Mode registry v GPO isolation semantics

Hello

I think I understand the semantics of the isolation mode, however when I put a home page web app by default to be http://URL.com , when I install the Web application and completely locked it down without address bar, menu popup etc.  However, he picks up the URL by default GPOS and goes on this site instead of the one that I put in the registry as complete isolation.  My understanding (perhaps wrong) is that the GPO overrides, but this is the case in both complete isolation and if so is there a way to get around this?

Thank you

  • Problem with adobe auto-updater

Hi, I have 120 pc Win XP SP3, with Adobe Acrobat reader 9. And about 20 with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.

Since 2 weeks I get the alert from my internet provider. My internet bandwidth is overcharg and the head is Adobe updater.

I have to disable any search for automatic update for all users of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    How can I do this?

It's a registry key, GPO in active directory?

    Thanks for your help...

    Steve

    Hi Steve,.

I assume you mean that you use Adobe Acrobat 9.2.0 / Adobe Reader 9.2.0 or leave.

You can turn off the automatic update for Adobe Reader and Acrobat feature by setting the following registry key:

    1. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM.

    2. set the value of iCheck as 0 (the manual is. Do not download or install updates automatically).

(Extracted details of other modes: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_Updater.pdf)

Maybe you can write a script to start small for the registry setting and push on your client systems network. Or you can even use Adobe Customization Wizard to create a transform for the same thing and deploy it in all of your network and get the desired result.

    I hope this helps.

  • memory population rules

    Hi team,

I have confusion in the memory population rules in servers dell poweredge for all generation.

Please give me rules and difference between udimm, rdimms, lrdimms.

    Kind regards

    Charles

    Ghadiyadhruvik,

Memory population rules are specific to each model of server, so you would need to be more specific about which server you need to.

Now regarding the differences in the DIMMs.

RDIMMS - RDIMMs add a registry, which implements buffer address signals and the command. The controller memory integrated into the processor sees the registry instead of dealing with the memory chips directly.

UDIMM - the controller memory inside your CPU addresses each stack memory your UDIMM individually and at the same time. However, each memory chip puts a certain amount of capacity on the channel of memory and thus weakens the signals of high frequency through this channel. Thus, the channel may have a limited number of memory chips.

LRDIMMS - load-reduced DIMM replace the registry with an isolation buffer component. IMB implements buffer command, address and data signals.

Let me know which server model you are working with and I can get the specific memory rules of population for you. You can also find the memory rules of population in the manual for that specific system.

Original title: the computer crashes with workstation active service.

I'm currently under Windows 7 Home Premium.

I struggled to the login screen where you choose your user name and it says welcome, but nothing happens. Otherwise, my cursor will come back, but I can't do and ctrl-alt-del does not work either.

I did safe mode, disabled services and isolated the problem to the workstation microsoft service. I understand that this workstation is essential for some components, such as connecting to a network drive, or a network printer.

Now I have to work with workstation service disabled, and it's very inconvenient for my work. Is there a way around it?

    Hello

Were there any changes or updates made on the computer before the show?

    Method 1:

I suggest you run Microsoft Safety Scanner for any malware or spyware infection and check if it helps.

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Method 2:

I suggest to create a new user account and check if the problem persists.

    Create a user profile.

  • CS6 and VDI-in-a-box

    Hello

How can I deposite the CS6 manually using GPO CD - key? This is a general question

    Background:

We run a VDI-in-a-box environment with images and models of WIndows 7. I installed CS6 on the base image. If a user starts a session, all the data is loaded from the image with the settings of the user.

The problem is that I can install the program itself, but without the key. CS6 then runs as a demo version.

    My idea:

I can give the key any user by modifying the registry with GPO entry. But I don't know where the key is deposited.

    This is generally possible?

    Best regards

    Hello

I found some interesting data on registry keys:

    • HKLocalMachine\Software\Adobe
    • HKLocalMachine\Software\Wow6432Node\Adobe  <-- especially="">

I think that if we get the correct registry path, we could do a custom ADMX template to implement via GPO. This ADMX template should allow the Office VDI store local adobe license information in a different way (an external).

The idea is that the VDI user could connect to the VDI session without losing his license whenever its VDI desktop machine is reaprovisioned (regenerated).

    Thank you

PS1. We also asked our dealer adobe for this info and they send to this technical support forums.

PS2. In our case is not a volume license.

  • Characters and IE10

We have recently updated our IE 10 pool, as demanded by another piece of software. After update, we found that the option "run" when downloading a file is missing and 'save' and unresponsive dialogs "save under". given that our users don't do a lot of downloading and running, is it is not really a big problem. But we have some problems with that. WebEx does not work at times, there is a demand of .xbap that don't run, among other things. After a repair, we believe that our policy of personas is break this feature, but we can't understand why. Single redirection making Personas is Cookies. All the other important stuff is handled by the windows folder redirection. Temporary Internet files remain on the virtual computer.

    Any help is appreciated.

We run see 5.2 on vSphere 5.5.

This really sounds like a registry or GPO problem.

  • Concise description of the isolation modes

I find the documentation ThinApp on patterns of isolation is a bit confusing and seems a bit incomplete. I wanted to confirm my understanding of the modes of insulation and some gaps in my understanding that relate to packages, the registry and folders of files.

Scope: Am I right that all isolation modes (Full, merged and WriteCopy) can all be used in all these places, and if not, that can be used where?

Package.ini - to set the defaults, when not specified in the folder or registry key.

K_KEY.txt files *-for each registry key. Keys not specified by default? isolation, it by default for the parameter in package.ini?

#Attributes.ini files - for each folder in the sandbox - return to the settings of the parent directory by default if not specified. Package.ini parameters by default if not specified for the top-level folder?

Use: Can you please confirm my understanding of each of the modes of isolation, and they are applied equally to the registry and folders?

Full: read and write in the sandbox, do not access resources outside of the virtual bubble for this element.

WriteCopy: attempt to bed to sandbox, but fallback to the host if a machine key or folder does not exist. All entries go to the sandbox only.

Fusion: read from the sandbox if an entry is available, but the downturn on the host if a key or folder does not exist. No idea on the logic of reschedule.

    Hi JohnFx,

ThinApp virtualization can ensure spacing of host file system and registry application data virtualized using files of sandbox.

The isolation mode setting controls the degree and the behavior of the separation. Using the bad isolation mode can cause the application or changes made to the file to not be visible to other applications on the host computer.

    Merged

    • Elements of the system at this location are visible to the application. If a part of the system and virtual elements exist in the same place, the application sees the virtual element.

    • Changes to virtual items go to the sandbox.

    • Amendments to the elements of the system go into the system.

    • New items are created on the system.

    WriteCopy

    • Elements of the system at this location are visible to the application. If a part of the system and virtual elements exist in the same place, the application sees the virtual element.

    • Changes to virtual items go to the sandbox.

    • Amendments to the elements of the system go to the sandbox.

    • New items are created in the sandbox.

    Full

    • Elements of the system at this location are not visible to the application.

    • Changes to virtual items go to the sandbox.

    • Elements of the system cannot be read or modified.

    • New items are created in the sandbox.

    • To change the mode of insulation for a specific folder, edit the file #Attibutes.ini in your package to set the mode for this folder, otherwise that the package.ini parameter is used by default for all objects in the package. Edit the HKEY_XXXXXX.txt file to change the isolation mode for a branch of the registry. More details on these files are available in the VMware ThinApp user manual, version 4.0.1.

Note: ThinApp implements cache modes of isolation during execution to the location of the sandbox. If the isolation mode is changed for your project and the executable file is rebuilt, it may be necessary to remove the tray to sand so that the changes take effect.

DirectoryIsolationMode - defines the isolation mode: merger, WriteCopy or full.

ThinApp implements cache modes of insulation for the registry and the file system when running in the sandbox sand. If you modify the isolation for the project mode and regenerate the executable file, you may need to remove the tray to sand to make the change take effect.

Changing the settings in the file #Attributes.ini

The file #Attributes.ini applies the settings at the directory level while the Package.ini file applies the settings at the level of the overall application.

For example, you can set the isolation mode in the directory, or the application level to determine what files and registry keys are visible and written by the virtual application that you create. The granular setting in the file #Attributes.ini overrides the global setting of Package.ini. The Package.ini determines the isolation mode when ThinApp does not information #Attributes.ini.

If you need to compress some files only with large files, rather than a complete application, you can compress the files to the folder with the CompressionType parameter level in the file #Attributes.ini.

The file #Attributes.ini appears in most of the captured application folders. For example, the Attributes.ini file may be located in C:\Program VMware ThinApp\Captures\Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3\%AppData%\##Attributes.ini. Use Notepad or another text editor to update the file.

    Edit the file #Attributes.ini

Use Notepad or another text editor to update the file #Attributes.ini.

    To change the file #Attributes.ini

    1. in the #Attibutes.ini #, uncomment, update or delete the parameter.

    2. double-click on the file build.bat in the application folder captured to rebuild the application package.

    3. double-click on the file build.bat in the application folder captured to rebuild the application package.

  • Isolation mode (open Group) keyboard shortcut for experienced users?

One of my actions frequently used in Illustrator is to enter the isolation for a group (usually done by double clicking) mode.

However, when you are a power user, this becomes tedious if you use too many other keyboard shortcuts.

Especially if complex objects are nested together for the multiple layers.

As far as I know, there is no shortcut key to move in isolation mode, although personally, I think that "Enter" would make a lot of sense.

Could someone please tell me if there is and if not, if it is possible to create an action that actually not a 'double click' on a group.

    Thanks in advance

You can make a custom shortcut.

Edition > keyboard shortcuts > Menu commands > another object

  • Action sometimes ignores the isolation mode

I created an action to create this shadow effect:

    Untitled-3-02.png

This action is to create a compound path, and then go into isolation mode. When I created the action first everything went well. However, I have illustrator to close and reopen the action ignores the isolation mode and the action breaks a little.

But it's the really odd thing; If I go through the action one step at a time manually by clicking on each of them slowly it works again. Then I can play the action automatically without any problem.

If you want to try the action yourself here is a download link, that I will stay active for a while

    Dropbox - Long Shadows.aia

To me, this seems to be a bug. However, it's really frustrating.

Is there a work around at all, or a solution to why he does this?

I just tried your action in AI CS 5 and it worked as expected (assumed I did not properly understand your instructions).

But this does not mean that it is not a problem. Today, the actions of Illustrator can be quite unreliable. Often, certain steps are simply ignored and remove certain steps when to stop smoking and to revive the program is a known problem.

Sorry to not be more constructive. One thing, you can always try is to decrease the speed of reading back to the action. Sometimes, it helps.

  • a group with an appearance of different color of its elements (in isolation mode)

Sometimes I have this problem that when I change the color of a group (for example, from green to red) it's elements stay in the old color.

I see this when I double-click on the (now replaced by red) group. In the isolation mode items appear again in the original (green) color.
When I return to the grouped view the color changes once again (in the Red).

    Strange.

Is this a bug or a feature?

If it's a feature, I think that it is a source of confusion.

ffills can be applied at different levels (object, group, layer). You have applied the red fill to the level of the group.

  • Isolation of the Local AppData%\Temp folder mode

So I have a need to change the mode of insulation in the temp folder to: merger, however, even if I have the correct file #Attributes.ini in the Temp folder and rebuild the package, files created in this folder are always get isolated.  Anyone else experience the same thing or am I missing something?

There is a macro for this location, %Temp%.

  • Is it caused by an ESX host in Isolation mode?

We check that there is a number of machines virtual runnning on an ESX host (named ESXB) are stop and start at about 06:00 this morning in another 2 ESX 3.5 Hosts (ESXA and ESXC).   With 'leave the Power On' for insulation HA response remains, however, the two virtual machines on the host ESXB.

We wonder if the stop virtual machines and on other host ESX reboot is due to ESXB enter a Mode of insulation?  In addition, we would like to confirm that the definition of the Mode of Isolation is that the ESX host loses connection with other ESX hosts via the connection of the Service Console?

    Thank you

That's exactly what's going - your server was isolated - isolation occurs when the service console loses connection to the address of the isolation that is usually the service console gateway address.

  • Isolation mode... where he attended the CS6?

Just updated from CS3 to CS6 and I can't find the isolation mode button in the control bar.

I don't want to activate double click for it.

    Can anyone help please?

Yes, CS3 used to display the button "Isolate selected group" when a text object is present in a group. CS6 doesn't.

Easy workarounds exist - a) just double click on the group to isolate b) right click and select 'Isolate selected group' c) in the layers panel, highlight the name of the Group and in the menu drop-down Panel, select "enter in the Mode of insulation.
