Monitor external issues Elitebook 820 G1

Hello

I have problems to connect to an external monitor, Dell 2709W, for my G1 of 820 Elitebook.

I have an Intel HD 4400 graphics solution. The monitor says:

Out of range signal

Cannot display this video mode

change the input of the computer screen 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz.

I use a Display Port cable for the connection.

All the ideas I maight operate?

My OS is Win 8.1 64bits

I used the HP support assistant to update all hardware drivers.

Nicolai

Hello @nicolaimp ,

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I understand that you have a problem with your laptop. However, since it is a commercial laptop, you should post your question on the map cell of the HP Enterprise Forums for a better answer.

Have a wonderful day!

  • EliteBook 820 G2: Start from USB - does not take into account my choice and starts hard disk anyway!

    Hi all!

I just got a new EliteBook 820 G2 and I'm trying to dual boot with Ubuntu. I have it on a USB hard drive that I used to install successfully on a couple other machines (dual-boot a Lenovo T430 and also on a desktop AMD new construction). I cannot go into the options to start with Esc or F9 and the disk appears, but there just ignores it and goes straight to Windows.

I don't have the partitioned external drive, then perhaps that he is not the right one? Seems funny that he would have worked on two other systems, but perhaps a quirk of the HP BIOS? I don't have a simple USB key with sufficient capacity to hold the installer, but do you think I should try to borrow one for that?

For any help or suggestions appreciated!

    See you soon,.

    Joe.

    Hi, Joe:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to go into the BIOS and see if there is a setting to auto USB for USB3 ports.

If it is set to USB3, you cannot start normally port USB3.

USB3 can be the default setting.

The auto adjustment allows the ports work as two USB3 ports when you run windows, and the USB3 drivers are loaded or USB2 ports when not in Windows (for example, when you need to boot from a USB flash drive).

  • HP EliteBook 820 G3: HP EliteBook 820 G3 - no USB Boot

    Hello

I have a HP EliteBook 820 G3 which was working fine a few days ago and now I can't boot from a USB key.

I put the USB Boot BIOS and any type of USB, I try and no matter what USB Port I try I can not show USB boot F9 option menu.

The stick, I'm trying to start is a stick of SCCM Boot to BIOS devices (non-uefi).

I tried a fomatted UEFI, one to make sure that it was not the problem and it made no difference.

In my cube, I have a ton of HP hardware and all begin this exact stick even without problem.

But even if the stick did not form correctly it should still show USB as an option in the Menu start with the BIOS configured to boot from it.

I have reset the BIOS settings, I disabled the USB Boot box then restarted and places back.

I have flashed the BIOS to the latest version and that made no difference.

When the machine starts the operating system correctly shows the contents of the flash player.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

    False problem.

A factory more reset BIOS seems to have understood that it works.

Unless / until you are convinced that the problem is hardware related, it (after all) may not be useful to talk to HP.  Why?  Unless your contract covers software, then HP cannot help the problems possibly associated with a stand-alone operating system installed which is not the original version of OS / configuration.  It is not a question of not worrying your HP computer, it's a matter of HP do not have any control over the situation once the original configuration has been replaced.

My level of expertise concerning the BIOS is not sufficient to determine if the change caused the failure of the fingerprint reader.   That the reader stops working while the BIOS was in a State without change is suspect, but the way in which the operating system is running (from USB) is not standard, either.

You can contact HP and ask if there is a way to test the equipment - it's perhaps an investigation 'covered '.

If you use the CAT (usually little or not waiting) or place a call to a response centre is your decision.  CAT has advantages, in my opinion.  The smile.

    I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

    Hello

According to me, you are subject to the 32-bit memory limit that occurs in Windows.

The limit is 4 GB, so you would need a 64 bit OS to make full use of your 8 GB.

Mark Russinovitch, a highly respected person wrote...

    32-bit Client effective memory limits

While 4 GB is the limit for 32-bit client SKUS, the effective limit is actually lower and depends on the chipset of the system and the devices connected. The reason is that the physical address plan includes not only the RAM but memory of the camera as well, and x 86 and x 64 memory card all the unit below the limit to address 4 GB to stay compatible with 32-bit operating systems that do not know how to handle addresses above 4 GB. If a system has 4 GB of RAM and devices, such as video, audio and network cards that implement windows in their memory of the apparatus which amount to 500 MB, 500 MB of the 4 GB of RAM will reside above the limit to address 4 GB, as shown below:

The result is that, if you have a system with 3 GB or more of memory and you use a 32-bit Windows client, you may not be to the benefit of all of the RAM. On Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista RTM, you can see how many RAM Windows facing it in the Properties dialog box system, page Manager's performance of tasks and, on Windows XP and Windows Vista (including SP1), in Msinfo32 and Winver utilities. On Windows Vista SP1, some of these places changed RAM installed, rather than RAM available, such as documented in this Knowledge Base article.

Fault could be the problem?

    Hello

    1. What is the model of the LG external screen?

    2. have you made changes on the computer recently?

    3. have you installed all the updates on the computer?

    Method 1.

Connect the external monitor to a different computer and check if it works.

    Method 2.

I suggest to update the graphics drive and check if that helps.

I got this laptop, now, my mother uses it.

It can operate up to 1920 x 1200 on VGA or HDMI external display.

    Tested it myself.

Maybe, it can run even higher resolution.

VGA has supposedly limitless resolution and HDMI 1.4 can run up to 4 k resolutions.

Do not know if the laptop supports higher resolutions of 1920 x 1200.
