Low on ink J

My machine always tells me that it is low on nk - followed of a 'J '.   I have no idea what is J - is that the black cartridge or color?     I have an Officejet 4500 multifunction fax-copier.  Why are there no button to push to see how much ink is in the two cartridges at any time so I know thanks to which it must be replaced?   All I continue to be said is press 'OK' to continue.

Sorry you have a problem with to understand what needs changing cartridges.

You can check the level of ink in the printer and computer.

On the printer, press the settings button. Go to the page of print quality. It will print a page and give you levels.

If you don't want to lose any more ink or paper, you can double-click on the printer solutions Center.

Access the estimated ink levels.

You won't find any printer or the printer settings. AirPrint is a diffuse wifi printing system, so that these messages are actually sent by your printer and simply displayed on your iPad.  Stop messages, to bad draw on the printer itself.  If it is low on ink, then replace cartridges.  If this is not the case, check the printer manual or online support on erasing the incorrect error messages or status.

    Hi igloodweller,

There are some possible solutions to this problem, including performing a hard reset, clean the contacts of the cartridge and the firmware update.

  • IPad does not print, low on ink message

I have iOS iPad running 7.0.3 and office jet 8500 a910 firmware lrp1fn123ar. AirPrint works ok until about a month ago, but it's not. When I print from an application such as the mail, iPad comes up with the message 'low on printer ink', followed by the message "check printer to find errors. The printer display comes with 'incompatibility of paper, paper size or type is incorrect. Printer is not low on ink and prints ok from my hp laptop wireless. Followed the guidelines of resetting hp and apple for router, printer etc., but always the same error each time. I also installed hp sprint app and same error comes.

    Hi Rowlinson,

    Thanks for the quick response.

You're right, AirPrint is not an option to change the size of the paper so the when the print job is sent to the printer using AirPrint is search paper of the size of the document request. I suspect that the printer is 8½ "x 11" LETTER size research.  If you want to be able to change the paper size you can try to use HP ePrint app.  I have included a document with HP ePrint Mobile App FAQ as well as a document on how to get started with ePrint.

  • I can delete the ^ % #@ % constant "low on ink cartridge" pop-up window?

It seems that my printer starts to show the "low on ink cartridge" pop up when there is still a lot of ink left.  Not to mention that I can tell when he's really low on ink by looking at the printed pages, duh!  I spend way too much of my life having to close the pop-up window.  It doesn't seem to be anything under the link "for more information on this topic" help for a ' disable this % ^ % #% message forever "option.  Can anyone help?

    This might work:

Go to the folder of the printer, do a right click on your printer, select Printing Preferences, select the features tab, click printer services button. Select the configuration tab, clear the ink status screen. Depending on your operating system and printer, these choices may be slightly different.

  • Reloaded HP61 cartridge for printer 5330 Envy says low on ink

On my old HP 1300, I filled the cartridges myself and a lot of good use out of the cartridges.  I tried this on the 5330 desire that I just bought and it did not work as expected.  The printer display says locked and low on ink.  Clicking OK didn't work.  If I can't fill my cartridges on my own, I'm picking up the printer.

I looked on the internet and found a way to trick the printer using a cartridge I filled myself.

  • Cannot print in black and white when the yellow ink cartridge is low on ink

Someone please tell me that the guy I talked to customer service is a fool and there is a way to print black and white, once your color cartridge runs out of ink.

If this isn't the case, it's the cheapest clamp, all the money that I've ever heard of.  Someone please tell me they did sink that low.

Printers that have individual ink cartridges (separate magenta, yellow and cyan) must have all the colors, mounted so as to ensure that the printhead to dry out and is not damaged. Some printers who have integrated print heads (that just take the 2 black and tricolor cartridges) have the ability to print in what is known as a reserve mode. That is where we remove the empty cartridge and is able to print a test page to determine if the printer can operate in reserve mode until a replacement can be purchased. The reason for the cartridges to install, is that the printer uses ink for other purposes in addition to printing. It is also used to maintain the printer. Here is a link to learn more about this topic. He will also discuss the topic of the reserve mode as well.

  • Report of HP7520 new XL low on ink cartridges

    Hello

I just installed new HP XL cyan and magenta cartridges in my printer HP 7520. When I go to check the levels of the State, they both show a lot of ink.

When I go to print a document, I get a warning of low ink for each of them.

Can someone help me clear this up?

    Hey @jasdelta,

I would like to help you to solve the "low ink" message that you get on your computer after the installation of new HP XL Cyan and Magenta XL HP cartridges today. First of all, I need you to make sure that the printer detects full cartridges out of the façade. To do this:

From the home screen, tap the icon of ink levels . The estimated ink levels are displayed.

The Cyan and Magenta appear full or almost full?

Do you have any ink that seems low or empty?

If you still get the "Low Ink" for Cyan and Magenta message when you print from the computer, but everything looks good on the front panel of the printer it seems you maybe a problem of two-way communication. The computer is not "pick up" on update ink information correctly.

If this is the case, I would need to know which operating system you use on the computer in order to provide you with specific steps to fix this problem.

    What is my OS?

Please let me know what you find on the front panel of the printer. Good luck!

  • C6180 low on ink - NO!

I just replaced the cyan with a new genuine HP 363 cyan ink cartridge. But when I start the printer, he immediately informs me that I am low in cyan and (purple on the far right - which has not ever been notified before the replacement). I pulled the cyan cartridge, and looked carefully - no obstacle at all that I can see. I also typed it a few times not knowing if something should be shaken loose (but not really hard or anything like that). No luck. He always reports I'm very low on the cyan (and something else).

Well, the printer is not new but it is not widely used. Actually, the replacement was a cartridge supplied with the printer. So, it seems not unlikely that the cartridge is the problem. Particularly after trying to solve the problem by other means, I informed the supplier of cartridge that the cartridge was bad and he got a new. It arrived today and I installed it. No problemo.

Thought that I would realize this because I know people seek solutions to problems in these discussion forums, as I often do.

This is resolved - problem was bad cartridge.

  • How will I know what ink cartridges are low?

I have a photosmart b210. How do I know what color cartridge becomes weak? been all over the apps through the screens of the printer and cannot find it ANYWHERE! help, please!

    Hi Shinski_lynch,

    What a nice printer.

He should ask on the front if the ink is low, but you can also follow these steps to see if you are running low on ink.

    • Menu configuration (it looks like a key on the front panel)
    • Click on 'tools '.
    • Then click on "Display Ink Level".
    • That displays the ink of your printer.

Please let us know if that solved your problem.

  • Low ink pop ups

    Hello

Running OS X 10.9.4, but this question was presented with both the previous versions.  Whenever my 6500 becomes low on ink, I get about 5000 pop ups "Little ink" on my desktop.  The 'Okay' button does not automatically highlight, so I have to click on each of them to make them disappear.  I tried to open HP Utility message center, but it crashes either or I just can't find anything useful.  Someone knows how to turn off these notifications?  I am VERY annoyed by them.  Just in the space to type this description, I had about 20 new notifications.

    Help, please.

    Thank you

    Bryan

    Hi Shummer,

Hope it will be useful and have a nice day!

  • DeskJet Pro 8600: Ink black print only via Mac OS x 10.10 Officejet Pro 8600

My Pro Deskjet 8600 is low on ink Cyan but I am trying to print a document Word in black and white using only the black ink cartridge, which is full. I found the setting on my Mac and you have selected "Black Ink Only", but the printer says that I still need to replace Cyan print. Why should I Cyan to print in black and white? Please tell me that I shouldn't keep all 4 full ink cartridges just to print in black and white? See the screenshots below.

    Hello

The ink is required for the printer to use, you need to replace an empty ink cartridge to continue printing.

You can read the article which explains this requirement:

  • Envy5640: printer ink

How do you know what ink cartridge must be replaced or both need to be replaced at the same time?

    Hello @Paul1046, greetings!

Thank you for becoming a member of the HP Forum. It's a place dynamite to get help from the community, to get suggestions and find what has worked for others.

I see you are trying to figure out when to replace the cartridges. I'd be happy to be of your assistance.

You need to replace both cartridges at the same time. You can check the ink level and replace the cartridge that is low on ink. The best way to check the level of ink in your printer is to touch the ' ink' icon on the screen to your printer. That displays ink levels.

See http://hp.care/2enymuY for more detailed instructions.

PS: Your printer has built in software that will notify you when the ink level goes down.

Let me know if this is useful or if you need further assistance.

    See you soon

  • Photosmart 7520: my photosmart HP 7520 do not print: I replaced all the cartridges and always use HP ink cartridges

My 7520 gives me a message that says: "there is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn the printer off, then on. If the problem persists, contact HP. »

It was printing fine, but then it looked like it was getting low on ink. Black began to turn gray and striated. I replaced all ink cartridges. NOTE: I ALWAYS use cartridges HP, new out of the box. I followed your instructions step by step on the site, but it seems to be moot, since I tried everything. I will be so angry if I spent $ 70 on new HP to put in this printer ink and she took a dive. Please suggest solutions. I really should get this impression, am on a deadline.

I work with a MAC OSX El Capitan system

    Hello

I suggest remove you the printer cartridges

Turn on the printer without cartridge. It should start and see the lack of ink.

now, first install black and see another error.

If this isn't the case, restart the printer and do the same for the rest of the inks
