Memory of UCS permutation

I currently have 2 x blades series B200 M2 with 12 x 4GB 1066 MHz DIMM memory added to it. I just ordered a blade series B230 M2 and more memory for the B200 blades. I ordered memory 16GB sticks for the B200, which will fill the DIMM slots, and some of the 8 GB at 1333 MHz sticks for the 230's. I can add the left over 4 GB 1066 MHz sticks to the B230 without any problem?

I am also aware that adding memory to speed the blade probably would decrease the speed of the 8 GB at 1333 MHz to 1066. But I don't want the size memory.

Hello

For B230, we must install bars in pairs and they must be the same within a pair. So unless that, if these modules are not classified as a pair, it is not recommended to be installed on B230.

The following documentation provides more detailed information on the guidelines memory of population.

Memory installation guide

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/unified_computing/UCS/HW/chassis/install/B230.html#wp1003860

Data sheet B230

See the section:-notes memory, the authorized configurations, and rules and guidelines

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/prod/collateral/ps10265/ps10280/spec_sheet_c17-665957.PDF

If you have already ordered their pair, yes we have memory modules (kit memory of 8 GB / 4 GB) as suggested in the document.

Also if the B230 installed with Intel's EX family processors, they operate only at 1066 MHz, even though the memory module are able to operate at 1333 MHz.

  • 16 GB of memory in UCS

Recently, we bought some 16 GB DIMMs for a B200 M2 (not Cisco) for testing and an urgent need to increase our memory on a server ESXi cluster needs.

We receive an error 'has an invalid FRU. The cause is "identity-no.

We organize as an older version on the 6120 fabric interconnects. What is the problem?

A know what Cisco sales / support the 16 GB DIMMS?

I thought that this is the case you can use the non-Cisco on the blade memory (as in there will function), you'll simply get the error. It is not supported by Cisco then you run the risk that the TAC will make you replace before to help you. It seems that there is some 16 gigabits in the current catalog of ability for example Samsung M393b2k70cm0-yf8 (1066 Mhz quad rank) or M393b2k70cm-yf8 (double row of 1333 Mhz) and a Hynix HMT42GR7BMR4A-H9DX (grade quad 1333 Mhz).

  • What is Swap in and Swap Out

    Dear team,

Just want to know Swap in and speak in simple English.

    concerning

    Mr. VMware

When you load a file or a program, the file is stored in the memory (RAM). RAM being finished, some files may not hold onto it. These files are stored in a special section of the hard drive called the "swap file." swapping is a mechanism in which a process can be temporarily swapped out of memory to a backing store (Swap OUt) and then brought into memory for execution continues. (Swap to). In other words , when the amount of physical memory (RAM) is full. If the system (say a process) needs of more memory resources and RAM is full, inactive memory pages are moved to the swap space (part of the hard drive) & these inactive pages will be directed towards more execution.

    little more detail:

Assume that there is a situation where a process needs to have one of its virtual page into physical memory, but the physical memory is a no room for other pages be brought.

What will happen in this case?

Well, the BONE will be called to handle this situation by allowing this page to be in physical memory. But to do this, a page already resident in physical memory must be discarded. Now, if the page is deleted is from an image data file or executable and the page has not been written, then it can easily be discarded as whenever necessary, the same page can easily be reduced in physical the same executable image memory or file of data. But lets assume the page who will throw the operating system is one that has been written for, so this kind of pages is known as an incorrect page. An incorrect page must be preserved in order to be used at a later stage. When the incorrect pages are removed from physical memory while they are stored in a special file called exchanging files. This is known as the permutation.

    Swap cache:

As already said above, only the incorrect pages are reversed because we keep the pages that have been changed. Additionally, assume that if a page has been changed and was exchanged, now if the same page has been reduced in physical memory and it is now necessary to Exchange again but the page has not changed any yet so it is unnecessary to discuss this page. Dispose of just as this version of the page is already there in the swap file. This allows to save a good amount of time that otherwise would have been lost.

  • Find Permutations using perms in MathScript throws memory is full error

I use the perms Mathscript function to find the possible permutations of the numbers to a number in a table.  According to the Help function permanent , he agrees to 15 items or less.  I can feed this function up to 9 items, but when I try 10 I get the error: LabVIEW: memory is full.  I increased virtual memory by the suggestion in why I am getting "memory is full" error KB.

The error occurs when Windows Task Manager reached 628 M no matter what I change my virtual memory.  I have 2 GB of RAM in my computer.  Any suggestions?

    Thank you

What is expected. With N = 10, the final matrix will be 10! x 10, or approximately 36Million DBL elements. Each contains 8 bytes, which bears the imprint to ~ 290 MB for a single copy of the matrix of results expected.

Looking at the memory usage of the VI for N = 9, is already 100 MB, so it seems there are about 4 copies of the final table in memory. No wonder that N = 10 is impossible.

I recommend to the instruments in plain LabVIEW (son and loops) with a data type of U8, you will probably be able to go higher than 9.

Remember that 15 is unrealistic, because the dimensions of the matrix are I32, but the size of the array will be N!. This means that you don't have enough lines for example N > 12 anyway.

You have a good reason that you need such huge tables?

I vSphere 4.x environment to IBM 3650 and half B200M2 (a group consisting of the 3650 and a group consisting of the B200M2).  IBM machines are 2 socket quad core with 34 GB of memory and Cisco are 2 Socket 6 core with 48 GB of memory.  Workloads on IBM and Cisco ESXi hosts are the same.  For most of 2008 and Windows 2003 machines.  On IBM machines, I move 1 GB, 2 GB of shared memory (common shared memory - amount of memory that is shared by all virtual machines powered and vSphere services on host machine) on each ESXi host.  On Cisco machines, I get around 15 MB on each ESXi host. Considering that it is one of the great features of VMware (sharing of memory) why is there such a huge disparity between the machines?  Is it because the Cisco blades NUMA machines?  Is there a setting I'm missing?  It's a huge difference.  I don't regret getting the UCS stuff I like it but it is the big novelty of the VMware that does not work with the UCS.

    Hi all

I am new to the solution of the UCS and tried recently updated the BIOS via the host update utility and MMIC. There were a few warnings version that prevented the upgrade, but I was able to update the firmware of the NETWORK adapter.

CIMC is at version 1.0.2 and BIOS at C200.1.4.1.0.071320110702.

I'm not sure how to read the version of the BIOS however.

When the server is turned on, there are 3 long beeps and it crashes to the configuration and memory test, please wait...

In any case, I am tired of the BIOS recovery procedure using the J1E5 jumper without success.

    If anyone has experienced this?

    Thank you in advance.

    Calvin.

Host upgrade utility is not supported until version 1.2.

This may have been the cause of some of your upgrade issues.

You run a BIOS of 1.4 to what I see. You will need to update your version MMIC for version 1.2 and the. Use the HUU to 1.4

  • UCS hot add/replace memory/CPU

Hello. I know on cisco UCS C460 we can expand the amount of memory using memory riser cards. Memory riser cards are hot-swappable. This means that when I run Win2008R2 Datacenter Server c460 I can hot add and replace the memory riser card memory?

Can I hot replace memory on the motherboard slots?

What UCS server models are supported CPU hot add/replace?

    Dmitry,

Yes the risers of memory are hot-swappable, so assuming that the bare metal OS can support memory added to hot it will work.

There is no DIMM slots on the motherboard directly on the C460.  Memory riser is only motherboard for memory interfaces.

There is no such a thing to my knowledge as an addition to hot CPU on all Cisco platforms.

Looking for recommendations.  Personally, I like order on Amazon, so you can keep this in mind when you make any suggestions of 24 GB of memory.

    Thank you!

On an X 58 mobo you would use preference triple channel, which is what you get with tri-packs, but if the same memory glue are sold in packs of doubles, the more you can get these sticks is dual channel. Nothing to fear, if you buy a hexa-kit, it will be the memory triple channel.

  • How to load a pointer data memory in table

I'm trying to interface to a DLL used to manage a piece of hardware. The DLL is written in c. uses _stdcall and the Import Wizard has hooked up with success of most screws in a library; many of them work everything just as it is. I have also played with the knot of library function call and think that most of the time, I got the hang of it. I ran successfully for the odd Windows API call (e.g., MessageBox). However, I am a newcomer in Labview. My problem is related to a DLL function that requires a pointer to a block of memory, in which he then dealt with the material (in the form of table of UINTs) data. I want to display these data in Labview, through a table I guess. I think I found everything I need to do in terms of creating a table and hanging until the node of library function call with an input pointer.

I hope this would work IF the block of memory has been fully completed until the function has returned. HOWEVER, this is not how the DLL function. It creates a thread that exert to put data in the memory block after the function in the DLL. Extra features are available for face to discover if the data transfer is complete. I guess this is enough to refute the marshaling of data in Labview, unless there is some special commands for this purpose.

I thought maybe I should allocate the memory using the Windows API (LocalAlloc LPTR flagged so I get a pointer) and I wrote a little VI that allocates and releases the memory that seems to work. This way I can release memory when the transfer is complete. MY PROBLEM is, given the pointer to the block of memory, as returned by LocallAlloc, how can I get Labview to read the memory in an array of integers.

I am now a little stuck and would like to receive advice on one, how to convert the block of memory, or on a way to approach things btter.

    TIA

    SteveJM wrote:

So I have a working solution, which is basically the same idea as your suggestion, but uses the Windows API. I took the trouble to mention it, but when I looked more closely at 'MoveBlock', 'DSNewPtrt' etc, I realized that they are a static C library. This means that using them requires that you have a C development system and knowledge how to build DLLs on that. As it happens that causes me a problem, but it seemed like a hammer in this case because the routines you need are already in the kernel32.dll module. [Yes that makes specific Windows, but then you would need rebuild your dll for each operating system in any case].

This paragraph is completely inaccurate.  These functions are integrated into the runtime LabVIEW, without which your LabVIEW code will not work.  You have the guarantee that if you can run your LabVIEW code, or in the development environment or as a compiled application, these functions are available.  No need for a C development system (if that were the case, don't you think someone would have mentioned in one of the many messages on this forum on the use of MoveBlock?).

    SteveJM wrote:

It is true that you need to find a way to pass the pointer to the destination of reference. In other words, using a "handful" I guess. One of the difficulties is that the documentation for Labview is rather imprecise on what happening coming in and out of the function call. Unfortunately, the meaning of "Handle" is very dependent on context, so documentation should be much more detailed. If you select 'Manage' rather than "Pointer table" minimum size box disappears implying that Labview will take a pointer to a pointer to a format of Labview. It would then allow the size information in the allocation of the table and set the offset pointer approprately when passing a pointer to the function that would fill the memory. If the size of the table was large enough, it might be useful to tweak with this to avoid the copy useless (and allocation), but I don't have time now, unless I find the best literature which explicitly explains this gathering takes place for each option in the dialog box.

All the help you need is available.  Set up a call library function node to pass by handle, close the configuration dialog box, right-click on the function call library node and choose Create .c file...  You will get a draft of C with all structs defined for you, and you will see that the handful of LabVIEW table includes size information.  There is no "triage."  He is just passing pointers autour (and a few and Word-permutation of bytes due to problems of "endianness").  When you pass an array of pointer to array value, you get what you expect - LabVIEW dereferences the handle once and passes the pointer of table.  It's exactly like a C function call.  Nothing unusual occurs when the call is returned (with the exception, even once, "endianness" switch if necessary).  That said, it's a bad idea to do what you want to do with a handle, because LabVIEW is allowed to move the table when he likes and has no way to know that some other functions still has this memory block to stay where he is.

  • HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv9205TX - MEMORY

I bought this laptop in 2007.   It comes with 2 GB of memory.     Sometimes the machines is unbearably slow, with a constant disk activity (especially at the waking from sleep).   A stop cycle and restart may also take several minutes.   I tried all the approaches normal, including defragmentation, disabling of indexing, etc., all to nothing does not.    I think that the problem is simply not enough memory, so the machine does a lot of permutation.

Others claim that virtual memory is used for something else that the permutation and must therefore be kept to the suggested amount. Some people claim that virtual memory is essential to protect against leaks of memory, but that wouldn't be delaying the inevitable. I've built systems with 16 GB of RAM and only 800 MB of virtual memory and never had a problem because she.

In the case of a computer crash if there is little or not the cause of the accident of virtual memory cannot be written to disk so to diagnose a computer problem is made more difficult without it.
