Migration of mailboxes unity 4.0 (3) Subscriber

I have a question about migration offbox mailboxes of current subscribers the unit of an Exchange 2000 Server to another server Exchange 2003 by using the same Alias Exchange. The two exchange servers are under the same ad as the unity server.

In each existing subscriber account the unit, the unit stores its Exchange Alias matching the location of the server and the Exchange mail store. I would like to know that during the migration or spend these Exchange accounts of a mail store from one Exchange Server to another e-mail from another Exchange Server store, how can update us of existing subscriber accounts Exchange server and mailstore information without deleting the existing account and import the account using the Exchange account using the new Exchange Server with new mailstore? (The Subscriber always uses the same AD user account and even Exchange Alias all right)

Thank you

Hi Raymond,

You are migrating users from one constituency to another normally, then you will need to re-run the configuration Assistant message store to point the unit to use as a partner Exchange Server 2003 server.

This URL will be of little help...

  • Exchange 2007, P2V or migrate the mailboxes?

We have our Exchange 2007 running on two servers environment. A server is to access to the client and one for the letters/hub transport boxes. Months ago we did a P2V on the client access server and there work very well since. Next week we want to virtualize our box at the letters/hub transport server. I got two options:

    1. perform a P2V with VMWare Converter making a cold conversion

2 set up a new server instance of the letters/hub Exchange 2007 under VMWare boxes and then migrate the mailboxes. It would involve a new installation of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise (64-bit) and a new installation of Exchange 2007 under VMWare and then using Microsoft tools to migrate the mailboxes.

Any thoughts on how we should go?

We run what ESX 3.5 fully patched. Our current box the letters/hub Exchange Server works on a blade in my IBM BladeCenter. We present this server with two LUNS of my Netapp FAS3020, one for the mail store and one for the log files. The disks we use currently in the Netapp are SATA. Monday we're going to bring online a new tray of fiber channel disk, and this will be where the data for our virtualized Exchange servers store will reside. In the end, it would be easier if the virtualized Exchange Server had the same IP address and the host name, otherwise I have some additional work to do with my ISP and my Barracuda Spam firewall. If we move to the second track, I don't know if this part will be delicate.

We have about 600 mailboxes and our database of mailboxes is about 90 GB in size

Migrate the mailboxes - fully phased in with little or no risk and roll back is a snap.

  • Exchange Server Migration 2000/2003, unity 4.0 (1) (4)

We are running Exchange 2000 in an advertisement in 2000 with the 4.0 unit (1).

Due to some problems with our current Exchange Server, we need to accelerate our migration to Exchange 2003.

We will be upgrading the schema AD 2003 this week, and planned to upgrade Exchange this weekend. I know this will have a direct impact on the unit even after reading the documents to upgrade, I'm not 100% sure to get a grip on that everything must be done to make this a smooth transition.

How the migration will work, we will build a new Exchange 2003 server in the same organization, and then move the mailboxes to that server. We then decomission existing exchange server and build another with his namesake and IP address as a Server 2003 and migrate all the mailboxes back, permanently.

With this double-move in mind, does anyone have any advice, suggestions or traps to help us?

    Thanks in advance.

Running Exchange 2003 ForestPrep causes a REFUSAL of ACE appear in each administrative group for the Exchange domain servers group on the 'Servers' container. Assuming that you are using the security model, the permissions wizard puts in place where the unit connects with a domain account that is not in the Exchange domain servers group, you should be fine. But I very well many customers choose to use a method of security home brew or put users in a bunch of unnecessary groups. So as have done you that ForestPrep does not grief of the unit.

Unity 4.0 (3) and later supports Exchange 2003. So I would upgrade to 4.0 (4) of the unit before moving to Exchange 2003. Once you're at 4.0 (4) you just need to upgrade to Exchange 2003 Exchange System Manager and run the latest version of the permissions wizard if you plan to run Exchange 2003 with SP1. You can download that here:

    http://www.ciscounitytools.com/App_PW_403.htm

When you bring the new tipping online server, you must re-run the Configuration Cisco Unity Message Store of add/remove programs and let the unit move the Unity_servername mailbox by choosing a new partner server. You can t just move the mailbox without the cause of the layout of the store Message what unit won t know where to find. Same thing for the what swing you on the new Exchange 2003 server.

    Thank you

  • Unity 4.0.3 subscriber greeting

    Hey people,

A Subscriber has a recorder of wishes alternative and transferred into the unit. When callers get passed to the VM, they hear personalized greeting followed by the generic unit 'you can record your message after the beep... ". "etc.

Is it possible for the appellants to ONLY hear the recorded greeting, followed only by a sound signal (and for the record to start later)?

    Thanks a bunch,

    ML

You cannot disable the system prompt on a per user/manager basis, but you can disable the system-wide. It is not supported by TAC and the guest will come after you do any kind of upgrade of the unit - you can check the details for how to do this here:

  • Email migration problem

I'm trying to migrate my mailboxes to mail in OS x 10.5 PPC G5 to mail in OSX 10.6 Intel. The migration tool did not move to the data. I tried the import tool and which failed. I moved the data manually and the boxes appear but not the content. The PPC machine is dead, but the HD is fine. What should I do to recover these data? Kirby

Well, if the hard drive is fine, you must make sure that the users-> yourname-> library-> Mail and Mail downloads are displaced in their own folder on your desktop on your new machine folder.   You can then use the Mail tool Import Mail to the application in the Mail menu or file of the mail app to import the mailboxes, and then click the folder that you created on your desktop to keep these messages.

Remember, it's only for locally stored e-mail messages.  If you use IMAP or Exchange, this information may already be on the server and you can connect with the settings on your new machine.

  • How to move an exchange server to another server on a different domain (trusted domains)

    Here is my scenario,

I have two domains in windows server 2003. I'll call them X and Y. They are configured as areas of trust.

I have an exchange 2003 server is currently installed in the domain of X. I want to reduced area X, but all emails to users in the domain X and have been created in the field X Exchange 2003 Server... I'm not an experienced Integrator Exchange, but I was administering the server for some time and I am very familiar with Microsoft Platforms.

Can I just move the server from one domain to another?

I have to install a new exchange server and then migrate the mailboxes? (how to do that?)

    I do not know how...

  • A single subscription App CC gives access to Fireworks CS6?

I only really want Fireworks CS6. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a way to buy a key for it more.

I have been informed that FW CS6 comes with a subscription to creative cloud, but I'm not really all other applications. I can't select CS6 of fireworks from the simple App option for creative cloud.

The closest option you, I can think is to get Dreamweaver as a single subscription App I always use that sometimes if I am migrating away from him. If I subscribe to Dreamweaver CC as a single application, will I have to install and use Fireworks CS6 access as it is is more updated?

If not, how can I have FW CS6 access without having to buy any creative cloud?

You can always purchase Fireworks cs6 perpeptual permits:

  • If it is Possible to change the log for Exchange 2010 running on Esxi 5 drive

    Dear Experts,

We are running exchange 2010 on Esxi 5, this Exchange 2010 has recently been installed and all the mailboxes have been transferred from exchange 2003 which was a physical server. At the time of migration in exchange 2010 we created newspapers drive 100 GB since big newspapers vmdk is generated when you migrate the mailboxes. As now migration is performed a few months back and now I observed for 2/3 weeks, the behavior of the reader of newspapers for a week only 5 GB is consumed in disk vmdk of newspapers, and that is also supplemented with a backup complete weekly to Exchange.

I intend to ask, is that I think have newspaper vmdk 30GB instead of 100 GB, so the current of 100 GB of log reader, I can't reduce, but yes, I can create vdisk another to swap, but need advice if anyone has a similar experience to change the disk vmdk of newspapers for the Exchange? With this approach, I try to save 70 GB of storage space.

I hope my question is clear.

Waiting for your answers with the thoughts.

    Thank you

Yes, you must stop the Exchange Services. But Exchange 2010 has a nice Wizard to do this, who can stop the database services, newspapers move automatically and back up the database.

It is located under the Organization-> mailbox

Leave the database, but only to change the path of the log file.

  • Virtualization of Exchange 2003

We are about to start (finally) virtualization of our systems.  One of these systems is a Standard Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003, using DAS server and serves about 600 boxes mailbox (if users concurrent max would be around 200 users).  Current physical area includes 3 disks, C, D and E.  C is for system D is application/newspapers and E is for banks to information (only 2 - public and private).

After reading the various articles and best practices I came with a plan.  Could you get it someone please let me know if it is a good idea?

In a test environment first of all (with DC operation), separated from the production network:

Plan of P2V is the current physical Exchange box using VMware Converter Standalone.   Each physical disk would be converted to a virtual disk.  It will implement a SAN to shared storage iSCSI.  Thought create LUNS separate D and E drives, just don't know if this is necessary.  All Exchange and protection antiviruss services will be stopped during the P2V.  I tried to make a cold-clone, but don't know if I can due to the fact that we won't have a VMware enterprise license.

Once that P2V is complete, power to the top of the new virtual machine.  Remove any vendor (HP Insight) specific applications and drivers.  Then, start the Exchange services and test.

If successul, process document, repeat the test and before you run on the production system.  Once final, production VM is created, physical stop and turn on VM again.

If you're ok with the unsupportability of the solution, then I say go ahead and virtualize it.  I still believe that deploying a new server and migrate the mailboxes are the cleanest way to do but to understand the limitations it.  All the more that I would recommend if you could back migration to Exchange 2010 rather than another server in 2003.  There is no direct upgrade from Exchange 2003 to 2013 path so you will need to go to Exchange 2010 in a first time in any case.  Might as well get ready now.

Migration is easier because then you're not taking all issues with the server of your virtual infrastructure.  It is also pointless to worry about uninstalling the hardware drivers, of unnecessary software, etc.

I had some success with P2V migration running on Exchange servers.  As I said earlier, you will have the best chance of success if you can organize the downtime to stop all of the Exchange during the P2V services.  That's how I managed in the past.

Do your homework and understand what works best for you.  I'm sure you can succeed with two approaches.

Good luck!  Feel free to come back and post how things went or if you need any help.

  • Dilation ESXi comments disc problem!

I have a little problem, I need to extend the drive on one of our servers hosted on an ESXi server, all would be well and truly as the extension seems easy, however society which has already managed the network don't set up the data store on a NAS, this disk drive has no slots available and all drives are full , so we decided to buy a car to fill a slot in the physical server for expansion. My question is, is it possible and are there measures to have the data store across the NAS drive and the new drive on the physical server. Please go gentle for me even if I had some exposure on ESXi and vSphere, that I did not need to go into this deep and now feeling a bit bad that I need to somehow extend an exchange server (which doesn't have a single backup since last year, until I started here!) without breaking! No pressure!

    Thanks in advance

I'm sure you know already... but really, really need to back up the Exchange database.  Now.

You will not be able to expand on a store of data between a NAS and a local physical drive.

If the local drive is big enough (larger than the existing Exchange vmdk), you can create a new messaging database and migrate the mailboxes, which will serve the double purpose of it down the old drive and giving you a new compacted database.

    Hello

I just download vCenter Converter Standalone 4.0.1 with the intention to convert a physical domain controller in a virtual machine under esx 4.0.   the final goal is to re create my production of active directory and exchange environments to test the migration of mailboxes from exchange 2003 to exchange 2007.  are there aspects I should be aware of here?  thought play it safe and get a little feedback before messing around with the field.  Thanks in advance! just to clarify, im running a host not managed esx 4.0 and have just installed vCenter Standalone 4.0.1 on my client machine.

see this VMware KB on their position on P2V of a domain controller

    > If the source is a domain controller, special considerations are required. VMware does not recommend virtualization of an active DC with converter. For more information, see Virtualizing existing domain controllers (1006996).

  • connect the two controls of VCS to Call Manager, unity and IM/P by AXL for migration

    All,

I'm migrating from physical to VM for my VCS-C/E. can I connect ' my existing physical VCS both my new virtual machines to CUCM, unity, IM/P by AXL at the same time? or should it be done at the during the downtime of the migration?

The new virtual machines are not ready yet... always set up the production.

    Thank you

You can integrate physics VCS C/E with CUCM, CUC, IMP from now. Once you are about to migrate to virtual VCS C/E, you can integrate virtualized VCS C/E with CUCM, CUC and IMP and shut down physics VCS C/E.

The connection user data Dump (CUDD) is a remote database administration tool based on Windows available on the site Web of Cisco Unity tools. CUDD allows you to export specific information about users in a file that can be imported into another application, such as Microsoft Excel or a database utility or read. • The selective migration of unity - is it possible?

    Hello everyone!

    Here's my situation...

I have an ICS7750 with a SPE310 blade unit running 4.0.1. It is associated with an Exchange 2000 Server in the domain "A". I need migrating all of my users in the field 'A' to 'B' which is running Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003. The SPE in the ICS can run the 4.0.4 unit that supports Exchange 2 k 3, but CD images are not available for download and I don't have the waiting time for them to come.

Here's what I've done so far...

I took the decision to download images of unity 4.0.5 and set them on a box outside the ICS. I contacted the team licenses to move my licenses.

Now, I know that I can't use DiRT to migrate all my settings, etc. of the SPE old to my new box because of the version of the differences... but what I was wondering is if I can somehow selectively only migrate call managers and the Interview of the managers to the new box? I can deal with the migration of users, but they will be a pain to recreate.

    Any thoughts?
