Watch the iFixit.com and Powerbookmedic.com websites for the repair to your MBP specific instructions.  Usually, the best approach is to replace the whole of the entire screen.

  • Dropped something on the keyboard, now the colours are stripped

Tonight, when I was getting into bed I dropped accidentally power cord to my laptop on the keyboard. Now, the colors are all messed up (I get lots of pink pixels where they should be white, but not the entire screen) and the loading screen is a bright green, bright. The screen seems a bit pixelated. I already ran a system restore and restarted, as well as closing down and reboot. No idea what could be wrong?

Thanks for the help! I took to a repair shop and turned out that I had only hit the loose LCD wire.

Expand it and third a low install Battery Check (Intetnational). This wil let us know if it is software issues by reinstalling the software will write more corrupt software. You have a new battery which destroys a dead battery. Now you have reinstalled the software for this. If it still does not work. Then you know that it is a matter of internal material. That your computer needs minor repairs done on the subject. Could be a burnt wire or wire connection loose a computer repair man would know. Don't let not a Direct HP support because their services are vary bad and very expensive. Trust in me as my computers always returned in a worse state, and then they went to. Six times my HP Touchsmart 600-1050 went in back to back repairs. Seventh time I took my repairman of local computer and bought a good one used to repair damage caused by a Direct HP support and rebuild the computer so I could have a good computer for work.  An estimate in the front when you take it for repairs. If you bought at best buy do not take it for them because they will ship it back to HP Support live also so you end up paying double amount.  You're welcome frrw.

  • Tecra S1: Can I repair a loose keyboard myself?

The left side of my keyboard in Tecra S1 is loosening gradually. When I press for example the SHIFT key, the key falls down, but the keyboard itself also a little sinks until it hits a bottom. Is there a way to get the fixed keyboard in place?

Thanks in advance for any advice...
    Marco b

    Hello Marco

As far as I know if the keyboard is correctly fixed something like that shouldn't happen. I have Tecra M1 and it is similar to S1. The keyboard is fixed with two screws. To check this, you must remove the plastic cover above the keyboard (where is the switch).

It's pretty simple to remove it. Check left or right of this plastic and you can see foramen. Use a small plastic part and move up. Be very gently and remove it completely.

When deleted check if the keyboard is correctly fixed.

    Good bye

  • Question of repairing ASP.

End of December 2009, we bought a new Toshiba notebook / laptop. We let him down (provided someone else caused it). Screen broken LCD, and the USB - rf wireless mouse which was still in its USB port.

We contacted Toshiba and they sent us to the repair company: Dynafix. We gave a precise description of the damage, he fell, and we had to price of repair for insurance. We wrote that the LCD broken and everything had to be verified, and that a broken USB (the remains of) module was still in your USB port. The price was a total of 360,02 euros.

Needed repair, the insurance has paid. The costs were lower to a new laptop, so we decided to repair, assuming that the LAA defects would be repaired.

To April, we received the laptop repaired. In June, however, the laptop broke down, he offered no more. I checked all what he (adapter caused it) and I saw that the contacts in the USB port where the rf module had been were loose.

We had the picked up for laptop of Dynafix again and added a note that the laptop did not AND that the USB port was broken. Dynafix sent the portable backn with an adapter (guarantee) and has NOT repaired the USB port.

We contacted Toshiba Netherlands, and the assistance service told us that we could send the laptop to Dynafix again, that we wouldn't have to pay the usual treatment and shipping costs and investigation, because it must have been studied in one of the previous era, that it is in Dynafix.

We received the price of the Dynafix repair now. They write "gebroken" (Dutch for broken) and it was out of warranty, and she was at a cost of 245,76 euros for the repair. A ridiculous price for a 50 cents USB port.

My background is electronic, I do not know this. Dynafix told us that they would replace the whole motherboard because that's what they agreed with Toshiba.

Our phone calls we already has said once to check the USB port, and that the USB port was already broken when we sent it to them, they responded that the port was not broken. An obvious lie, I saw myself!

I called Toshiba and Dynafix, they told me that they have entered into agreements not only not to replace the connectors, but only motherboards. But it's not my problem?

Toshiba Netherlands now tells US to handle it with Dynafix, Dynafix tells us to manage costs with Toshiba.

If Dynafix had done its job, and we had known from the outset that the costs would be high, we would not have chosen to do fix but rather bought a new laptop.
Toshiba Netherlands Dynafix are now and say: 'it happened and we cannot do anything about it more. "

I disagree with that. Because of the bad Dynafix survey we now have high costs. But also Toshiba Netherlands does not take its words. We even pay 57,12 euros to get the laptop back, not fixed!

Can dear people at Toshiba Europe, you help me? This is not normal? This cannot be the way Toshiba treats its customers? Please help me.

    Kind regards
    P.

    I understand you very well
Maybe you should get in touch with a Toshiba Netherlands or Europe again and should explain the situation as a whole.
This is a user to user forum so I put t know if someone here would be able to help

PS: I had a problem with laptop but my PSA has been very, very helpful and everything was covered by the warranty. I n t need to pay anything

In any case, good luck buddy

  • Satellite P200 (PSPB6E) - screen LCD cleaning and new display drivers

I have P200 almost 2 years (which means the end of a guarantee for me soon) and after about a year, bad pixels began to appear. I do not know exactly if all (it's more than 10 now) are in fact the bad pixels. Compared to other laptops Toshiba, I have always had lower edge of the frame of the screen a little loose (so he leans a little after I push in the middle of it and a lot of dust and dirt continues to fall below) and there was a time where I have even a piece of hair between the transparent cover of the lcd screen and the Panel itself (after a certain time it fell under the bezel by itself).

I would like to ask, if it is possible to remove the transparent cover of the screen so I can clean from inside?

I want to avoid a scenario, when a service provider told me that there is an insufficient number (according to the ISO standard) bad pixels for repair under warranty, so all that waiting to get the laptop to and return service was actually for nothing.

Also, is there somewhere a new VGA driver for this laptop? There Radeon HD2600 and the latest driver download from Toshiba site is July 22, 2008. I also tried ATI.com but it's as if HD2600 was no model ATI. The standard Catalyst drivers for versions of office do not work and there is no HD2600 specialized drivers, except those of Toshiba. I think that this will become a problem even more acute when Windows Seven will be put in place and with a lot of users is no longer manufactured portable (and many of them ignored Vista if their material has enabled), will seriously consider trying the new OS and there is no VGA compatible driver for her, because some Toshiba forgets to update them and ATI seems that they don't care.

Thanks in advance for any help with these.

    Hello!

To be honest right now I n do what cover you average, but normally it s not necessary to clean the LCD from the inside.
Also it of a bit more difficult to remove the cover plastic around the LCD and you really must pay attention to not destroy as this plastic is very sensitive.
In my opinion the best way would be if you go to an ASP. For the moment, your laptop is still under warranty so that you should use to get a free repair of laptop. With more than 10 pixels dead, you should get a new view.

On the Toshiba site, you can find the nearest authorized service provider:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported downloads & => find an authorized service provider

On the display driver: why do you need a new? I always use the drivers of Toshiba and never had a problem.
What you can do is to get a cell phone which is equipped with the same graphic card. Maybe on other cell phones, a newer driver has been released yet.

    Good bye

  • R51: Cracked base, stained glass panel LCD, very bad underwriting experience

    Hello

I recently sent my laptop for repair Flextronic (Solectron) for a problem with my LCD. On the screen LCD, about 50 grey dots appeared near the Center. They were not dead but pixels spots on the back of the Panel. Before you send the laptop, I checked it and found a crack near the left hinge. I'm on this R51 like a baby and it is in perfect condition with no mark or scratch on it. I noticed the hinge was loose for a few months, but I never checked the cause of this. Now, on the crack, what I noticed is that he depart when I lift the lid and it remains extended as long as the lid is raised. The hinge clearly pushed on the plastic and I am 100% sure that this is what caused this crack. I got a call two weeks after receipt of my laptop in the repair center. They said that they would replace the LCD, but they would charge me $140 to replace the base... I fight with them since to get this base replaced under warranty. I paid for a 3 years guarantee of the site and they don't even offer me the on site service I paid for... I've been without my phone for 3 weeks now and I find it very frustrating.

Here are some pictures of the crack, on my R51 and the R51 of someone from another forum:

    http://picasaweb.Google.ca/picasawildchild/ThinkPadR51Public#

Someone else knows a similar crack about a series notebook R5x?

    Thank you

  • How can I send a laptop to HP for repairs?

I have a laptop HP Pavilion with a cracked screen. This is the second time that the screen is cracked. The first time, we had a technician HP come to the House to fix it. He seemed a bit inexperienced and nervous and had difficulty getting the display opens to pop in a new LCD. Apparently it must have damaged something internal in the process, which went unnoticed until the second time the screen cracked and had to go repair. So this time I brought to Staples, where services tech guy was very helpful and was able to get the screen appeared in no harm, but now the laptop won't turn on. He said it is an internal hardware problem and not a hard drive or the battery, because when the laptop is plugged, the power source is on signaling that the computer is plugged (and it has tested the hard drive for problems; the OS and data are intact and the drive works very well).

What the guy from Staples also found was that the display unit plastic had taken place with electric tape (probably from the first guy that repaired a few years ago) and that in the course of the first guy prying open the screen, some internal components (he didn't say that) had gotten twisted; It is probably the culprit preventing the marketing of the laptop. I left the laptop at Staples for a few weeks, so they ordered a new "room" in the hope he get up and running. They have just called this morning to say that they had installed the new "party" but that it was not yet light. I'm going to Staples more late this afternoon to pick it up. I'm not ready to let go in the trash and want to try to send to HP in the hope that they can fix it in a factory environment. I don't know if it's still under warranty (got as a Christmas gift in 2010), but am able and willing to pay extra, even if it is not.

I searched online to find out how to mail in a computer for repairs of the plant and got this page:

    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00064570

.. .titled "Preparation Notebook for courier to an HP Service Center qualified." This page is a subsection containing information about how to contact HP for a service request:

How to plan a repair service

For service to the Canada and the United States, contact HP to schedule a repair with a HP authorized service center. The HP agent will determine whether the HP laptop should fix it to a service center. If a repair is required, they predict a recovery of the laptop PC. The repair takes usually 5-10 working days including shipping.

I'm on the service page now, but I don't know personally make and model of the computer. I know it's a HP Pavilion Ultrabook (obviously I can't run the detection tool because I'm not on this computer). Although I don't know if Ultrabook is the term for it; When I got it, I thought it said Ultrabook, but is perhaps just a "slimline notebook" If there is such a thing. (He has a 14 "screen and no disk drive internal or a numeric keypad.) I thought small-form laptops without disk drives and keypads have been called ultrabooks but maybe I'm wrong). The search engine gives only one result for "Ultrabook" for the United States, and I know that's not my model. I know this isn't a netbook either. Is it just a laptop usually without additional equipment, then?

TL; DR, I know, but what I am hoping is that someone can provide me with a phone number or I can call to get general support and service by mail (and maybe inform me in a way to the image of a hard drive that has to stay in the machine that cannot turn to run a backup program). If it turns out that the laptop is DOA, I'll just see if I can get the same model by Amazon (or even if I have to go through eBay - HP in their "infinite wisdom" does not provide that affordable Windows 7 models, which sucks as much as useless Microsoft replacement). Right now, I just need to get this STAT baby in intensive care.

EDIT: The left hinge of the laptop just as loose, as another user described in this forum post:

    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/Hinges-problem/td-p/3945328

Without doubt, this has something to do with it too, as this user also said the display hinges have been wobbly and the computer does not. (Eventually this 'Party' the Staples guy mentioned also has something to do with the hinge, or they are two separate issues part just a coincidence).

    Hello

  • Can not see what is on the LCD - backlighting too soft

My laptop is no longer in warranty, and I wonder if it's worth it to be repaired.

The image is very very dark, but I can still see a little what is on the screen.

CAN, which means that perhaps only a cable is loose (= repair at low cost), or is it probably need a replacement of the ENTIRE lcd screen?

I'm really not familiar with price in Spain... here, I could find a complete cover with screen LCD etc for $100 or near...
