Maximum number of files to a vmdk format VMFS5 file

Dear all,

I read the VM document maximum rates of VMSX5 and it State "files by volume = approximately 130 690.

Does it means that if I have a VMDK file that is mapped to a windows drive E file server, and the number maximum file storage inside the drive E is only 130 690?

In fact, I am facing the problem of migrating to the new file server in a VMESX5 with a big VMDK in drive E and have now about 400 000 files in drive E. But when I copy a file (total number of files inside should be about 70,000) from the old server to network on the new file server E drive files, it copies only about 40 000 files.

Any idea?

It make me mad because the schedule is very tight. Should I change the VMDK lun LUN Raw? Can lun Raw overcome the limit?

Thank you!!!

Notmen

That you create a virtual machine, it consists of a couple of files like virtual disk files. In ESXi each virtual disk consists of 2 files, the hard of descriptor file and the data.vmdk file (you can find these files as only a single file in the browser data store). It's so two records of the maximum files allowed.

You use a single data store for 29 millions of files in the NTFS file system?

Yes, comments (Windows NTFS) files are found in the file (a file on a data store) hard and do not count against the maximum crowd at all.

This is on WinXP SP3 and these files would be created in Word.

    Thanks for any idea.

I think that with Win7, 20,000 of handling should not be a problem.  Depending on how you access them (such as manually via file |) Open who needs time to load all files to choose among them) it will be slow, but even XP that will handle a lot, even though it may be slower.

  • Windows 7 Photo Screensaver slide show the maximum number of Images? Recommended file specifications?

I use Photos as a screensaver as described here:
It seems that if I have too many image files for the photos as screensaver. After the screen saver slide show has worked for at least 20 minutes, it lags behind trying to leave the screen saver and return to the desktop.
What are the specifications of file recommended for use of photos as a screen saver?
    • file size in MB (which resembles all default values in C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper
    • dimensions maximum file (which looks like all default values in C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper
    • types of files (extensions)
    • maximum number of images supported
When you look at the pictures in my file they all seem to be in the 2 MB and range 1920 x 1200. So my only guess is that having too many is the problem. It does not lag when I change the directory of C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper. I'm only here a hypothesis, some data of real functional specs would help immensely.

    Hello

-Did you do changes on the computer before this problem?

Method 1: Run the Microsoft FIXIT from the link and if this resolves the issue.

Fixed problems with Windows Live Photo Gallery that does not

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_photo_and_slideshow_diag/en-us

Method 2: Follow the steps mentioned below that can help you in the matter of fixing.

    (a) open with Windows Explorer %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\(you will find files there are two: TranscodedWallpaper.jpg and slideshow.ini).
    (b) open slideshow.ini > Remove its content > Save changes.
    (c) delete TranscodedWallpaper.jpg (you can substitute your own file of that name).
    (d) restart the computer.
    (e) re - create the slide show and check if it helps.

Method 3: If the problem persists, I suggest to maintain the computer in clean boot mode and check if the problem persists.

A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:

I change the value of db_files 1021 to 1500 in the initPT853.ora file and restart the Linux operating system. But get the same error as below:

As we see above, the HRCS90 instance work corretly, and PT853 does not start. Parameter DB_FILES the file initPT853.ora has a problem.

    My question is:

1021 and 1,500 is not enough for a starting PT853 instance, what value should be used for the the file initPT853.ora DB_FILES?

    Thank you.

Are you do not use a spfile? The file actually contains 3 values? What's the latest? Have you checked the value in the database side "see the db_files parameter?

Still, I don't know what that means.

Again, I don't understand what exactly are HRCS90 and PT853. Can not help.

I am sure, you have not a problem with this setting, 1500 files in the database is fairly large. Recently, I've built a demo, the default 1021 was ok for me. You should have done something wrong somewhere.

  • What is the maximum number of messages/files that Thunderbird can handle?

I plan to migrate from Outlook (2007) to Thunderbird (on a PC MsWin7 - Ultimate 64-bit). Unfortunately, I have a lot of historical emails that I still have and periodically reference; Currently, these are several PST files. Reading some of your prior support questions, I discovered that Thunderbird use monolithic mail a database, apparently mapped in the structure of normal file/folder of the operating system (i.e., anything that the user selectable, as supply of PST files); but that Thunderbird will suck in all messages from Outlook PST files during installation, assuming that all of him are open at the time of the installation of Thunderbird (?).

QUESTION: Which is the case, is there the ALL LIMITS on the number of files or messages that Thunderbird can handle?

No, I really am aware, other than the available disk space on the computer.

The limit of 4 GB (per folder) on local files was lifted, but I don't know that I hope the fix. SO think 4 GB as a limit on the size of the folder.

I'm not aware of any practical limit to the number of accounts. I've heard hundreds and dozens of personally.

I guess that the file system file size limit still applies, but because it is in windows 7 from 16 to 256 TB in Windows 8, I don't think it's really a matter of concern. (I have not heard a single hard drive this size still).

With optional mailDir structure to store messages in Thunderbird 38 (a mail a file), then even this limit is theoretical, otherwise than for the overall index and the index file. Note that this is an option for 'New' accounts, those not imported and is not the default.

  • maximum number of entries in "characteristics of writing."

What is the maximum number of channels in the "write data"? It seems that it is only 16 entries. I have more than 16 parameters in my application. What do you suggest me? I would like to have all of the data collected in a single file.

The Multiplex module allows to combine several strings into one. In general, use the parameter "by block. The output will be a single thread with all multiplex channels in the block. You can have a maximum of 16:1 multiplexed. Use several Multiplex modules. They do not have to be symmetrical, but do not keep track of how many channels is multiplexed on a single thread.

In the writing module, click the box to the format Options file (ASCII or DASYLab) - at the bottom of the dialog box, you configure so that it matches how you multiplexes - by block or by value (for example). And then, on the right, set the number of channels is multiplexed in each of the input channels.

Do this way said DASYLab disabling multiplex the data in the file. You will lose the channel names. You can configure the names of channel for multiplexed channels using the chains. At the bottom of the dialog box, you can assign a global chain for each channel. Tedious, but it can be done.

  • < cfspreadsheet > and "...". "maximum number of fonts has been exceeded" error in Excel 2007

A client and I both live the same error message when you open a spreadsheet generated by ColdFusion version 9.0.0 (deployment of Windows). The generated workbook is relatively complex, with a summary tab and about 25 other tabs.

Here is the exact error that opens in Excel 2003 and 2007:

Some text formatting may have changed in this file, because the maximum number of fonts has been exceeded. It can help to close other documents and try again.

This only happens when the amount of data stored in the document is larger (but I can't tell you exactly how big the document must do in order to start to trigger this error). I'm no formatting with fonts, which explains why this error is confusing for me. There are some columns I'm formatting in different data formats in each tab, things like this:

Here is some information from a post on experts-exchange website. It seems that this could be applicable in your case...

This error is generated when you have maxed out the internal formatting tables.

Here are a few notes on the reduction of the use of the entries in the table formatting...

A common misconception is that at some point in formatting any range of contiguous cells results in smaller workbooks. It is, for the most part, is not true. The only time where excel keeps the size of the workbook is when a column of cells is formatted to a starting cell to the bottom of the worksheet. The starting cell can be on a line, but the last cell must be on the last line of the spreadsheet. Layout of several contiguous columns at the bottom of the worksheet gives the same result as formatting each column individually.

Note that when formatting of the horizontal borders in a column, do not set the bottom as border doing so will require as much file size as if every cell in the column have been formatted separately. Set inside horizontal border only.

A quick test shows this behavior. Create two new workbooks. In the first, select the A2:A65536 cells, set the background color and save. In the second, select the A2:A65535 cells, set the background color and save. Using Windows File Explorer, look at the size of the files of the two workbooks. Note that the first workbook is approximately 12 KB in size, while the second is more than 2 MB.

Formatting columns of cells in this way has another advantage: the used range is unaffected. In other words, if the formatting of the cells A2:A65535 the used range is set to A2:A65525. However, if the A2:A65536 cells are formatted, the used range is affected. Note that this is not true in line or horizontal direction. In other words, a line in the format of the column at the right IV reset the range used to include column IV. Also, note that this problem has been corrected in Excel 2003 and lines behave like columns in 2003 regarding the used range.

Another interesting aspect of formatting of columns to the bottom of the worksheet is that the completed workbook file size advantage is not compromised by reformatting the individual cells within the larger range. For example, if A2:A65536 of cells are formatted as cell A1000 is then formatted another way, the size of the workbook file continues to be small.  This is true even if cell A65536 got rid of all formatting. Note that the unformatted cells consume space because they are exceptions to the first formatting and so services provided by the formatting at the end of the worksheet are eroded as more and more cells are positioned to other formats or erased formats.

  • Pole #1 PC Performance and RAM: quantity, average, maximum size of files Adobe

Do a little research here regarding the performance of the PC and the main memory/RAM.

If you all could estimate/Riddle the minimum and maximum amount of files Adobe program, as well as file sizes, by each program (Illustrator, Photoshop etc...) I drop the results into a spreadsheet and provided details to etc. (at least attempt, based on number/quantity of participants, if the top I'll provide statistics at the end).

Also indicate what is the size of the file you usually launched and how many of them. These averages are expected to produce some very interesting/useful information.

More people who best meet of course (unless this has been done or his stats there somewhere already).

Since I work mostly in Illustrator, these are the files that I took to target when looking for my storage by specifying the .ai extension. (both bad operating system couldn't do the math).

I specifically made the research by entering the generic asterisk before the file extension, for example: * .ai, then by specifying all storage locations (Windows, choose 'My Computer' etc., Mac do not know, I have one, just don't use it often so that if anyone would care to specify it).

For windows, the status bar at the bottom of the window has provided total number of files. To get out of the category, I've just enlarged screen and first counted the number of files poster by scrolling the window. Then moved/positioned column size of file, you click this header to sort etc. from the bottom up, then began to scroll the window with a simple click of mouse (not by the arrows) and counted the pages for the file/category varies so thought to them.

    My results (rounded):

    Illustrator

    Total files: 900 +.

    Min. size: 3KB

    Maximum size: 300, 00KB (or 300 MB)

Based on the results of research and my some quantities of products and file sizes, I created 5 file size categories:

    1-0-1, 000 KB(1MB)

    2 1, KB(1MB) - 2, KB(2MB) 000 000

    3 2, KB(2MB) - 10, 000 KB(10MB) 000

    4 10, 000 KB(10MB) - 50, 000 KB(50MB)

    5 200, 000 KB +.

    360 files in category 1

    300 cases in Cat. 2

    220 files Cat. 3

    30 files in Cat. 4

    5 files in Cat. 5

    * There are duplicates

Average of Adobe programs and files of launched/open all day (or work them)

    Illustrator: 2-5 or 10 files a few cat. 3, 1 in category 5 to 300 000 KB

    Absolute maximum load

Illustrator, launched with 2,300, 00 KB (300 MB) of files, maybe 5 Cat. 3 and 5 Cat. 4, 850 000 Ko charge total (850 MB)

If someone elsehas another suggestion of structure for the post categories please, seemed to me these adapted my amount of files.

The information in it would be very helpful/insightful with regard to material resources and system performance is affected. It will also be interesting to see how the Illustrator compares to Photshop (and other programs).

I'll also post this in the forum of Photoshop.
