Microsoft Update keeps wanting to install same 3 updates. KB2518864 KB2572073 KB2633880

I have followed several threads on this. I get no error messages.

I uninstalled all .NET framework that would allow the pc, following the instructions.

I ran that MS fix it to the tool. Not to sort the problem.

I ran CNettoyez on 'find and fix registry problems. He said "found and corrected all.

I restarted and run MS update that lasted 1 updated, and then the same three updates always appear!

If I never connect this pc to the internet once again be a problem? (i.e. just use the pc for music publishing).

This kind of problem cannot be only with these updates, but many many others and for years!

Come on MS why we sent error reports automatically?

Help, please.

Concerning

Richard

Tip: Launch a further manual verification of updates & see if these 3 updates are still available now.

  • Microsoft Update continues to request updated KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880, after that install and says it's successful. I tried to install 4 times.

I tried to install the update of the files KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880 four times after whenever I would say it was well built. When I went to search for files to delete files before you try to download the files again and reinstall it using the Add/Remove on my Windows XP SP3, I was unable to locate the files. The only way I found to fix this was to remove the registry entries manually using regedit and use the file search feature and delete the files I found manually so. Then I had to update windows to inform instead of automatic download. I tried the Fix Center file also although did not. I can't locate these files to download on either windows update page.  If these files exist and need to be installed then I expect that Microsoft's COMPUTING service get this fixed a problem. My computer is a home based upon a business Edition step.

I have Windows XP SP3 all set to date.  Well well until this morning, Microsoft update under updates for .NET 2.0 (KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880).  Now, there is a problem and no one is Microsoft for the software pushed themselves.  The "fixit" has not been set.  I tried to reboot several times.  Help, please

Windows Update keeps wanting to install "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2618444)", even if it appears in the list of updates to inistalled in the control panel.  The installation fails.  When I use "Fix it", it indicates that default Windows update data locations have changed, but I can't 'Fix It' to do the repair.  In what could be a related issue, Windows Data Execution Prevention (part of IE 8?) detects a malfunctioning or malicious add-on, whenever I try to access a video on ESPN3 and closes the Web page.  However, 'Fix It' can not detect any problems with the modules.  I don't know what else to try to fix any of these problems.

The event viewer displays messages that says that each is installed successfully, but they do not appear in the list of "Add or update the program" in the control panel and immediately after it tries to install the 3 again and again. (each of them seeks to update .net framework 2.0sp2 or 3.5sp1)

BTW, I'm under XP Pro SP3 with all latest updates.

It seems that MS has solved the problem, all of a sudden the yellow reminder icon disappeared at the bottom of the screen. A number of people has the same reporded at the end of this thread.

  • Automatic Update keeps wanting to install the same 5 updates every day even after what they are already installed.

The automatic update keeps eager to download and install the same 5 updates daily. These 5 updates are KB979909, KB982168 KB982524, KB983583, KB2418241. I looked at the log of update and it showes them already installed. This has happened since November. What can I do?

  • Windows Vista keeps wanting to install the same update again and again. This is the Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista for x 64-based systems update.

This update keeps coming back even if it has been installed at least 15 times. Does anyone know why it keeps doing what/how stop?

This problem may occur because of corrupted content of the Software Distribution folder.

Rename the software file Distribution try to access the Windows Update site again.

How to rename the software D folder in Vista - distribution agent version

    1. stop the Windows Update service (make sure that you are logged on as administrator)

Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools
    Double-click on Services
(Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click on stop.

    2. Click Start, type %windir%\System32 in the search box and press ENTER.

Find and rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.

    3. start the Windows Update service

Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools
    Double-click on Services
(Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Start.

This procedure will erase your history on the Windows Update Site. Not important.

Reboot - without having to restart, the new folder could not be created successfully.
