected.

Attempted to restore backups, repaired and even uninstall and reinstallation of HP Simplepass... all with no impact in this regard... I have still some no activation sensor of joy... .He tells me the fingerprint reader is not connected.

The laptop is not fallen, bumped or mishandling somehow.

I am running the latest version of Windows 7 Premium, with all the updates that are installed via the HP Wizard. My security suite is Kaspersky 2012... and I even disabled by attempting a restore of the system... restoration returns with a file that are not accessible, but does not tell me which file?

I have no virus or malware on my laptop

Help, please... It's driving me crazy...

    Thank you

    Hey Midsyork,

Looks like you run Digital Persona SimplePass flavor.

Two things to try, in order:

    • Hard reset
    • Remove and reinstall the validity sensor driver

    Hard Reset:

Sometimes, all you need to do is the computer suddenly.  This method works for a variety of connection and "glued" program issues.

    • Disconnect all the external devices first.
    • Remove the AC power and battery
    • Press and hold the power button while in the minus 30 seconds
    • Reinstall the power supply for the first start only * see Note
    • Power on - connect
    • Next time you shut down the system, replace the battery.

    * Note: You can ignore the little battery aside.  If you wish, replace the battery the first time and do it with her.

    Check the software...

If it still does not work, go ahead.

    • Control Panel > Device Manager > biometric devices > Validity Sensor > uninstall > delete
    • Reboot ...

    Validity Sensor V2.1.0.2

    • Install the validitysensorDriverinstallationpackage: it if called sp*.exe - the package will be most likely located in the downloads folder.  If you have control of "Admin", you can highlight the package and "double-click on ' to install it, otherwise just right-click, select"Run as Administrator"and install.

This can kick things hard enough to restore the Digital Persona software.  You can hit him harder, but first...

    ======================================================================================

    What about the rest...

You could consider running a full system scan.  I'm a demon for this.  I like a healthy file system.  It cannot solve the problem, but it will ensure that the issue is not a messed up system files, which CAN cause all sorts of unpleasant and troubled issues.  You do not really have to 'look' like a mother hen during analysis, look at the logs or 'DO' something.  He's going to take care of yourself and try to fix what it can.  The only time where that must involve it is things do not go well...  Is there a doc to help at the end to tell you what does this thing.  It is not harmful and, unless your system is broken, and it's going to die anyway, it will only make things better than they are now.

    scannow SFC

Analyze and fix the system.  The sfc/scannow command. who will do - it will scan the operating system, looking for corrupted files and inconsistencies; He will replace or repair everything he can.  If it finds corrupted programs or libraries, it will try to correct them.

    • Start menu > all programs > Accessories > right click on guest > select ' run as administrator'
    • In the command prompt window, type (or copy / paste) sfc/scannow , and then press enter.

(Note the space between sfc and the ' / '.)

The sfc scan will report its findings and you can look at the results:

    • Open an command prompt (it doesn't have to be as an administrator):
    • Use the command copy to create a copy of file readable by the output:

    %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log copy %userprofile%\desktop\cbs.txt

If "scannow" does not properly complete, try running:

    SFC /verifyonly

Copy the results to a text file, extract the output file in Notepad and look for errors that could not fix the full scan.

Help file for the System FIsland Checker command:

The Windows Vista or Windows 7 System File Checker tool

  • I forgot my Windows 7 password WITHOUT having access to the admin via the fingerprint reader account...

I forgot my password of Windows 7. I have access to my laptop as an administrator with a fingerprint reader. I would like to cancel or change my password of Win7, but it seems I can't without knowing. Under: Control Panel, user account, change password, need allowing you to type the password before you can change or cancel it. Help! Is there any solution to this? I fear the day jumps to scan fingerprints and I'm stuck on my laptop. Thank you!

So feel free.  Use your current access to create two new admin accounts & create password reset for them drives.

If you do not already have, then create a password reset disk for your user account to the daily as well. Alternatively, if it is the one that you forgot the password, create a new user and account & use the admin account to save your data.

I also write my passwords & keep waste paper in a safe place.

I suggest two admins like any profile can get damaged.  If a user account profile is corrupt, you can get with an admin account to save the data.  If an administrator account is corrupted so you need a spare admin account to enter to save the system.

  • T420 - fingerprint reader does not read the skin dry or wet

I used the fingerprint reader of my old T61p for years with great success. It didn't matter that my skin is dry or wet, or even if my fingers are a little fat - identification has worked well.

Now with my T420, I noticed that the fingerprint reader detects my fingerprint only, if the skin on my finger is 'normal', i.e. it does not detect the reading if my fingers are wet or dry. When my fingers are dry, I must always first lick my finger and then wide, this helps.

It's very annoying feature - is possible to configure the fingerprint reader to be a little less sensitive to the dryness of the finger skin?

Go to the Lenovo Fingerprint Reader software and look for a slider between Dresser and protected. This move to Dresser; It should contribute to the sensitivity.

  • ENVY 17 t-J100 Leap Fingerprint reader seeing Motion?

My brother has the motion of non-saut ENVY 17 t-J000. And he has a LED indicator to the left of the sensor fingerprint that lights in white or orange when you drag your finger. Which is really nice to know that it has detected your finger when you think that nothing is happening.

But I just got the Motion Leap of his laptop computer version, and I don't see any LEDS light up when I slide my finger. The sensor works well though.

So my question is, can confirm one that this model has or that there is no LED indicator as the motion of non-saut feel LIKE? I don't want to lose time to call HP if this model does not have the LED indicator. But if he does, I need to have the unit repaired or replaced before I get it all together at the top.

Weird that it is not displayed, here's an imgur link, in case you still want to see

    Hi SergeyPov,

I see that you are having problems with your fingerprint reader on your laptop. I'd love to help you.

You mentioned that you also updated the BIOS. After doing that you did that the fingerprint reader is always enabled in the BIOS?

Another option would be to possibly check the connections related to the fingerprint reader. It may have a bad contact, or it is also possible that the Board is defective. See the link below that can help checking the connection.
