Logmein123 scam - what should I do if I let in?

I was not lucky enough that others have posted for the LogMeIn123 scam - they took me at the right time for them - bad time for me. Sounds the alarm, but the brain was not save.

Other completely reformat my whole hardrive (as a suggestion given to me) is there anyone out there that give me some advice on how to proceed?  Have they left something behind, caught no details?  Once I gave them a verbal explosion, I tried to disconnect by closing the chat window, did not work.  The only other thing I could do was physically remove my internet connection and turn off the computer.  Since I turned on my computer back - not connected to the internet, and their chat window opens automatically.

Is there something I can do?

    Dear all,

I was pretty stupid and open an attachment that came with what is now obvious to me as a scam.  She was supposed to be from a bank.

I deleted the attachment of my downloads folder.

Does anyone have advice?  Should I take further steps?  Should I look at unusual behavior from my Mac?  Can I download or buy an antivirus/antimalware software?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • I had the logmein123 call yesterday, may 10, 2011. What should I do?

I had the logmein123 scam yesterday, may 10, 2011.  I questioned the and talked to 3 people, but they were all so 'persistent' [persistent] and showed me all the "problems" at my computer, that I don't give any personal information. and access to the computer.  When they tried to sell me the product, I asked them to call back in a few days, so I could think.  Not heard yet return.  I googled logmein and found that they were legitimate.  But today, more control on this and other sites, found that logmein123 is a scam.  I feel such a fool, but they appeared legitimate.  I fear that, with the news. and computer access I gave, what they do with it?  What should I do?

    Hello

what I wrote to do is to be on the safe side

We don't know exactly what they have done

even if they were just persistent telemarketers, you don't know the person who had access to your machine remotely

    That's the problem

Here is some information on access to distance even in these Forums by Microsoft and it can be dangerous:

  • What should I do if I think I have been scammed?

I heard that I won a prize, but no matter how I try to claim that it he told me that I need to check ny email that they sent to me, but no email was sent. I tried 3 times and no still no e-mail. What should I do?

    Hello

This looks a lot like someone, or trying to rip you off by getting personal information that could be used to defraud you.

If you've spent money or bank details for these people, I highly recommend you immediately contact the relevant law enforcement service for your competence and your credit card provider / Bank.

I do not know what details you gave them, but you should be very careful with any email you receive or change your e-mail address. The same with any phone number or other contact details you have given.

I don't know what legal jurisdiction, you are in, but I recommend to have a read of this site of the British Government with focus on identity theft.

Regarding Firefox and your computer, I recommend that walk you through this article and make sure your operating system and security software is up-to-date and switched to decisions.

  • What should I do to protect my computer because I left the Microtech scam people look at my computer via the ammyn Viewer?

A woman with an Indian accent called saying she was with Microsoft and I had not answered their many urgent emails on my virus in my computer and she called for help.  I can't believe I fell for this point but finally woke up and realized it sounded funny and hung to the top.  But I did not have to look at my computer via the website ammyn.  I do not buy anything.  I just ran the full check of Windows Security Essentials.  What should I do?

It's a tough call.  For the most part, these scammers are simply interested to bill you for your non-existent problems and then sell you a costly "contract of service" rather than actually steal information on your part.

On the other hand, let you someone have total control over your computer and even if you could probably see everything that was done, he could well be activity past in the background a copy of your files.  Usually, however, all they do is look at the event viewer where they can surprise highlighting the 'mistakes' and 'warnings' (which virtually every Windows computer displayed in the event viewer) and thus convince you to buy their services to 'fix '.

At a minimum, I suggest to change all your name of user and password login information for whatever sites you visit, especially for banking sites or credit card.  If you are really interested and you keep financial information on your computer, you might want to act like your portfolio, including your credit card has been lost or stolen: contact your financial institutions and change your account information.

IMO, it is unlikely that no matter what malware 'backdoor' or another was left in this event, but if you are concerned that, really, the only way is to be sure to do a complete "clean" installation of Windows.  For most people who have computers that were purchased with Windows pre-installed, this means (a) back up your personal files, (2) to restore the computer to its "fresh from the factory" State by using some mechanism to do so provided by the manufacturer; (3) painstakingly updated day Windows to the current service pack and post-service pack updates; (4) reinstall any programs that were installed after that you bought the computer (using the original installation media) and then update these programs according to needs; and (5) restore your personal files.

  • At Lenovo scammed me, what should I do?

I recently recived my new lenovo t61p, I custom ordered online, I ordered 4 GB of ram, I have a couple a their recipt too things invoice on the spot. I ran a few programs, pc-doctor 5 and everst home and I looked in the Basic Control Panel on my computer info, what I've been see only 3 GB of ram, what gives, that they rob me, what should I do? Help, please

Look in your BIOS (press F1 during boot) and it should display 4096 MB of RAM.

If you are running 32 bit Vista or XP, they don't 'see' and address 3 GB.

Tell us what are your conclusions.

  • logmein123 scam when I thought I was calling by using Hotmail?

Logmein123 scam: I had problems connecting my email this morning and I called the number 1-888-439-2525 to help.  The number was supposed to be using Hotmail.  A man with a thick Indian accent came and had me download logmein123 and then tried to sell me the security of my computer for 159.99.

Can you tell me it's a valid number using windows live hotmail or Windows products?

    Hello

It is a well documented SCAM.

"logmeim123" is in fact a legitimate company, but the scammers use their name for remote access to your computer.

Either they want to sell you unnecessary software or access your computer for so-called "erors" to then steal banking or credit card passwords and your identity

If you give them access remotely through software "logmein123", etc., my advice is to backup your data and reinstall the operating system that you don't know what they have installed.

Microsoft will never contact you unless you have made prior arrangements for them to do.

    Read this Microsoft:

    See you soon.

  • My computer has been infected with "Windows Vista restore" what should I do to get rid of him?

The fake security program Window Vista restore"scans my computer and tells me I have several hard drive errors.  It has blocked access to my computers system restore and defragment utility, appeared to 'clear' all my files (like images taxes) and I get the error pop ups telling me to turn off the computer because "hard drive failures.  When I click on cancel, x or anywhere on the box, the system stops.   When I restart, the same fake program starts begins to scan my computer again.  I tried running my Trend Antivirus scan and when the scan is about 99% complete, the fake program does not scan continue.  What should I do to get rid of him?  I'm asked to pay for an upgrade of the software, but have not entered my card number.  I'm afraid that my data has been hacked... including the loss of my photo albums.  I'm currently installing updates to windows on the computer.  Will he get rid of it?

    Hello

    do you mean Windows Recovery?

    read this:

Windows Vista Recovery is a program of analysis and optimization of fake computer that displays false information in order to scare you into believing that there is a problem with your computer. Recovery of Windows Vista is installed via Trojan horses that display fake error messages and warnings of security on the infected computer. These messages will state that there is something wrong with the hard drive of your computer, and then suggests that you download and install a program that can solve the problem. When you click on these alerts, recovery of Windows Vista will be automatically downloaded and installed on your computer.

Once installed, Windows Vista Recovery will be configured to start automatically when you log in to Windows. Once started, several error messages appear when you try to launch programs or delete files. Windows Vista Recovery will then prompt you to scan your computer, which will then find a variety of errors, he said, he can't fix until you purchase the program. When you use the defragmentation tool called it will specify that it should run in Mode safe and show then a background in Mode Safe false who pretended to defragment your computer. As this program is a scam do not be scared by buying the program when you see its alerts.

Follow the removal instructions, including how to "unmask" your data
