    Hello

I think that the laptop stops because of the high temperature.
It would happen to prevent parts of material damage.

Clean the ventilation openings in the past?
To do this using a jet of compressed air, it's the right tool to make the dust removed.

I did that several times, it helps to keep good air circulation.

  • Satellite C660 does not start on disc or USB

My Toshiba Satellite C660-DSC0QE app, BIOS version 1.80, will not start Windows more - it just goes to the dreaded black screen with white cursor.

I tried a system Win 7 recovery disk, a USB with software from Kaspersky on her recovery and even a full Win 7 installation disc, and it does not start at one of them.

The boot order is set correctly, (optical drive or USB port) devices are read, but their initialization never actually in them - there is an obscure error message, or it acts like they weren't there at all.

The obvious answer to these forums seems to be disable secure boot mode and then switch the to the CSM UEFI boot mode. Easier said than done - the menu options don't exist at all in my BIOS/CMOS screens.

Finally, I see no way in the instructions to get a BIOS update occur without being already in Windows on the PC - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9502M10000R01.htm I'm assuming that the BIOS version 2.00 would have these options.

    Any help gratefully accepted!

    Hello

I assumed that you have a white blinking cursor in the upper left corner.
    Is this correct?

These symptoms appear where the system can not find a boot device (HARD drive) or memory problems (RAM module).

First of all, you said that you have UEFI / CSM boot mode in the BIOS settings.
So I m asking you what parameters of start mode appear in BIOS exactly?
Find you these settings in the right area?
Usually, you should have an area (tab) called security in the BIOS.
In most cases, you will find a safe boot option, but the Satellite C660 does not support this option because it s too old.
But the startup mode (UEFI /CSM) should be available in the BIOS. Check the settings in the BIOS of the system area

Anyway, as I said above; It could also be a memory problem, so I recommend you to check if the memory is OK.

  • Satellite C660 - recovery partition is there but can I make backup discs?

    Hi all

    Just a query
My GF turned on his PC series portable Satellite C660 and it would not start, we have tried to open the restore from the recovery partition sequence but kept getting the error that progresses at the start (error said to a device USB has been disconnected).

As you probably guessed that she never did the backup disks when you are prompted, everything I could think of used a drive to win 7 and reload this way then try to make recovery disks after (I didn't activate)
so win 7 has been installed well and all the drivers of origin that was all last week.
Now to the crunchiness, the recovery partition is here now, I do the recovery disks and install from those, win 7 I installed it will soon take activation
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

After clean install of OS you can't create more recovery disk and you cannot install recovery image using the disk HARD recovery option (F8 at startup).

Best thing you can do now is drive original order of Toshiba and use it for recovery image installation. It is certainly easier to have factory again.
You can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Re: New Satellite C660 blocked by password

I know this will sound silly. but I'm an ODP buy my first computer (for the wife at Christmas) and I don't have any idea what I'm doing. We bought a Toshiba Satellite C660 - 28 tons Saturday

During installation, it asked my wife to give it a name who did and she did also a password. She has set up ok and was able to access the internet, etc.. Later, she turned off and concluded that she could not use it again. When she starts the computer name is ok, but when asked for a password, the password chosen does not work. We have tried everything, every variation of his password etc etc and cannot enter into the computer again

What can we do? our password does not work, and we do not know how to enter a new. Can someone help or advise what we can do? We have even not yet guaranteed. Thanks a lot if you can help.

    Try this first.
Turn on the laptop and then press and hold F8. A screen should open with different options, using the arrow cursor / keys select "safe mode with networking". I hope that you will get a login with 'Administrator' as one of the users screen and if you select this account, and there will be no password. I suggest that you use "help and Support" of the Start button to see how you reset the password.

If you now have your machine backward, I suggest that you look at the creation of a password reset disk.

If you still cannot come back in the machine and then if you create backup discs, then you can restore the machine out of the box with them State

  • Software Webcam on Satellite C660 - 1 M 2

The webcam works correctly when you use Skype etc. But I have no access to it from Windows, so I can not change options, or take a photo without using Skype.

On the first day all worked them very well, and now after a few months I can not even find an application (do not remember exactly the name, but pretty sure I tried everything and google any possibility). No, I'm not stupid - I did not remove the shortcut from the descopt.
Windows cannot find any application, or there is no option in the Windows Control Panel (just an adnotation in Device Manager saying that I have a Chicony USB2.0 camera, it works, and there are some original installed installed drivers, I have not changed anything.)
I tried reinstalling the drivers, no change at all (as it was easy to foreshadow).

Then I googled some of the C series Toshiba laptops have a Camera Assistant Software, which I didn't think to install the first day (Yes, I bought "in white" laptop and installed Windows and the drivers manually). I thought that might be what I'm looking for, maybe I just deleted it accidentally.
Too does not work, when I try to run it it says that the camera is turned off (it is active) or does not properly (oh, rly?).
Maybe it's because the version of the software is not good for my model (which cannot get technical support, there no model like mine to choose in the list. It of funny, isn't it?).

    Thanks for any help.

What you need is Web camera application and it can be downloaded from the Toshiba download page.

Please visit http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and select your laptop model and the OS. Your laptop is Satellite C660 with PSCJ1E part number.

You will find the driver for the Webcam. Install it and try to use preinstalled software. Before you start we sure Skype is turned off.

    It works for you?

  • Just bought Satellite C660 and need some information please

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite C660 1 t 1 and have some important questions, I would like to meet you please. I have looked for answers, but could find nothing specific.

The first question I have is that when I turned on my new laptop and installed Windows 7, I noticed he had partitioned my hard drive to 500 GB in two for a 232 GB C: Windows and a 232 GB data D:
I was wondering if there was a setting that I had missed during my first installation of Windows 7 where I could change the size of the partition? As on a previous Samsung Netbook, I could choose how much space I wanted to a backup disk, but does not remember seeing a similar option on the Toshiba startup options? If someone could confirm it please that you can't change the size of the partition to installation of commissioning, it would be a relief, because I am worried, it was my fault the score is so great.

The second I have is that when the driver updates are released to update my driver graphics and any other material, which is the best piece of software Toshiba I should use to find and update the material? As there seems to be a lot of them pre-installed and they seem to all updated software?

The third question is: are there specific pieces of software toshiba which should start up when I start my PC? As I will try to stop programs unimportant all begin when starting my new laptop until reduced startup time.

Finally (sorry for so many questions) someone could explain to me why its so important to create a "recovery disc" and why it seems that I must do this as soon as possible? I'm really not at all, or the importance to create one as soon as you get your new laptop.

Thank you very much for all the help that I tried to find answers to these questions and noticed that everyone on these forums seems to be very competent and friendly :)

Aaron Hello and welcome to Toshiba support forum

At first, I must say that you are doing very good. It is best to ask first before you start to experiment and screw something up. A lot of people changing all implement and later wonder why some software stuff don t work anymore.

I have a little experience with Toshiba and will try to help you. So let's go.
    > I was wondering if there was a setting that I had missed during my first installation of Windows 7 where I could change the size of the partition?
When you start a laptop for the first time be preinstalled recovery image will install and you will have a laptop with factory settings. This HARD drive partitions are standard. After the first start the most important is to create recovery DVDs. After having done that, you can do with your computer laptop all you want. You can delete the partitions. Change the ability scores, install OS clean, but you will be able to install the original Toshiba recovery image using this disc. It is very important.

Of course, you can install os using HDD Recovery mode - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm
In general, you can change the structure of the partitions but it may happen that there will be problems to start HARD drive recovery after doing this, but if you create recovery DVDs there is no problem for you.

    > The second I have, is that when the driver updates...
In General, you should not install updates, especially not for Toshiba tools and utilities. My advice to you is: don change well equipped with operating system. What can you possibly update is display driver, but please use driver Toshiba only.

    > are there specific pieces of software Toshiba which should start up when I start my PC?
Much preinstalled stuff slow startup and notebooks in general performance. So that you can disable some startup applications (MSCONFIG > startup) or even to remove them from the system. For example, you can remove Tempro, information tool product Toshiba, remove an application preinstalled antivirus and install something better like Avira Antivir. At startup, you can turn off the zooming utility, application, Adobe Reader, Google update, check laptop Toshiba webcam and so on. I turn off even more things and leave just more important tools.

    > could someone explain to me why its so important to create a "recovery disc" and why it seems that I must do this as soon as possible?
I hope that I have answered this already, but here is the content of the Toshiba Recovery callback:

    * Important INFORMATION *.

    * your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need to repair your computer in the restaurant to the original factory condition, you can do it directly on the hard disk (press F8 when you start your computer, choose "Repair your computer" and follow the instructions in the menu) or create a bootable recovery for this fin.* drive carrier

    * Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator' to ensure that you are able to restore your computer to the original state that is installed at the factory, even if your computer is severely damaged.*

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Satellite C660 - 115 Win7 update stuck in the loop. SOLVED!

I have a Satellite C660-115 which is stuck in a loop "of despair".
I am a COMPUTER engineer support and a customer brought this laptop of mine, who was stuck in a loop of repair Win7 (64-bit prem) that simply says Win7 could not be repaired.

I backed up the profiles of subscribers using Hiren boot CD (done chkdsk as well - everything is OK), and then did a factory restore.
No problem at all with the restoration.

Started doing the updates for Win7; SP1 seems to install OK without errors.
The system then picked up 37 Win7 updates automatically and asked to reset.
Upon reboot, Win7 entered "drvload.exe" and started an auto repair.
It took time and the system started OK, but without any sign of SP1, looks so much like system restore to an earlier point?

I though this update to process 3 times now and each time after that a lot of auto update, the same sequence occurs.

How to exit this loop? What is causing this problem, which I have never seen before?

No software has been installed, other than that of the recovery process.
I even uninstalled McAfee, just in case this could be a problem - no change.

Ah, just took another look. It is stated in Win7 system registers that the restoration was caused by a corrupted file C:\ci.dll. Google to find it was a sign by a rootkit virus in the HARD Master Boot Record disk (the file ci.dll itself is NOT damaged). Found a fix tool

    http://support.Kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?QID=208280684

It identified the rootkit and removed.
    Seems to be OK now!

Hope this post could help others.
Of course, the factory restore does not erase the HDD MBR rootkit...

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Satellite C660 - Freez after boot - corrupt BIOS update 1.7

The Satellite C660 had start-up problems: freezing screen after startup and very, very slow. Also a HARD drive recovery did not help.

I tried an update of the Bios and loaded the downloadable file that at Toshiba (version 1.7). The Bios update has not completed and now the laptop does not at all.

The warranty is void, I now buy a chip of bios in China and I'm looking for now the bios file.

It's all them very disappointing and a large size of time and money.

    > The Bios update has not completed and now the laptop does not at all.
That s it Plains really looks like the module ROM was not properly flashed.
I think it's a problem with the hardware, since you had problems before the update of the BIOS.
I think that affected the procedure for updating the BIOS.

    > As the warranty is cancelled, I now buy a chip of bios in China and I'm now looking for the bios file.
Forget it mate ROM module cannot be replaced in most cases the module ROM must be flashed with a disc of crisis

Would recommend asking a Toshiba ASP for help and reflash the BIOS using the disc of the crisis.
This should not be very expensive

  • Satellite C660 - 10 d - Bootmgr is missing

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite C660 - 10 d for my birthday in August and was a little disappointed to find that it did not include the Windows 7 disc - instead, I found a "Recovery" partition to use if there is a problem. Another disappointment was to find the 500 GB hard drive, I thought I was getting was actually about 360 GB - him remains apparently partitioned for "recovery."

After a few months use, I decided to check the recovery option and found it was inaccessible (press F8 at startup just didn't work). Scouting around the ' net has found another option (I think it was something like ESC at boot 0 upwards), but that no longer works.

I should have taken this "thing" back at the shop at the time, but it was a mile 10 return and an injury prevented me from driving. In any case, I decided to make my own backup with Acronis (which has been a life saver on my desktop PC).

Main installation takes 3 DvDs and the "Recovery" partition went on another DvD. In hindsight, I should have backed up to a spare USB hard drive - it would have been faster.

In any case, law of Sod, a few months later and I had to do a reinstall from the Acronis backup and, while everything seemed to install OK, now I just get the dreaded message BOOTMGR IS MISSING. Scanning of the hard drive shows that the installation of Windows is there, but it does not start.

Scouting around the ' net came only upward with suggestions that involved using the installation disk that I had not been given. I don't understand the logic of backup 20 p for a DvD disc, containing a 140Gb (HSI) of a hard disk instead.

I tried various other suggestions to fix the MBR (including the FDISK. EXE/MBR) but nothing works. I even borrowed Win7 and Vista set install disks to friends, look for the file "bootrec.exe" illusory the claim of Microsoft would solve the problem, but it does not appear to be. I've skimmed through various assignments here, but nothing seems to fit my situation.

Any help anyone can offer would be much appreciated.

    Thank you
    Harry

P.S. at the suggestion of a friend I just installed Ubuntu Linux and that works OK! Why is it working OK and not my backup Windows?

    > I bought a Toshiba Satellite C660 - 10 d for my birthday in August and was a little disappointed to find that it did not include the Windows 7 disc - instead, I found a "Recovery" partition to use if there is a problem

The user manual provides information that you can create own recovery disk using the preinstalled software called Toshiba recover Media Creator. So apart from HARD drive recovery, then recovery disc could be used too.

If its always recommended to create a pick it up Toshiba drive in case something bad would happen to the recovery of HARD drive or the HARD drive itself

Bootmgr is missing could be solved by the new facility.
Wither away if you use a floppy from Win 7 Microsoft and would install the drivers that can be downloaded from the page of European driver of Toshiba or you will here order the recovery disk:

    http://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

I know it s not expensive: about 30

Hi looking for help. I have a satellite C660-21Z and in recent days the keyboard started playing up, some keys don't work at all and the touchpad worked only occasionally.

After trying different afew suggestions and uninstall last updates etc. I still had no luck, so I tried updating the BIOS when it went to reboot turned and then nothing, it's just sitting with the power light on and the fan runs and has been like that for about an hour!

    Help please!

Do you have you stopped the update of the BIOS either completed correctly updated the BIOS?
It might be possible that something was wrong during the update

Try to remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Wait 30 min and then press the power button / stop for 30 seconds and then connect the battery and the AC adapter and try to start the chance good unit

  • Windows 7 does not start on the new Satellite C660-195

    Hello

    I just bought a Toshiba Satellite C660-195 with Windows 7 pre-installed.

This morning I turned on it and it came with a black box with x:windows\system32\drvload.exe in it. This box then disappeared and Startup Repair kicked. He then told me that Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically. The notice were to remove any device that had recently been attached to the laptop (such as a webcam or music device) but I did not install a hardware or devices. I clicked finish and stop you the laptop.

I lit it again and it's the same thing (new!)

A forum would suggest trying the following: click on the link 'Show advanced options of the system and support recovery' who asked me to choose the configuration of my keyboard, but then when I do & click then it tells me "you must register to access system recovery options" I am never given the option connect!

When using the F8 advanced boot options I'm still not able to solve this problem. The same thing (see above) that happens when I try to start in all security modes, last good known Configuration (Advanced), debug mode, start Windows normally etc. I don't understand it.

Looking for other forums, they suggested dΘplaτant zero while running and then one selects Windows 7 to restore the laptop to its factory settings, but the same thing happens - it shows just the black screen with x:windows\system32\drvload.exe launched then startup repair, that does not solve the problem.

I don't have a disc of windows 7 to restore since I only bought the laptop 6 days ago and didn't have time to do a still. In addition, the laptop must have the restoration on his hard drive, but I can't access it to restore windows.

I'm just a home user understand all technical talk. Please can someone help me?

    Hello

Sorry to hear you I have this problem. The fact is that the new laptops come with only HARD drive recovery image and not with recovery DVDs. What you can try now is to install the recovery image using HARD drive recovery facility.
If this works you need out of the box again.

Please do it following the instructions in this document - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

  • Satellite C660 - no internet access via WLAN when powered by the battery.

    Hi guys,.

Just bought a Toshiba Satellite C660 and went through the installation process and everything seemed simple and easy. However, this changed when I tried to use the laptop wireless. As long as I fed it with the AC adapter, all right. When I remove the adapter I lose the internet connection for about 3-5 minutes before it reconnects for about 1 min. Then, he constantly repeats the cycle.

I have a strong signal that shows as "Connected" to my wireless network in the network and sharing Center, but get the message "no internet access. I have another laptop and PS3 connected to my network wireless without any problem. I disabled them both where they do not interfere with the signal, but that made no difference. Therefore, I am sure that's not the router, the modem, or the wireless signal.

I checked to see if my WLAN adapter needs an update to the driver, but it shows that I have already installed the latest drivers. I tried to change the power settings for the adapter wireless of "Maximum Performance" all this without success.

In addition, it works fine on battery if plugged directly on the wireless router.

Can anyone offer advice on how to fix it, before I return it to the store?

    Thank you

    Jason
