M2N68-(Narra6)

Hello

I am currently using a motherboard M2N86 - THE Narra6, which is this one here.

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01925534

And I recently bought CORSAIR Vengeance 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) which is;

http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820145345

I asked a large number of professionals and technical support if it would work and they said it would be, but it could be pushed down to the limit of the uses of the motherboard, which is OK, I don't mind. However, installing the RAM and get into the BIOS, I see that it says 'No. installed RAM', but it starts in Windows 7 64 bit very well. And when I check my computer through the windows record, he brings new 8 GB of RAM. Even the task manager of resources reports it's all there.

Then, it leads me to ask two things;

(1) how can I get rid of the problem 'no RAM installed' on the BIOS? Do I need an update and if so, where is the update and how would I do? BIOS indicates currently it is at 5.10, I don't think, but I'll check again.

(2) the RAM, although he and used, my computer slower than the 3 GB of RAM I had before. This could be the cause? This is an absolute new Windows installation with essential Windows processes running in the background except for Firefox, which I use now.

I tried to clear CMOS and it did nothing. I tried a game of RAM, boot in the computer and always says nothing is installed, but starts computer very well. I also tried to see if I could change the BIOS RAM settings, however, they seemed to be locked.

Thanks for any help,

Rookus

Thank you for the additional information.

BIOS indicates currently it is at 5.10, I don't think, but I'll check again.  There is no updated BIOS.  At this point, with the age of the computer, I am sure that there won't be any.  I suspect that the 'no RAM installed' is caused by the advanced technology of the RAM.  This could be the timings.  The BIOS of HP computers is kept in database make it easier to support the customer.  For this reason, I don't think that you will be able to remove it.  You've tried everything that I could suggest.

(2) the RAM, although he and used, my computer slower than the 3 GB of RAM I had before. This could be the cause? This is an absolute new Windows installation with essential Windows processes running in the background except for Firefox, which I use now.  This could be because of the BIOS not to recognize the memory completely.  Mixing old and new technology can be a recipe for this type of problem.  I am not sure that it will always work better.  It is great RAM if it appeared in a motherboard high-end.

  • Compatible GPU for a Compaq CQ5320Y with motherboard M2N68-(Narra6)?

I'm trying to understand what GPU I can install on my machine. I have a Compaq Presario CQ5230Y with a motherboard M2N68-(Narra6). I have it maxed out at 4 GB of ram. I upgraded to an AMD Phenom II X 4 945 CPU. I'm upgrading from the power supply to an EVGA 500W 80PLUS certified ATX12V/EPS12V power supply 100-W1-0500-KR. The slot I would use is a PCIe x 16 location.
My goals are to replace the built-in nVidia GeForce 6150SE with a card so I can use the dual display. Also, I use Sony Movie Studio that allows the GPU to help in video rendering. I am therefore looking for a card with CUDA. I guess the more hearts CUDA best? Maybe a 720 GT or GT 730? Something higher? Something lower? I don't know what's compatible. I read questions with bios and latest maps? Any ideas of what is and is not compatible with my old machine? Thank you!

I ended up buying an EVGA GeForce GT 730 2 GB GDDR5 64-bit DVI/HDMI/VGA Low Profile Graphics Card 02 G-P3-3733-KR. installed a 500 watt PSU last night and installed the graphics car this morning. It seems to work.

My operating system is Windows 7-64 bit

Checked with Geeks at Staples and they aren't really sure... someone can tell me if I can go to 6 GB and it will work?

I looked at the motherboard plug, and they say that the Board can support a maximum of 4 GB of memory (2 x 2 GB).

I guess if there were two additional locations as there were up to, while he could have executed 4 x 2 GB of PC3-10600 memory.

I have a Presario CQ5320Y desktop computer and I was looking at upgrading the processor to an AMD Phenom II X 4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4 GHz Quad-Core, in the specification system, it says the TDP is 95 Watts, but he has forward processer mentioned, who take 125 watts according to AMD, on the list of upgradable processor. I don't know if I blow on the motherboard or if it is designed to take this particular amoun just for this processor t?  Help!

    Here are the specifications of your desktop Compaq Presario CQ5320Y and its card mother M2N68-(Narra6). Based on the specifications, this model supports the following processors;

    Type of socket: AM3

    TDP: 95 watts

    AMD Phenom II X 4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb)

    AMD Phenom II X 3 Triple-Core (Heka) 7xx/7xxe

    AMD Sempron 1xx (Sargas)

It's very clear... the system supports a subset of the list up to a maximum of 95 watts. If the CPU is valued at more than 95 watts, it is not supported. In addition, "Black Edition" processors are not listed and therefore are not taken in charge.

I currently have a HP G5210UK and there a motherboard M2N68-(Narra6), so I was wondering if an AMD Phenom II X 4 945 would work.

    I also wonder if Corsair XMS3 CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) DDR3 SDRAM would work.

    Li4m53, welcome to the forum.

According to HP, the CPU should be fine.  See the section called "Information processor upgrade".

Any standard ATX power supply unit (PSU) should work correctly in the computer.  I always suggest measuring the PSU existing and comparing measures to one that is chosen.  This ensures you that there is no problem.  I have like Corsair or OCZ PSU.

This is recommended by Memory Crucial for computer memory.  Crucial makes good reasonable price of memory.  Recommended memory is guaranteed to work or they will replace it no extra cost for you.  You will only be able to use 4 GB of memory, as the computer came with Win7 32 bit.

Note: See the "memory" upgrade information here.

  • A PC would support an external drive more than it does internally?

There is almost a year with the help of this forum, I learned the hard way that my computer will not support a larger than 1 TB of internal hard drive.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-hardware/installing-a-3TB-secondary-hard-drive-on-a-Presario-CQ...

    System: Presario CQ5320F

OS: Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit

    Motherboard: M2N68-(Narra6)

    BIOS: American Megatrends 5.15, 11/06/2009

Now, with this 1 TB drive fails on me (trying to see if I can get it replaced), another question comes to mind.  Does anyone know if the system could support an EXTERNAL drive more that what it is limited to a hard drive internal?  I speculate that because an external drive no doubt connects via USB (I guess I should also understand if they are USB 3.0 ports) and the size restrictions of becoming more a software problem, not necessarily a problem of card motherboard/bios as with the drive internal.

In other words, if I can't get my 1 TB drive, replaced by the seller for failing a year and I have to buy mine, I wonder if I could buy a 2 TB external drive or 3 for this machine instead.

I know what you think... If I'm ready to drop a hundred or two on a new hard drive, why not to stretch a bit more and get a newer PC cheap but skilled to cease to live under these limitations terrible hard drive?  You would be good my friend, and I applaud the suggestion.  But let me remind you how the 'wives' work.  When you try to explain to them why the smartest thing is to spend $400 on a new computer, they recite a well-rounded list of things they think you should rather spend that money on.  Alison... • Limits of motherboard memory

Hello, I helped myself with a question of processor recently here and have one of more to ask.

    My pc is a HP Pavilion p6300uk, it hasan Athlon 2 x 2, I recently ordered a Phenom 2 x 4

The motherboard is a card mother M2N68-(Narra6).

I use Win 7 64 bit home premium which is what the pc came with.

Can I put more than 4 GB in this model pc with this card?

He can't even play world of Warcraft at a decent rate. It should be illegal for sellers of lying about the capabilities of the machine.

Here are the specifications of your HP Pavilion Slimline s5310f desktop computer and its card mother M2N68-(Narra6). According to the specification, this model is equipped with an AMD Athlon II X 2 250, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 220 watt power supply, integrated nVidia GeForce 6150SE graphics and a PCIe x 16 graphics card slot.

To make a machine of class in the game, I recommend you to upgrade all of the above components... If possible. The RAM is already maxed out, as the motherboard supports only DIMMs of 2 GB and has only 2 slots. The graphics card you access must fit into the computer and function with a 400 Watt power supply. Please contact AthenaPower.com for possible compatible power supplies. It seems that the Athena Power AP-TFX40 is a compatible replacement for HP p/n 504966-001 (regulated power supply 220 watts, 100V-240VAC ) installed on your computer. Upgrade to a maximum 95 watt TDP Phenom II X 2, X 3 or X 4 with the clock the same or higher speed for an improvement of the overall performance of the system.

The series subwoofer Slimline is very small, it is not really designed for games. Extra heat accumulates in these models when equipped graphics upgrade cards and CPU. You may need to consider to improve air flow by replacing the system with one of the highest CFM fan.

    Then it turns off.

Anyone got any ideas on this, or is it a loss of 150 quid and a new rule to never buy HP, once again, never?

Help would be greatly appreciated to get this working processor is supposed to be supported.

    PresarioOwner,

I replied to your MP, but for the sake of those that the thread of analysis, I'll reiterate it here.

I had studied this for Fattysgonewild the other day (didn't know it was the same MB ask everything).   The list of processors it displayed was me - and all those who have shipped us or could ship with the motherboard, it asked of (dependent on power supply installed, etc.).

The problem here is that all of the processors, this motherboard can support are all Socket AM3 with maximum TDP 95W.   The CPU you are trying to use is a 125W CPU - and the BIOS knows the jury cannot provide much more current and tell.  I confirmed this with the R & D at HP engineer responsible for this motherboard.

An update of the BIOS can not change that.  Even if we could be hacked, the jury would probably overheat and fail shortly after.

I found the following on Wikipedia that did a good job to summarize the features different Phenom processors that are available:

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Phenom_microprocessors

As for the motherboard plug - I see not Cree 9XX - 965 more precisely.  My guess is that the motherboard plug were posted at the time of the introduction of Narra6.   Usually, when they offer a 'special edition' or 'black label' CPU - it's a fine edition/upgrade in the product range.   I will send a request to the documentation team with a recommendation to update the document to specify maximum TDP 95W.

They would not allow you to return the CPU, but maybe they can let you swap the CPU for one that will work...

    Good luck...
