LWAP autonomous conversion

Hi all

I need to convert a "AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9" autonomous access point.

I tried these steps to convert the LWAP in stand-alone.

1 assigned IP 10.0.0.3 address to my laptop

2. place the IOS image in the cisco TFTP server "c1240-k9w7 - tar.default.

3 disabled all firewall on my laptop

4 cut the AP and pressed the reset button and started with the AP and released the button reset after 40 seconds

5 TFTP showed the attached error

Please let me know how can I convert the stand-alone LWAP. I need to do as soon as POSSIBLE.

Make sure that you PC works on your TFTP server is set to show extensions of known files. If not even after you rename the image file that the .tar extension is still there, just hidden.

    Thank you

    Mirza.

    Hi Mirza,

    You have two options.

One, amounted to autonomous and re-return to LWAPP.

Two, the command is "disabled" because you're already using LWAPP image. Your LWAP contains two IOS images: it has the prefix "RRs" and the other is the image downloaded from the WLC. Delete this image, let the AP boot image "RRs" and run the command again.

  • Conversion light wireless AIR SAP 1602

Hi, we have many points of access AIR-SAP1602I-E-K9 who are currently working in stand-alone mode, we have now a 2504 Wireless LAN controller so is possible to convert the AIR-SAP1602I-E-K9 in light mode?

Yes you can. Make sure you have at least 7.4.100.0 version on WLC in support of the AP of 1602.

    1. for the conversion of LWAP, use the recovery image. First download the rcvk9w8 software from this link.

    2. then, you copy the IOS to your TFTP server to your access point.

    3. the order, must be registered to the AP, is: archive download-sw/over tftp: / / /.

  • Case of failure the WLC

    Hi all!

I have a question. If we used a cisco aironet 3700series access point and there also a controller to manage. the question is "when the controller failure has occurred, can access us internet via AP.  I think it is only since the Aironet 3700series available standalone twice and base Comptroller, first of all, we have configured with flex base controller wired mode and then can we change the configuration in stand-alone mode setting via the console when the controller fail again? Thank you all for answer promptly!

    Hello

Reading your post, you have a 3700 flexconnect mode AP?

If so the data flow is not affected by failover wlc as traffic going on locally. If you centralized since wlc authentication, you should configure AP are capable of doing authentication when they lost wlc connectivity.

To convert lwap in autonomous, it is not a big deal. Have a look here: https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/57476/lwapp-autonomous-conversi...

  • Convert 3702i standalone

    Hi all

I'm looking for documentation on how to convert a LWAP 3702i in stand-alone mode, but not having a chance.

All the answers have been evaluated.  Thanks in advance!

Start with the image of IOS, ap3g2-k9w7 - tar.152 - 4.JB5.tar.   Then the release notes: OL-31714-02 (1) who says you're out of luck, unless you DO not want to see the Site of the investigation with the 3702!

The RN also explains how to accomplish the downgrade. (Bad Oops, just do what ios)

If it is related to the WLC, then you can cli what follows:

config ap downgrade tftp server tftp filename name-access-point address for example:

    the investigation of config tftp-downgrade 192.168.1.10 ap ap3g2-k9w7 - tar.152 - 4.JB5.tar

    Hi Rendell,

    AIR-CAP1602E-A-K9, is a controller based 802.11a/g/n.

    Should be a function controller.

I think that you can try to change Lightweigh offline, then you can use these APs. (I never used 1602E ap).

  • Join CISCO AP 1041N to a series of 2500 WLC

    Hello

I have a problem to join CISCO 10 AP 1041N to a series of 2500 WLC.

I have the following network architecture,

A Windows Server 2012 R2 (DC, DHCP and DNS server) connected to the CISCO 2960-X Series (this switch is connected to 2 other switches, same model), 10 of the AP and the WLC are connected to the same switch, as I have 3 NIC on the server I use one for Internet between the firewall and the other three are teamed together and connected to the switch.

    I tried the following methods:

-J' used the 43 Option on the DHCP server: does not work

    -J' added 2 DNS entries (cisco-capwap - controller.mydomain and cisco-lwapp - controller.mydomain): does not

-UDP Ports CAPWAP and LPWAP are enabled on the Windows Firewall: does not

My WLC is set mode controller Master, I see all of the AP in the DHCP server with IP addresses assigned by the server and the WLC as well, and they can ping each other.

Furthermore, the WLC, I have one (management) interface with VLAN ID 0, the server has (VLAN by default) no assigned ID, the switch have VLAN ID 1 (default) and I tried to change all the on the same VLAN ID 1 (server, Switch, WLC) in this case the server is not able to communicate with each other and DHCP does not work.

    Thank you for your help.

Oh, your APs are standalone, that is why they can't join the WLC. Convert into light! Here's a good guide - http://mrncciew.com/2012/10/20/lightweight-to-autonomous-conversion/

This is your culprit.   The IOS that you are running is an autonomous access point.  You need to load/run the IOS LWAP.

... And you don't need to be a Nobel Prize winner to convert AP LWAP autonomous access point.

    1. download the IOS correct.  The IOS LWAP has the prefix "RRs" in its file name.

    2. copy the "RRs" image in your access point using the command ' archive download-sw tftp: / /.tar.

    3. make sure that the boot variable changes for a startup to the image of "RRs".

    4 charge your AP.

You can enter in the mode of a TOWER configuration using command "debug console cli capwap' as shown below

    3600-1 #debug console cli capwap

This command is intended only for debugging/troubleshooting

Any changes to the configuration may cause different

    behavior of centralized configuration.

CAPWAP console CLI allow/disallow the debug is on

    3600-1 #conf t

Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.

    3600-1 (config) #.

  • The Access Points of 1142 conversion of autonomous to LWAPP

    Hi all

I'm trying to convert 5 1142 APs to LWAPP... they came as autonomous APs out of the box, but the client decided to go the unified road, so I need to convert them to finish the job.  I tried to use that tool to upgrade to ver 3.4 and it say that the AP 1142 is not supported by the upgrade tool

Is there another way to do this?

    Thanks in advance!

Console or SSH to your access point and enter the following command:

    Archive Download-sw tftp://x.x.x.y/c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA.tar

x.x.x.y = the address of your tftp server.

just like the upgrade to any newer device of Cisco. Of course you need a running tftp server, ect.,...

    Good luck to you.
