Left Ctrl key does not work as expected
Original title: keyboard/Windows problem
Hi there I met a strange problem that just happened, don't forget that I did not add that shortcuts to my keyboard just randomly happened.
So when I press the LEFT CTRL key a far left, it opens a new window Chrome and in search spam 000 bar if you keep holding it, it will continue to open several windows and keep doing this.
Any idea? Thank you
PS Also scanned for Malware nothing shown!
Hello
1. What is the brand and model of the keyboard?
2. you did any software or hardware changes to the computer before the show?
Analysis of computer malware in order to solve the problem has been a very good start to get the problem resolved. I really appreciate your technical expertise.
Instead of using the physical keyboard to type and enter data, you can use the on-screen keyboard. On-screen keyboard displays a Visual keyboard with all the standard keys. You can select keys using the mouse or another pointing device, or you can use a unique key or a group of keys to scroll through the keys on the screen.
Type without using the keyboard (on-screen keyboard)

CTRL key does not work as expected
Original title: keyboard Help! There is a recurring issue going on with my keyboard or very probably my pc...Well first to start with - I use a software type "ventrilo" called "mumble" that uses the 'CTRL' key as a key to talk with others in the same precedente.* *-could be a reasonMy CTRL key seems really screw randomly until that moment, it turn on sticky keys [where ctrl has practically been pressed permanently] even if it is not enabled on the settings... which makes it really difficult to browse web site or use games because I'm unable to type.Even if I try to disable it by using the two keys ctrl - it does not turn off...When I try to copy and paste using my CTRL key left it appears just under the letter c or v when I'm trying to do, but when I do it with my right ctrl - it is successful...* steam question *.I use also a program called "steam" that allows me to talk with others and play some games - but the sticky keys seem to be really stuck on this issue, I am unable to do anything...Whenever I press 'a' after that it is already used once - it will remove 2 characters: example: I type AGT-> and I press 'a' once more-> deletions G and Tor whenever I have press BACKSPACE at all during a conversation of steam, it deletes everything.Urgent W on it also a tab or an im window closed on...pressing V will paste what I had copied at all, and finally pressing z would substitute a letter - for example: za-> type z once more-> towers to zzI hope you understand what I'm talking... help? Thank you...Hello Kent,
Let us make sure that this isn't a keyboard problem. Connect a different keyboard to see if the CTRL key is working. If it works fine, then it is a problem of faulty device. You may need to replace the driver.
If this does not work on the new keyboard, then it must be a setting in the software that you have installed that is causing this problem.
As a work around, I suggest to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the keyboard and check if this solves this problem.
1. type of Device Manager in the Start Search box and press on enter.
2. browse the keyboard.
3. right click on the mentioned keyboard driver and select Uninstall.
4. once the driver is uninstalled, restart the computer and check if the problem persists.
Note: Windows will automatically detect the keyboard and install the necessary driver via Windows updates.
If the keyboard print incorrect characters, then try the steps mentioned in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258826
I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Satellite P200D-139 - left CTRL key does not
Hello. I recently bought a new P200D-139 and have found that the left CTRL button does not work. For example, if I try to copy using CTRL + C, it does not. It is the way in which the keyboard is configured with these laptops or is it a problem of possible hardware/software?
All the tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I have the same laptop and CTRL + C works on the first day. The laptop with muss factory settings allow you to use this key combination.
It works with the right CTRL key? -

T410 CTRL key does not work after update BIOS to 1.45 (German keyboard)
Dear community,
I updated the BIOS of my TP T410 (2522), German keyboard, to 1.45. After the update, both CTRL keys don't work anymore. Ditto for the AltGr key. When I switch to CTRL FN in the FN key BIOS - as supposed - works like the CTRL key. But when I turn off again the FN returns to his good funtion and CTRL does not work.
When I connect an external keyboard via USB it works perfectly.
Any suggestions how get the CTRL key works again?
Best regards, Simon
Hello
turns out be a hardware fault. Swapped keyboard and it works again.

Satellite L555-11U, CTRL key does not work.
Welcome,
I bought this laptop about 2 weeks ago.
Since Monday, both the CTRL key are as "disabled" but I'm sure, that they are not damaged.
Because:
When I press on (left and right) CTRL + v, this spell: vr. Or c: C3Then I discovered while playing Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2:
If I use the wheel size the Volume, the function of CTRL has been set for her.
This means: in Cod MW2 I use CTRL to crouchinng... now, if I use the wheel I Crouch. Even in other games.I did my best to write in English: D
Thanks for the help,

Hello
Very strange, I think that the buttons are not damage, but I think there could be a problem with the keyboard.
But just a question; have you tried to reinstall the operating system and to check if the button works again? You use the latest version of the BIOS?
Please check everything first. If the buttons do not work even the installation of new OS and new BIOS then it s a hardware problem and the keyboard should be replaced
I think this shouldn't be a problem given that the guarantee is valid and everything should be done for free.
Welcome them

I have a Hp ProBook 450 G1 and all of a sudden my left ctrl has stopped working, everything else works fine. I tried the StickyKeys, restart/reboot, uninstall the keyboard and put it back in, but nothing works. I tried to use a screen keyboard too to see if it works, but it doesn't.
Probably the first sign of a faulty keyboard. You'll probably have to replace it. For a laptop, which requires qualified personnel and the RIGHT part. Check by connecting an external keyboard. Use it at the moment.

My shift key does not work on my MacBook Pro
My shift key does not work on my MacBook Pro. Can I use capital letters but only if I click on change and it's annoying. When I click on the passage icon shift comes at the top right of my screen to show its on but when I click on the lock button nothing happens as it used to glow green when I clicked it. Before someone says go to the system preferences and go to the modifier keys and restore them or make sure caps lock shift is on lock shift, I've tried that already, I looked it upward and found nothing similar. Help ASAP would be appreciated because it is really annoying
Hello Gracepullan1,
I understand that shift key of your MacBook Pro does not respond as before. Fortunately the steps below can help to restore the functionality of the SHIFT key on your Mac.
- In the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
- On the view menu, choose the speech.
- Click on the text to Speech tab.
- If "Text Speak selected when you press the button" is enabled, the key or combination of keys set to read the text cannot be used for other purposes, or used for typing text - click on set the key and replace it with a less commonly used key combination (try using the modifier such as SHIFT keys, command) Option and control). Or disable the option "Read the selected text when the key is pressed".
- Click the accessibility pane or universal access in system preferences, and then click the keyboard tab.
- Make sure the slow keys is off. With slow keys on, you must press a key for a longer period of time so he can be recognized.
- In the accessibility pane or universal access, click the mouse and make sure mouse keys is turned off. With the active mouse buttons, you cannot use the numeric keypad to enter numbers - instead the keypad moves the pointer (cursor). (There is an option to activate the MouseKeys to five presses down option, you can disable this option to avoid accidentally activate it.) If the mouse keys is enabled and you are using a keyboard without the numeric keypad or Num Lock function, see Impossible to type while mouse keys is enabled in Mac OS X.
- If the function keys on the top row of the keyboard do not work as expected, see Mac OS x: how to change the behavior of the function keys.
- If the problem persists, use the keyboard Viewer to help isolate the problem:
- Click the component language & text (Mac OS X v10.6) or international (Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier) in system preferences.
- Click on the tab Input Sources (or tab Menu entry under Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier version).
- Click on the keyboard and the characters 'On' box Viewer checkbox to select (click on the viewer of keyboard "On" checkbox under Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
- In the entry menu (flag), choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
- If the keyboard is connected and detected by OS X, the keys you type will highlight in the keyboard Viewer window. Open TextEdit (or any text application) and try to type something using the keys that failed before to see if they highlight in the keyboard Viewer.
- Start up from the Mac OS X installation disc, choose Terminal from the utilities menu and test buttons that did not previously. If the keys work while started from the install disc, the keyboard works correctly. How to solve a problem of software allows to isolate the software problem that may be causing the keys to not answer.

CTRL keys do not work on Portege R500
Both CTRL keys do not work on my Portege (Vista Biz) 500.
I guess this isn't a hardware problem. Because that both keys are not recognized even though I hardly use the CTRL button on the right.
I don't know if it is caused by a program (newly installed). I've just updated BIOS 1.6 without effect.
I also tried to boot the system with Linux on a USB key. Also, the keys do not work on Linux.
Does anyone have experience with this problem?
Can I remove the keyboard driver and reinstall it? Could someone explain the procedure?Thank you for all the advice
> laptop does not respond to the Ctrl + alt + delete even before starting an OS (for example, while being in its menu of BIOS).
The keys Ctrl + alt + delete key combination can be used ONLY in Windows OS
It will work not in the BIOS or Windows boot has not been done! Finally, you must make sure that your laptop uses the latest version of the BIOS.
If a newer BIOS is available that be updated! If this does not help, retrieve the device using Toshiba drive!
If the key still won't work, then you should get in touch with an ASP in your country. Here are the steps you have to do

I see from my records that a similar case has been solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the update WAT - KB971033
Open the Windows Update - click the link view updates installed on the left of the page
in the list, find the WAT update KB971033, and then uninstall it.
Then restart and reinstall the update from here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033
redemarrer restart again, then try to change your product key to the one on the sticker - what is happening this time?

When you use the Clone Stamp tool CS6 the alt key does not work?
Just recently, my mouse have misbehaved and touched my CS6 when I was working on a photo. The result, my alt key does not work. For example, when I use the Clone Stamp tool, I can't sample as the alt key does not work. Even in ACR, the alt key does not work. When I drag the 'white' to the left while pressing the ALT key, the screen turns black.
Help, please? Thank you

Hi Steven Teo,
You are able to use the ALT key well otherwise on your computer?
You can try to reset the Clone Stamp tool.
To reset, follow the instructions below:
1. Select the Clone Stamp tool
2. right click / Control click dropdown at the top left
3. choose Reset tool
Hope that helps.
