I would like to know the list of devices have the capability of autonomous GPS (GPS chip set that can operate in stand-alone mode without using the assistance by the provider, only satellites).

    BB Storm is an example.

I know that some providers block some GPS capabilities, but first of all, I would like to know which devices have real autonomous GPS?

First of all I m asking about 9000 "BOLD".

  • BlackBerry phone loan of Q10 of wireless provider - unable to connect with ID

    Hello!

I had a problem that requires my Q10 to send in for repair and the loaner phone, I received would not connect to my Blackberry ID.

The message I get is 'Blackberry Protect anti-theft is activated. Please sign in with the ID of Blackberry which served to set up this device".

I guess that means that a registered person the phone with Blackberry Protect loan and this is the ID that is required to connect. However, this makes me little use.

Is there a solution? My supplier tells me there is nothing they can do as a matter of Blackberry. They suggest to take the phone home and make security wipe again, but I have a feeling it won't.

Hello and welcome to the community!

    Reference:

Your suspicions are correct. This device must be:

    1. Connected to the BBID which was used last
    2. Defeat/stopcock Protect, requiring again enter these credentials BBID
    3. WIPE
    4. Associated with a different BBID as part of the initial configuration screen

Lack of this EXACT sequence, the device will not be usable by anyone. I suggest that go back you to Telus and insist that they give you a device of loan that you can actually use. No one may use the machine without these prerequisites BBID powers... simple as that.

Whoever you talked to is not well formed, I fear... is not "a question of Blackberry. On the contrary, it is the result of the compulsory anti-theft features and their failure to follow the appropriate procedures. When they recovered the aircraft that put her, they should have made sure that the user has performed the previous steps (1-3) for tell - associate their BBID apparatus.

    Good luck!

I generated an event log file.  How can I send this file to the technology of BB?

Hello and welcome to the community!

There is no direct communication channel for you to receive the support of the RIM. Instead, you must work with your carrier because they are responsible for all frontline support to their customers, and only they can case degenerate RIM that they cannot solve. Therefore, the answer to your question is to first speak to your carrier for official support, and if they need climbing to the RIM, they may or may not request the file.

  • BlackBerry smartphone how to make calls from phone with my PIN code and fees

I got my BB also because I was also asked for my PIN by friends from across the Atlantic. How to make the best use of my blackberry phone to make calls. I know that I need a date of purchase, but can the wifi works instead.

You can use the WiFi for a lot of things on your phone, but unless you have a BlackBerry data plan, you will not be able to access all the features of BlackBerry like BlackBerry Messenger, Facebook, Twitter, etc... even in WiFi.

If someone asks for your PIN, it is so that they can reach you through surveys BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), which uses your PIN to log in instead of the e-mail address, your telephone number.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB turn GPS is not very accurate

Hello. I've had my turn for a few weeks and I've been playing with the GPS, but it is not very accurate. I have Google Maps and location I get is often off by a few miles. I have also some apps that try to stall on my position, but can never really block on. I enabled GPS on the phone, so this isn't the problem. Anyway to solve this problem or to calibrate the GPS to make the apps and google maps work and are more specific to locate my position?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I thank very you much.

It is a common misconception that your Google Maps is way off... when what you're doing isn't 'location' yourself via cell tower triangulation, GPS.

Google Maps uses cell tower (even on devices without GPS enabled) default setting. You will see a large blue circle to indicate the cell tower range in that you are.

When setting GPS on you, you will see a blue dot sold, to indicate your exact location, usually within 3-10 meters

Then, in turn, follow these steps:

First of all, go to Options > Advanced Options > GPS. Here, make sure that the GPS location Services on and help location = Enabled.

On any Blackberry model, first make sure that you in a area of signal coverage is good AND outside with a clear view of the sky view in an open no skyscraper area.

Your CDMA BlackBerry xx30 model, follow these steps:
Go to the Options icon > status
In the status screen on the keyboard type "test" (without the quotes!).
You will see a Test screen device Self. Click on the Menu button and choose Start. You will find a list of tests. The substantive test should be GPS, check it and click Menu > run. Remember location GPS is turned on. Go outside without obstacles or the tall buildings around or above you. Click the trackball, then click start fixing. is should do a test. Let it do its thing and it should tell you that a location coordinates.

  • Problem blackBerry Smartphones with updates/app loader/SoS - Blackberry Curve 8900

The symbol of SoS came today and I looked up what may be causing it.  Nothing appeared to be damaged if the only other option was my software was not up to date.  Well, I installed the software for the device from RIM under my service provider, but oddly, I had no prompts to choose the directory in which I tried to install the software.  After installation, the Application loader loaded, and I clicked on "Start" on "software update."  I got a prompt saying: "Please connect your device" with a menu of dropbox and any options that it contains.   Now, my blackberry works with this computer (Windows 7) because I can access photos/music/etc through the storage using the USB.  The USB is connected when I try to use the Application Loader.   So ontop of the fact that I can't use my phone until it is updated and cannot update the phone due to software bug, I also can't FIND the path to failure again access software!  Like I said earlier, there is no no. PROMPTED to wonder where I have to install the software.  I looked on several forums for the automatic and same path SEARCH keywords such as "Research in Motion", "Device Manager", "Application Loader" and even "Blackberry" and none of these files allegedly exist.  I can access ONLY the charger of application through uninstalling and reinstalling the software, because it runs automatically after installation.  I hope that the program from a site legitimate BlackBerry (https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads).

I am very, very upset by this phone. OnTop of the many bugs I've known throughout its use, its sad that I HAVE as a customer to update my phone my phone just otherwise stop across the network to my ISP until I do it.

If I do not get immediate help on these issues through independent e-mail, personally never buy a Blackberry again and to discourage anyone from aswell.

    Kind regards

    Chris

Already done this as I have explained in the original post.  Even then, I clicked on your link and was sent to the same Web site that I had already spent too except the one you sent me was strictly for East Asian languages, which I'm not going to download.  I had already downloaded the international and selected English.  The path to this program does not update the phone matter.  I have yet to come across a program that doesn't work than strictly on your C drive only.  Despite this, I have enough space on my C drive for the file - but it does not yet exist nor do ALL files/folders in the directory that was supposed to be created.
Oh well, thanks for your help.  I guess I'll have to deal directly with RIM and waste more time with this phone.  Bugs, gel, blockings, reception loss/bad PC/updates to update software that are up-to-date and for the worst of all - a phone that forces all the reception off the power when you need to update, what a very good product.
PS. other then Google Maps, no addons were never / have been installed. Phone never fell on a hard surface, but has a box of rubber for this instance.  Phone has no damage water (indicated by white strips) and no interior/exterior changes have been or is still made.  Never left in a hot/cold climate for long periods of time either.  So there is really no excuse other then a bad product.
Wish me luck when they tell me to call my service provider of reception because it will not be the fault of phones; or, I will say to call microsoft, because it will not either rims software.  This is the circle of bad technical support.
    Thanks again.

What data recovery app will be working with me?  Please recommend some, thanks!

If you use Blackberry Priv, you can try some android data recovery app, which you can find similar applications on Play store and google. I am currently using it, which has helped me recover deleted contacts and text messages. You can have a try: http://www.androidphonesoft.com/resources/recover-lost-contacts-from-android-phone.html

  • BlackBerry Q10 can make a unlocked Blackberry works with Verizon?

I have a Q10, and I'm at the end of my contract. Verizon does not have a model I want. Also, they do not support the phone at the local level, but I have to stay with Verizon for the reception where I operate. I can slip my Sim Card into something like a passport and use it on Verizon?

Hello and welcome to the community!

You should consider the different models and submodels (for example, there are 4 variations of the Z10) to determine the characteristics of radio frequency technology / device. Then you must watch the carrier you want to operate on and determine if your specific device is compatible with their network or not. For example, if you choose a device variant which is not a CDMA radio inside, then it is impossible to use it on a CDMA support. Similarly the LTE and the support of the frequency bands. Your device must be compatible with your operator, otherwise the function is impossible.

Here is a sample of some resources that may be useful for you:

I am sure that, with a little digging, you will find resources that suit your specific needs.

In addition, often with CDMA carriers that go beyond simply to accept the SIM card inside a compatible device. Often, the CDMA carriers insist on a deeper inscription to their network, they do. And so, if they say 'no' to the device that you want to use (even if it is compatible), then there is no way to get around that. Some carriers do not allow the BYOD (bring your own device).

Basically, if I were you I talk to my carrier and see what they allow.

    Good luck!

  • Is there a way to get the owner of BlackBerry phone to the BlackBerry browser number?

We are trying to identify the user by their BlackBerry phone number in a web application Java running on a WebSphere version 6.1 application server (JDK5.0). BlackBerry users access the application through BlackBerry browser. Is it possible to get the phone from the owner of the number with type of JavaScript code and pass the phone back number to the Web server? Has anyone done this type of programming?

We use curve and BlackBerry Torch.

    Thank you in advance.

It is not possible to read the phone number of the user of the BlackBerry browser application.  There is no object of JavaScript in the context of the browser which allows a web site to access this type of information (or the browser exposes this info).

However, during the incorporation of an object browser in a Java application (for example using the framework WebWorks, or creating an application of Java-Web hybrid from scratch), you have the ability to access the necessary telephone API which allows you to read the active phone number.

One suggestion would be to create a BlackBerry application using the WebWorks platform, which support your JSP page.  Your users then install and use this client on their BlackBerry (instead to access the content via the browser), and then you can use device API such as the phone API to add functionality for your application.

    Sincerely,

    Adam

  • How to add a custom menu in the menu system, as the list of Blackberry contacts

I would like to add a custom menu tinto menu system, such as the list of Blackberry contacts, when users enter in contact list and select the custom menu, it will open my client and send a few s parametertin my application as the contact name, telephone number, please tell me how and what version of the OS can do this.

It's still not clear to me what you want to achieve.

You can use http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/6.0.0api/net/rim/blackberry/api/menuitem/ApplicationMenuIt... to add a menu item to some system applications, for example the address book. you get a context object, in a BlackberryContact, you can process or use the address book.

Your second post seems to allude to http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/6.0.0api/net/rim/blackberry/api/messagelist/ApplicationInd... , it is used to place small flags with or without the number, such as that used for unread e-mail messages.
