  Thanks John.  I did all this and still nothing worked. I finally got help from a stranger (not in the USA) tech of cat. I guess she got hold of me and sent me a link to download this file. Eureka! It worked...  Posting it here in case anyone else has this problem. She told me that there is NO SUPPORT for Pro 9 except the forums. I'm happy you're here.   Try to use your own DNS server.  Because if the DNS server that you use currently is not translate www.company.com name to IP address nn.nn.nn.nn, it will look like you do not have internet access.

  It is a HP Envy Phoenix 810, with a monitor (not touch) HP, both purchased December 2013. 8.1 Windows running automatic updates; using McAffee All - Access AV, up-to-date. Standard desktop applications. No software of Dingo.

  If you have configured the Windows system restore, I suggest go back to a restore point before you started having the problem.  This will tell you if the update is the problem.

  Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

  I went through countless articles in the knowledge base and tried all the suggestions I've seen, other than registry cleaners because I had a bad experience with this earlier.  I tried so many things that I lost count and the memory of some of them.

  I reached point is never install the update (an option that I prefer not to use) or creating a clean Windows install on another drive (an option that I prefer not to use, but I'm a little more friendly to).  I already started to back up files to prepare a clean install, but I reach out one last time before I pull the trigger.

  Thanks, but I tried to fix myself on a personal level - my IT Department is not hot.

  In any case, the problem was resolved after much googling - I took possession and renamed a bunch usb*.sys file in the Windows\System32\drivers folder, uninstalled items usb from Device Manager and did a scan for the hardware changes.
  This solves the problem.

  Well, generally, I would suggest that you should disable Windows in energy saving power management feature, but you have already done this... Make sure that this power WLAN economic option is set for maximum Performance, even for the battery mode and all power profiles!

  And what BIOS up-to-date? You have the latest version of the BIOS installed or using an older version?
