Left SHIFT key + key of shortcut to deleting?

Typing and all of a sudden a whole paragraph or half a sentence is deleted and the cursor wraps in the To: or Subj: line!  I can only think that my finger is slightly touch the control or fn key at the same time as the SHIFT key. (I hope it's nothing worse for what is the computer works.)  Is press left SHIFT + control key or the SHIFT key + fn, a kind of shortcut for deleting and the cursor jumps to a different location on the page or in the address area? Or what may actually cause it, often now.  I just need to control the 'fat fingers' and close my fingers specifically or this description indicates something more serious for this MacBook Air (10.10.5)?  He did not before today.  Thank you for the attention you give to this concern.

Just tried it out - doing nothing - tried on Pages and words

The keyboard shortcut for delete as you know, is Cmd + delete

  • Windows will behave as if the left SHIFT key is stuck

I had this recurring problem where Windows will behave as if the left SHIFT key is stuck. I opened the keyboard on the screen and it does not show the key to press. While this issue happens, unplug the keyboard and by him plugging back in does not solve it.

I'm pretty sure that NOT to be the problem:
    (1) something inside the keyboard causing it to stick.
    (2) the keyboard is defective.
    (3) to a new update/program installed.
    (4) initiated by the user, (seemingly random).
    (5) the motherboard is faulty.

After searching several forums, it is clear that this is a widespread problem and is NOT limited to my hardware or operating system.
Unfortunately, it seems that most Tech this fired up as an individual problem and do not give the solution of rolling back/reinstall windows, which are not an option for me.

It is not last forever, which means that I still have not restart before it fixed itself (sometimes), and I tried almost every combination of buttons to try to repair.

    System information:

    Gigabyte Z68AP-D3

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 6.1.7601

    Intel Core i7 - 2700 k CPU @ 3.50 GHz

    Total system memory: 8 GB memory DDR3 - 1600 (PC3 - 12800)

GeForce GTX 550 Ti 2 GB GDDR 5

    DirectX 11.0

In case you need something I didn't not give please ask.

Once again, I searched for some time prior to this announcement and have found no answers at the moment. Thank you for your time.

I had the same problem after breaking down or brewing Maj (sticky keys). See if the "Set up sticky keys" or deactivating solves the problem.
    http://KB.IU.edu/data/aaez.html

Even if you say that's not a bad keyboard, it could be. Try using a different keyboard if the deactivation of the sticky keys does not work. Sorry if it's a laptop and you do not have a USB keyboard.

  • Left SHIFT key of blackBerry Q10 is defective

By simply pressing the left SHIFT key, the key will work. This means that when you type 'y' or 'x', I get rather 'Y' and 'X' respectively. I have a QWERTZ keyboard.

The metal contact inside has very probably been flattened. You need to get the unit replaced. If it is less than one year and you bought by your carrier, they should be able to get a warranty replacement for you.

  • Left SHIFT key push the window at the same time key

I don't know if it is a hardware problem with the keyboard but Ive tried many things to resolve this question and I'm not sure what to do. Press my left shift key results in my left side of the window also key be pushed, I am positive im not accidentally pushing it and it still happens if I pull one of the keys. Press button of the left window also causes my left shift button to be pushed. tested with the on screen keyboard and that's what it shows. I tried to reset my keyboard via the menu of languages by switching input languages and reconnect my keyboard and restart my computer, but so far it has not fixed anything. Happen randomly while I was browsing the internet.

The most likely cause of this problem is a faulty keyboard.  If it is a desktop computer, it's simple and inexpensive to replace.

In the case of a laptop, it much more complicated and expensive.  Unless you're technically adventurous enough, probably too intimidating for you.  First problem will be to find the right replacement.  Which can be difficult because there are a myriad of different keyboards, even for the same brand/model.  It is a common problem on laptops because the keyboard is the computer cover under.

  • My left shift key beeps twice when you press on--NOT STICKY KEYS

My left shift key does not work. The law works fine. When you press it, it sounds twice. Has Ive restore my computer to an earlier point and that did not fix the problem, any more than to disable and turn off StickyKeys. The key itself is sensitive, it leads me to believe that it cannot be the entire keyboard. Any ideas would be useful.

BTW, I am running Windows 7 on a laptop Asus U43F

    1. See manual ASUS [service] to see if there is any special significance to it. http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/p/post.htm I thought, but it seems not applicable since it is not starting, it is when running.
    2. check the sticky keys for accessibility-related technologies starting with F1 for help. There are a number of them. start going through one by one to see if something is on. You may have accidentally market something (there are combinations of keys that do this). Control Panel, display small icons, accessibility.
    3. buy a $5 or $22 USB keyboard. IBM makes a mechanical keyboard nice $79, classic, I believe to be a joy to type on (they make them for IBM). http://www.pckeyboard.com/page/category/UKBD
    4. Plug it in
    5. Try the left SHIFT key
    6. If she still double beeps {is your installation of windows or something in the laptop, not your keyboard. you can try reinstalling windows using a repair, which is less expensive, you need to reinstall your programs and drivers, but you keep your data. you can keep this configuration, my mother a.} otherwise, {hardware of the laptop may be in need of repair could cost between $200 (replace keyboard)-800 $ (motherboard).}

There are more expensive mechanical keyboards, but they are for games.

  • Left SHIFT key of the T40 reveals context/right click menu?

    Hello all-

On my T40, on which I recently got properly installed, Windows 7 has a curious behavior:

When I press the left SHIFT key, it works the same as if I had pressed the right button of the mouse.  It works otherwise, I.e., then its use to capitolize a letter in an e-mail, the letter is capitolized, but as soon as I let go of the SHIFT key, the context right click menu will then appear.

It's extremely annoying, because I can't continue typing until I sailed out of the menu.

I checked to see if the keyboard customiser utility is the cause, I have currently my left Alt key works as a button of Windows, but it does not ask this question.

Anyone have an idea how I could go about fixing of this?

    Thanks in advance,

    G

    Too bad.

Had the customizer of keyboard configured to use the time left as the key to the application key.  Duh.

  • Satellite C55 - A left SHIFT key and q - key does not

The Shift key suddenly stopped working around the same time as the q key. The q key stopped working gradually. I've done an update of my drivers and full of viruses and other, bot analysis, nothing helps. Anyone any ideas what else could be wrong?

    Thank you

You must connect an external USB keyboard to the laptop to check if two buttons work correctly.
In case the USB keyboard would work without major problems, the anomaly must be related to internal keyboard fault.

In this case possible solution-> keyboard replacement

  • The right Shift key View 4 PCoIP/w and keypad does not work

    Hi all

I'm having a weird behavior with the right shift key and the numeric keypad. This happens when you use view 4 with PCoIP. When you use RDP to connect to a system and using the console in vSphere.

To illustrate the differences in the way he behaves, I typed the following string in an RDP session and a Console Session of vSphere.

    "@ @ 123 123.

^ Button '2' three times, three times, to left SHIFT + key '2' "123" on the top of the keyboard and 123 on the numpad + is offset to the right.

You see that, while in RDP, the right shift key does not work and so that the console session the num pad behaves like the arrows or the end, pg DN (aka acting like numlock is turned off)

VMWare tools are installed on the virtual machines in question. I tried to turn numlock on and off without a change in behavior.

No I don't think that the numeric keypad problem has been reported.  But I've now reported.  I'll let you know if we have other questions.

  • SHIFT key no longer works correctly

Just after the update for Sierra, my shift key don't work as it should. I can use it to make caps, so I know there is nothing wrong with the keyboard, but I can't use it for shortcuts in the programs.

For example, before I could hold shift and right-click to automatically collect some loot in WoW or use SHIFT and regular clicks to mark several emails. It doesn't work anymore and I have no idea where to start troubleshooting! The only thing Ive done so far is to restart my iMac did not help...

    Hey Lady.

We will try to reset the NVRAM first. Usually, who takes care of a lot of things after the upgrade of the Sierra.

Restart your Mac and hold down the command, Option, P, and R, which will reset the NVRAM.

Before you try to make sure that you really begin to press the 4 keys simultaneously in the command sequence first finger, the Option 2 finger, ring finger P and fourth finger R... only after having heard the startup chime. You will have to perhaps exercise to make this right if you can't do it right the first time. The idea is that, once you have all these 4 keys after hearing the first chime you always hold on the key and release just after hear you the second startup chime. And then after that it starts to make a restart more and then test the SHIFT key on your keyboard.

If it does not then I buy a secondary keyboard and test if it does the same thing.

The sounds you have a sticky key which is in the pressed state.

Do you mean the box tools that should open via Ctrl + Shift + K or open more to the Toolbox that is displayed via Ctrl + F2?

Try to press the keys involved several times, see the Web Developer menu for the shortcut keys.

Have you tried to close and restart Firefox or restart the computer?

  • I missed the SHIFT key and press several keys in the lower corner of my keyboard LH. Firefox split up into several iterations, and I had to reboot.

I missed the SHIFT key and press several buttons in the lower left corner of my keyboard. Firefox has lost the tab that I was using and divided into a separate iteration for each other (plus two I had closed). I could not recover and had to close all but one of them and restore all my tabs.

What I had done and how I should have recovered?

First, you need to update to Firefox 18.0.1 Firefox updated to the latest version. The version you are on is bug and little course.

Second, it looks like you may have entered groups of tabs. Use tab groups to organize a large number of tabs is that look familiar?
