How to convert a Linux format USB for Windows?

On a Linux machine open disk utility and format the drive using the FAT format and it works perfectly on Windows.  Windows is not able to read the format EXT4 used by Linux, but Linux can read the formats of the FAT and NTFS used by Windows.

    Hello.

Mozilla has released, on 11 July, FF 5.0.1 to bring increased compatibility with Mac OS X Lion. You said:

Yesterday, I noticed that FF 5.0.1 for Linux and Windows are available.

However, I can't find any credible information on the Internet which is all about. "Notice of security for Firefox", "The Mozilla Foundation security advisories" and 'US-CERT current activity' pages did not mention of FF 5.0.1 for Linux and Windows at all.

Could you please shed some light on this particular and still mysterious version?

    Thanks in advance.

  • EliteBook 8560w: 8560w w / external projector does not not under Linux or Windows 8.1

I recently bought an Elitebook 8560w opportunity and installed 8.1 for WIndows and Linux in a dual-boot configuration.  Using the laptop for weeks caused no problems at all.

I used the display port on the screen on a TV 720 p to Samsung to mirror, so the kids can play games and it works perfectly, but when I try to connect to a home theater receiver as a passage to a projector 1080 p, the projected screen turn black for a few seconds, and then correctly show the desktop. This trend will continue indefinitely.

I hooked it goes back to the 720 p TV and it works perfectly.  The problem exists in Linux and Windows.  I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled a different version in each operating system.

    Ideas?

The Elitebook works and no hardware or software problem.

You may need to have an active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter since signal must pass the home theater receiver.

  • How to install Linux in Windows 8?

I bought a new laptop and I was happy, until I turned it on. It was not an option to access the BIOS, when I started first, I noticed. Then I followed the installation of Windows 8, everything was going well (except for the part that I want to talk). I put in my x 64 Arch Linux cd, restarted Windows 8... There is still no option to access the BIOS. NO BIOS. I paid $ 700 for this laptop, but it doesn't have a BIOS. I think I've paid enough to receive a BIOS. Well, back to the story. The arch Linux installation menu doesn't start, but a windows 8. I tried the CD on my other laptop and it worked. I searched Google for hours and I found answer he. UEFI. It's sad. I found the answer: http://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/20303.html but I'm afraid that this method may not work and break the whole system. If it breaks the stupid windows will break and if windows case I have no computer. THANK YOU MICROSOFT.

Anyway, anyone know how to install Linux in Windows 8? I intend to remove Windows 8 once I do it because Windows 8 is inflated and it will be a waste of space and partitions.

Well I have not played with Arch Linux so I can't help, I mentioned only what I did with Ubuntu.
But I was wondering why there is no BIOS - I have a DELL Studio with Windows 8 Professional and I can easily boot into BIOS.

We have 2 of linux and windows server 1.

on linux, I am planning to install foundation, Essbase and planning.

and in windows I intend to install HFM and FDMEE.

now my question is when you perform the configuration for HFM and FDMEE, I need to deploy the java web application for HFM and FDMEE on windows.

so everything by deploying web applications in java on windows that I put a different name for "domain name".

as linux domain name will be 'EPMSystem', so for windows it would be different as 'EPMSystem1'.

There will be no problem if the domain names are the same for both linux and windows?

and for weblogic server port must be different as 7001 on linux and 7002 on HFM?

  • Secondary disk between Linux and Windows guests share

    Hi guys,.

I have a requirement to have a guest Windows and Linux comments share the same disk (formatted in NTFS) and the two systems need full access to the shared file system.

What I've read, it is possible in some cases, such as the Windows Server cluster.

Has anyone tried this with Linux and Windows?

    Thank you

What I've read, it is possible in some cases, such as the Windows Server cluster.

Windows uses a cluster without sharing, wherever a single node has access on the drive shared at the same time. Microsoft does not support concurrent access to an NTFS file system, with the exception of Hyper-V.

  • Choose Linux or Windows to host a site of Muse?

My client wants to know what operating system it should choose to host with GoDaddy. It is said:

"Choose Linux if you use PHP, Perl or CGI script...". MySQL database.

Choose Windows if you use ASP or ASP.NET... SQL Server or Access database. »

I have NO idea what it means thank you!

You'll want to prefer a server that provides support for PHP. Muse uses PHP on the server for the treatment of the form and the display of synchronized text.

Strictly speaking, PHP can be installed on a Linux or Windows Server, but based on the information you have provided, it seems that the default configuration of GoDaddy for Linux includes PHP where their default configuration of Windows cannot.

  • Help connect customers 2 linux on windows host 7 on 2 physical network cards

I'm relatively a newbie, but I searched the forum and pulled some of my hair, I need help.

I have 2 clients linux running windows 7. I want to fill each to a separate physical NIC Linux client

    Here's what I did:

I have access to the vmnetcfg utility.

Bypass: I can fill 1 image of the physical NIC 1 and this image connects successfully; the system allows me to fill the 2nd image as well as the 2nd NETWORK card, but the default value in the network address on the first NIC.

I checked the VMX file and looks like that below, I could not find all the entries on the E0 or E1 interfaces, the VMids appear me as different (long number)?

Customer 1 Image - file vmx

Host networks: is it possible to combine physical network cards with the virtual vmnets? I could also connect the networks host with different IP addresses if it works.

Thank you in advance for your ideas, I'd really appreciate your suggestions.

    jowuor wrote:

If I assign an IP (1.1.1.1) to the first physical NETWORK adapter, open to vmnet0 and assign a different IP (2.2.2.2) address on the second NETWORK card deck to vmnet 2, the period of INVESTIGATION on the second NIC automatically goes to the IP address of the first NIC (1.1.1.1). I can understand is that 2 NICs are bridged automatically together in 1 bridged network. I want to that I'm not able to reach is 2 separate bridged networks, one on each physical NETWORK adapter

To have a guest passed on a VMnet you don't need an IP address on the physical NETWORK adapter information.

You cannot fill two physics to even the VMnet adapters (except you have a driver of consolidation on the host, but this will create a logic board that gets filled then). You must assign a (default) VMnet0 physical NETWORK card and the other to a free VMnet (VMnet2, for example). Each VMnet is a virtual network that can hold a single IP subnet, so it is not possible to have two cards with two different subnets physical in a single VMnet.

Host networks: is it possible to combine physical network cards with the virtual vmnets?

Yes. If you assign a physical NETWORK card to a VMnet it becomes another bridge.

It's OK, but I would like to have 2 separate bridged networks. I tried this but I find myself with a single bridged network.

Assign a physical NETWORK card to VCMnet0 and the other to VMnet2. This gives you two adapters bridged. In the prompt for the virtual NETWORK adapter choose what VMnet (and thus the bridge) must be used.

This is a common configuration. Learn more here: http://pubs.vmware.com/ws71_ace27/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm#href=ws_user/ws_net_advanced_linux_secondbridge.html

  • ext3 Linux in windows

    Hello

I have a windows host computer running linux under vmware. One of the partitions on my hard drive is ext3. I was wondering if there is a way to mount this partition in the guest linux computer.

    Thank you

I think, it is possible in a normal way:

    • Change the settings for the virtual machine and create/add a new virtual disk, using the physical disk, and then select individual Partitions.

It does not matter that the host is Windows.

But - as I have not tested - there may be some problems depending on how the drive has been partitioned (under Linux or Windows)

    Hello Curt,.

Linux is the platform of choice for Oracle. Most of their products be devloped on this platform.

This means that (inl OEM GC) products will be available on Linux, first of all, this is also true for patches.

In addition, Linux seems to be a much more stable platform, then Windows.

Finally, it could be a little cheaper...

    Hello

    Hello

It comes to learn Oracle, be it linux or Windows. I suggest you all first learn about windows for ease of use and availbility of external tools (not that they are not available for linux, but then you have to fight for their installation). Once you are comfortable, then you should use linux. Visit this link for platiform compatibility for future reference
