• Model slightly moving content from one page to another?

  Hi people,

  I use Dreamweaver MX (Yes, I know) on OS x 10.6.8 and I have problems with the content of the navigation in the models of moving slightly to the left and right between pages almost as created.

  See example in http://www.darrylvance.com/design_print.html and note the movement during the passage of the subpages (which are in the same position) back to the print, motion, other pages, etc..

  Top level pages have been created using a template (for navigation) and the subpages of printing have been created using a new model, which is identical to the first, except that there are navigation links added below.

  Another example is http://www.darrylvance.com/art_painting.html where the same model has been used for ALL pages, but the other and on the pages have a similar scale as in the first example.

  I'm assuming that the width of the content of the pages is causing these specific shifts, which are never seen in DW but appear when in the browser.  I rebuilt and rebuilt the offenders of the same correct pages and changed the width of the content, but I still get the same problem.

  I guess that there is some kind of anomaly in the table settings, but for the life of me I can't find.

Currently, it works very well when the report has two continuous pages prints the first page and last page prints my footer which is exactly my requirement.   Neednt have you checked.
  If you have inserted a front section break , and then click the new section and remove "link to the previous.

  This will ensure that you will have the same header/foot in all but the last page.

  There is no way to DPS in native mode to add a menu at the top of each page which remains fixed while the player navigates. As you suggest, a moving image is a workaround. Another is to make HTML articles where your not the header code and the guard in a place fixed. In both cases, you will still see the header to move the content when the user slides left and right.

  Bloomberg Businessweek is not a publication of DPS, so I don't know how they do it.

  Yes, there are ways to have all the pages to be updated when you make changes to a navigation bar.  However, the way you describe the situation you currently do it all manually.

  The easiest way to update a navigation bar:

  That's where you went wrong, you save the template with a new name, and save it as an html file.  You must use: Create New > model.  This way, you create a new page of the master model and save it in the root of your site - and this is what is called a "page of the child".

  Another way to speed up a litle is to erase all the content. It will take a long time but probably a bit faster.

  • Use documentPreferences.pagesPerDocument (faster)
  • use while loop or for
  • Close doc without saving changes, and then open again. (in some cases)

  (1) on the dashboard of BC, expand the drop-down list on the upper right side that has your name.

  

  (2) select "my details".

  (3) scroll down and check the box 'enable editing of content online.

  (4) save the details.

  (5), it will ask for the password, enter it and click on continue.

  (6) controls the site again Manager menu. It must contain all the submenus.

  I have a strange problem with the code I deleted a .cfm page in DW (CS4) back once the document has been closed and reopened. All changes to the file are there, it's just that some code that prevents his return. Sometimes with just this file, no one else.

  What you need to do is create an inclusion - this is the text that will be replaced or updated on every page.  The only thing that goes in this document is the text, without html/code tags at all.   Save it as for example: news.php

  And then on the index page, you select an area - probably a div (style so that it looks like a news box) and in this area, you'd call the include file...

  for example: according to the w3schools above link:

  You would then create this include on every page of the site.

  When the client wants to update the article, it just needs to open the news.php file and change or add to the need and save the file - pages would automatically update.

  You really need to read the links already provided - its all pretty explicit :-)

  What is the preferred method to place the same header in all your pages? In this case, it's a logo with navigation buttons that were created in Fireworks.

  I mean that FW HTML (and the HTML written by all graphics applications) is not suitable for anything other than gross prototyping.  Unfortunately, I guess that something over 20% of all the posts on this forum are people who have tried to use this HTML in a production environment.

  If you want the navigation on the page elements, create your buttons in FW and export them in the DW website.  Then, build your navigation item by applying a link on each button, then a swap image behavior.  It is simple and reliable.
