What do you think?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

@MistaB Yes, that's what I thought. If it is not tested by HP, it'll be not there in the manuals I guess.

@MichaelCanton go ahead with SSD. Planning of 128GB? Previously, he was entitled to 500 GB HARD drive? You're going to make the bootable SSD?, then a little larger size would be better:

If you can find a PATA SSD then probably. You should make sure that the rider is manually to the master. There could also be compatibility problems.

  • Pavilion 17-e020us: HP Pavilion 17-e020us memory / SSD Upgrade Quesstions

    Hello

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM and hard drive on my laptop HP Pavilion 17-e020us (these are the first updates it will receive).

I have 6 GB of RAM and want to update to the maximum supported by the computer, 8 GB of RAM.  Which model of chip RAM should I buy (in addition to the DDR3L - I know that many), and where can I buy it from?  It will take a 4 GB chip (the computer is 6 GB a 4GB chip and a 2GB chip; I will swap the 2 GB chip for a chip of 4 GB for a total of 8 GB).

I'm also looking to upgrade the hard drive 5400 RPM for a Solid State Drive.  The SSD should be around 500 GB.  Which models are compatible with my laptop and what model do you recommend?  Furthermore, to what extent will be upgraded to SSD my computer speed and performance?

Thanks to all those who help me with that.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

    See p. 6 and 49 and 54.

The memory can actually be upgraded to 16 gigs. 2 x 8. Upgrade to 8 GB is a good idea, however. For most people, 16 gigs is excessive. 4 correct gig module is the following:

    4 GB (PC3L, 12800, 1600 MHz) 691740-001

    http://www.Amazon.com/HP-691740-001-1600MHz-PC3L-12800-memory/DP/B00CI08FX4

In regards to a SSD, you can install any wide 2.5-inch SATA SSD. I recommend a Samsung Evo 850

    http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-inch-internal-MZ-75E250B-am/DP/B00OAJ412U/ref=sr_1_2?s=PC&ie=UTF8&QID=1462103742&SR=1-2&keywords=Evo+850

The amazon link has versions of 250 and 500 and 1 TB. Othe SSDS are cheaper, and I got lucky with OCZ. Stay away from the MX Crucial series.

The difference with the SSD will be day and night. There is no better upgrade of money can buy.

  • Upgrading to Windows 7 laptop HP Pavilion DV8380US

    Hello world

I have a laptop HP Pavilion DV8380US #: EZ698UA #ABA. I want to upgrade this notebook to Windows 7 if possible.

    The specifications are the following:

    Windows Media Center operating system

Microprocessor 1.83 GHz Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology with Intel Core™ Duo T2400 processor

Microprocessor Cache 2 MB L2 Cache

Memory 2048 MB 667 MHz DDR2 memory (2 Dimm) system

    Max memory 2048 MB

Video Graphics                     NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400

Discrete video memory 128 MB + 128 MB shared memory

Hard drive from 240 GB at 5400 RPM dual HDD (120 GB x 2)

    Display 17.0 "WXGA + high-definition Ultra BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)

    Sound:                                  Altec Lansing

Both hard drives are bad, so I plan to replace them with the largest possible size and a faster (7200 RPM).

    Can you advise me:

    a. the maximum hard disk size possible

    b. If I go up to 7200 RPM

    c. how much I need memory

    d. other changes I need to do.

    Thanks for the help

    Ken

    Hello

    Here are my answers:

a & b: Yes, you can go to the (larger) 2.5 "9.5 mm on the market today and can be 7200 rpm or above.

c: up to the limit of the machine that is 2 GB, not more

d: you have to do it by yourself since HP support (no drivers for Windows 7 on HP websites). This forum can help you, but it is a pain.

You may be able to put the CPU. My suggestion: with the current market, why update an old machine when you can buy a much better new laptop and can be cheaper?

    Kind regards.

  • 15 - ab032tx: Upgradation to my laptop HP Pavilion ab032tx 15 Upscaled version.

My laptop HP Pavilion 15-ab032tx I bought last summer and is still under warranty. My laptop having the graphics card AMD Raedon R7-M360 (2 GB) and 4 GB of RAM has been upgraded for Windows 10 Home (64-bit). But now, this model is not being manufactured and a rescaled my laptop version is to say 2 GB NVIDIA graphics card and 8 GB of RAM. So can I replace my laptop with this model until June 2016 so that I can get 10 Windows Home (64 bit)? However, I know a little amount will have to be devoted to this topic, but I am willing to bear.

    Hello @Arka69,

Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! The forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I came across your post about the upgrade of the laptop and he wanted to help!

I'm not sure that I understand your question.  You specify that you want HP to replace your laptop, with the other version and pay the difference?  Your mobile phone can support up to 16 GB of RAM, so memory shouldn't be a problem.  If you ask to contact HP to upgrade the laptop, then you can consider contacting the HP support by phone for more options.  Please use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp and create a folder for your question and contact HP. If you do not live in the United States / Canada, please click on the link below to get contact information for your region.
