  • Trojan Virus removal

I have a Dell Inspron 620 about 13 months, running McAfee anti-virus software.

I have 2 Trojan virus that cause problems, which is continually turn off the firewall.

McAfee is detecting but fails to remove them.

I'd like suggestions on the best way to deal with them. I looked on the net and it was suggested to run a full scan in safe mode, what I've done. It has not detected the virus so unable is not what.

I was wondering if setting the computer to factory setting as it was delivered to me may be the answer, but don't know if it will detect Trojans.

    I am running Windows 7.

Viruses are identified as: RDN/Generic BackDoor! SL

    eternalozzie

Back up your data, format your hard drive... do complete a new installation of windows 7... No matter what all the experts say withdrawal from scratch is the best way to be sure... the fact that McAfee can bring them out of there means it's pretty clever trojan.

Reinstalling Windows and to rewrite the MBR are sufficient. The hard drive cannot be formatted.

It can also help to run a parser antivirus offline from a removable media, like who will deactivate the rootkit type defenses.

  • Windows 7 starts only in Safe Mode after serious Trojan virus. Help, please!

Yesterday, I got a trojan, Anti-Spyware Soft virus accidentally. I'm confident enough, I removed the virus (removed from the registry, ran Malaware which found other cases of the virus attack), but now my computer will only start in safe mode.

I made sure that the box was not clicked in the menu in msconfig. I tried pressing F8 and using the Startup Repair utility, that is no problem. I can't do a system restore, that there is no restore point. This is very frustrating and I am at my wits end, what should I do?

In safe mode, click Start, run then type in msconfig and click OK.  On the check in tab boot to see if Safe Mode is enabled under Boot Options.  If so, uncheck it and try to restart.

    Hello

Hmm you ve you have a problem with the Vista boot! :|

Usually, this message appears because the BIOS can not find a source of start-up as ODD or HARD drive and then try to boot from LAN.

Perhaps the BIOS can not find HARD drive due to a hardware problem.

Hmmm. First of all, you should try to change the boot order in the BIOS. Put the HARD drive as first boot device.
Save the settings and try to restart the laptop. If it is not possible to start the Windows Vista I guess that HARD drive is dead!

Have you tried to reinstall Windows Vista using the Toshiba Recovery CD? Check this box!

If all this procedures don't help I recommend you contact the ASP in your country.
The technician must check the laptop and if necessary, it should replace the HARD drive.
Your warranty is valid so that everything should be done for free.

  • I got the Conficker virus and now I can't get Windows Update to work

I got the Conficker Virus/worm infected my system, but have now got rid of him (I think).

I noticed yesterday that Windows Update has just stopped working, it has a red symbol X and said 'windows update cannot currently check updates because the service is not running'. Then, I figured that it could be a virus and tried to download AVG anti-virus, but the virus stopped me to access a website or a program to do with protection against viruses (including all Microsoft sites). Finally, I used a separate laptop and negative to download AVG and some other anti-virus/malware programs and down them mode without failure. I then ran Windows malware removal tool. That seems to have gotten rid of the virus (which has been identified as Conficker), I can now go to any Web site, so it seems that the virus is gone or disabled.

However I can not even access Windows Update. My guess is the virus disabled some component of it, but how now operate again? Is it possible to re-enable it manually? Or y at - it something that I can download to fix?

I have a Trojan virus located in (C:\windows\svchost.exe)! How can I get rid of him?  Help, please!

    Hello

1 are you facing any problem with the operating system?
2 have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

Try the next method and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Run Microsoft Safety scanner and check if there are any threats found.

    Note
: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. During these 10 days, it will remove all the files infected by the virus and records. I suggest you create a backup of your data, and then install Microsoft Safety Scanner.
    Method 2:

Make a file system checker and check if it helps.

To run a SFC scan, follow the steps described in the following Microsoft article.

  • Need help to get the system restored after Trojan virus. does not work in safe mode

We were running without anti-virus software.  System started running very slow and wouldn't normally.  He has started in Mode safe has finally got and ran Malwarebytes detected 2 Trojan virus.  Those removed, installed Norton in safe mode, but can not get computer to open in normal mode for the comprehensive analysis of norton and difficulty.  Help!

The only way to be sure you are free of malware is to format and start over.

If you have a backup from before the problem you can restore.

If not and you have the win 7 dvd you can re - install.

If not and you have a factory restore partition, you can restore from that.

If this isn't a clean install.  You will need a win 7 dvd and number series.
