Laptop stops suddenly

I use a HP Pavilion DM1 laptop, bought almost 2 years ago. The battery life has severely reduced and he stops all of a sudden when the battery is at 75% load. It gives no warning and when I restart, it restarts normally. Help, please.

You really should clear the event viewer logs every now & then.  You have more 18 000 events.  I suspect that the relevant events are associated with HD then please run a check of the file system & a CHKDSK

Please run a check of system files (SFC)

All instructions are in our Wiki article below...
If you have any questions please ask us for .

CHKDSK /R
CHKDSK WARNING: while running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found all the data available in this area could be lost so as always back up your data.
Run CHKDSK /R from a high command (run as administrator).
Do this for each hard drive on your system.
When he tells you, he cannot do at the moment – and ask you if you do not want to do it at the next reset - answer Y (for Yes) and press ENTER.

Then restart and let the test to run.
It may take some time for him to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates errors.

See "CHKDSK LogFile' below to verify the test results.

CHKDSK LogFile:
Click Start and type "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press enter
Expand the topic the Windows logs, and then select the Application log file entry.
Double-click the Source column heading.
Scroll down the list until you find the entrance to Chkdsk (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).

  • My laptop always stops suddenly, can anyone help?

    Hello

I don't know if it's good advice, but I'll just post it here for now.

The model is a HP Pavilion 14-v049TX

My laptop always suddenly stops 10 minutes after the start, even if it is clearly completely cooled. When it stopped, the power button will not and no flash for any button or keyboard. I have to wait a while and try many times to start it up again, and then it stops immediately.

I bought this laptop when I was in China just 2 months, so this is all new. She always stops all of a sudden so I can do my job using it. But I really need to do my job. So please can I get some help?

It is under warranty, but I do not know how to find a supporter technic to fix it.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi @Erjia

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I see you have a problem with your laptop close unexpectedly. It looks like a hardware problem, from what you described. I'll assume you are using Windows 8.1 and this document from HP tests to hardware failures will show how to test the majority of your material. Use UEFI diagnostic tools and run System Test - extended Test.

You can also use the System File Checker to scan your operating system for corruptions see if something is wrong. I also suggest to do a Check Disk as well.

If you are looking for someone to fix it you can call HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or Start here if you live outside of North America.

  • Guard Satellite Pro stopping suddenly.

My laptop is suddenly stop - and do not restart.
"It happens esp if I try to do a scan Mcafee - when it comes down to a ' 1386 file" on the C: drive it stops! (but it also stopped at another time).
I've defragmented it and cleaned up the cookies etc. It is about 50% left on hard drive and even if 4 years old and a little slow sound otherwise was a good laptop Satellite Pro.

Any ideas? Ah its driving me crazy!

Stopping suddenly may also be due to overheating. Usually when he runs some CPU or graphics intensive application, the material can get the critical temperature level and simply turns off.

I'm sure that after some time you can start your laptop. He is old enough laptop model and it's time for cleaning. I really can't say if this has something to do with the preinstalled stuff.

  • Satellite P20 S203 stops suddenly

    Hello

In the last month my Satellite P20 S203 does so well, and unfortunately it seems that the problem is a hardware one (but I'm not sure, and that's why I'm writing here)

The computer just stops suddenly (it happened 2 or 3 times in the last 30 days); every time it happened I was on the web on Firefox, but I'm sure that has nothing to do with it, and I'm also 99% sure that this is not a virus, malware or something like that, cause I formatted there are 3 months and nothing else behave in a strange way, the computer is slow or something like that.

The last two options are that the question can be of a physical nature, or a software (as a conflict between the operating system and installed programs); I'm more to the first, but I do not know and I need assistance to find out... What should I do?

In addition, when it stops suddenly, it won't turn with the first try.
He needs like 10 or 20 times to open like an old car that won't start; the first, say, 5 times I try to turn it on, it appears only the toshiba logo.
It then passes through a screen, I can not read because it goes too fast.

Then a black screen, then it turns off again.
With the next try that it goes a bit further, as it displays the windows logo, but as this image is fading, it stops halfway through the fading process, resulting in a darker windows logo, as it is too difficult for her to load the OS!

But then it turns off again!

Then after a few other attempts it finally loads windows.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

    Hello

Maybe the laptop stops due to a higher internal temperature.
High temperature leads to an overheating of the questions and the laptop would be stops down automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.
The other point is that the high temperature may affect the RAM modules.
In this case the laptop computer may freeze or you will receive a Blue Screen Of Death.

I had a similar problem in the past. About 6 years ago my first oldie started to overheat.
I cleaned the cooling modules, but the questions again.
Finally, I contacted the laptop technician in downtown, and he said that the thermal grease that is placed between the cooling module and the CPU must be renewed.

    He did, and it helped!

  • 1900-303: stop suddenly

When I turned on my laptop a few days previously, it gave 2 short beeps and stops suddenly. Since then, it turns on for like a minute then stops. There is this noise whirring near the cooling fan, I don't know if that's the problem. anyboby can help urgently?

    Hello

Looks like your laptop is overheating. Take a look on the cooling rack, maybe there is little dust that prevents the fan to have enough air. Try to clean it. If this does not help, I think it is best to leave the laptop to be checked by a technician.

    I hope this helps.

  • Tecra S3: Laptop stops due to overheating

Whenenver I run processes of CPU on my laptop, computer base and the table heat sanctioned and the laptop stops without warning after a while.

    What can I do?

    Hi Kersten

May I ask how long do you use this laptop? This issue was in the past?
Mainly of overheating problems occur and are present because don t cooling modules work correctly the dust and debris inside the laptop keeps fans of rotation full implementation, this increases the temperature at the critical level and the laptop stops automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

So in these cases, it s advisable to check the cooling modules and clean it. Vacuuming may help, but be careful that such procedure could damage the fans!
Then maybe you'll ask a technician or a service partner Toshiba for assistance and a professional cleaning

    iPhone 4S OS 9.2.1

Have you ever tried to force reboot the phone by holding down the button sleep and home for 10 seconds, until the Apple logo comes back again? You won't lose data by doing this, but it can cure a few glitches.

If this does not work and to rule out a software problem, set it back to factory settings, without using any data backup later. Test the phone and if the GPS works again, restore the backup.

If the GPS does not work after the factory reset, it is a hardware problem, and Apple has to repair the phone if GPS can be fixed.

In the case where it cannot be resolved, it could offer to replace the iPhone 4s, if you are willing to pay the price for the refurbished phone.

  • T2 "ContentService stopped suddenly.

I get the error message: "the ContentService application has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. "This happens everytime I turn on my PRS - T2 once it has been completely closed. I tried a soft reset and the same thing is happening: after pressing the reset button, press the power button, my T2 starts, then I get the error "ContentService stopped suddenly.

After the error message, there is a button 'Force Close'. I touch "Force Close" and everything seems fine, and the T2 works normally.

    Hello

Try a new installation of the plugin flash/ActiveX as follows.

First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.
