Pole #1 PC Performance and RAM: quantity, average, maximum size of files Adobe

Do a little research here regarding the performance of the PC and the main memory/RAM.

If you all could estimate/Riddle the minimum and maximum amount of files Adobe program, as well as file sizes, by each program (Illustrator, Photoshop etc...) I drop the results into a spreadsheet and provided details to etc. (at least attempt, based on number/quantity of participants, if the top I'll provide statistics at the end).

Also indicate what is the size of the file you usually launched and how many of them. These averages are expected to produce some very interesting/useful information.

More people who best meet of course (unless this has been done or his stats there somewhere already).

Since I work mostly in Illustrator, these are the files that I took to target when looking for my storage by specifying the .ai extension. (both bad operating system couldn't do the math).

I specifically made the research by entering the generic asterisk before the file extension, for example: * .ai, then by specifying all storage locations (Windows, choose 'My Computer' etc., Mac do not know, I have one, just don't use it often so that if anyone would care to specify it).

For windows, the status bar at the bottom of the window has provided total number of files. To get out of the category, I've just enlarged screen and first counted the number of files poster by scrolling the window. Then moved/positioned column size of file, you click this header to sort etc. from the bottom up, then began to scroll the window with a simple click of mouse (not by the arrows) and counted the pages for the file/category varies so thought to them.

My results (rounded):

Illustrator

Total files: 900 +.

Min. size: 3KB

Maximum size: 300, 00KB (or 300 MB)

Based on the results of research and my some quantities of products and file sizes, I created 5 file size categories:

1-0-1, 000 KB(1MB)

2 1, KB(1MB) - 2, KB(2MB) 000 000

3 2, KB(2MB) - 10, 000 KB(10MB) 000

4 10, 000 KB(10MB) - 50, 000 KB(50MB)

5 200, 000 KB +.

360 files in category 1

300 cases in Cat. 2

220 files Cat. 3

30 files in Cat. 4

5 files in Cat. 5

* There are duplicates

Average of Adobe programs and files of launched/open all day (or work them)

Illustrator: 2-5 or 10 files a few cat. 3, 1 in category 5 to 300 000 KB

Absolute maximum load

Illustrator, launched with 2,300, 00 KB (300 MB) of files, maybe 5 Cat. 3 and 5 Cat. 4, 850 000 Ko charge total (850 MB)

If someone elsehas another suggestion of structure for the post categories please, seemed to me these adapted my amount of files.

The information in it would be very helpful/insightful with regard to material resources and system performance is affected. It will also be interesting to see how the Illustrator compares to Photshop (and other programs).

I'll also post this in the forum of Photoshop.

    BTW, if you really want to install xtools, you need to run PS with administrator privileges.

  • What do you use for deploying Windows 7 64-bit Ent regarding vCPU and RAM in your environment?

    Hi guys,.

    In my environment, we are currently running Windows 7 Ent 64-bit with 2 x vCPU and 2.5 GB of RAM.

    Everything is working fine, but recently I just got a free health check of Xangati and would like to know if there is something I could do to improve the environment.

    Essentially according to the results of the audit, I learned that I could be more indicer CPU and RAM on my desk from view.

    My host is running 16 x 2.599 GHz CPU, and according to the report once I hit the hard desk with activities (CPU maxed out at 100% for about 15 minutes), it is said that the "CPU usage" hypervisor uses only 1.9 GHz top.

    This means that a 1 x vCPU is more than enough to handle our daily tasks, so I went down there to 1 vCPU and test it hard once again by Windows Update.

    Even if the use of the "processor" said again that I didn't not max at 2.599 but use the Windows processor is maxed out.

    For me, it's like doing an update of windows on 1 vCPU is slower than when I used 2 vCPU but according to numbers, it shouldn't.

    It was the same exact situation with the RAM.

    If I look in the Windows Task Manager, Windows RAM was maxed out almost when I was doing tests, but on the side of the hypervisor, it says I'm only averaging about 1.7 GB.

    So now I'm not sure what matrix that I should go. The windows or on the side hyper-visiere? Haha.

    If I followed the hyper-visiere, I get scared when their desktop view is slow, the user could come to me and ask for additional resources, because that's what they see in the Task Manager.

    It will be hard to convince them not to worry about what the Task Manager shows.

    Note: I have no problem with the data since all desktop computers store is located in the FusionIO card.

    Anyway, just want to see it as the Deputy there to use when they have configured their Windows 7 operating system.

    Are you visiting x 2 vCPU and 2 or 3 GB of RAM? Or you would follow instead indicating you the numbers of the hypervisor?

    What would you do?

    Thank you guys!

    I feel that it is something that must be determined on a case by case.    We started with 1 vCPU which works great for 95% of our users.    We have others that require more resources while they were transferred in a different pool with additional resources.    In addition, we found that 1 vCPU works well for most everything except the video.   If you want to play a lot of video you can test with 2 vCPU and see if that works better.

    In the end, it's all about what your user comments and should dictate.   You don't want to shake your users of the resources, because that will lead to the decline in performance and the bad perception but also be careful not to approve because they will lead to poor performance and a bad perception.    Once people get a negative perception of the environment, it is difficult to cross.

    I'm quite sure that the chipset would not support Intel Core CPU m.

    In addition, the memory can be improved up to 1 GB of RAM (2 x 512 MB)
    More is not possible.

    In my opinion, if you need more performance, buy a laptop (maybe good work 2nd unit) supporting the newer parts.

  • Daily series VS Performance and entertainment?

    HP has desktop computers in the "Everyday Computing" and "Performance and Enterment" series.

    I adapted a desktop computer in both series.  For the series of performance and Entertainment Office, you get more choice of components.

    However, the components that I need are available for both series.

    In addition, desktop computers has the same motherboard.

    If desktop computers have been adapted with the same components, wouldn't they have the same performance?

    I understand what you ask because I did the same thing and had the same questions.  The answer is Yes.

    But there are other differences between the two lines, in addition to the customizable options of cpu, ram, disk hard size and chip/card graphic.  Click the tab of the sheet and you'll see different chassis sizes, sizes of power, a different number of slots, etc.

    The series 'Performance and play' has a more robust architecture and is easier to add updates in the future, as the media platforms continue to evolve.  Also gives you a little more space inside to work with.

    I hope this helps.

  • P7 - 1010t cto Pavilion: upgrade of processor and RAM memory

    I wonder if the upgrade to a faster processor and the RAM imcreassed will provide significant performance and practice

    Yes, but you must consider a few things first.

    RAM, if you currently have one slot of occupied RAM then add more RAM to fill all the slots does two things for you, it increase the bandwidth to access RAM and what is obvious, give you more memeory for your applications and reduce disk swapping.  Increase the bandwidth for RAM access ceratinly will provide a performance gain just by itself.

    Upgrade the processor is debatable and depends largely on what you use your PC for.  If you simply run email and web browsing then probably an upgrade is useless, but if you run several CPU intensive tasks then a processor upgrade help. Processor intel celeron and pentium are core, i3 range are dual core and the i5 and i7 are four hearts.  Simply the best kernels if you run intensive taks and i5 and i7 processors support the turbo boost, which means carrots redundant can kick in to increase the speed of these processors according to demand.  Hyper-threading (with several processes running in parallel) is also supported by the i7 (maybe some processors i5 as well).

    Hi, guys

    Trying to analysis the data of my profile to the profile of Performance and memory.

    When I check the data for VI times, I found there are same screws with different time of VI, whatever that means

    Why I cela it is because I will add model pulse for my VI, so I need to know the relationship between my all instruments and time, I'm on the right track

    Thank you

    It seems that the calendar had a resolution of 15.6 ms, which I think is common on some flavors of the Windows operating system.  Note that the average time on some of these screws is equal to zero.  This suggessts that time for many tracks 1878, was probably recorded as zero and some were 15.6 ms.

    It's one of the limitations of the Profiler.

  • How can I upgrade my PROCESSOR and RAM

    Hello, I use a HP Compaq Presario CQ43. There with APU AMD E-450 with Radeon HD graphics card and 2.0 GB of RAM. My question is can I upgrade my processor and RAM 4 GB because I want to play games. If Ican please tell me how? Please help me.

    Your Service Manual:

    Manual

    You already have the best processor that can fit on your motherboard which is an AMD version. Theoretically, you can go with a card mother Intel and processor, but that would cost a lot of money (more than a new laptop) and give only slightly better graphics. not yet for the games. To be explicit, the graphics 'card' are not a card, but a single chip directly soldered on the motherboard and cannot be removed, replaced, improved or anything of the sort.

    The slightly good news is that you can install up to 8 GB of memory... is the DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM. That will boost the overall performance, but still not make a game by a long shot machine.

    Here's the product specifications for the HP Pavilion p6717me desktop PC.  Based on the specifications, there are 3 things that you could upgrade to improve the performance of your game (and global).  I have them listed in the recommended order.

    1 update RAM: your unit comes with 4 GB of RAM, you should move it to 8, 12 or 16 total (16 GB MAX).

    2 GPU (video card) update: I highly recommend the upgrade of your GPU.  You can get any PCI Express x 16 card which physically fits in the slot.  The only limitation here is your power supply (PSU) offering only 300W of power.  Most of the best graphics cards require a minimum of 450-500W of power.   The power supply is a standard ATX power supply, so you should be able to upgrade easily if you want to upgrade the video card.

    3 update CPU: your device comes with an Intel i5 CPU and it could be upgraded to an i7 processor.  Models and information are listed in the connection of the plug above.

  • Should we leave how much free space on the C drive before affecting the performance and speed?

    Hello!

    Hard drive of my new PC (C) is 1 TB (processor Samsung 7i, Windows 8.1). It doesn't have any other disk/partition. How this space is safe to use to store large files (videos, esp., stored in the native video library file) without harming the performance and speed?

    And if I create another partition (D) and just use it for storage, it will make much difference compared to the above?

    Planning your Partitions

    The Question

    Partitions, how much should I have on my hard drive, what do I use
    each of them for, and what size should each one be?

    It s a common question, but unfortunately this doesn t have a
    only simple, just answer to all the world. A lot of people will respond with
    the way they do, but their response isn't necessarily best for the
    person seeking (in many cases it isn't right even for the person)
    response).

    Terminology

    First, let's rethinking the terminology. Some people ask "should I".
    partition my drive? That s the wrong question, because the
    the terminology is a little strange. Some people think that the word
    "partition" means divide the drive into two or more partitions.
    That s not correct: to partition a drive is to create one or several
    partitions on it. You must have at least one partition to use
    He who think they have an unpartitioned disk actually
    have a player with only one partition on it and it s normally
    Called C:. The choice you have is to have more than one
    partition, not that it's the partition at all.

    A bit of history

    Back before Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 (also known as Windows
    95 (b) was published in 1996, all MS-DOS and Windows hard drives have been set
    using the file system FAT16 (except for very tiny to aid
    FAT12). That 16-bit only because were used for addressing, FAT16 has a
    maximum 2 GB partition size.

    More than 2 GB of hard disks were rare at the time, but if you had
    one, you must have multiple partitions to use all the available
    space. But even if your drive was not larger than 2GB, FAT16 created
    Another serious problem for many people - the size of the cluster has been
    more great if you had a larger partition. Cluster sizes increased from 512
    bytes for a partition to no greater than32Mb all the way up to 32 KB for a
    partition of 1 GB or more.

    More the cluster size, the space more is wasted on a hard drive.
    That s as space for all the files is allocated in whole clusters
    only. If you have 32 KB clusters, a 1 byte file takes 32 KB, a file, a
    greater than 32 k byte takes 64 k and so on. On average, each file
    about half of his last group waste.

    If large partitions create a lot of waste (called "soft"). With a 2 GB
    FAT16 drive in a single cluster, if you have 10,000 files, each
    lose half a cluster of 32 KB, you lose about 160 MB for relationships. This s
    back in an important part of a player that probably cost more than $400
    1996 - around $ 32.

    So what did the people? They divided their 2 GB drive in two,
    three or more logical drives. Each of these logical drives has been
    smaller the real physical disk, had smaller clusters, and
    so less waste. If, for example, she was able to keep all the partitions
    less than 512 MB, cluster size was only 8 KB, and the loss was reduced to a
    a quarter of what it would be otherwise.

    People partitioned for other reasons also, but back in the days of
    FAT16, it was the main reason to do so.

    The present

    Three things have changed radically since 1996:

    1. the FAT32 and NTFS file systems came along, allowing a larger
    partitions with smaller clusters and so much less waste. In
    with NTFS, cluster sizes are 4 K, regardless of the size of the partition.

    2 hard drives have become much larger, often more than 1 TB (1000 GB) in
    size.

    3 hard drives have become much cheaper. For example, a 500 GB drive
    can be bought today for about $50. That s 250 times the size of this
    Player 2Gb typical 1996, about one-eighth of the price.

    What these things mean together which is the reason to be old to have
    multiple partitions to avoid the considerable wastage of disk space left.
    The amount of waste is much less than it used to be and the cost of
    that waste is much less. For all practical purposes, almost nobody does
    should no longer be concerned about slack, and it should no longer be
    has examined when planning your partition structure.

    What Partitions are used for today

    There are a variety of different ways people put in place several
    scores of these days. Some of these uses are reasonable, some are
    debatable, some are downright bad. I'll discuss a number of Commons
    partition types in the following:

    1. a partition for Windows only

    Most of the people who create such a partition are because they believe
    If they never have to reinstall Windows properly, at least they
    He won t lose their data and he won t have to reinstall their applications.
    because both are safe on other partitions.

    The first of these thoughts is a false comfort and the second
    is downright bad. See the analysis of the types of partition 2 and 4
    below to find out why.

    Also note that over the years, a lot of people who find their windows
    partition that has begun to be the right size proves to be too
    small. For example, if you have such a partition for Windows and later
    upgrade to a newer version of Windows, you may find that your Windows
    partition is too small.

    2. a partition for installed programs

    This normally goes hand in hand with the partition type 1, a partition for
    just Windows. The thought that if you reinstall Windows, your
    installed application programs are safe if they are in another
    partitions is simply not true. That s because all programs installed
    (with the exception of an occasional trivial) have pointers to the inside
    Windows, in the registry and elsewhere, as well as associated files
    buried in the Windows folder. So if Windows, pointers and
    the files go with it. Given that the programs need to be reinstalled if Windows
    the fact, this reasoning to a separate partition for programs not
    work. In fact, there is almost never a good reason to separate
    Windows of the software application into separate partitions.

    3. a partition for the pagefile.

    Some people think mistakenly that the pagefile on another
    score will improve performance. It is also false; It doesn t
    help and often I hurt, performance, because it increases the movement of the head
    to get back to the page to another file frequently used
    data on the disk. For best performance, the paging file should normally
    be on the most widely used score of less used physical player. For
    almost everyone with a single physical disk than the same drive s
    Windows is on C:.

    4. a partition for backup for other partitions.

    Some people make a separate partition to store backups of their other
    or partitions. People who rely on a "backup" are a joke
    themselves. It is only very slightly better than no backup at all.
    because it leaves you likely to be simultaneously the original losses
    and backup for many of the most common dangers: the head crashes and other
    types of drive, serious glitches to power failure, near lightning
    strikes, virus attack, even stolen computer.  In my opinion,.
    secure backup must be on a media removable and not stored in the
    computer.

    5. a partition for data files

    Above, when I discussed separate Windows on a clean partition,
    I pointed out that separate data from Windows is a false comfort if
    He of done with the idea that data will be safe if Windows ever
    must be reinstalled. I call it a false comfort that's because
    I'm afraid many people will rely on this separation, think that their
    data are safe there and so do not take measures to
    Back it up. In truth the data is not safe there. Having to reinstall
    Windows is just one of the dangers to someone a s hard disk and not
    probably even one. This kind of "backup" falls into the same
    category, as a backup to other partitions partition; It lets you
    sensitive to the simultaneous loss of the original and the backup on many of
    the most common dangers that affect the entire physical disk, not
    just the particular partition. Security comes from a solid backup
    diet, not how partition you.

    However, for some people, it may be a good idea to separate Windows and
    programs on the one hand of the data on the other, putting each of the
    two types into separate partitions. I think that most people
    partitioning scheme must be based on their backup system and backup
    plans are generally of two types: whole hard disk imaging
    or data only backup. If you back up data, backup is
    usually facilitated by the presence of a separate with data only partition;
    to save just the score easily, without having to
    collect pieces from here and elsewhere. However, for
    those who backup by creating an image of the entire disk, there is
    usually little, if any, benefit the separation of data in a partition of
    its own.

    Furthermore, in all honesty, I must point out that there are many
    very respected people who recommend a separate partition for Windows,
    Whatever your backup plan.  Their arguments haven t convinced
    me, but there are clearly two views different here.

    6. a partition to image files

    Some people like to deal with the images and videos as something separate
    other data files and create a separate partition for them. To my
    the spirit, an image is simply another type of data and there is no
    the advantage in doing so.

    7. a partition for music files.

    The comments above related to the image files also apply to music
    files. They are just another type of data and must be dealt with the
    just like the other data.

    8. a partition for a second operating system to dual-boot to.

    For those who manage several operating systems (Windows Vista, Windows
    XP, Windows 98, Linux, etc.), a separate partition for each operating
    system is essential. The problems here are beyond the scope of this
    discussion, but simply to note that I have no objection to s
    all these partitions

    Performance

    Some people have several partitions because they believe that it
    somehow improves performance. That s not correct. The effect is
    probably low on modern computers with modern hard disks, but if
    whatever it is, the opposite is true: more music mean poorer
    performance. That's because normally no partition is full and it
    so are gaps between them. It takes time for the drive s
    read/write heads to cross these gaps. Close all files
    are, faster access to them will be.

    Organization

    I think a lot of people overpartition because they use scores as a
    organizational structure. They have a keen sense of order and you want to
    to separate the apples from the oranges on their readers.

    Yes, separating the different types of files on partitions is a
    technical organization, but then is to separate different types of
    files in folders. The difference is that the walls are static and
    fixed in size, while the files are dynamic, changing size automatically
    as needed to meet your changing needs. This usually done records
    a much better way to organize, in my opinion.

    Certainly, partitions can be resized when necessary, but except with the latter
    versions of Windows, which requires a third-party software (the and the
    possibility to do so in Windows is primitive compared to the third-party
    solutions). These third party software normally costs money and not
    any point and how stable it is, affects the entire disk.
    with the risk of losing everything. Plan your partitions in
    first place and repartitioning, none will be necessary.  The need
    to repartition usually occurs as a result of overpartitioning in
    the first place.

    What often happens when people organize with partitions instead
    records are that they make a miscalculation of how much room they need on each
    This partition, and then when they run out of space on the partition
    When a file is logically, while having plenty of space
    on the other hand, they simply saving the file in the score of "poor".
    Paradoxically, therefore, results in this kind of score structure
    less organization rather than more.

    So how should I partition my drive

    If you read what came before, my findings will not come as a
    surprise:

    1. If your backup set is the image of the entire disk, have just one
    single (usually c partition :));

    2. If you backups just data, have two partitions one for Windows and
    application programs installed (usually c :)), the other for data
    (normally D :).)

    With the exception of multiple operating systems, it is rarely
    any advantage to have more than two partitions.

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 CPU and RAM requirement for HFM/FDM

    Summary of the problem

    ---------------------------------------------------

    Requirement of SQL Server 2008 R2 for HFM/FDM

    Description of the problem

    ---------------------------------------------------

    We install a new EPM 11.1.2.3 - HFM and FDM on one server that hosts the services of the Foundation and FR. Our question is on the CPU and Ram needed on the SQL Server. We have 2 users with 4 GB of data, but we have to get the good performance of SQL server.

    Please provide me with a white paper link or just tell me what it takes.

    Thanks in advance.

    4 CPUS and 16 GB of RAM should be more than enough to support your needs

  • PowerCLI Script required to identify all clusters in a data center and all hosts within each cluster and calculate it using cpu and ram, avg, min, and max.

    Hi all

    I'm new to powercli and try to create a script to list all clusters in a data center and all hosts in a cluster and calculate min, max and avg cpu usage and ram by the host and cluster. So far, I have tried the below but I can't publish the results of my script.

    $Function = @)
    ForEach ($DataCenter Get-Data Center)
    {
    ForEach ($cluster in ($DataCenter |)) Get - Cluster)) - need help to post the information here and confirm if this is correct or not.
    {
    ForEach ($hosts in ($cluster |)) Get - VMHost))
    {
    ForEach ($vms to ($hosts |)) Get - VM)) - do not know if I called you here functions properly
    {
    $allvms = @)
    $allhosts = @)
    $hosts = get-VMHost
    $vms = get - Vm

    {foreach ($vms in $hosts)
    $hoststat = "" | Select the host name, MemMax, MemAvg, MemMin, CPUMax, CPUAvg, CPUMin
    $hoststat. Host name = $vmHost.name

    $statcpu = get-Stat-entity ($vmHost) - start (get-date). AddDays(-30)-Finish (Get-Date) - MaxSamples 10000 - stat cpu.usage.average
    $statmem = get-Stat-entity ($vmHost) - start (get-date). AddDays(-30)-Finish (Get-Date) - MaxSamples 10000 - stat mem.usage.average

    $cpu = $statcpu | Measure-object-property value - average - Maximum - Minimum
    $mem = $statmem | Measure-object-property value - average - Maximum - Minimum

    $hoststat. CPUMax = $cpu. Maximum
    $hoststat. CPUAvg = $cpu. Average
    $hoststat. CPUMin = $cpu. Minimum
    $hoststat. MemMax = $mem. Maximum
    $hoststat. MemAvg = $mem. Average
    $hoststat. MemMin = $mem. Minimum
    $allhosts += $hoststat
    }
    }
    }
    }
    }

    $Function | Select the host name, MemMax, MemAvg, MemMin, CPUMax, CPUAvg, CPUMin | Export-Csv "c:\Function.csv" - noTypeInformation

    Any help on this is much appreciated.

    [Ordered] casting was introduced in v3 PowerShell.

    For PowerShell v2, you can use

    $vms = get - VM

    $stat = 'cpu.usage.average ','mem.usage.average '.

    $start = (get-Date). AddDays(-31)

    $report = get-Stat-entity $vms - start $start - Stat $stat - ErrorAction SilentlyContinue |

    Group-object - property {$_.} @entity.name} | %{

    $cpu = $_. Group | where {$_.} MetricId - eq "cpu.usage.average"} | Measure-object-property value - average - Maximum - Minimum

    $mem = $_. Group | where {$_.} MetricId - eq "mem.usage.average"} | Measure-object-property value - average - Maximum - Minimum

    New-object PSObject-property @ {}

    Datacenter = Get-Datacenter - VM $_. Group [0]. Entity | Select the name of ExpandProperty-

    Cluster Cluster Get - VM = $_. Group [0]. Entity | Select the name of ExpandProperty-

    VMHost = $_. Group [0]. Entity.Host.Name

    Name = $_. Group [0]. @entity.name

    CpuMin = $cpu. Minimum

    CpuAvg = $cpu. Average

    CpuMax = $cpu. Maximum

    MemMin = $mem. Minimum

    MemAvg = $mem. Average

    MemMax = $mem. Maximum

    }

    }

    $report | Sort-Object-property Datacenter, Cluster, VMHost name |

    Export Csv report.csv - NoTypeInformation - UseCulture

  • Maximum CPU and RAM to the Virtual Image

    Hi all

    I have the host whose hardware 2 cpu machine each with 4 core that is all of the 8 and 16 GB of Ram. On this server image Linux single runs, which has mysql in there. currently image use 4 core processor and 4 GB of RAM.

    As I'm observing some performance issue, I want to increase cpu and memory allocated to the virtual machine.

    Can someone will let me know maximum CPU and RAM I can attribute to the image without destabilizing or errors.

    I'm under VMware ESXi 5.5.0

    Hi again mithrandirr,

    you don't have to worry about the allocation of CPU. The ESXi VMkernel is very flexible in terms of handling & plan the resources of the processor. You'd be fine same allocation the CPU power you have (so 2 Sockets x 4 cores per Socket) to the server. The CPU cycles are carried out on request if you don't have to worry about making your physical host fails or otherwise degraded performance. Therefore, you can go ahead and increase the number of base to 6 in what either I described above. Just for your information, the internal processes of the ESXi (referred to as 'worlds') always run on CPU logic 0 and consume very little resources.
