Why is it you're obsessed with single line of sar?
OS has been busy making a household for a snapshot.

  • The performance of the host CPU / use

I noticed a strange behavior that one of the esx host processor cores work 100% all the time, see attached file shows running HOST - CPU 1 - 0 at 100% all the time, CPU - 1, 2 and 3

are not, if I take a quick glance at other hosts, the use of the CPU are also almost evenly divided into 4 cores of the processor... is this normal behavior for the HOST-1?

    (cluster DRS/HA 6-host running on 3.5u2 and 2.5u3)

Connect to the ESX host and high performance and type 'P', to sort by CPU usage.  See that heavy trucks are at the top.

Remember that the service console runs only on CPU - 0, then it would follow that something running on the service console of that eats the host CPU, or there is a problem on this machine.

  • Identify the best CPU using multiple queries on the database environment

    Hello

We live high CPU on one of our development servers (AIX 6/11 GR 2). It has several databases and we need check the queries that are causing hiking of the cpu.

So, how can we specific database queries and it is when there are multiple databases?

I could use nmon to get the process, $ query session v and v $, v$ sqlarea, if there is only one.

    Thank you!

    Hello

There will be no direct approach (check if GRID allows to control/OEM), AWR and STATSPACK review should be best approach once and for all the DB to fix permanently, if not then...

Identify top/topas/nmon top or 10 os process ID's, although they features will look like unless the owner is different.

Return to the command prompt using ps - ef

  • Should have 8 000 emails in my Inbox Windows Mail (Vista) considerably slow down my computer with 3 GB of RAM and trigger alerts from Norton of "the High CPU use by Windows Mail.

In addition, about half of my 8,000 e-mails are unread. Thus, the fact of having 4 000 unread emails in my mailbox Windows (Vista) slow down my computer more than if they were 4 000 read emails?

If so, is there a quick way to mark all read emails as read in Windows Mail (Vista)?      .. .in windows Live Mail (Vista)?

Even if these unread e-mails degrade the speed, is there a quick way to mark all read emails as read in Windows Mail (Vista)?... .in windows Live Mail (Vista)?

I also regularly get an alert Norton of 'Use of disc high by Microsoft Windows Search Indexer.'  Gravity is the next, and what can I do to fix the problem?

Finally, I have a lot of folders: would have 2,000 emails in the Inbox Windows (Vista) slow down a computer more than if 2 000 mails were one or more files?   This change of response if the e-mail is unread vs bed?

#2: the Inbox is accessible by your computer whenever he asks new messages. The fact of having 1,000 messages in the Inbox slow it down? I have no personal experience, since I never have more than a dozen or messages in my Inbox, but it is so likely. If you have lots of free space on the hard disk, the messages would be better in another folder (s). Even if you create more WinMail's local folders and move messages to them.

I would also say this. Try to compact and repair the database.

  • calculate the CPU used for awhile...

    Hi all

Statpack/AWR report for like 6 hours. How can indicate the % of CPU used for this moment? As we do some planing ability and we need to know how much CPU our instance serve? Thus, when we give the final number of management... .to tell them if 4 CPUS or 8 processors etc etc are good or not... Thank you

Don't you see a 'CPU time' in the 'Top 5 Timed events' in the AWR report? If this isn't in the Top 5, you would always see in "statistical model time."

In addition, statistical CPU OS are in 'the operating system statistics '.

  • Impossible to copy files to the Sansa Fuze using Windows 7 (drag and drop, or Windows Media Player)

    Hello

Yesterday, I bought the Sansa Fuze and I have problems copying files to the device using either Windows Media Player (Sync) or Drag and Drop (Explorer).

    The symptoms are:

    (1) the device is recognized and available in Windows 7 (Series USB MSC - sorry don't have it with me right now)

    (2) took me to upgrade to the latest firmware, which has worked flawlessly

    (3) when I try to drag and drop a file on the device (I use Windows 7, 64-bit), it starts, but doesn't seem to calculate the size of the files or waiting time to download correctly.  It is followed by a slow progressive, until the computer crashes, resulting in a constant 100% of the CPU.  The only solution is a hard reboot

    (4) when you use Windows WM, the device is recognized, okay and the synchronization starts, but it then stops without reason.  Once again, the processor springs and requires a reboot

    (5) using the results 3 and 4 in 1-5 files being copied across, but not more.

    (6) I tried several albums and one album at a time, but cannot determine if that makes a difference.

    Help, please!

    See you soon,.

    Richard

It may be a bug in Windows 7. But one thing to try is to go to the Device Manager (assuming that Windows 7 still has), uninstall the "rocket" (under USB controllers), and then run add hardware to find and reinstall the driver.

Use the MTP with Windows Media Player mode, MSC mode without.

  • Re: Qosmio G50-10 t: How can I use the Quad - Core CPU Toshiba HD?

    Hello.

And how you can use several Toshiba Quad Core HD processor with four RISC SIMD 128-bit processors in the Qosmio G50-10 t except that: enables support for H.264 encoders / HD / MPEG2 decoders, with functions for convert, transcode, navigate using the face (Face Navigation) detection and control actions. INJURY is not used!

Maybe someone knows some software sales in which it could be used.

    Hello

This Quad Core CPU is an additional processor that is not always in use.
It was designed in the order using the main processor in some of the media process.
For example, the Quad Core CPU works during the encoding or decoding of certain video standards. If you want to change it the standard of the video, the Quad Core CPU helps you complete this quick procedure.

In addition, it improves the quality of the video (not HD). So, theoretically, you can view the videos in HD quality.
Of course, you won't get the same quality as a film that has been recorded in full HD, but the Quad Core helps you improve the 576i pictures.

  • Unique use of VM CPU on the system dual quad core CPU

My environment: two machines, a Dell 2950 with dual quad core CPU, running ESX 4.0 Advanced.

Machine 1 to several virtual machines on it.

Machine 2 has a virtual machine that hosts a .NET/IIS web application built by an external supplier. The web application is having performance issues (users requests take a long time to complete in some cases). I suspect, without having yet done an in-depth, analysis is that the web application is not well resolved/optimized/designed.

The declared owner of hardware requirements is exactly how Machine 2 is - dual quad core CPU. However - There's the rub: I did not understand if a single virtual machine running on this computer can actually use all the resources, particularly CPU resources, on the machine. And my application provider takes that position - since we have not met the minimum hardware requirements for the application, which can be the cause of the poor performance, which means that the seller has no responsibility for the performance issue.

I tried to understand/consider the Enterprise more than vSphere edition, because it seems possible that only this version of vSphere would allow me to assign all the hearts of all the processors from the server to the computer virtual one. However, this seems like overkill, and also, after some reading on the SMP of Enterprise Plus features, it seems, as using SMP can help in some cases and poorly in others.

Right now I'm looking to remove vmware Machine 2 and just install the application on the machine, in order to eliminate the possibility that vmware restricts the application to all physical resources (CPU). But I thought I'd ask a glimpse of this group first.

    Any input appreciated.

    Thank you

    Brad Harding

Each physical core (or "core" hyperthreading) is considered to be one vCPU. You will therefore 8 vCPUs in your system (assuming hyperthreading is not enabled). However, you can approve vCPU which means that you can run several virtual machines than available vCPUs. This is because you do not usually have the VMs that need all the power of the processor, and they can be used more efficiently with VMware planning the vCPUs.

  • Quad Core CPU - how is used by workstation?

I just bought a new machine with a quad core CPU.

I know that Workstation only supports a maximum of two hearts. What I don't know is: what does that mean? That means, that if I would have four virtual machines running...

    1. they all do they share only the first two nuclei of the four cores available?
      .

    2. or each of them uses a distinct nucleus? (or two hearts arbitrary if I would assign two to a virtual machine)

    Please enlighten me!

No, my computer supports a maximum of two virtual processors. All physical hearts are deemed be a CPU for the guest operating system. So if your have four hearts in your application assigned to the guest host and two vCPU it there always uses two cores at one point of time.

  • Cannot use 'lab1' host because the host CPU is not compatible with the judgment of the virtual machine suspend state.

I see that this error was mailed here, but can't seem to find a position with a resolution.

We use Lab Manager 4.0.4 and just upgraded the hosts in our laboratory.  Before updating to ESXi 4.1 ESX 4.0 u1, we cancelled all VMs in all configurations.  There is none who were suspended, they were all turned off.  We have improved vcenter 4.0 to 4.1 as well.  We moved from a dell poweredge 1950 with two quad core intel L5410 to a r610 with two quad core intel processor E5506.

When I try to turn on some of the lab configurations (our VM models all work fine), I get this error:

    • Cannot use 'lab1' host because the host CPU is not compatible with the judgment of the virtual machine suspend state.

I threw the State for the lab configuration (even if it was turned off and cancelled) and still get this message.  I guess the processor architecture of these chips is quite similar, and both are Intel.

If I go into this directory of Manager of laboratory inside the data store for one of these virtual machines that does not light and add to the inventory, he turned and starts fine on my server esxi 4.1.  So how do Lab Manager to get account it's well deploy and start it?

    Hey billk.

Although not supported completely, you can solve it by going to the SQL of Lab Manager database.  Make sure that you back up your database before you do anything like that.

Open the table "fsdir" and corresponds to the dir_id with the id Lab Manager VM.  Once you find the relevant line, change suspend_proctype_id to null (Zero-Ctrl).  You can do this while Lab Manager is still running.

The results can be unstable (i.e. Windows can crash if it was a drastic change of CPU), but at least you look at a hard reset.  The bat reset certainly not being able to return to the previous state.

Also note that while Lab Manager does not include CVS, if you activated, your virtual machines still work in CVS mode.  If you have a mixture of heterogenious of hosts in a cluster for Lab Manager, you can see this question pop up a lot.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with take back the virtual machine because of the VCA, but Lab Manager thinks otherwise and prevents it.

  • CentOS 5.5 100% CPU use 50% of the CPU of the host - very simple config

    Hello.

On an upgrade on ESXi 4.0u1 - & gt; ESXi 4.1, I got a CentOS 5.5 32bits with VMware tools and local storage SCSI RAID5.

    Host: IBM x 346 Intel Xeon 3, 4 Mhz single core, hyper-threading, dual-CPU 10 GB of RAM.

    VM: CentOS 5.5 32bits, kernel 2.6.18 - 194.11.1.el5 #1 SMP

VM resources: 4 vCPU, 4096 MB RAM, affinity and default limits

I've got high utilization of the processor on this light apache + mysql box. In order to optimize the system, I came to this observation:

-When my CentOS VM uses 100% cpu, the ESXi host uses only 50%

My question is: why is it impossible to use more cpu, as this the only VM on the host?

    Clues or tips?

    TIA

First of all, you have an absolutely incorrect configuration.

You see 2 CPU * HT * 1 core = 4 logical processors in ESXi. But actually it's only 2 physical cores, and you should not give any VM on the ESXi exceeding 2 vCPU, because it isn't real processors and VM is not aware of it.

If you have 2 virtual machines with 2 vCPUs each then Yes, HT will give performance gain, but not in this case.

  • Acquisition of images with 3 USB cameras causing too many uses of the memory/cpu

    Dear experts,

I'm trying to capture images with 3 cameras USB, located in 3 different positions. I have to initialize each cameras using USB list vi camera when switching between cameras. I realize that, by making this method causing too many uses of the memory/cpu and can cause CPU hang up. If I stop the program, the memory/cpu counter are down.

Do you know how to reduce this problem.

    Thank you
