  Documentation has information contradictory to decide or not to install the Agent of Linux Journal Insight on a version to 6U1 vCenter device.

  Within the Insight v3.0.1 journal the following statement indicates the Agent Insight of the newspaper must be installed:

  

  In the documentation of Log Insight 3.0 the following shows it takes to just install the syslog server in vCenter to transmit to the server of Log Insight.  No mention of the version of vCenter and no mention of the installation of the Agent of the Linux Journal Insight on the vCSA.

  

  So I turn to google, which only adds to the confusion...

  William Lam blog «a glimpse of native syslog support in VCSA 6.0» presents Preview setup of vCSA version 6 transfer of syslog logs and Log Insight.

  However, Steve Flanders blog ' newspaper the Agent: Linux Configurations for Common Applications " refers to the installation of the Agent of Linux Journal Insight.

  Anyone would provide clarification?  Is there a better method of practice?  If the Agent installation is the best practice that the agent provides on the native syslog in vCSA v6U1?

  Two books - the goal is just to get syslog to LI. The reason why LI says that you must use the agent is that vSphere content pack, and more particularly the dashboard "vCenter Server - Application" requires that the agent is stopped working. If you use syslog-ng, you will always receive the events, but this dashboard vSphere content pack will not work. I hope this helps!

  I bought a Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 Ubuntu version because I like Ubuntu linux more than Windows.

  I can't find the linux drivers that will allow my Nvidia GT 950 M graphics so, basically, the card useless and no power management.
  There is absolutely nothing for Ubuntu Linux on your drivers page.

  I have updated to the latest BIOS A03.

  The laptop's Ubuntu Logo sticker on it next to the Intel i7 so I thought it is totally compatible.

  Optimus system and at the present time, it is not properly supported under Linux, there is work in progress for him, but for a workaround, see Bumblebee project: wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee

  Description a little longer: you have two graphics - integrated (Intel) and discreet (Nvidia). Optimus systems are designed with the intention to use the GPU integrated tasks that requires no graphic heavy treatment (most of the day-to-day activities) and the use of the discrete GPU for applications requiring more powerful GPU. Integrated card is less eager for power and voltage GPU discreet when not in service allows cooler use.

  Normally you use integrated card and there is no way to use the card nvidia directly if the BIOS does not switch to it. Help Optimus allows to use the Nvidia card for rendering and power down to save power when not in use. It has not been official for Optimus of Nvidia Linux support. Bumblebee is a community created project attempting to address the issue, but it is really only a workaround until the solution has been created. FIRST is such a solution, but at present it is still experimental and is not in any version of Ubuntu, more it is officially supported only in the open drivers source (new), Nvidia has not yet validated supporting in their binary driver.

  I agree that Dell support for bids Linux pages are sorely lacking, in fact I was not able to locate a page describing their Linux pre-installs. Ubuntu certification pages are not really informative on Dell changes and upgrade policy.

  Hi all

  I downloaded the VMware converter tryware version, to see if we can use this tool to create virtual machines from existing industrial PC.

  We intend to make a test remote backup to a XP to a laptop machine (to keep mobile in an industrial environment)

  I installed you VMware converter and disabled the firewall on both machines.

  I also disabled the network drives that are shared on the remote computer.

  When data powered the remote computer has been entered (ip address, username, PW, BONE family) and press us Next, the pop-up appears to deploy the Agent of Standalone converter.

  If you press 'Yes' to continue, after a minute or two the following message appears:

  -Converter Standalone Agent installation failed, error code: 1601 -.

  Can someone tell me what this error code means and how I can fix this error?

  Windows Installer error 1601 = The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. Contact your support team to verify that the Windows Installer service is properly registered.

  Additionally, make sure that the appropriate ports are open to allow the Windows agent to settle.

  Alternatively, you can manually install the converter on the remote system agent... and then try to restart the conversion (then there is no need to install anything).

  I try to install configure the management agent on a few nodes of the RAC on Windows Server 2003 64-bit. I installed the agent on other hosts before, but not on clusters. Installation seems to be pretty simple, YES the other nodes automatically detects and installs on them. However, when I do the installation of cluster, I am never invited to the agent registration page register with the administration server. He's asking the host name of the server and port, but never the password. Then the agent installs and starts the service, he is never seen by the administration server.
  Has anyone encountered this before? Is it possible to save it now, or should I just try to reinstall manually?

  This is an expected on windows cluster behavior, registration of the agent will not be asked.

  I've got 4.5 HPDM Rev B installed. If I now run the "Update Agent" task on a client, it installs Version 4.4. However: If I check my master repository (I kid No. repositories), I see the 4.5 version it...

  So why doenst Version 4.5 to install on the Client?

  (I know: 4.5 Rev B is NOT the latest version of HPDM, but I can't imagine that's the problem...)

  There was a 'feature' in V4.5 who 'forgot' to update the agent files. I hope that you have installed V4.5 using the original version which had this function.

  I suggest strongly to download and install SP4 V4.5 because it corrects this problem and a few others as well.

  The V4.5 and Ms are ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/hpdm/Software/4.5/ that all MS are cumulative, so that you can install SP4 straight on V4.5.

  There is also the chance that your FTP repository is the default not in V4.4. * and now the default in version 4.5. * This could mean that installation of version 4.5 updated in one place, but customers are always pulling respiratory FTP elsewhere.

  Please perform the installation of SP4 V4.5 first and then report.

  There is a patch for version 4.1.4. 4.1.4 ACS must be installed before you install this hotfix.

  1. make sure that Cisco Secure ACS Agent 4.1.4.13 is installed.

  2. extract the files NTlib.dll, CSLogAgent.exe, CSAgent.exe, CSWinAgent.exe, NAS.dll, ConsoleDLL.dll, csvLog.dll, EndPoint.dll & odbcLogger.dll of Acs - 4.1.4.13.16 - RA.zip

  3. stop the Cisco Secure ACS Agent service.

  4 locate CiscoSecure ACS Agent\bin and save a copy of the course NTlib.dll, NAS.dll, CSAgent.exe, CSLogAgent.exe, CSWinAgent.exe & EndPoint.dll

  5 copy the files NTlib.dll, CSLogAgent.exe, CSWinAgent.exe & EndPoint.dll extracted zip CiscoSecure ACS Agent\bin, NAS.dll, CSAgent.exe

  6 locate CiscoSecure ACS Agent\Support and save a copy of the current ConsoleDLL.dll, csvLog.dll & odbcLogger.dll

  7. ConsoleDLL.dll, csvLog.dll & odbcLogger.dll copy extract the files from the zip to CiscoSecure ACS Agent\Support

  6. start the Service Agent secure Cisco.

  Analysis of RHEL, if the only metric does not accumulate you is info network, you must first make sure that account permissions are sufficient to allow RHEL to give you data on the network.  Try to change the account that you collect with an equivalent of root and then see if you get the data you need.

  This is a 'feature' in RHEL, not a limitation of Foglight.

• Agent installation causes stale vmtools

  I have several virtual machines of Win7 with the same problem. Although they have the same version of vmware tools like the esxi they keep showing the vm tools are obsolete. This issue appeared after installing the agent on the horizon. I uninstalled both of them and re-installed to them, but the question remains. I checked that vmware KB (KB VMware: VMware Tools shows a status update on your desktop from view after the installation of the Agent from the view ) but as you can see from the screenshots below, I installed a 6.0.1 version of the agent of the horizon and the monolithic version on the virtual machines are 9.7.2 and not 9.4.6 or even 9.4.5. If anyone else has this problem?

  I think it would be a great blow to VMware, especially with the evolution of cloud computing and the shift towards Web applications that would eliminate the need for a Windows operating system for many users. • See 4.6, no Option of Agent composer Agent Installation...

  When we try to install the Agent from the view on our vm office to serve as the Parent virtual machine for our composer vm, the Agent of the composer is not an option on the installation.

  We are using VMware-viewagent-x86_64 - 4.6.0 - 366101.exe.  I also tried the Installer 4.5 VMware-viewagent-x86_64 - 4.5.0 - 293049.exe and I got the same result.  The only options are:

  PCoIP Server

  PCoIP smart card

  I tried to install the Agent with all the features available, but the composer vm is created from this image has resulted in an error:

  Please ensure that you have VMware installed on your agent machine tools.

  If Vmware tools is not present in the VM agent, install will not view composer and related components.

  To install VMware tools, right click on the VM-> comments-> installation/upgrade VMware Tools. Reboor the virtual machine and proceed with the installation of the Agent from the view.

  We have a problem where by we have a PC running Windows XP with player installed on it.  Then, build us our image of default on PC and install the vmware tools.  We then install the Agent view on it, but he asks us for the default server which I don't want to specify at that time here.  If I do the above actions on an ESXi server then the Agent does not ask us for the default server.  I looking for the agent on the position of the player he can find on the ESXi server, but not on the drive?

  When you use the b_startAgent parameter.
  After installation, there are the 3 steps:

  1 start the agent of
  . / emctl start agent

  2. Add the target
  . / emctl config agent addinternaltargets

  3 configuration of the Plugin
  /Core/12.1.0.1.0/Perl/bin/perl /core/12.1.0.1.0/bin/AgentPluginDeploy.pl - Origine_oracle /core/12.1.0.1.0 - agentDir - pluginIdsInfoFile /plugins.txt - action set - emStateDir

  Once the steps above carried out, check the status. If possible once syncing of the agent as well.

  Go to the Home Agent and the "agent" dropdown select resynchronization.
