More memory will speed up me?

So I know that the answer is Yes... but want to be 100% sure I'm going to take a big boost before buying more. At the moment I have the following:

Mac OS Snow Leopard

After Effects 5.5

Quad Core i5 iMac 2.66 processor

8 GB memory

200 GB to 1 TB of space left

Since I started using after effects more heavy he was just slow down my computer like crazy. I empty the cache of the images on the occasion and which helps a little.

I want to improve 8 GB memory 16 GB. That will help a lot?

Yes, this will help you.  You'll want to watch the recommended processor & memory allocations that are found here.

It will help a LOT?  It's subjective.  AE has never been and probably will never be, an application that can run in real-time.  If you expect something like that, prepare to have your hopes dashed.

    Hi all

I feel a jerky with HD video playback.  While I was working originally with DV, the system was adequate, but I recently tried to work with HDV and more recently, H.264/MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding of a Nikon DSLR.  I know that the system is the limit at best for the HD, but I would like to get a serious upgrade.  Here is my system:

    Adobe Premiere

    Windows 7 Ultimate

    ASUS P6T - LGA 1366 Intel X 58 motherboard

    Intel Core i7 - 950 Bloomfield 3.06 Ghz processor

    6 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1600 (3x2GB) SDRAM

3 x Western Digital Black 640 GB Hard drives, SATA 7200 RPM to 3.0 GB/s

1 disk is for the programs and the OS, 2 drives are configured in RAID 0 for the media using the integrated Intel controller.

    Graphics EVGA Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 1 GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x 16

Series of Corsair TX 750 TX CMPSU-750 watt ATX power supply power

    Cooler Master HAF 932 case

Matrox MXO2 Mini for a HDMI output for monitor Samsung and the analog capture

    2 x monitor LCD HP 2311e

I do a very simple editing with simple effects like dissolves and fades.  I do basic credential and I start to correct the color.  I use any After Effects or any other software.

Add more memory will eliminate bad reading?  I can upgrade the memory of 24GO, (which is the maximum on the motherboard) for about $170.  I would be recognizing all of the opinions on this issue.  I wouldn't throw the money into the system if it has a good chance of solving the problems, since this money would be better spent as part of a major update.

    Thank you very much

    Joe

Manager tasks indicates... Physical memory to around 3.1 GB or about 50% more.

I believe that this is the norm for CS4 given that it is a 32-bit application with a limit of 2 GB for each process.  In other words you are probably reach the limit of memory, but it is of a different nature, either in the application itself.  Upgrade memory should not be helping.

What the use of the processor on each core? (I suspect that it is close to 100%, with close to zero on the other.)

The best thing I can think is to install a trial version of CS6 (a 64 bit taking advantage of available memory application) and see how it behaves on one of your projects of dSLR and go from there.

  • Add more memory to my iMac will accelerate it?

It runs very slowly - has only 4 GB of memory installed.

It seems relatively easy and inexpensive to install more memory, but how do you know if lack of memory causes the slowness?

When I go about this Mac, there is tons of storage space. I guess that the Intel Core 2 Duo processor is pretty run down...

    Hi Karena13,

SHORT ANSWER: Yes, it will probably accelerate.

Storage and memory (RAM live) are two different things. Let's say your computer is a library. Storage is the box with all the books on the shelves, while your RAM is the table that you are using.

If you take more than 95% percent of your storage space, it's as if you stored books on the floor between the shelves: you will get work more slowly.

If you have a smaller table, you will also lose efficiency, because you will not be able to everything you need to put on the table.

Both are important, but they are different.

You can check your use of memory (RAM) using the activity monitor (you can find it in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder). Use the monitor activity on your Mac - Apple Support

  • I wonder if more shared video memory will make my game to live better.

allright, I have a Core 2 Duo 2 ghz cpu, 3 GB of RAM DDR2, an Intel GMA 4500MHD (128 MB dedicated video memory) and 1.2 GB of video memory shared (you know, the kind that comes out of your total RAM and is SLOW). I play games (halo 2, call of duty), and I was wondering if the allowance, say 1.5 GB instead of 1.2 GB video memory shared could make a difference at all in my current games, or allow me to play more than memory video intensive games. Please answer if you know the answer to the question. If you don't know the answer, don't answer. Thank you for your time.

Intel has a good web page describing the shared video memory http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-029090.htm.  According to this page, the video card uses automatically more memory as needed until the maximum authorized.

  • Help! How to get more memory?

My computer always indicates a not enough space on OS C.  Have done disk clean up, deleted files and programs, but said still is not enough memory.  What can I do else?  Please instruct me in layman's terms, as I am not the most computer.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Space and memory are two different things.

    Space vs memory explanation

When it comes to a computer, there are so many computer terms like MHz, RAM etc that people may find confusing, gigabytes. Having a better understanding of some of these terms can help you feel more comfortable using your computer and ultimately get more out of him.

A lot of people I talk to seem to be apologetic about their lack of knowledge. It's too bad people feel this way. they shouldn't really. What I tell them is that, although they do not know as much as I do on computers, there is nothing wrong with that, and they probably know a lot of other things that I don't know much.

What you need is someone who takes the time to explain things in a way that makes sense.

A term many people confuse memory or RAM and hard disk storage space is. RAM stands for Random Access Memory (don't worry, you do not need to remind that!).

It's a temporary workspace, the computer uses to get the job done, which gets emptied when the computer is turned off.

Think of it as a work bench or table. You have a project that you are working on and do you your project on the bench and when you're done, you delete it off the coast.

The disc is the main place of your computer uses to store information. It looks like a rectangular metal box containing a hard drive (as opposed to something like a CD player where you can remove the drive).

It's a disc inside the drive that stores everything on your computer - each photo, each music file, every e-mail and every Word document. Not only that, but Windows or Mac OS X, the operating system that makes the computer run.

To continue our analogy, think of it as a set of shelves where you store tools or materials for your project when you want to work on something, you choose the things you need on the shelves, put them on the bench and working on the project.

It of like when you run a program; the computer to load the program from the hard disk in memory (the temporary workspace).

So more shelves, plus you can store - that is to say programs more can you install, the more songs or photos or videos, you can save on your computer.

Most people with a computer in the last years are tougher than they will ever use. Few people ever the charging, unless they hold a large number of large files such as audio files or images or video files in particular.

A picture is worth a thousand words, they say. If it's true, video is worth at least 1 million words and files can be that much bigger!

If someone tells you that you have need of more memory, or your computer gives you an error to be low on memory, this usually means that you don't have enough RAM. This can significantly slow down your computer.

Consider the idea of bench again: If your bench is very small, you can't hold it need make your work, so you are constantly losing time move a piece of the project to the bench to make room for the next piece... If you really work at all.

The RAM and disk space are measured with the same terms: bytes, kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), with newer drives even being measured in tera-bytes (to). As the RAM and hard drives are measured in the same way, it is perhaps one of the reasons people are confusing the two terms.

You don't need to understand exactly what these terms mean, but understand that each of them is essentially a thousand times larger than the previous. So a kilobyte is 1,000 times the size of a byte, a megabyte is 1000 times larger than a kilobyte, a gigabyte is thousand times later than that and so on.

The reason you buy a computer, one that has a lot of RAM and two or three years respect and all of a sudden someone tells you that you don't have enough memory, because every year, size average programmes and the amount of memory they need, expands.

It's as if the tools you use on your Workbench continue to grow each year in order to have afterwards get a larger bench.

If your computer seems to work more slowly recently, or if you have had bizarre mistakes, it could be that you need to upgrade your memory. This is not always the source of these problems, but RAM is cheap these days and add to what your computer can add life to your Mac or PC.

I hope that this clears up the meaning of these terms the basic computer for you and makes much more sense than before! To learn more about the RAM and memory, read related article that explains how RAM affects the speed of a computerand more.

  • Does not start, need more and more memory, then crashes. It is SOLVED by deleting DB, panacea.dat, foldertree.json CAUSE global messages: uknown

As a user of Thunderbird long term (currently version 38.2.0 on Win7 x 86 US) today, I caught myself (negatively) by the following problem: at the launch at the start of Thunderbird, the window will appear last closed (and for a short while, I see my files, etc., as left behind, during the last closure of Thunderbird), but then it turns into State "Not responding" (nothing works). When we look in the Task Manager, I see that Thunderbird seizes more and more memory, before this date - after a few seconds - crashing. I really hope that for some help fast, if possible (I desperately need a solution for e-mail job well - ideally the one I had, i.e. Thunderbird with my settings).

    What I tried:
-Uninstall Thunderbird and install it again (did not help)
-Uninstall Thunderbird and install an older version (I tried 38.1.0, 38.0.2, and 31.8.0 - nothing has worked)
-from Thunderbird in SafeMode (same problem)
-from Thunderbird in safe mode of Windows (same problem)
-from Thunderbird in offline mode (did not help)

My main question to know how to solve this problem, includes questions such as
? Should I try to delete some files of Thunderbird and try again (which ones?)?
? Can I use a command line "tricks" to get Thunderbird started?
    Etc.

    Thanks for your help!

I think I solved my problem: delete messages from global reach DB and panacea.dat foldertree.json helped - once Thunderbird started again interactively and now I can restore my data files/messages.

  • Equium A60-692: update Bios to allow more memory

    Hello.

I just received the laptop above, and it is slower than the evolution!

Just checked the specs here - http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.c...8&DISC_MODEL=1 and it says it is not expandable up to 1280 mb

Someone told me that an update of the bios might allow for more memory, is it possible on this model and how would I go about this?

    Thanks in advance

    > Someone told me that an update of the bios might allow for more memory, is it possible on this model and how would I go about this?

Someone is wrong, there is hardware limitation and the Bios Update will not allow you to expand the memory

I want to allocate more memory to my chart.

    How can I do this?

    I use Vista Home OS.

    Thank you very much.

It will be interesting to know what model of laptop you have.
Either you have a defined memory or with shared memory graphics card.
The shared memory card also uses RAM for video operations.

You can upgrade RAM to the maximum level and then your graphics card can use more RAM for clean operations.

  • my c drive shows low disk space, so I searched for the program that holds more memory on drive c. I got to know that this pagefile.sys has 3 GB in the c drive

Hi, my c drive shows low disk space, so I searched for the program that holds more memory on the c drive. I came to know that pagefile.sys has 3 GB in the c drive, kindly guide me to move the pagefile.sys to another drive.

    Hi jafrin.michel,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft community.

Before you start the troubleshooting steps, I need the information required.

What version of the windows operating system do you use?

    Method 1:

If you are using windows 7, I suggest to perform a disk cleanup and verify.

    Delete files using disk cleanup

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

    Method 2:

If you want to move the pagefile.sys to another drive, follow the steps and check out them.

Follow these steps to move the pagefile.sys to C: drive on D: drive (if you have the drive D :).

1, write click on my computer and select Properties.

2, click on the Advanced tab.

3, click settings under performance menu.

4, click on the Advanced tab and click on change.

5, select letter (C :) and "BOLD" No pagefile then click on Set. )

6, if you want to configure pagefile.sys in, select drive D: drive letter D: and "BOLD" in the custom size or the size of the system managed , then click on Set. It displays a pop-up message click OK.

7, again click apply and OK OK.

8, the system you will be asked to reboot, click on Yes.

9, after rebooting the system, you can see the pagefile.sys will be moved to D:

  • ATI radeon xpress 200 - a1350n - AmberineM-GL6E - share more memory video

Hi guys my question is easy to explain... I guess the title says it all...

    .....

I have an old PC HP a1350n that came from the factory with a card mother AmberineM-GL6E and ATI Radeon Xpress 200 as integrated video card.

    Well, my problem here.

    Like I said:

HP Pavilion Media Center a1350n desktop PC

    AmberineM-GL6E< i="" guess="" is="" from="" asus="" i'm="" not="">

    BIOS version: 3.01< i="" remember="" that="" was="" the="" original="" verios="" of="" the="" bios="" before="" i="" upgraded="" to="">

    Video integrate Chip: ATI Radeon Xpress 200< actualy="" is="" at="" 64="" of="" memory="" shared="" with="" 1gb="">

My problem is that now my PC has 2 GB of installed ram (2x1GB) and always has 64 MB shared memory...

Before I updated the bios to 3.15 the option in the Bios that allows you to change the size of the memory could be changed, but now after the upgrade is not possible and with grey letters.

    How can I fix?

    http://h10010.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&LC=en&DLC=en&docName=bph04502#N296

It is a link that explains some of what I try to explain...

Also... I have the same problem with another PC (a1450n), but this came with an nvidia chip...

... so no idea what can do? to share more memory for the video chip?

Or should I get the BIOS? (where can I faund drop to do?)

    Note:

I forgot to say, that in version 3.01, I could share to 256 MB and which was then my PC have had only 1 GB of RAM (2 x 512) which, in the case of the a1350n with radeon express 200

But in the case of a1450n, I got 126MB with 512 MB of RAM (2 x 256) even at 3.01 version 3.11 BIOS... but now I can't do that... also the option disappeared o.0? WT@$%# !!!

Unless you saved the BIOS ROM file before you upgrade maybe isn't you luck. Since you ask about it, you have not.

The original BIOS is not available on the web portal of support for such an old desktop PC.

You can, if you are willing to take the risk, go on the forums of mod BIOS to get a utility that can return this function to your option of the BIOS screen.  Forums Mod BIOS should have what you need.

I get the message "out of virtual memory"... In order to buy more memory, can I contact Dell for this (there is a Dell computer)?

"Out of virtual memory" has nothing to do with the amount of physical RAM you have installed.  These errors are caused by incompatible programs, too little free capacity available on the hard drive, correctly configured virtual memory (you set it so Windows automatically manages) or sometimes even by a severely fragmented hard disk partition.

But, if you decide you want to increase your RAM anyway, memory Crucial (www.crucial.com) website has a database to help find the right RAM for your specific brand and model computer or the motherboard.  (By the way, Crucial is the only company I have ever buy RAM.)  I've never been disappointed.)  And it will be significantly cheaper than buying at Dell.

    Generally no.

How many memory currently have installed? How did you buy?
Did you buy exactly the same type, brand, model, etc. ?

Why do you want more memory? Depending on how much you have now, and
What applications you are running, it may or may not do anything for you. More memory
is this not better for everyone. This is my standard message on this
    Object:

The amount of RAM you need to good performance is * not * a
unique situation for all. You get good performance if the amount of
RAM you have prevents you from using the file page in a meaningful way, and
It depends on what applications you are running. Most of the people a typical range running
Enterprise XP applications find that somewhere around 512 MB
works well, others need more. Almost everyone will see poor performance
with less than 256 MB. Some people, especially those who do things
as modification of large photographic images, can see an improvement in performance by
adding even more 512 MB - sometimes much more.

If you currently use the page file significantly, more memory
will reduce or eliminate the use and improve your performance.
If you do not use the pagefile significantly, it will make more memory
    nothing for you. Reach
WinXP - 2K_Pagefile.zip and monitor your use of the page file. Who should
give you a good idea of more memory can help and if so, how
    lots more.

    > I went to Disk Defragmenter, and he always says that I have 35% of free space.  The new memory will change this amount?  Or is it important?

You have 35% of your hard drive free. It's disk space, also called
storage. It is not memory, what is RAM. Adding memory will not make
any changes to the available disk space.

  • Why Windows Media Player Encoder auxiliary continue to use more memory, almost crashing my computer, and how to fix it?

Whenever I use the Windows Media Player on my computer, the Windows Media Player Encoder auxiliary uses memory more and more every second I have Windows Media Player, no matter what I use Media Player to open.
in any case, she continues to use more memory the computer almost to the point of freezing, trolling, and I do not know how to fix it.
The reason why I know this has to do with the memory usage is that when I open the Task Manager, it usually gets above the point of using 300 000 k memory usage before I can put an end to the task.
