Lite-On CD-ROM not recognized disk.

I have a professional business HPCompaq Dx2000 with XP Office.

Today, it does not recognize my CD ROM

It's a NTA of CD Lite-on 489 S.

Tried another Cd in this machine, no luck.

Trying to find a driver for no charge, no luck.

    Hi all

I bought a DVD ROM Writer (Plextor PX-608AL) that is not recognized by my Tecra S1 with XP Pro.

I installed the latest BIOS v2.50 as well as the latest Windows patches.

To the search, in the Setup of the BIOS (ESC during startup), the drive is not available.

I tested the drive in my old non - Toshiba with Win2k laptop with no problems.

Mounting frame is also OK (tested with the original Toshiba DVD ROM)

Y at - there a trick to getting a 3rd disc part DVD working in a Tecra notebook?
    What is generally a problem

Thanks for reading my ad and you answers or advice

    Klaus

    Hello

It won't be very easy get your new work of drive on your S1, I will explain why:

Most DVD players for laptops (including your Plextor 608AL) do not have jumpers to set
their place according to the requirements of the laptop.
    Three settings are available: master/slave/CableSelect

Most Toshiba laptops require the CD to react as a secondary master drive, unfortunately
a disc factory settings in bulk comes as a disk Primary Master or CS.

There are two options how to get to missing jumpers to make it work.
    (1) thanks to a new firmware patch that has this option defined by the software based on Toshiba standard or
    (2) by a bridge of material on some pins to the back of the drive.

As you can see, both options will cancel the guarantee of the reader and are not easy for a techie/technician.

As for option 1) on the search for a suitable firmware... no there are none available now. I checked the official site of Plextor, but also sites of patch firmware... NO CONCLUSION.
According to another Forum, business Plextor responded to a request for a firmware adapted with this answer:

    start of quote:
    Dear Sir.

The drive is detected beeing as a master drive.
This setting cannot be changed. Are there no rider to do so.
How mount you the device to your laptop, it's up to you.
It of different for every laptop and either found in the manual of books or you can request that information from the manufacturers for your laptop.

    Kind regards
    end quote (source: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=199145 )

As in option 2), it requires some skills with soldering and I do not think that this forum is suitable for me to explain this procedure. You should google around to find the procedure "pin 47 ashore" on your own, taking all the risks of losing the warranty and/or the drive on your own.

    Hello

Having too many CD/DVD programs can cause problems, because they will be competing for resources if
its best to select one or two you like and work with them.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

  • DVD - ROM not recognized with setting of M/S

Hello, I just bought a DVD SD-R2412 drive to replace my dead drive (same model). However, my old drive was CSEL type and this news is M/S. I didn't know there were differences in the same model. This new drive is not recognized by Windows XP (SP2) and disappear the second IDE controller. In addition, it is not possible to boot from the CD, so I guess that the BIOS is also not recognize the drive.

I saw an exchange of views on the reverse (CSEL M/S, new old) and some solutions for this case, but I have not seen all the comments on my problem.

My guess is that the drive is configured as a slave and the BIOS is not able to recognize in this position. If so, the question would be if there is a way to configure the drive M/S to act as a master.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Hello

It will be very interesting to know what unit of Toshiba you have. As far as I know, the drive is already set to slave, but I put now on exactly the position of the rider. However, take a look on the label which is located on the drive. You can find a picture how to affect the small rider master or slave.

    Hello

41 code means that the driver has been installed successfully, but the material was not found!

Normally, the material is damaged with this error message, but your external drive has got the same message!
So, there is a deeper problem with the support of CD player!

If you set a system point before occure failure for the first time of restoration, start the System Restore tool and return to this point!

Then it should work again! Otherwise post again!

    HI Paul,.

I think that your first priority will be to remove the virus from your laptop. The following link contains the virus details: -.

    http://securityresponse.Symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/W32.Desktophijack.html

You are shown in the BIOS to CD-ROM? If yes then set to be the first selectable boot device and you should be able to load your recovery disk and restart it.

  • Satellite A10 - recovery disk not recognized

I want to format my hard drive and reinstall windows xp.

Of course, I have Toshiba A10 laptop with HDD 160g, 1 g of Ram, cd/dvd player and the restore disc (cd).

Problem: the restore disc is not recognized by the cd player. When I insert the disc, then again, boot sequence goes to hard drive and boots from there

    What I did:
    1. check if the reader sees another s cd. Answer Yes, Yes
2 boot sequence of the bios checked as well as toshiba consoles set up made sure it is
in "order"hdd, lan, floppy, cdrom", (I tried other combinations starting with cd as well).
    3. I cleaned the restore disc, didn't work
    4. I ordered another set of Toshiba restore disk, which did not work either, still not recognized
    5. I bought a cd/dvd external reader believe it or not, disc starts to work in this case, I get a warning screen shows all data will be lost and asks me to click if I want to continue, when I click it says will now restart the computer and it does but comes back and goes back on the hard drive and boots from there.

I must also add; When I switch on I get "' pxe e61 media test failure, mof outgoing intel boot agt" msg, according to my search, this problem indicates hard disk.
but my hard drive does not work,

Will someone give me an advice?

If the BIOS is set to boot from the local network first, before trying to boot from the HARD drive, you will see the error PXE.

Have you tried to clean the lens in the DVD player? Wipe with a Microfiber cloth.

try holding down "C" when you turn on the laptop, this will make it boot from the CD.

  • Re: Qosmio x 770-107 - recovery disk not recognized

I gave up my old 3 months Qosmio x 770-107 last week and killed my HARD drive. A new HARD disk, exact replacement to order it. Ordered a DVD of recovery of this backup media site that is posted here. I entered number etc.

Rolled up today but at the start it is not recognize at all. He sees my drive in the BIOS, and I changed the startup as well as preferences to try waiting usual f12 or whatever.

    All I get is:
"Reboot and select proper boot device."
Or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. »

It doesn't matter what I do.

I tried another windows 7 boot cd and it started to load files perfectly. It's infuriating after 8 days of waiting, I thought I was back in business.

    Any help?

    Thank you

    Chelm.
