Lemonade poured on y500 keyboard!

So an hour or two ago I spilled lemonade in a glass on my keyboard (about 100ml of this one I think)

Given that these models have a different design to the more traditional keyboards I was wondering what I should do / what could occur, this type of keyboard has a special protection against spills like the thinkpad?

He does not spend all of the keyboard, for most of the middle to the area of the keypad, but probably extend a little further until I wiped it off

Almost instantly after it happened I grabbed the nearest fabric and erased most of the lemonade of the keyboard, then I unplugged everything and put the laptop upside down

Then I did some research on my desk that says you have to remove the battery and turn it off also, so I don't have that (after 5 or 10 minutes after) before, then I got a little scared to turn it off haha

before I turned it off everything worked well but, I cleaned between keys and around the keyboard (so all that he was still upside down, this part is now completely dry, also, I shook the laptop a bit while he was upside down, and no liquid came out.

I also took the cd/dvd drive (into the ultrabay slot) which is directly under where the majority of spilled lemonade and it was completely dry, so I am very hopeful that not so much (if any) seeped through to the underside of the keyboard.

Anyway I left it battery engine turned off, unplugged and upside for the past hour, is there something else I can do or things that I shouldn't do, any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Good day and welcome to the community.

If you're comfortable working on laptops, you can retrieve your equipment manual: http://support.lenovo.com/en_FI/detail.page?DocID=UM016512

and look over the steps to pull the keyboard and bezel to search and clean infiltrations below. Sugar and acid are not too friendly. On the road, you may find that you end up needing a new keyboard, even if everything else is clean.

As for how long to keep the open machine and turned off with no power source attached (battery or sector) to allow complete drying, I saw recommendations of days hours vs.

Kind regards.

I though its maybe a problem with Windows 8, so I updated to windows 8.1, but the problem remains the same. Had no idea how to fix this or

How it happened. I went down ELAN touchpad, but touring (but perhaps still plug into the motherboard, plug off would work?).

Second thing, it is that my FN key does not work in 8.1 only the volume buttons work, but Fn + F6 or Fn + up arrow do not work and even I had no idea how to fix this.

  • Keyboard backlit Y500 does not work after installing Windows 7

Got a y500, love, installed Windows 7 (experience challenging, but glad I did now that it's done). Everything works like a charm, EXCEPT the backlight on the keyboard. By pressing FN + space does nothing. The keyboard does not blink when starting upwards, either.

After repeated calls to the line of Lenovo, the responses I get are simply: we don't know why the keyboard backlight lights with Windows 7 installed.

I don't want to go through the hassle to put Windows 8 on just for the backlight.

There must be a way to activate the backlight of the keyboard while running windows 7. Lenovo, can you please go to the top of the chain of command to those who are working on updates of pilot and see if there is a way to make it work? Or tell me if I do something wrong?

TL; Dr: keyboard backlight worked while Win 8 has been installed, put win 7 on, is no longer works.

I would check the cable connections, the most likely problem.

You can get a new keyboard on ebay for ~ $40... I'd rather spend than that being without my cell phone.

  • Re: Satellite P200 (PSPB6E) - keyboard problem

    Hello

I have a keyboard with Satellite P200, series PSPB6E problem.

Keyboard seems to generate Press Page Down constantly, although nothing has been paid to this subject.
It is even difficult to turn on laptop, because it produced consecutive beeps and prevents the computer from starting.

Sometimes some keyboard characters do not work, and in the second time it works. Sometimes same PgDown works as expected.
Œuvres for additional keyboard, but it also receives PgDown keyboard of the laptop.

Now, I can't insert any sentence in this post, because PgDown will move the cursor down.
Laptop is under warranty. Should I enable it?

I note that no. LIQUID is poured on the keyboard.

On the keyboard of the computer laptop not work keys A, B, N, LEFT SHIFT, INPUT, same brief moments where PgDown keys not dumping. Sometimes even these key works!

    Best regards

  • Satellite L350-24U: how to clean the keyboard after having poured orange juice

    Hello out there.
I spilled my L350-24U with Orange juice.
    Now, I have 4 keys to self-retaining :-(

Can someone tell me how to clean the keyboard without damaging the laptop?

    Thanks in advance.

Hmm, it's still a stupid situation
Usually you can remove the keyboard of the laptop very easily.
The keyboard is fixed with screws hidden under thin plastic cover near the line of F1 - F12 key.

If you would remove plastic this cover then you would be able to remove the screws as well. Then you could lift the keyboard carefully and could disconnect the flat cable of the keyboard and the motherboard.

Notes; two small latches on both sides of the connector must be moved in order to disconnect the cable.

Then you could remove the keyboard and could clean it with a damp lint.
PS: the caps can be removed too.
But be very careful. You must raise the CAP to get it for free.

There are many videos on youtube...

  • I poured the juice on my macbook air

So I poured the juice on my macbook there was not that much and I spilled juice on it before, but this time was different cos he really turned off that it self but anyway I panicked and I started to panic and I shook it and then I found online that you have to leave it on the keyboard side down and I did that for a bit and then I turned it on and it really works but then it shut down again once I gave it a little and then I switched back on it and it turned on again and I managed to put my password and he began loading but it stopped again. I tried to put it on the charger sometimes the charger light comes on for a bit and then turns off, but most of the time it is not even turn on at all. It was 18 hours as it happened and I thought I'd try to trigger the SMS but I don't know if it is possible that if I shake it the juice would spread. Please help me.

When the liquid comes in contact with the computer, you run the risk of the liquid made his way to the logic board. Once the logic board to get even a little wet, liquid will conduct electricity and short on parts of the Board as power is applied (start, restart, load, etc.)

It would be wise for you to have the MacBook evaluated to an Apple store or Apple authorized service provider.

  • my keyboard and the trackpad unresponsive

I have a macbook pro 2012. I can't type anything with his keyboard, it won't change the brightness using brightness key or caps lock light up in green when you press.

also, the trackpad does not meet the request or click on, I'm literally on a desktop keyboard and a mouse to do anything.

I had a look at the mother/logicboard map and saw that there was a very small fragment of black that had chipped and poured a small amount of dried up of liquid on the map itself, I think that maybe it's the issue task, no matter what you think?

    and wouldn't be expensive?

    Hello

It's been a few months that I have a problem with my Macbook Pro, indeed the trackpad doesn't work at all and the well-tempered clavier from time to time (duty to restart).

OS X El Captain version 10.11.5

I saw that Apple had released a patch pour these problems: this update is recommended pour MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, end 2013) models. It solves a problem of non-response of the keyboard and the trackpad multi-touch integrated.

But I can't install the update because it is no longer supported...

    Do you have a solution?

In the worst case, your motherboard or RAM module are dead. The tone at the beginning of the boot order is displayed, because detected a problem on the motherboard.
There are several times my girlfriend spilled a coke on my keyboard. Computer laptop didn t start and I thought that it s a serious issue, but I ve eliminated a RAM and Notepad starts very well.

  • Instructions to remove the keyboard of Satellite S855

My friend poured water over his S855 keyboard and the computer does not work. As this voids the warranty, I wanted to remove the keyboard, dry the unit and inspect/test for damage. I have worked on many laptops, but am not able to understand how to remove the keyboard of this particular model.

Can anyone provide detailed instructions as how to remove the keyboard? It would be much appreciated!

  • Cleaning keyboard Satellite A50

I spilled a bit of lemonade on my cursor keys and now down and arrow right key-contacts are stuck. What causes some of the other keys malfunction too. When I press em I hear a soft "beep" that says something like "strikes occupied, is no longer possible." So I need to clean the contacts.

How can I remove the keyboard to clean?

    Hi Kelly,

Rather than delete on your keyboard I would suggest that you remove the covered white keys from the keys stuck (with care, they are easy to break) and then spray a very small amount of contact electrical cleaner on them. You can then manipulate the key mechanism to try to free stuck contacts. Once they are free, replace the key top.

Do not feed on your laptop until the cleaner contact is completely evaporated.

    I hope someone can help.

I have a M30, and weeks I poured milk on the keyboard. Everything was fine and then recently I started having problems when the screen started to scroll continuously until you press ESC.

Now both times the keys H and N cause the cursor to fall at the end of the page. I've done some countless virus and controls ad aware and even connected an external keyboard and the problem still remains. I also uninstalled the keyboard, mouse and touchpad.

  • HP Envy 15 k046nd: Envy 15 k046nd how to remove the keyboard (shift of collage and key)

    Hi all

    Short version:

Does anyone know how to remove a single key on the keyboard without breaking? (or if it is still possible) I tried some things, but have failed.

    Long version:

Unfortunately, I spilled lemonade on my keyboard last week. I cleaned it all that quickly, and nothing is technically wrong. But after 2 days some keys on my keyboard started to stick very bad, especially the entrance and the shift key. They still work, but it's very annoying. I have tried lifting below them and cleaning, but that has not worked, and I also can't get down them. I looked for a way to replace the keyboard, but I have to essentially take the computer laptop all apart + it's expensive. I hope someone can tell me how to down the different keys without breaking!

    Thank you

    Leon

    Hi there @leonsmits,

Welcome to the HP support community! I read your post and wanted to tender hand can help you! I read that you want to remove the keys of the keyboard because they hold and you want to clean.

If a key is physically stuck in the down position, you should not replace your laptop. Many keyboards have keys that can be removed by inserting a knife to butter under one edge of the button and gently lifting upward on the upper and lower edge. Please NOTE: To avoid damaging the cushion under the key, insert the knife to butter only 1/8 of an inch under the edge of the key

After having removed the key, using a buffer with alcohol, clean the underside of the key and the key on the keyboard slot. Put the key in the snapping it back in place.

Here is a document for you called portable keyboard troubleshooting. There is a section in this document, called a laptop key stuck. This section will help you to guide you how to clean these keys.

If the keyboard doesn't have keys that can be removed, you may need to replace the keyboard or laptop service.

    Hello h,.

I suggest you to bring your machine to a local service partner, or at least by a technician who is familiar with toshiba laptops, because your question looks quite related to the material.
