The two shift keys have stopped working on my satellite

Hello

I have a problem with my shift keys; left and right have stopped working.
I have no idea if it's a hardware or software problem.

Any type of combination of key or software could disable them or it's a hardware problem?
If so, what should be the fix in both cases. If so...

Thanks in advance.

Maybe "StickyKeys" activated? Take a look in Control Panel-> accessibility

Disable it in release 'using the shortcut '.

What should I do to get this figured out.

    Hello Zelda_in_Texas,

If both SHIFT keys are the only keys with which you are having problems, it is more than likely a driver problem.
    1. If you click Start in Windows and in the empty space, type "Device Manager" and open it
    2. you should see a section "Keyboards", or you can find it under "Human Interface Devices"
    3. Once you find the reference of the keyboard, right-click on it, select "uninstall."
    4. after that he uninstall, restart your computer. It must reload the driver

Try this and tell me if it helps.

  • Portege R500 - ctrl keys have stopped working

    Hello

Two control keys have stopped working on my laptop. The fact that it is both of them gives to think that there isn't something physically wrong with the key. I can't do a ctrl + letter for example to copy, paste, select all, or again ctrl + alt + delete

Can anyone suggest how to recover these keys?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

A combination of keys that would disable the CTRL buttons does not for me.
But I recommend that you check the options of common keyboard as etc., FN + F12 FN + F10, Capslock, FN + F11

In addition, you could test the laptop with an external USB keyboard.
If the CTRL works using an external keyboard, this problem would be related to the hardware problem.

    Welcome them

Could u pls help me make these buttons still work?
I tried the Toshiba assist - optimize.

There are four fields to be filled - Description - parameter-Path - name of the button.

What should I put in the description and parameter fields? I'm ok with the path.

    Thank you to notify

You didn t write anything on your notebook series
What cell phone do you have?

For the most part the media buttons don t work because a driver problems (Toshiba control buttons). I had a similar problem with my laptop and I could solve it easily.
The reinstallation of the Toshiba and controls of Toshiba common Modules should help you recover the functionality of buttons.

Visit the page of European driver of Toshiba and download the mentioned drivers that belong to your notebook in the series.

Start-up applications to receive messages from windows that have stopped working. One of them is IE3SH application has stopped working. How can I fix it?

    Hi 9gonz9,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

You get this error message when you start the desktop computer?

You can check if the complete startup items are checked in the msconfig utility.

    1. open System Configuration by clicking Start , clicking Control Panel, clicking system and security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-click the System Configuration.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. click the Startup tab and check if all the items are archived there.

You can also run a bag of security for your computer and check if this solves the problem.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

If the problem persists, turn the computer in clean boot and check if all the background program is causing this error message. To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

The steps to perform a clean boot are given below:

    2. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue

    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)

    4. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all

Note: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use with existing restore points system restore utility

Once you start the office see if you get the error message. If not then follow the divide and conquer method mentioned in the article below to know which program is causing the problem.

For more information about the clean boot, follow the below given link:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    2. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    3. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Qosmio X 770-function keys have stopped working

The function keys on my 770 X stopped working.
The function keys and flash cards are OK. Around the same time, the problem started as a BIOS upgrade is out, but I can't be sure that it is exactly when the buttons stopped working 100%.

Other users have reported the same problem but I couldn't find a fix for this problem in previous posts.

    Does anyone have an answer?
It's as simple as the buttons being disabled by a setting of software that has been changed inadvertently and is it possible to find the real state of the software settings for the buttons?

    Thank you

    Hello

You mean the media buttons next to the switch?
Well, these buttons are controlled by VAP (value added package).

Uninstall the old package, restart the laptop, download the last PPV available from the page of the Toshiba driver and install it

    Should work!

  • Some keyboard keys have stopped working all of a sudden

    Hello world

Some of my keys on my laptop keyboard stopped working all of a sudden. I don't know if I accidentally pressed something or if it is something to do with the FN keys, but I'd love to help if someone might be able to!
    Keys does not:

Question mark and the slash key
the last letter of the alphabet key
    the arrow keys
and the 0 on the right side of the pad numbers

Doesn't that sound like something to do with some settings or my keyboard does not work

Thank you in advance for help! :)

I can't say for sure, but I think that it has nothing to do with the settings. It is unclear to me that there is an option where you can disable certain keys on the keyboard.
To be honest, I think it's a malfunction of the keyboard.

    > arrows
Enter the BIOS settings and check if these keys work in the BIOS.

  • Satellite C650 15Z two USB ports have stopped working / load

Hi can someone throw their professional opinion on a current problem I am experiencing with my

    Satellite C650 15Z
    Windows 7

There are 2 USB ports which are now both inoperative - there seems to be no power from them (ipad/phones do not charge) and any flash drive I insert does not appear as a drive in my computer
and I don't hear audible alerts or message pop ups after insertion. Like I don't know what I look in Device Manager, I thought that someone may be able to help here?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello

In Device Manager, you can try to delete and remove the USB host controller and USB hubs.
All these devices are responsible for the functionality of USB ports.
After you remove the USB host controller and USB hubs, restart the laptop.
Usually the Windows operating system should recognize the devices automatically deleted after that, you can check if the USB feature is back.

    Hello

Can you please tell us what OS you have?

Normally if the FN keys stop working you should try to reinstall Toshiba Value added Package. It control keys FN and other special functions and in my case reinstall this package has worked.

    You can download it here:

  • The right Shift key View 4 PCoIP/w and keypad does not work

    Hi all

I'm having a weird behavior with the right shift key and the numeric keypad. This happens when you use view 4 with PCoIP. When you use RDP to connect to a system and using the console in vSphere.

To illustrate the differences in the way he behaves, I typed the following string in an RDP session and a Console Session of vSphere.

    "@ @ 123 123.

^ Button '2' three times, three times, to left SHIFT + key '2' "123" on the top of the keyboard and 123 on the numpad + is offset to the right.

You see that, while in RDP, the right shift key does not work and so that the console session the num pad behaves like the arrows or the end, pg DN (aka acting like numlock is turned off)

VMWare tools are installed on the virtual machines in question. I tried to turn numlock on and off without a change in behavior.

No I don't think that the numeric keypad problem has been reported.  But I've now reported.  I'll let you know if we have other questions.
