LENOVO Y500 CADDY FOR SSD

I WANT TO INSTALL THE SSD IN LENOVO Y500. FOR THIS I NEED SSD CADDY. AS I AM IN INDIA, I AM UNABLE TO FIND IT ANYWHERE. PLEASE SOMEONE PLACE A LINK WHERE I CAN FIND IN INDIA. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I SHOULD INSTALL SSD IN THE ULTRABAY SLOT OR HARD DRIVE IN THE ULTRABAY FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE HOUSING.

Hi arshi_poudel,

Welcome to the community,

I would recommend you search on sites like eBay and others, you should be able to locate one without delay.

In accordance with the recommendation, although a SSD will always be the first choice.

I want to add an SSD for my laptop and remove the DVD - rw because I never use it.

Are you sure that something like this exists for your laptop satellite?

  • DV7 - 1253ca: a caddy for SSD work?

I have a dv7 - 1253ca and have tried to put an SSD in the second drive Bay without a shopping cart, but Win7 does not even recognize the drive is there. Do I need a cart for laptop to recognize the second disk?

DV7-1000 has no cable there are SATA connectors on the motherboard in the Bay. The hard/SSD drive plugs directly on the motherboard. If you put the reader into the connectors properly and it is not seen by the BIOS, then there is a problem with the drive or the motherboard.  If Windows does not detect the drive it may just be it is empty and must be 'initialized' i.e. partitoned and formatted.

  • Replace HDD SSD Lenovo Y500 Guide?

Hello everyone I'm going to keep it is as simple as possible. I would trade my HDD in my Lenovo Y500 with a 1 TB SSD. My Y500 has the 16 GB of cache if that helps. I think it's a 2.5 "HDD but what kind. What is an mSata or Sata?

The physical installation, I can do easily, but what is the best way to backup and transfer things to the SSD?

I'm pretty decent with computers and I have some knowledge on this operation. I would like to transfer all my SSD HARD drive this includes the OS(windows 8) and all the other necessary components. I would do it with a DVDR that is 4.6 GB I think. It's a brand new computer, so I have no files, docs etc that I have to worry.

Please can someone answer my questions I would really appreciate the help of the community.

Please post a guide step by step for me and others to use!

    Thanks a ton

I found it easier to use an mSATA replacing the 16 GB one with a 256 GB SSD version. It runs at 6 Gbps.

Windows 8, I have installed from a copy retail DVD instead of imaging on the 1 TB drive. The activation key for Windows 8 is built in your bios. Windows automatically detected 8 mine installed without asking for it and active without problem.

  • Updated Lenovo Y500 DSLR editable in CS6?

    Hi all

I have been a reader for a long time in this great forum.

I read most posts go-to leave the gurus here as a prejudice on the portable edition and its pitfalls.

However, I am a full time student support and shift my time around much so I still need a portable editing solution.

In addition, my budget is around $1500 USD.

That said, I think I found the cell phone of choice in a upgrade/modded Lenovo Y500.

    http://www.Amazon.com/Lenovo-IdeaPad-59359560-I7-3720QM-2-6GHz/DP/B00BWSCX0E/

    Processor: Core i7 3720QM

    RAM: 16 GB

GPU: GT 650 M 2 GB DDR5 (via the hack of CUDA)

Storage: SSD 240 GB, 1 TB 7200 RPM + room for more

Screen: 15.6 "iced (wish is Matt)

Cooling: This is one 15.6 cases "more ventilated with no CPU/GPU limitation.

Later down the line, I'll get an extra HARD drive caddy and replace the second GPU, but that will have to wait for the budget.

(I know CS6 will not benefit from SLI, but they are available only through Amazon with two GPUS)

I will work with most Canon DSLR images.

Also some AVCHD in the future, perhaps?

What is the likelihood is this machine to manage these codecs at full resolution in CS6?

    Thanks in advance.

    David

    David,

The link Amazon you gave says nothing about the resolution of the screen. I hope it is 1920 x 1080. If this is the case it looks like a good laptop for your needs and fits your budget. A typical case of Serendipity.

  • Lenovo Y500 does not start

    Hello

I've had my y500 ideapad for a few years now. One day, my computer froze completely in normal operation. I had to hold the power button to do a manual stop. After that, my computer will not turn back. When I try to start it, I see a black screen, not even the Lenovo Logo. After 30 seconds, there is a single issue of the computer. Thirty seconds later, the fan turns as if under load, then a bit later, the fan to calm down and the computer will beep again. At this point, I can adjust the brightness of the backlight keyboard, activate the backlight of the screen in and out and the lock LEDs Num Lock shift on the job before, but I can't do anything else.

I tried to connect an external monitor to see if it's just a screen problem, but it doesn't produce any signal on the screen. Important, the same thing happens also when I try to boot in the BIOS using the Novo or F2 button.

I discovered that by leaving the computer unplugged with the battery for a long time, I can sometimes get it to display the lenovo logo and then start to boot windows. However, he gets as far as the windows 10 logo then goes black and finally beeps, as shown above. It will not fully start in the operating system. The time it takes between the work is around 5 minutes unplugged for a few hours.

I tried the stock bios flashing (using a USB bootable BACK player) and eventually managed to Flash the bios, but the problem persists. In the rare cases where the computer starts up, I can get to the bios, but as soon as I reboot, it goes back to the black screen.

I also tried holding down the power button while up to a minute while the computer is disconnected without battery. This seems to have no effect on the amount of time it takes between two attempts to start succesfull.

So is - anyone help me? From what I've seen, the problem seems to be deeper than the bios (as evidenced by no change after the flash bios). What I can do about it, or I'm on a laptop?

I finally diagnosed it as the video card. After I reinstalled windows, the computer starts normally and work, but the video card is turned. No video, blue lines outside the screen. I ordered a replacement motherboard, which is about the only way to fix it if you encounter the same problem that I am. Do not know what started the error if. Could have gotten just old.

  • Cannot change HDD or password user on lenovo y500

Hi guys, I have Lenovo y500 SLI, i7 3630 8 GB ram, 1 TB HARD drive with the propulsion system of hybrid 16ssd. BIOS 1.05 version

The only problem I have is that I put my bios password and after the HARD drive password. so whenever I start the computer after restart for example, I write my passwords. I put the same password for everything, so it's easy. The only problem I have is that I can not change or cancel the password. has or user. When I try, bios tells me.

system can disable alone or by the administrator, the password clear user or master password - continue.

and I can change only the password of the user, but cannot delete it. and set HARD drive password is gray, can not enter. I want to sell my laptop, but the buyer wants the HARD drive password to... remove all solutions? its really strange. In other laptops, it's easy, just together old password, then press enter on the empty space and the password is gone. but not here, what should I do? Thank you

Now, I had the chance to create the same environment as your in an insydeH20 BIOS.

It will allow you to change your administrator password as you type your user password to enter the BIOS. This is why you are not able to change or remove your administrator password or master password, since you will not have privileges to modify those with a user password.

When you enter the BIOS, please use your administrator password, you will be able to remove passwords

  • Portege Z930 - need of external controller for SSD drive internal

My Board TOSHIBA Portege (ex-portable) (Z930) burned with hot water. I removed the small SSD and now need to transfer the data with a USB drive on another PC.

I borrowed from a friend a SATA USB adapter with 2 interfaces and even small connectors for SATA was not small enough for SSD from TOSHIBA. Apparently, I need a special SATA USB adapter that installs on TOSHIBA Portege mSata.

The reason why I wrote here is because there are many SATA USB adapters in internet advertised, but it seems that they have larger connectors. While TOSHIBA calls the marked thereon mSATA SSD, but several people call mSATA for one size larger SSD.

I don't want to order that something does not again. Is there someone who already removed SSD Portege?
Could you give me a link for such adapter?

The laptop was equipped with a chip HM77 Intel Panther Point and with the launch of the Intel chip allowed laptop manufacturers to integrate SSD form factor mSATA (micro SATA).

There is also a difference between the mSATA form factors
The mSATA being limited to four chips (NAND) only, Intel has developed a new standard mSATA called m2 or mSATA2.

In many cases, this is also called NGFF (new generation form factor)
This standard m2 is longer and has more low a profile

I'm not sure if this Z930 Portege supports mSATA or mSATA2, but you check the internal SSD drive where this information should be available

    Hey,.

I think that the best place to get this a HARD drive caddy is an authorized service provider. The guys are able to order all spare parts Toshiba so they can check what the good caddy, etc.. I think that it s best option for you because so you can be 100% sure you get the right part.

In addition here he s here, only a user to user forum so no one can post the part numbers.

And by the way: list of ASP, you can find here:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

    Good luck! :)

For w10pro c: / recommend reinstall to ssd or migrate ssd or even is...?

SSDS all have sons the same size and holes threaded on the bottom and sides.  They all use the same fine metric threads live short (short, so they don't lower).  These screws must come with the adapter, and I live in general using the lateral holes.  Parts of the adapter have threaded, 3 holes and you will use the back ahead and away from those for channels of the drive Bay.  If you look at each side of a standard 3.5 "HDD, you will see the same same spacing holes.

Some jobs need the SSD to shift to the left so the orientation of the SSD SATA power and data ports match exactly where they would be if the current drive was a 3.5 "HARD drive clutter.  An example is the drive in a Z620 of drawers which accept 3.5 form factor devices "and slides of drawers in the deep part of the case and automatically mesh with ports of power/data SATA back inside.

Jobs that fuel just a loose cable and the data cable for the SSD is really doesn't matter much if the SSD is an adapter which keeps it more centered or offset to the left.  I've seen cases where a disk HARD 3.5 "given in the lower Bay and a centered SSD is in the upper drive Bay and there was nearly not enough cable length to reach easily shifted left for drives staggered in the Center.  You can see in the photo below that the Garland of feeding on the HARD drive has two unused SATA power below connectors, and there is not a lot of room between them.

The card you chose seems good... solid metal.  For the HP 8200 Elite CMT I have access to screws 4 total special 6-32 UNC silver HP threaded screw threaded back ahead and away from the screw holes on both sides of the adapter, and then you use the extraordinary end threads metric short screws mentioned above to fix the SSD to the adapter, as shown in the pictures of Amazon.  These HP silver screw 6-32 no metric I'm talking using Torx or flat screwdriver and their leaders are trained to slip into the channels of the drive Bay.

There are also other designs which are designed specifically for some HP workstations that include mounts insulation rubber with the sliding mechanism.  I don't think you have that... Here is a picture of eBay one of the 8200 Desktop Elite CMT demonstrating the existence of space on the left for 8 of these silver screw to store, which 4 are missing and used on 3.5 "single drive, you see there.  Don't throw those... they are not something, you can go to Ace hardware and buy.

  • HPM9265: HPM9265 AHCI support for SSD

Y at - it a reliable update for the 'Intel Matrix Storage manager Option ROM v 7.6.6.1002 ICH9R' which will allow my SSD running with AHCI?

    You are the very welcome.

Trim is not supported in your PC, as it is.

Unfortunately, I do not know what the consequences are for not having not TRIM support.

I cannot say if adding a third party sata controller would be better than what you have now.

There are several different cards to choose from, but which is the right one for the scenario that you are?

I have seen that some say 'support for SSD.

    Who didn't tell me much.

Some people say that the PCIe x 1 slot slows down the drive.  Others say it's faster.

  • Use of the COMPENSATOR for SSD

Can someone enlighten me on how to use the TRIM for my SSD function? According to Windows, the TRIM is enabled. What I need to know, is if it is a function that is called and executed automatically by the system? Or is this something that I need to manually call as a routine preventive maintenance (similar to the use of defragment)? Thanks for any advice.

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

Useful information for SSD users with NVIDIA motherboards:

Even if the Trim is enabled in Windows 7, mothers nForce NVIDIA cards do not send the order to the SSD TRIM.

You can uninstall the well Nvidia controller in Device Manager and install the controller IDE from Microsoft, that allows to send commands to COMPENSATION for SSDS.

Head to the Device Manager (menu start open, type Device Manager), and click on "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" and you will see 3 Nvidia Serial ATA Controllers. Right click on one of them and click on 'Properties' and go to the tab 'Pilot' 'Update Driver '. Click on "Browse my computer", then "Let me choose". You will see the option to choose "Standard dual channel PCI IDE Controller". Click this button and click on 'Next' and let it install.

Do the same for the other Nvidia controllers in Device Manager, and then restart your system. After you have installed the controllers, you will be asked to restart again.

SSD will have now a slight performance gain with the TRIM command, and ordinary hard drives also have a slight increase as well.

I have an ASUS P5N - D 750i SLI motherboard and now my Trim actually works.

OK status is just based on SMART data. If the values remain well within the defined thresholds, it will say that everything is fine, even if the player was on fire.

You aren't the first to this problem. I see all these 16 GB SSD used to die hiding after 3 to 6 months of use. If it's under warranty be replaced...
