  • Virtual machine does not start after restoring from Time Machine to the new Imac

I got my IMac replaced by Apple, after that they could not fix the old one.  They did a full restore from a Time Machine backup.  The virtual machine does not open now.   When I navigate to the file to try to open the virtual machine at the VMware logo in the bottom right of the icon displayed with large yellow exclamation appears on the icon?  Anyone encountered this problem before.  I'll take the Imac in Saturday if I can not solve.  The machine has the same size as before.  There are a few aspects of sharing with the Mac application miss me?

According to the MacVirt.vmdk folder, you have the right number of segments of shared disk so you should be able to create a new VM by pointing to the disc in the new VM Wizard by pointing to the MacVirt.vmdk file.

Note: After you create the new Virtual Machine, I would not suggest the Virtual Machine to stop, pause and close merge and then move all *.vmdk files in the package of the virtual machine, and then manually change the computer configuration files virtual .vmx and change the path to a little to view the MacVirt.vmdk file.  In this way, everything is in one package and is easier to maintain.

  • Mac OSx Sierra Time Machine WD my cloud

Since upgrading to Mac OSX Sierra my Macbook Pro and Macbook Air are not capable of doing Time Machine back Ups to a WD MyCloud drive that is connected to our router.

We have updated the firmware on the WD My Cloud drive to the latest version and contacted WD on this problem, so far they have not come with a solution to the problem.

If you open Time Machine preferences and then observe what happens, by hitting 'Back Up Now' systems do "Looking to save the disc" then "Preparing backup" then stop and then go back to the status of 'rest' without backup anything to the top at all. It is the same on both machines. You can see here: Time Machine Back Up My Cloud

Notice how the drive icon changes to the point where it stops working and then goes to the other drive which is a USB.

Now, to complicate the issue further... an iMac connected via Ethernet to the router can go back to the My Cloud drive perfectly as before. If Apple changed something with the wireless protocols I think but that?

  • Time Machine hangs on the Application file that I deleted

    Hello:

I'm doing a new installation on my parents computer because Flash Player was completely broken somehow. I can't uninstall or update.

This isn't my problem right away well. Their backup disk was on his last breath so that I had to get a new and Time Machine hangs first various office applications, which I excluded, now it's of iDVD. I tried that it excludes everything first, but Time Machine has always tried to save. Given that my parents don't use it and it is no longer supported then I thought to uninstall. I deleted the program and demand corresponding is support the file and did a search in the Finder for all of the remaining files. No, zip.

However, Time machine is still backing up files which I can't find for the life of me. He would make iDVD themes 1, 2, 3, etc. I can't exclude in Time Machine because he's not here. I deleted the partial backups each time and it keeps immediately suspended 19,25 GB on iDVD.

Please, Please help. I spent a ridiculous amount of time is already and should just get this done.

I look forward to all points of view.

  • Time Machine does not work after update of the Sierra

The time function machine my Mackbook Air 2011 stopped working... it has not been saved since update for Sierra, it only take screenshots every hour, it will perform a backup is no longer on my external HD as before.

There is no problem with the way it is implemented or the hard drive, it's me that my iMac is working perfectly since the update for Sierra and it's backup via the time machine on the same hard disk.

It is a hard drive and put in place I was in use for about 5 years with no problems.

Also since the update for Sierra I noticed that my MacBook Air gets hot and the fans go wild, although there was nothing or performance other than the system is auto.

I lost the use of my built in camera after the update to El Capitan, and now I've lost the use of time machine... I was wondering if I should go back to Yosemite that everything worked well then!... is this possible?

Thanks for any help with this!

Update:-just so you know, time machine is to find the back up ok drive (external hard drive), it then goes to "preparing backup" and that's all, he remains in this preparation save the scene for centuries, after a while it just stops and it is saved all... nothing!

Also noticed when I checked in Time Machine full backup I have before update for Sierra disappeared, he disappeared, been deleted... I don't know what is happening with it!

Overall since the update for Sierra my MacBook Air did not work properly, in addition to all that Safari does not load, just to get the wheel spinning, and now (with the demise of my old back ups) it seems I can't go back to a previous state.

My Mackbook Air took it!... the last update took the camera and really Sierra in... material not compatible with all new software, none of the new features work on my iMac or MacBook Air (only Siri), so a useless upgrade for me really, wish I didn't!

I have delete my backup TM drive and started a new initial backup. It is 30 GB (of ~ 80) during the last 14 hours, but now is stuck and says: 13 remaining hours.

I use a normal disk external HARD USB 3.0 for backups.

    Any ideas?

  • To access the backups Time Machine another computer

I have spent a good hour looking for a solution to this problem, but have developed empty-handed.

If I understand correctly, backups of access from another Mac time Machine, I need to connect the backup drive to another Mac and select "Browse Other Time Machine disks... "in the Time Machine dock menu and choose the drive.

The backup drive appeared as expected and I clicked on "Use selected Disk" to enter the time Machine.

At this point, the computer between what seems to be Time machine, but shows a Finder window to the hard disk of the computer rather than the backup drive and shows not all dates before "today (now)."

A thread has suggested that I open a Finder window and select 'Computer' in the menu to reach before the opening of time Machine. It did not work.

Another thread has suggested that I have use the Migration Wizard rather to recover files and folders, I need. This is not ideal, but I tried it anyway, the result being that the Migration Wizard app remained "Looking for source...". "without finding the backup drive.

Before formatting my drive on the original Mac, I had checked for if ensure that I could access the Time Machine backup while it was plugged into the backup drive (which he successful well).

I use the latest version of El Capitan 10.11.6 on a MacBook Air (mid 2011). Backup is a MacBook Pro (mid-2010) who ran as El Capitan.

I would appreciate any other suggestions!

So, I discovered the solution, which has been in a simpler way that I expected. Before opening, Time Machine, it is necessary to find the sparsebundle Disk Image in the backup disk in the Finder and open it with "DiskImageMounter." Then, you must select "Computer" in the Finder menu reach before choosing the option "Browse Other Time Machine disks... "menu to the dock of time Machine. The first finder window it shows in the Time Machine view still belongs to the computer, but now it shows the previous backups, who are all from the backup drive!

  • How to restore my Mac from a Time Machine archived backup

I've tried Sierra for a few days, but since I discovered that some of my software work well with it but I restored my system to El Capitan via wipe HD. I want to restore my old data now, but I recently had to archive my TimeCapsule and all remaining backups come from the Sierra. I therefore need to restore my system completely from an archived backup TM. How can I do this?

  • Need help | Time Machine: An external drive to an another external backup

I have two external drives connected to my Mini.

    1. Elementary school: a 4 to format ExFat (because it must be compatible; he must remain this Windows format).  Currently, it is half full.
    2. The second: Time Machine.  It is currently formatted as OS X Extended (journaled).  I can change the format of it if necessary, although the documentation I've read online indicates that this is the required format.  He is currently empty, eagerly waiting to be filled.

I recently had to upgrade both of these drives.  For the past three years or so this configuration worked.  Since migrating my data to the new material and permutation of readers, however, my main drive is now listed under Time Machine-> Options-> excluded items.  It is grayed out so I can't remove it from the list and can therefore be saved.

Can anyone offer advice?  On the phone that I was told all upward could never work, but, again, I do this for several years (even on this version of El Capitan).  It was a headache Time Machine restore (perhaps because of the formatting), but at least my data has been backed up with precision.

I was surprised (and dismayed) when, on the phone, I was told by the representative of Apple to get just Carbonite because what I do is impossible.

You can read and write on the main drive of the Mac computer?

Which lists Get Info for the primary drive?

  • Restore Time Machine wifi data in neutral

Help! Today I return MacBook Air of my wife in an Apple Store. They fixed a software problem. Apple wiped the hard drive, but the Air has been saved our Time Machine network. Apple has installed the latest OS X, but not the data of my wife. This, I thought, would be easy and simple.

The problem is with the restore / recover the process. The recovery process looks fine. I selected the data to be restored and the 40,000 more files seem to be download nominally and after about 20 minutes, he seemed to be almost done.

However, the process is at a standstill, apparently at the end. On the page titled "Transfer of information", it says "one minute remaining to 17 MB/s". While the number of MB/s continues to fluctuate (10, 18, 15, etc.), this statement is still. (see image below) It has been like this for more than one 1 & 1/2 hours.

I am following up the wifi connection and it is strong and fast.

Should I click Cancel and see what happens? Suggestions

It won't hurt to let you it run for a few hours.

If it succeeds, then stop and restart the computer and the TC.

Don't allow TM to do a new backup... it's essential... you must first pick up these files...

No chance you can do a full restore to a new location. It's pretty simple to do... but the wizard configuration rather than migration.

    See using the Migration Wizard

  • Time machine and backup Mail, Contacts and calendar

  • Time Machine - preparation save forever

I have attached an external drive, I used to make a backup of the original, and now I, after a few months, attached the same external drive to the computer to update the backup. I was watching 'The backup Preparation' for too long now. It's time to reformat the external drive and start a new backup? Why this does not work for me?

    Thanks in advance.

Oh, it now says "calculating time remaining", so we can hope that the time Machine actually acknowledged that the record has been designated as a backup and he prepares now to update this backup.

This is how it is supposed to work?

The amount of data I have is relatively, in fact, quite small.

And he says: about 3 hours remaining to save 41,57 GB.

    Is this reasonable?
