Lost Vista install disk - upgrade to WIN 7 - Help!

Well, my problem is that I have an old PC that comes with windows XP Pro. About 2 years ago, I bought Vista Home from Best Buy.
A few days ago I have upgraded to a trial version of Windows 7 Ultimate and I like 25 days to activate it, which I don't want to because I lost the characteristics that I had, I seem to have some compatibility issues, etc...
HOW to return to my Vista?
I DO NOT HAVE my disk of Vista that I bought at Best Buy.
My version of Vista is registered with Microsoft and I have my Original Product ID and product key.
It would seem that Microsoft would be able to easily provide me with a replacement CD I'm paying to have delivered to me or give me a link to loadable.
How should I proceed? Microsoft will do for me?

Thank you much for all support information.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

I bought and downloaded but not installed upgrading Windows 8 Pro, I'm currently under Win 7 64. The upgrade wizard Win gave the choice to install now, install by creating media or install at a later time from your desktop.  I chose the latter, and the Windows Installer shortcut is now on the desktop. It can dualboot (as long as you create the DVD drive with the installation files. But to install the Windows 8 Pro upgrade, the score should have a previous version of qualification of Windows (XP, Vista or Windows 7). The version recommended if you want to dualboot is the full OEM version:

  • Satellite A300 - Win Vista instalation disk missing

    Hello world.

This is my first time on any forum ever :)

In August 2008, I bought laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 - 149. There was a lot of turbulence in our relationship, but we always went by them so far.

Some time ago I added an additional hard drive just for the system. I did it just to have all important data in the entity. This extra drive decided to die.

The problem is that there is no more the oryginal disc recovery so I have a laptop, hard drive and the product key for windows, but no instalation windows disk or at least file.

Can you please help me and tell what should I do now because I can't undo what I've done already :)

    Hello

Your A300 was delivered with the operating system from Vista preinstalled (recovery image). This recovery image is saved on the HARD disk. Operating manuals s described document that each owner of the laptop must create the installation of recovery disk using pre-installed recovery media creator tool.

If I understand you right you didn't he create if it is your only error.
    What can you do now?
    You have two options:
1 / you can order the original recovery disc - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
2 / you can install own OS version

I have too many A300 and for three years I use it with Windows 7 32 bit. It works perfectly and much better than original Vista.

In any case, you do need to make the decision. If you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask.

    Good bye

  • FAQ (24): SDM won't install after upgrade to win 8

I have upgraded to Windows 8 and now the SDM will not be installed. Why is this?

HP SoftPaq Download Manager (SDM) requires .NET 3.5. Windows 8 has native support for .NET 4.x.

Unfortunately, .NET 4.x is unlike .NET 3.5 where 3.5 reflected in support for 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 all in one.  In our humble opinion, .NET 3.0 and .NET 3.5 must have been called 2.1 and 2.2 .NET, .NET respectively.

From .NET 4.0, Microsoft, is not including backwards support for .NET 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5.

Fortunately, in Windows 8, the .NET Framework 3.5 comes with the operating system. However, it is disabled by default.

To activate the .NET 3.5 in Windows 8, follow these instructions:

    • Set up the 'Control Panel'.
    • Click the "programs and features".
    • Select "Turn Windows fearures on or off" (located at the top left of the window.
    • In the dialog box, check the option ".NET Framework 3.5 (including .NET 2.0 and 3.0).
    • Click on the Ok"" button.

The SDM installation should work after that.

Hello plantingrichard, first of all, it would be useless to worry about Firmware updates, because data for these Firmware updates are stored in the devices that the firmware has been installed for.

You may be able to restore the system with the feature of restoration of HP Recovery from the hard drive to the system startup and the F - 11 key when the HP Logo screen. Just as it was when shipped, it would put all HP applications on the system.

You can then use the Vista DVD disk and perform an inplace of Windows Vista SP1 upgrade.

If you don't want all HP applications, you can perform a new installation of Vista.

You may be able to locate the Vista SP2, but I suggest the Windows Update site and download and install all updates including Vista SP2.

If you have a DVD of Vista SP2, you can use it to upgrade or new installation. The Vista SP2 would have included in the DVD of Vista SP2 SP1 updates.

As you suggest, it will take some time to complete, but you'd probably have a more stable system using this approach.

  • Vista Ultimate SP1 Pro: repeated failures to install SP2 and several failures repeat to install some other upgrades second request for help)

    Hello

I'm a professional software developer, and in the last five days I have tried in vain to upgrade my Vista Ultimate Pro (purchased in the United States two years ago) SP1 to SP2 and make that the machine is in use.

I would like professional assistance with this question and the advice to do a "clean" installation and annihilate the four days of settings and configuration of programs and software development tools is not a satisfactory answer: I want to know why I can't do an "upgrade" install: why 'upgrade install' disabled when I launch setup.exe from the original DVD / install install Vista?

1 SP2 will not install (from Windows Update or the downloaded standalone installer from MS) (see my previous post here):

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vistawu/thread/d499b50d-8f67-460f-ACF3-df2ff12ecec7

for details and for a response of S. Bodin who gave no useful tips).

2 56! other updates appear repeatedly as needing to be installed, and then they re - install whenever I have closed the computer, and, when I re - starts, they appear as being initialized, or whatever, once again.

3 IE8 is already installed, .NET FrameWork 3.5 + is already installed (as part of the VS 2010 beta install), but they appear in the queue of facility among the 56 other updates.

I can honestly say I've lost a lot of time and money dealing with the problems of Vista: it's one of the reasons I have not used for more than a year: I had hoped at the time of SP2, it would be stable enough to use.

  • MY Hard Drive died and I need to re - install my upgrade disk

My HD is dead.  I bought a new HD to replace.  Unfortunately we do not have back ups or anything, but it seems that I can not put my upgrade code to complete the installation.  I don't know what to do.   I'd rather not go buy another license that I already have several licenses to upgrade.  Is there a work around?  I can't be the first person on the planet with this situation!

If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.

How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

    Enter the product key

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.
