Hello!

I foglight 4 HR linux machine.

Having a job agent NIC

No data for IO statistics.   Use the NIC = 0. KB entry, output k = 0.

What is the problem?

Thank you.

Analysis of RHEL, if the only metric does not accumulate you is info network, you must first make sure that account permissions are sufficient to allow RHEL to give you data on the network.  Try to change the account that you collect with an equivalent of root and then see if you get the data you need.

This is a 'feature' in RHEL, not a limitation of Foglight.

  • Log Insight (v3.0.1) Linux Agent Install on VCSA v6?

Documentation has information contradictory to decide or not to install the Agent of Linux Journal Insight on a version to 6U1 vCenter device.

Within the Insight v3.0.1 journal the following statement indicates the Agent Insight of the newspaper must be installed:

In the documentation of Log Insight 3.0 the following shows it takes to just install the syslog server in vCenter to transmit to the server of Log Insight.  No mention of the version of vCenter and no mention of the installation of the Agent of the Linux Journal Insight on the vCSA.

So I turn to google, which only adds to the confusion...

William Lam blog «a glimpse of native syslog support in VCSA 6.0» presents Preview setup of vCSA version 6 transfer of syslog logs and Log Insight.

However, Steve Flanders blog ' newspaper the Agent: Linux Configurations for Common Applications " refers to the installation of the Agent of Linux Journal Insight.

Anyone would provide clarification?  Is there a better method of practice?  If the Agent installation is the best practice that the agent provides on the native syslog in vCSA v6U1?

    Thanks in advance!

Two books - the goal is just to get syslog to LI. The reason why LI says that you must use the agent is that vSphere content pack, and more particularly the dashboard "vCenter Server - Application" requires that the agent is stopped working. If you use syslog-ng, you will always receive the events, but this dashboard vSphere content pack will not work. I hope this helps!

  • Petition to a view Linux Agent - sign and drop a line if you are interested!

In this community, you can find a few discussions where people are asking an agent to view Linux development.

This officer would make the possibility of a pool of office of linux in Manager mode available.

I understand this is not as easy as it may seem, there are a lot of distro of linux and the technical difficulties to achieve this goal.

In addition, if we ever get this agent, expect works as good as the Windows version, have redirect PCOIP and USB...

To this end, I would like to make a suggestion to VMware to develop a virtual appliance where one or two of the most used linux distro are prepared by VMware. Limited support is acceptable if you tampered with the virtual appliance and broke the addon from view. In my opinion Ubuntu LTS is a serious candidate for such a virtual device.

I ask everyone who would like to see this suggestion developed to remove a line in this thread AND sign the petition.

'' I support the request '' would be enough to make the VMware to know how many of you are out there asking for this feature.

    SPREAD THE WORD AND SIGN!

I think it would be a great blow to VMware, especially with the evolution of cloud computing and the shift towards Web applications that would eliminate the need for a Windows operating system for many users. Of course there would still be some cases where Windows should always be used, but it would be a great solution for the pools created just to allow access to the internet, for example. I'm in. And thank you for having this discussion began.

  • Configure the NIC NAT on linux-vms

    Hello

If I convert a vSphere ESX from Vmware Workstation linux vm and set the nic to "nat", that it is not changed in the vmx-file destination, he is always satisfied. Desktop virtual windows it works fine.

Could it be corrected in the final version?

    See you soon

    Lukas

    Hello

Tried with Solaris 10 64 bit - it returns to NAT.

What version of ESX (and what if used VC) are your source on?

You can send me this task logs, there might be some clue in there.

The conversion of Windows 2003 was fine, right?

Regarding regular weekly export - you can do this by using Converter SDK to create a script or a program that invokes a separate Scheduler.

  • See Agent running Linux?

View Agent can be installed on a Linux machine?

The thought is to reload my old XP with Linux boxes and install the Agent from the view to connect to my Windows 7 VMs.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you.

What we call the 'view Agent' goes on the virtual desktop and the "Customer View" is on the device that accesses the virtual desktop computer.

So, for me, it looks that you want to have the view Client on your PC refurbished

In this case there are a number of options, first of all the VMware View Open Client, which is a version of the open source of the view Client that can be installed on a box of Linxux, here is the link: http://code.google.com/p/vmware-view-open-client/

Another option is to use a preconfigured as ThinStation linux boot cd, see this link: http://www.thinstation.org/

A third option is the business customer of DevonIT called VDI Blaster, it comes with full support PCoIP and management:

    http://www.DevonIT.com/software/VDI-Blaster

Currently, there is no version Linux agent of sight, while Windows Desktop OS as virtual desktops.

  • Acer Aspire S7-391-6810 works under Linux (Ubuntu, say)?

Also, if I install Linux instead of Win8, my warranty will be void?

    Thank you!

    Nice day

Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.) will run on S7-391-6810, HOWEVER, the only problem you will encounter is the drivers and applications on your computer that drivers are only available for the Windows platform.

Regarding the warranty, Acer does not care what you load on the machine, as they cover the software warranty. They cover only the pure component on hardware failure... which means that only produce material defect is covered.

    In total, due to negligence.

It was necessary to create the new connection simply.

This option in case of which the agent has not been started is higher.

In this option, the agent was launched and works perfectly.

  • BackupExec 12.5 on hosts vSphere 4.0 agent

We are moving just existing ESX 3.5 hosts to hosts vSphere 4.  We use no VCB in our site.

BackupExec 12.5, we see that these vSphere 4 host can be found under 'Linux Agent' but appear in "User defined selections".   Furthermore, the backup runs properly.

We would like to know that change is a feature where Symantec BackupExec vSphere?

    Thank you

You are able to find the vSphere Linux host. / Unix agent?

    NO.

If you use Symantec VMware Agent, you will see a specific area.

If you are using VCB + script do you the backup of the area of the local scene... so you only see your VCB proxy.

  • Problem of agent deployment:

I recently installed a cluster of cars of two nodes running on RedHat 5.5 64-bit with Oracle V11.2.0.2. When I tried to perform a V11.1 OEM Grid control agent deployment, I had a breakdown. This OEM grid control system was used to deploy other agents but systems RedHat 32-bit with no problems. However, none of the system have been in a rac cluster. After looking at the logs, I found the following in the installation log in the oraInventory/logs directory:
the server identified as fpkrmanser1 is the h/s where the grid control OEM is installed

INFO: Setting the ' SourceLocation (FROM_LOCATION)' to 'https://fpkrmnser1.lac1.biz:4900/agent_download/11.1.0.1.0/linux_x64/agent/stage/products.xml '. Has received the value of the command line.

Then I looked at the fpkrmnser system and found that there is a products.xml file but is in the path:

    /Oracle/base/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/SYSMAN/agent_download/11.1.0.1.0/Linux/agent/stage

There is not a directory path of

    /Oracle/base/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/SYSMAN/agent_download/11.1.0.1.0/linux_64/agent/stage

It seems that the grid control knows the fact the o/s is 64-bit, but it is not just a directory linux_64 is currently a linux directory. Is there a plug-in or an action that we must ensure that 64-bit Linux agents can be deployed.

    Thank you
    Dennis

As you use the GC to deploy your agent, have you downloaded the correct version of the agent (for 64 - bit)?
After having extracted the zipped for Linux 64-bit agent software, the correct path could get created...

The wording of the initial error "Version Check failed to Match" makes me think that it resembles something that I met once after the installation of a small tuft release. You must ensure that the Agent installed on the remote computer is the same version as the controller.

for example if you had installed on machines both controller and agent and then improved OATSv9.00 JUST OATSv9.01 the controller controller would be able to talk to the agent on the remote computer v9.00.

I could be wrong, but that's essentially what I found with one of the v8 improvements as soon as possible.

Try to upgrade the agent on your machines remotely with the same setup you have on your controller (but only to install the agent, not the paclage of whole OATS).
