MAMP Pro question

Oddly, I had a disk on me crash lose pieces of information, including details of access on the MAMP forums and does not appear on this forum where to ask them to have access to them once again... so hopefully someone here can give me some advice on MAMP for me.

I have MAMP Pro and have had for a year, but never had the time to use it because I was too lazy to change XAMMP simply because XAMMP worked for me. Given that my drive crashed making me lose some files in the folder htdocs of XAMMP, I thought that it is high time I used MAMP Pro can I implement several document different roots - one for each task. So I could set up sites on the desktop if I chose to. At least I thought I could do it, but every time I have test in a browser, I get a forbidden message on what anyone outside the MAMP htdocs folder. The "root of the Document:"on the hosts tab of MAMP Pro also contains a red circle with an arrow inside. "

Can I have the anywhere other than the folder htdocs MAMP document root? If I can, then why I getting errors?

I would like to change the document root if I can set up a mirrored raid where all my work is preserved, but keep this separate from the operating system disc.

Thank you.

If you run an Apache/MySQL server as user www/mysql in Settings tab general MAMP so you will not be able to access the files in your user directory. This is why you cannot access your site from your office because you do not have permissions for. Switch to your user account to run the Apache/MySQL server as a user or place the files of your site on an external directory (such as an external hard drive) is not part of your user account.

All the gibberish about your hard drive crashing and not be able to access the forums of MAMP not necessary. You will need to also do not mention all the stuff on you being too lazy to change the XAMMP either.

best,

Shocker

    Hello

What is the diference between MAMP & MAMP PRO?

I got both but PRO is due to expire, but I don't know what is the difference, if any.

For ALL the GURUS here, you have MAMP PRO?

    YES?

    ISN'T IT?

Is the sum of $59 worth?

    Thank you very much

The main advantage of MAMP Pro is that it simplifies the process of configuring virtual hosts. There is no need to modify the hosts file, which is a hidden system file. Nor do you need to set the virtual host in Apache conf file. If you do a lot of php development, the cost is probably useful.

If I remember correctly, it also makes it easier to change some PHP and Apache configuration settings. I got MAMP Pro for many years, and I do not regret the cost. However, I tend not to use it very often because I create training material, and I suppose that most people use the free version of MAMP or XAMPP/WampServer.

  • Impossible to use Edge inspect with local files or MAMP Pro

I installed edge on my Mac, inspect the Chrome Extension, as well as on my iPad 3.

All 3 on the same wifi.

I can correctly display pages that are available on the open internet open in my Chrome Office to inspect on the iPad.

However, any page, I opened with the file:// Protocol, or via the MAMP Pro Server on my Mac will not display to inspect on the iPad.

As I develop my sites locally (especially using MAMP Pro) and it is the case of the exact use I would need to inspect for, am I missing something here or you can only view pages on the Internet?

    * ding * that's the problem.

I assume that you have changed your hosts file to configure the virtual host name, right? On-board devices inspected do not know these settings and therefore cannot know where to go to. We have a couple of posts on the edge use inspect with virtual hosts here:

    http://blogs.Adobe.com/edgeinspect/tag/virtual-hosts/

I think that the solution of xip.io is a little simpler. Try using that and let me know if you can/Can ' t get it works.

  • VMware Fusion with Mamp pro?

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone had a tutorial that would allow me to use the view my localhost site on the side of the window with mamp pro. I already work on the side mac just I can't see it on the side of Window XP (VMWare fusion). Anything would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Kevin,

In addition, name resolution when you are using the hosts file is not as smart when you are browsing the web.  If your entry in hosts is just online.tst, so you need only online.tst in the field of the browser.  Some browsers like to 'help', by adding at the beginning of www before the name that's why I usually do the www.online.tst entry in the hosts file.  Either way should work (omit the www in the browser, or add www to the hosts file).  Since you are using port 80, then you don't need to reference the port at all when you enter the address in the browser.

I hope that you get.  WoodyZ had a good idea about ping, you have to ping the exact name you want to use in the browser.

As a final point, the entry in hosts can have several names for the IP address, so an entry like MAC_IP_ADDR online.tst www.online.tst will also work and allows to refer to what happens.

I use MAMP, same opening ports of my router for others to see from time to time, and it works very well.  One last thing, you might want to consider if you want people outside your local network, see the MAMP website is to use a service like dyndns. Works pretty well, if you are developing a site for someone and you want what they see it before hosting gets together to the top.

  • iPad Pro - questions before you buy

    I buy the iPad Pro 12.9 ".

I have an old computer Intel iMac with Leopard (I know - obsolete).

    My questions:

-Can I connect the iPad to my computer and access to the files of my iMac to download on the internet on my iPad?

-Can I connect a Kensiington trackball to the iPad?

-Can I connect my printer to the iPad?

    Answers would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Nina

    Number on the trackball

The printer is a '' maybe. '' If your printer airprint enabled it will work natively. If it's just a wireless printer, you may need a soft of the manufacturer of the printer, or a third party printer app. If she is not a wifi printer, then no, it won't work because there is no support for wired printing

  • RAM upgrade for mid-2012 MacBook Pro question?

So, I bought some RAM Corsair (2 x 8 GB) to install in my MacBook Pro for mid-2012. It has been well over a month now and I get freezes and flaws that were not there when the Apple RAM stock has already been installed. My question is... are it freezes and the seeds one result of the brand of RAM I have installed (Corsair) or the fact that I am superior to the amount of 8 GB of RAM recommended for this laptop of Apple to the particular address?

    Thank you.

As you can see here, your MBP can, indeed, support for 16 GB of RAM. However, DIMMs must meet Apple specifications which are often much more demanding that really meant DIMMS for PC can meet. One of the advantages of buying from OWC (in the link) is that they provide 100% support so their products need to be designed with the Mac in mind. If you have no problem with DIMM Apple, but you do with Corsair DIMMS, I would say getting them replaced or, better yet, to get a refund.

  • MacBook Pro question mark flashing, no wifi, only own internet connection

I have a flashing question mark on start up with my MacBook Pro. Through the process of restarting, but it asks me to choose a wifi network. I did not, as my computer has its own internet connection, so can not continue to the next step. Help please?

If you are connected to internet through being directly connected to a modem via ethernet. You should be able to ignore the WIFI configuration prompt. Have you used the option of disk utility to check the repair or erase the disc? The withdrawal volume. You can also try using command/Option/R for recovery to see if you can use ethernet. I did once and trying to remember how I did it.

  • New arrival 11 Pro, question?

This post has 2 parts, a question and a problem: (processor core i5 4 GB, 128 GB drive)

First of all, the question is the place of sessions 11 pro high-dimmable to 8.1 of Windows Pro via the propack?

Secondly, I had a problem where when the device goes to sleep, or when I push the power button when I'm done using or the screen will turn off by itself, it will start.  I have to press on and hold the power button until it turns off then turn it back on again.

    ctdreamin
First of all, these really had nothing to do with blocking system when he falls asleep, since the tasks do not exist or were not activated. The issue has cleared up, perhaps when I installed the 8.1 victory pro pack. Do not install had nothing to do with compensation she no more, but whatever it is I'm glad, that he stopped. Overall, I really like the Tablet, there is that one thing that I find annoying, is the brightness setting. I wish that we had more control, the just thing dims without reason, then brightens upwards a few seconds later. I played with the brightness controls, but does not, just give me a light control on the task bar and I would put myself...

Easy as pie, just disable him "enable adaptive brightness" in the display of the power Plan section. You can also find the keyboard brighten and darken the keys F11, F12 key.

  • Win 8 (Pro) - Questions on program files, the desktop icon and taskbar

    Hello

I just upgraded successfully Win 7 (home) to Win 8 (Pro).

I have a few questions in mind:

Q1: A program icon can be PIN to the taskbar and desktop at the same time?

Q2: Under Win 7, user can easily see all installed programs by clicking on all programs in the Start Menu and select no matter what and copy and paste it on the desktop or PIN to the taskbar task, but under Win 8, I could not find this feature. CAB user to access the program to install all at the same time? Or the user needs to type the name of the program to the search box one by one? How to pin it in the Start Menu Win 8 on the desktop instead?

Appreciate someone could help me in this area.

    Thank you

First question: Yes, of course.  You can place an icon where you want. Desktop, taskbar, start screen, at the same time.

    Second Question:

The start of Windows 8 has a screen view "all programs" similar to the former in Windows 7 (except the new is full screen).  To get her on Windows 8, right click on an empty spot.  If you have Windows 8.1 update, which makes it easier to find by putting an arrow at the bottom of the main screen.

To take an icon from the start menu or the list of applications and put them on your desktop, right click, choose "Open file location" and then copy / paste the icon on the desktop.

  • iPad Wifi Pro question

I just bought a new iPad Pro and noticed that my wifi falls more often when I'm about 40-50 feet away from my router.   My other iPad works fine at the same distance.  I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so what has been done to remedy.  Thank you!

    Hello Snow4157,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. I know that problems with the Wi - Fi on your iPad Pro, it's not what you expect.

Based on what you said, it seems that you may be having problems with tight WiFi. Good news, it's these 2 items must narrow down and solve this problem!

    1. first of all, make sure that you have the recommended settings on your wireless router, because I've personally found that these settings can have a significant effect on its use and a WiFi signal:

Recommended settings for the WiFi routers and access points

    2. If you still experience this issue after you set the parameters of your Wi - Fi router, this article has troubleshooting for your iPad Pro:

  • So many MacBook Pro questions

Had a lot of problems with my MacBook Pro (A1286) that I plan to splurge on a MacBook Air BUT I hope for a last resort to save this thing.

My biggest problem is that it is so incredibly slow. I deleted so - photos, music, documents - and I also made records of any repair over and over again. It is STILL slow. I almost have the impression that it's significantly slower when I installed El Capitan.

My new number is with the trackpad. It barely runs. I have to push HARD for her to answer, and even then it only works when the user clicks on a given area. I don't know what to do. I understand that computers are machines and I've had it for a while and should be expecting it but it's so frustrating.

Any advice would be helpful. Thank you!

Batteries on older machines swell and disrupt the trackpad and keyboard.  Also a swelling batteries * may * but not always leak chemicals.  Assessment of Genius Bar of the battery may be a good idea... evaluation is free and probably done better to Genius Bar if it is swollen.

The rest could be matter of simple software like install "anti-virus" which are useless and slow things right down.  But get the battery checked first.

  • RAID 5 on 6 Pro question

I have problems with my Pro 6. I was never able to get my Raid 5 storage for make sense. Is less than the correct figure of total storage? I thought that must be read higher than 10 TB.

    Am I missing something?

Looks like you have reached the limit of extension of volume 8 TB.

What drives and how many have been installed when you have finally done a factory reset (clear all data, settings, everything)?

  • home vs pro question

I'm looking for a reputable dealer that still has copies of XP in stock so I can move a portable older that someone gave me form Vista to XP (it has only 1 GB of RAM).

I realized something. I intend to take the laptop to my night school and connect to their wireless network. I know that some other pupils can be printed on the network of campus computer labs, but I don't know exactly how they do it. I'll explain how I think that happens, and I wonder if I can do this with XP Home as a connection to the domain is involved.

Computer labs have removable hard drives which are awarded to students who can be started, and give local administer rights, and students like me install and configure Windows ourselves on these discs through copies of XP provided by the school.

When I got to the top, I had implemented it a system of working group, however, I was still able to connect to the print server through the use of Start-> Run and entering \\printservername. Windows XP then invites me my login and password.

If I try to connect to the print server with XP Home, using this method, I will be unable to connect because of a lack of support from area? I learned the differences of XP Home & Pro when I got my associates degree in the early to mid 2000s, I confess that I don't remember the details as I used XP Pro at home for various reasons, not the least is that I had 1 copy for a while.

If only I could transfer an OEM of XP Home license from a tower dead to this laptop, it would be much cheaper.

You can always access and print to printers in domain using the Home version-, but you will be prompted for your login to the domain each time that you connect to the printer. -B-

  • The upgrade from XP - Pro 32-bit to Windows 7 Pro questions

I'm working on a T3400 precision with XP Professional. I believe that when it was purchased in January 2010, it's a PC running Windows 7 Pro and he ordered with an installed XP Professional downgrade. The sticker on the Tower Microsoft says Windows 7 Pro.

In any case, it is on the "Compatible with Windows 7" list of Dell, but I'm under Windows 7 Upgrade advisor to check that there is no problem. (It worked for at least 3 hours now...) We did no change of material from the purchase - just different programs.

I read the guide from Microsoft for the upgrade & I understand I have to perform a custom Setup out of the upgrade disc. Which means reinstalling all my programs. Which is a pain but nothing I can't handle most of my programs. Except that I am concerned about programs that was already installed on the PC by Dell. Namely my Adobe Acrobat & Microsoft Office 2007 programs. Did I lose those? Or I'll be able to download & reinstall the wrench off the Microsoft sticker on my tour?

We have not bought a disc yet. I guess that we need Windows 7 Pro upgrade disc. Anything else I should know?

In the United States, you can request a Dell installation disk:

    support.Dell.com/.../backupcd_form

Alternatively, you can also install using retail media, then activate by phone from Microsoft (not Dell) using the product on your COA key:

    www.heidoc.NET/.../14-Windows-7-direct-download-links

In regards to Adobe and office... you should have received license for those cards.  If you have lost, you can probably recover with Magic Jelly Bean or similar, get support for retail, then activate using the keys.

I recently bought a new computer with Windows 8 on it.  I then bought a copy of Windows 8 Pro and tried retail upgraded.

In the middle of the upgrade, I have accidentally hit the power switch on my switch and my computer off.  When I tried to finish the Windows 8 Pro upgrade it would not allow me, saying that my CD key was already in use.

    What should I do?

    1. press the Windows key + X , and then clickrun, and then type: slui.exe 4

    2. then press the ENTER"" key.

    3. Select your "country" in the list.

    4. choose the option "activate phone".

    5. stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    6. explain your problem clearly to the support person.
