  • I messed up compress and decompress files Win XP. Can I get help?

I don't know that I've caused this mess somehow by deleting or disabling something somewhere. Can someone clue me?

My computer has lost the association. ZIP files and he wants to use a program WinZip he wants to sell me.

I googled the hell out to try to solve this problem and stuff talking about click with the right button on any file and choose something to compress. But is not there at all. If I try to open this file, a box pops up wanting me to use a trial version of WinZip or purchase.

After fighting this mess a day for a week, I'm almost ready to throw in the towel and a pc to Apple. But I'm not a silencer!

So can someone please copy / paste in, or simply write me a quick lesson on the implementation of this compressed file (zipped) and then zip a file inside to allow the smaller space of storage or for emailing?

I was able to open a zip file that I found online somehow, somehow after that double click I wanted to just open it with WinZip. Somehow, I recorded it on my desk and then I think clicked and selected open with and he offered me something (compressed) standard Windows. But I don't seem to get that now.

I would of course go to my Docs and a kind of zip file and then send it to myself and then unzip the attachment. But I can not yet understand how to do the 1st step. I'm feeling braindead, but actually I was quite able technically my life. HOW frustrating1

CAN I HAVE IT PLEASE HELP!

Yes, WinZip is a commercial product, but you can use 7-zip, which is both free and much better than the built-in Windows file archiver.

  • Lost my legal copy of windows 7 when windows 10 crashed to my computer via one of its trusted partners.

Downloaded Windows 10, many operations I performed earlier is no longer working. For example the opening of a compressed zip file. Went to windows help community and recommended one of its trusted vendors, plus expenses. Refused.

Tried several, wound up in India, they took on my computer and when I refused to buy an anti virus program (which does not need), they tried to extort $150.  Shut down my computer and I tried to get rid of windows 10.

Now Microsoft constantly interrupts me trying to force me to buy what they clear my computer.  How can I stop them?  How can I get rid of leftovers of windows 10 on my system?   Never again!

  • Windows 7 Associations grayed out

I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. When I try to change the file associations usingPrograms Defalt Panel element, and then the question ofset your default programs and selected by default for this program, I can see the file associations relavent for the given program, some of which are likely to be checked, but the vast majority of the associations for most programs is grayed out (if they are checked or not) and unchangable.

For example, I use MegaZipper for Windows to manage compressed files, but it diverts the .zip and .cab files too, that I would leave it to the Windows Explorer. When I try and set the associations using the above method, I can see all the appropriate associations but none of them don't deselect. I can however use the associated file Type or Protocol with a specific program option to associate the .cab and .zip with Windows Explorer, after which these options become not greyed and changing within theset your default programs section, but I don't want to have to re - associate each file association on the system to be able to release to the top in the section set your default programs. Is it possible that I can easily do my editable associations using the control panel to set your default programs of the default programs Control Panel item?

Thank you for taking the time to answer, it is useful. I think that what was confusing me was that files .zip and .cab were treated initially by Windows Explorer, once I had installed Megazipper it took control of these files and they are greyed out in respect of associations of Megazipper in the Control Panel, which means that I could not deselect the to hand their return to Windows Explorer. However, I managed to do so now by using the Type of associated file or Protocol with a specific program option.

  • What is the reliability is zipping in Windows Explorer 7?

There have been times in the past when a zip file, I created was corrupt (or has become corrupted somehow).  I met this either using zip or WinZip command line, possibly in the old Unix environments.  For me, there is a risk in relying solely on the zip archives and removing the original unzipped files.  The risk is not only losing a single file that is corrupted - no corruption anywhere in archive entire could make all files that are inaccessible.  Therefore, the risk increases with the size of the archive.

How reliable is the zip that is native to Windows 7?  In addition to this general question, what specifically for files in the gigabyte range (fraction of a GB or several GB)?  If she is very reliable, I will use the Windows 7 is "compressed (zipped) folder" to create the archives to record on DVD.

I use Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.  I want to avoid discussion on the backup of Windows 7 because it is not suitable for my specific purpose.

Algortihms even.  Works very well.  Just as reliable as other methods.

You may want to avoid - but sorry - there is no more reliable, proven method to protect the files (and very rarely qualities are a problem - otherwise it's in the MIND of the person to decide.)

You take a chance no matter what you do - even leave files right to sit on a running system.  Write an archive for a DVD - ups comes risk.

It's what backups are for.  Having more than one copy of any file in disparate places is the most reliable way to maintain a good copy of the file.

I created several GB + archives.  I mainly use 7 - ZIP though - just for the features and flexibility.  I always keep backups.

Are what is your reasoning behind not backups of thought they suitable?  What is "Windows 7 backup" - like using the utility?  Many here recommend that anyway - copy / paste is more personal and useful.

  • Lenovo Miix 2 8 "File Transfer FRO another PC. Is this possible?

So I had the Lenovo Mixx 2 8 "Windows 8.1 compressed the other day and I find there is no option USB transfer thereon. It's not eaxactly a bad thing, because the Tablet is pretty much a PC and how it works pretty well so far.

My Question is: is it possible to transfer files via USB for Windows for Windows? I bought these OTG cables, will help them? If so, how does it work?

    Thank you!

N ° unlike knowledge the Android device, Windows Tablet cannot behave as a mass storage device when connected to USB. For the same reason you can't connect two PC via a USB cable directly. It is by design.

OTG cable allows you to connect the USB client device like flash or HARD disk drive to your Tablet and the transfer of the files it. With a decent WiFi access point file of up to 10 MB/s transfer speeds are possible. This is how I generally transfer files between the PC (cable) and Miix2 (wireless).

  • Error 1335 the Cabinet file

    Hello

When I install Microsoft Flight Simulator X, I get the error message 1603. But before I got this messase that I get an Error 1335 the Cabinet File "D1 ~ 10.CAB '.

I copied all files from drive 1 and 2 on my hard drive and I still get the same message.

    Help, please

    Hello

Cabinet (or CAB) is a file format to archive for Microsoft Windows that supports compression without loss of data and embedded digital certificates used to maintain the integrity of the archive. CAB files have .cab file name extensions.

Install the game in the clean boot and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

Note: follow step 4 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

    Hope this information helps.

  • How to recover my data stored on an external hard drive now that I use a MAC

I bought a Sea Gate 2 to external hard drive for my Dell PC a few months back.  It saved my whole computer and check everyday for any extra stuff back up.  Recently, I switched to a MAC, and in a prime time could not open at all.  However, I called door seafarers and they helped me set up my Mac so now I can open it as a hard drive.  However I still do not see the material recorded from my PC.  I was told that Windows has somehow compress the files when it is saved as a backup, and this is perhaps why I can't see my old files.  If anyone has any ideas I'd love to help.

It's really a question you need to ask the experts of Mac (choose the forum that pertains to your variety of Mac).  However, the information that anyone who will help you needs to know is what software created backup files.  In other words, what "saved" your computer?

For example, you use Windows Ntbackup?  You use software provided with the Seagate drive?

If you can open the Seagate on Mac disk, configure your Mac to be able to show file name extensions (the letters after the dot): http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh825.html and register this file extension to your aid application.

  • Free disk space on the C partition

    Separated from this thread.

I am also having the same problem.  I am running Vista Home Premium SP2.  I was getting close to complete on my drive C (13% free space). I was shocked to see how quickly it filled up, almost as if he did it by himself.  I was downloading a lot so I had no idea how it happened.  I ran each program cleaning and each antivirus that I had to try to make room.  I cleaned up program files deleted a bunch of audio and video files, and it does not seem to do much more of a difference.  I shut down the computer for the night and is returned to him the next morning.  I ran and bought a few flash drives to transfer files more and when I booted up I checked the hard drive and it was back to 48% free space (as it was before).  I have no idea what happened, but so far, it seems to be fixed...?   one of the cleansers I ran also ccleaner.
