[linux] 100% I/O load by vmware-vmx (pictures?)

Hello

I'm running x 86 windows xp as a guest on x 86 opensuse 11.4 as host and vmware player causes i/o to ~ 100% with processes like this:

13442 be/4 root      744.93 K/s    0.00 B/s  0.00 % 85.67 % vmware-vmx -ssnapshot.numRollingTiers=0 -sRemoteDisplay.vnc.enabled=FALSE -s vmx.stdio.keep=TRUE -# product=8;name=VMware Player;version=4.0.0;buildnumber=471780;licensename=VMware Player;licenseversion=6.0; -@ pipe=/tmp/vmware-root/vmx16d9525b1f8e4be7;readyEvent=29 /root/Virtual_Machines/venda/Windows XP Professional.vmx

and disc total write 1000-3000 K/s, resulting in a system almost unusable (thanks to 12309).

I have no swap system coz my amount of RAM allows (total of 12 GB and 2 GB dedicated to windows prompt).

comment system has disabled too much paging (swap) file.

Googling a bit revealed to me that there are a few "shots" that are made automatically by the player, and that might cause these high i/o, so the question is - how to disable these clichés? I don't worry about losing my job or something coz I make backups of client hard disks manually.

If the problem is not in the snapshots, otherwise, how could fix this huge I/O by player?

I experienced this problem in all versions of reader, same 4.0.

Thanks in advance.

This is your/etc/vmware/config

installerDefaults.dataCollectionEnabled = 'no '.
installerDefaults.componentDownloadEnabled = 'yes '.
installerDefaults.transferVersion = '1 '.
installerDefaults.autoSoftwareUpdateEnabled = 'no '.

the problem should go away if you add

prefvmx.useRecommendedLockedMemSize = 'true '.
prefvmx.minVmMemPct = "100".

If it does not also help add

mainmem.backing = 'name '.

the last of them is expensive - you pay this one with loss of performance.

Your best option is to add swap space

Edit: red line was an error - now it's ok

  • Files in the folder Server - vmware-vmx - zdump.000

    Afternoon guy,

    I have two files zdump in one of my servers folder. I know that these types of files are created when there is something wrong with the server. I have server went through a bit of a rough when patch it drive and the data store ran out of space. This has been fixed now.

    I would like to know if I can go and delete files without causing problems on the server? Also if I can delete the files should it be done when the server is down?

    ESX 3.5

    VI 2.5 client

    VMware-vmx - zdump.001 - 60,00 KB

    VMware-vmx - zdump.000 - 10 244,00 KB

    Thank you very much

    André

    The files are created in case of error. They are not currently in use and not necessary for the ESX host or virtual machine to operate and can be deleted without closing anything.

  • VMware-vmx, this who-is that?

    I'm running Vista-32 (all keys) with the latest version of Fusion, under Leopard 10.5.8

    My VM production were suspended these last time (which seems to be associated with Outlook 2007) and I'll try to understand what is happening.

    In the meantime, the only way to get the 'unhung"is to force out the VMware-vmx in the activity monitor.

    The problem here is that I'm running several virtual machines and therefore cannot distinguish what VMware-vmx is associated with what VM. As you can imagine, I often end up force - quit VM wrong!

    Is there a way to know who is a partner at what VM VMware-vmx?

    Appreciate any help...

    I don't know if you can get Activity Monitor tell you this, but if you go to a Terminal and do

    ps auwwx | grep vmware-vmx

    you get a list of vmware-vmx process, complete with launch arguments (which includes the path to the virtual machine).

  • BT stack file TosBTMng.Exe generates 100% of CPU load

    I am also facing the problem that the Toshiba Bluetooth Manager (TosBtMng.exe) very often starts a loop and causes a 100% CPU load.

    This has happened with older versions of the Toshiba Bluetooth stack and the current version (5.1.0.12).

    The affected system is a Tecra S1, BT-Modul and Windows XP SP2.

    BT battery installation went well and the laptop starts succesfull while BT is enabled. I also checked for hidden COM-Ports and other tips in this forum, without success.

    Blocking seems to occur at different times. Sometimes just after are restarted, by clicking on the tray icon of BT with the right button of the mouse. Then the context menu is shown all too the white box, no entries. He can also try to connect to a device already associated. If I kill the process with the Task Manager, I can restart and he continues to work for a while.

    As found in another thread here, I enabled the registration of the API of the Bluetooth Manager and found the following when connecting with the Nokia PC Suite for my mobile phone:

    Call the 00042519 21:55:05 [7208] (TosBtAPI / PCCSTBTP) BtCreateCOMM()-> BtCreateCOMM2()

    A new COM port is created successfully (COM23) and a few seconds later the CPU of TosBtMng load goes up to 100%, but no API calls are made. And if you wait long enough the phone are connected and data can be transferred. However, very slowly.

    Probably because of the high CPU load a next port COM (COM24) will be created some time later and this process is then repeated once again:

  • RT FIFO results in 100% of cpu load?

    Hello

    I am trying to replace some RT-FIFO queues on a target of cRIO9074 (via LV2011), which should be fairly easy because the API is very similar for both:

    This example VI works for sure: the lower loop puts an I32 in the FIFO every 100ms, the upper loop must wait before trying to read a new element of the "timeout" (the value 50ms) FIFO. For this example the upper loop should run (roughly) 2 - 3 times for each iteration of the lower loop because of 50ms timeout.

    The problem I have is: it shows 100% cpu load and I don't understand why he says:

    Where this example VI does not burn 100% cpu load? The RTFIFORead question just the current state of the FIFO?

    Have you checked whether a time-out to > 100ms also creates 100% CPU load?

    Please note that create the FIFO provides the configuration of reading and writing for the vote against blocking. See Help for more information.

  • X230t win 8 battery 100% and maintains load

    Hello

    I am running Windows 8 on my X230t. All drivers are up-to-date of Lenovo (using system update 5).

    I don't use a lot of my battery. I've used several times in the past without problem. However, today, I charged my battery about 70%, and when he reached 100%, he wouldn't charge. I tried to use another AC adapter, restart the computer, remove the battery discharge and then recharge the battery, but nothing worked. The electric windows icon sayins 100%, hip, charge. Green also the charge status LED indicates that the battery is charging. This happens even when the computer is completely shut down. Don't know what to try next.

    Furthermore, I installed all drivers Lenovo & software for Windows 8 power management, but the typical Lenovo Power Manager with the thresholds of load custom does not appear on my computer. I have only access to the Windows default power manager. I don't know if the crib Lenovo Power just does not work on my computer or if Lenovo has not yet release a power manager for the X230T running Windows 8.

    Thanks for any help!

  • 100% high CPU load and memory usage

    Hi all

    My company bought a new appliance IPS 4510 and after initial installation, I see that the CPU load and memory is 100%. The device is not in a production network. Is this normal or there is a hardware problem? Enjoy a Counselor about it.

    Concerning

    Christine

    Hi Damien,.

    It is actually normal behavior for an IPS sensor.

    To measure the actual load of an IPS sensor, you will want to monitor the "percentage load treatment" of the analytical engine that processes all inspection processing for the sensor.

    You can view these statistics by using the command 'display the scan statistics-engine '.

    Also, the sensor running version 7.0000 E4 5,0000 E4 (or later version), you can check the load percentage value Inspection displayed by the command "Display inspection-load" in its place.

    Hope that answers your query.

  • VMWare Workstation 12 and 18 of Linux Mint (Ubuntu 16.04) and vmware tools or open-vmware-tools

    I created a new virtual machine using VMWare Workstation 12.1.1 build-3770994 with a guest OS from Linux Mint 18 (which is built on top of Ubuntu 16.04). I have two monitors on my system, the two 2560 x 1440. I am unable to get this virtual machine Linux Mint 18 to cover all of my two monitors when I disable "Accelerate 3D graphics" in my vm settings, I get an error. I have another Linux Mint 17 VM running on the same VMWare Workstation 12 on the same host machine from Windows 10 and it is able to expand on my two monitors very well with "Accelerate 3D graphics" disabled, but he does not open-vmware-tools.

    I have read instructions telling me to install open-vm-Tools-Office in this guest operating system of Linux Mint 18. I did it. Then I restart the guest operating system. When starting, I can click on 'Enter full screen mode' in my menu of VMWare Workstation, and the guest OS has a monitor as expected. When I then click on "Cycle multiple monitors", I get the following error. "The virtual machine could not be changed to the selected screen layout. If you add a monitor to the host computer, you must turn off and turn on the virtual machine to use this monitor. »

    vmware-monitors-error.jpg

    I can optimize my VM to automatic adjustment, only one of my two screens, but not both. I tried to uninstall and reinstall open-vm-tools, open-vm-tools-desktop and restart. I tried to use /vmware-tools-distrib/vmware-install.pl's original vmware tools and who does not work either.

    In my vmware.log, I get these two lines that occur when I get the above error.

    2016 07-12 T 15: 43:19.068 - 06:00 | MKS | I125: ToolsSetDisplayTopology: send rpcMsg = 1 DisplayTopology_Set, 0 0 2560 1440

    2016 07-12 T 15: 43:24.853 - 06:00 | vCPU-1 | I125: TOOLS of the call to DisplayTopology_Set failed.

    When I activate "Accelerate 3D graphics" with the configuration described above, I am able to use both of my monitors. Why is this the case?

    I think remember having to disable "Accelerate 3D graphics" in my Linux Mint 17 comments vm because it would crash randomly. I try to run this VM Linux Mint 18 with 3D acceleration and see if it crashes, but why is there a difference with spanning multiple monitors?

    Thank you.

    I didn't experience this problem for a few weeks. I don't have a definitive answer to my original problem.

    I installed Mate instead of cinnamon 3 to my MINT 18. Then, I created a new VM with Ubuntu Gnome 3 16.04 running as the OF. I did have problems with both approaches. I also tried using Firefox as my main browser instead of Chrome, as I read that Chrome can have problems of memory. It could be a combination of several of these changes that have allowed me to work without problems.

    Knowing what I know now, I think the move away from cinnamon 3 is what seems to have fixed my problems. I can certainly say that you use Firefox consumes less memory, as I can monitor the monitor system under Ubuntu. Chrome would eventually eat all my system memory, that I could see. The extent of the why? I'm not sure at this point.

  • Error loading of VMWare vSphere Client

    Hey guys, I'm a newbie in the world of VMWare and just live my first problem.

    My system was installed by a third party 3rd which, due to uncontrollable circumstatnces, is not accessible at this time.  So, I'm trying to see if someone can have a resolution for me.

    I use ESX 4.  When I open the vSphere client application and enter my login details, I get the heap following errors:

    The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

    This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

    Fatal error VMware Remote Console: (player)

    SSLLoadSharedLibrary: Could not load library libeay32.dll:126

    The last error writes a dump file.

    This app worked perfectly all the time.  The problem started while I was on a business trip last week.  I suspect that some type of update (Microsoft, Java, etc.) is probably what is causing this problem.

    I tried to re-register the dll files, but it has not made a difference.  I would love to re - install the app, as suggested, but I am currently unable to find that the download on the VMware site.

    I'm just curious if anyone has any suggestions, or possibly the location of downloads?

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve

    Open a web browser and enter the address of the ESX host or vCenter - which will take you to a page where you can download the client

    1st guess - controller/s in your machine are not compatible, I had the same thing on a Board Abit old. Did you check the HCL & http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/Hardware_support.php

    OK, we have a solution in queue for the next version of patch to fix this problem.

    It turns out that the newer versions of Windows 10 will sometimes assign S.M.A.R.T. orders to SATA devices even when the device reports that it doesn't support s.m.a.r.t. and the unexpected controls are confused our SATA emulation and leading to the error you see.

    The fix will simply ignore unexpected S.M.A.R.T. orders.

    I can't say exactly when we'll have the update in your hands, but I hope that it will be quite fast.  Sorry for the inconvenience you've all met!

    Thank you
