Ladies and gentlemen,

could you be so kind and help me? I have this "simple" script To display all extensions on internal disks, but it does not work. It seems that %Disk%:\ or % disc position must be constant, not variable pitch. Or something else is wrong?

  • Cycle multiple monitors at the start of the VM?

    I have a virtual machine from Windows XP SP3 running on a 32-bit Windows 7 with 8 monitors host. Whenever I reboot, I have to click the cycle multiple monitors more than a dozen times to get my favorite layout.

    Is there a way to set a value by default so that I don't have to scroll all layouts on each reboot? If not, is there a key combination for the button so that I don't have to follow the menu bar in every sense to continue to click cycle multiple monitors? I have read several posts on the same issue, but have yet to see a solution.

    Unfortunately, no, there no shortcut to move to the N monitors without browsing all possible topologies. We had a few similar requests, and we will look at making it easier to use in a future release.

  • Short load cycles affect the battery life?

    2 weeks ago, I bought a car with Apple Carplay. Before, I was charging my iPhone 6 more at night, have it completely recharged when I wake.

    Then, since I plug it to my car to use Carplay everytime I go somewhere, the battery has multiple short consecutive charges along the day. I was wondering if this kind of accusations could affect my battery life in the wrong direction? Does my battery prematurely die compared to 'normal' load cycles every night

    No, many short sessions of loading will not harm your battery. At the risk of anthropomorphism, lithium-ion batteries "prefer" kept topped up.

  • Demon NTP using a lot of cycles CPU

    My MacBook Pro (early 2011) running OS 10.11.4 fonctionnee hot and slow recently.  I turned on Activity Monitor and ntpd (the demon of time network) is constantly to consume 12 to 15% of cycles CPU.  I found an article on the stack Exchange, who said that if you see activity like this on your NTP daemon, it could be a sign that someone used a DRDoS attack.  They suggested defining the demon NTP to refuse incoming network connections - which I do not know how to do.  (I'm on Mac OS firewall).

    I took a sample of activities ntpd.  It's a little hyperactive beast.  The ratio is about 2 ½ pages long during only a short excerpt.  I can paste the report into this thread if it helps.

    But my real question is: is it normal that ntpd to be so active?  If this sounds abnormal, how can I get the little beast under control?

    In case it will help, here is the report of the sample of activity that the activity monitor took of ntpd.  Of course, it seems that he is busy, if all this has to do is sync with a network time service.

  • How to save on multiple audio tracks?

    I'm going by Apple Logic help to try and learn how to use it.  I am currently in the recording section, learn how to record on multiple tracks at once.  Here's what helps:

    Save on multiple audio tracks at once

    1. Do one of the following:
      • Choose file > Audio recordings overlap > Cycle Mode on > create titles and silent.
      • Choose file > Project Settings > save, then choose the Cycle > create titles and Mute from the pop-up menu, overlapping Audio recordings.
      • CTRL-click on the Record button in the control bar, choose Save settings from the context menu, and then choose Cycle > create titles and Mute from the pop-up menu, overlapping Audio recordings.
    2. Set the input source instrument or microphone for each track you want to record.
    3. Click on the button Activate in the track header of each track you want to record.
    4. Move the playhead to the point in the rule where you want to begin recording.
    5. Logic Pro includes a metronome, which plays a steady beat to help you play in time while recording. You can disable this active or disabled using the metronome button in the control bar.
    6. Click the Count button in the control bar so that the metronome play a preset count-in before the start of the recording. Note: For initial configuration, choose registration > plug-in software component count, and select a measure.
    7. Click on the record button in the bar control (or press R) to start recording.
    8. Start to sing or play your instrument. A new audio region appears on each of the active record tracks.
    9. Click on the Stop button in the bar control (or press the space bar) to stop recording.

    I did, but it does not work.  I created two tracks.  I go to a track and click the button Save, then go the other way and click on save, but when I click on the button Save on the Panel at the top, it records only to the last track, I selected the folder it does not save to the other channel.  It seems that as soon as I go to another track and arm to save, it disables the recording on the previous track.  Apparently, help left something in the process.  If anyone can solve this?

  • Waveforms digital output duty cycle glitches

    I try to use a square wave converted to digital output to operate some solenoids but seeing some problems with the cycle on the digital waveforms. The output frequency will always be of the order of 1 Hz and duty cycle must be adjustable to integer values. I have attached a simplified below, demonstration that shows the digital/analogue output VI I used initially. the problem with this VI, is that if I choose a cycle that is not a multiple integer of my samples for waveform I get seeds. If I use the Boolean digital VI table this problem disappears in my simplified code, but in my real program the problem reappears.

    This image shows the waveform analog generated as well as the digital output that results.

    In the digital waveforms, you can see that the duty cycle of 50% is sometimes applied during the single loop (~.2us) instead of more than 1 sec iteration, although the curve of actual load indicated in the table at the bottom seems to suggest that LV ignores this glitch (somehow). As I said, the problem disappears if the duty cycle is an integer multiple of the sample/loop. Timing of the loop is torn apart by other e/s to 2 000 Hz/400 samples per loop and 100 Hz/20 samples per loop (large enough VI otherwise I would include it). Obviously, I could change them to get 50% as a multiple, but this does not solve the problem if user needs to adjust from there.

    Can someone point me in the right direction here? I'm sure that there is a stupid/easy solution, but I can't seem to get.

    You might try turning the inputs A and B of waveform of the VI of the digital samples append.  It seems that A should be the fate of the shift register data (the original data) and B should be added (the new waveform) data anyway, at least conceptually.

  • Vista will not recognize the projector connected for multiple display

    I'm under a system dual boot with Windows XP and Vista.  When running under XP, I doesn't hurt to connect a projector to my laptop and extend the desktop on the projector for meetings and others.

    When I am running Vista, it does not even recognize that the projector is connected.  However, once I have connected the projector, if I reboot the system, it will then display on the projector.  If I disconnect the projector, the screen does not reappear on the screen of the laptop, I have to restart, with the projector removed for office reappear on the screen of the laptop.  I'm hoping to get multiple monitors to work with Vista, as it does in my XP boot.

    For the purpose of the next presentation running in XP is not an option.

    Try these steps and check if that helps:

    Method 1: We can try to perform a power cycle of the projector.

    Remove the cable from the power of the projector and this continues for 5-10 minutes. Also do the same for the laptop, Dungeon, it off. Then put back in place and start the projector. Now, start the laptop as well. Connect now. Now, you will need to install the driver for it (if there is one). After which, you need to configure the settings of the laptop.

    Method 2: Check the following steps:

    1. connect the projector to your Windows PC. NOTE: the following steps apply if you use your PC in MIRROR mode only.

    2. on the screen of the computer, right CLICK on the desktop and select Properties.

    3. click on the SETTINGS tab. If you want that your displays in mirror (what you see on laptop, it's what the public sees) you must make sure that the box "extend my desktop to this monitor" is DISABLED. If you see a box of "mirroring", remember to check it out.

    4. drag the slider to 1024 x 768 screen. As a general rule, the external monitor may limit this parameter. If your screen is higher, it might not display on the projector, then you want to test this until you're ready to take the floor. Drag the color to highest (32 bit) if available or medium (16 bit) quality if the first is not available.

    5. now select FN and press the function key. This key is usually given by a small screen icon, the CRT/LCDtext and is usually found on F8 or F5 even. Press the appropriate operation button ONCE and wait. After a few seconds, the second screen should light up. Be patient, it may take up to 5 seconds. On the projector, it may take up to 10 seconds for the projector to detect your system and switch. Note: a second press of this function (in general) will switch to monitor EXTERNAL only. A third press stop INTERNAL onlyand the circle for each push after that. Also note that some laptops can do this sequence in a different order, so learn your system so that you can quickly to the desired mode.

    6. click on the ADVANCED button. If 'apply the new settings to display without restarting' is not selected, select it. Under screen refresh rate, select 60 Hz. click APPLY and CONFIRM the choice. Click OK to close the ADVANCED options dialog. Close the display properties dialog box. You should now see a mirroring of your monitor on the second monitor.

    7. test: A test, disconnect the second monitor. put your mobile PC to sleep. He wakes up and let it fully come (login if necessary), and then reconnect the external monitor. On some machines, he needs to quickly display the screen in the last known state (you may need to wait up to 10 seconds). If it is not correctly displayed, press the switch function, ONCE.     1. If you do NOT want mirrored poster (display of different internal and external), CHECK the box next to the line that reads "extend my Windows desktop to this monitor." This SHOULD result in the external monitor display an image which is an EXTENSION of the current desktop.

    2. in the settings dialog box, the internal monitor appears as a '1' and externally as a '2 '. Click ONCE on the '2 '.

    3. with '2' selected, drag the Screen Resolution slider to the left or to the right until the resolution reads "1024 x 768". Also affect the quality of the highest (32-bit color) if available or average (16 bit) if the first is not available.

    4. click on the ADVANCED button. If 'apply the new display settings without restarting' is not selected, select it.

    5. Select the MONITOR tab. Under screen refresh rate, select 60 Hz. click APPLY and CONFIRM the choice. Click OK to close the ADVANCED dialog box. Your system is now set for an extended desktop. When it is connected to the screen, you may need to use the function switch key to turn once more on this option, but on systems that I tested, the extended desktop comes just when the monitor is connected. Yet once, I suggested some tests with this mode of knowing how your laptop will perform when connected to an external monitor before coming to speak.

    6. notes that, in this mode, items moved to the extended desktop can be "lost" it if the external monitor is disconnected because they live on the extended desktop is no longer available.     Life cycle license: allows access to all the features of the life cycle, which includes the configuration of the devices, image management software, basic health and performance monitoring, fault management, troubleshooting and customer visibility on the network. The license of the life cycle is based on the number of managed devices. Life cycle of the licenses are available in sizes from package of 25, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 2500, 5000, 10,000 and 15 000 devices and can be combined as needed to reach a total number of device under license.

    A device is uniquely identified through the assigned IP address and system object ID (SysOid). Routers, switches, light/unified access points and network first Cisco (NAMs) analysis Modules are charged on the number of licenses. If a switch stack is managed via a single IP address, it counts as a single device. A single frame will, however, be counted as multiple devices if the chassis is configured with several IP addresses. For example, a switch with several service cards, such as a firewall and so forth, or a stackable switch with an IP address assigned to each switch who is involved in the stack is considered multiple devices within the first Cisco Infrastructure. Cisco Wireless LAN controllers (WLCs), autonomous and peripheral access points third are not counted against the number of licenses.

    Seems the FIRST window, I opened wants to stay ON TOP.  That if everything went past-before I had multiple tasks, working all I had to do was click on an icon in the toolbar of devices and it will open automatically and overlay everything I opened.  NOW, whenever I click on another task for a page; they open behind what was the FIRST OPEN ONE ON.

    First an OPEN is unwilling to give up his POSITION.  Hope you understand, I need a fix - and if you don't understand after all the above, I give up...  I tried right click in the WORLD to find an option for cascade, tile, blah, blah blah blah blah and impossible to find a 'thing'!

    According to the request, I understand that when you try to open multiple windows of the first window always wants to stay on top. I appreciate your efforts to solve this problem.

    You can switch to the previous window by pressing Alt + Tab, or cycle through all open windows and the desktop by holding the Alt key and pressing repeatedly Tab release Alt to show the selected window.

    Also you can mount in cascade windows by right clicking on the toolbar to switch between windows.

    When I click the icon "Cycle multiple monitors", I get the message "VMware Workstation does not support the multiple monitors feature in other guests."  Google found me no hits on it.  Anyone know what that means or how I could get multiple monitors to work?

    The host OS is Windows 7 Professional x 64 with service pack 1 applied.  The guest operating system is Debian Linux, version 8, also 64-bit.

    With your virtual machine turned off the power, go into the settings of your virtual machine and on the Options tab, under general, select the client OS type: Linux > Debian 7 64-bit.  Then try to turn your virtual computer and see if it works.  (8 debian is quite close to Debian 7.)

    I have four hosts esxi 5.0 related to EMC VNX5300 via CF box and IBM DS3512 box via iSCSI. There are several data stores located on each storage device containing multiple virtual machines. I use EMC VNX as faster storage box for the heart rate. We have to power cycle VNX5300 EMC to solve some problem mainly cosmetic with her. I wonder what would be the good steps side of VMware to prepare to power cycle this box?  I intend to migrate a couple of mission critical VMs to slower storage IBM, also change Heartbeat EMC to IBM data warehouse data storage. I'm also OK to close all remaining VMs on EMC... Please share your thoughts

    I have * personally * would not for an hour. However, there are a lot of improvements since ESXi 5.0 for ODA. I stumbled upon this on ESXi 5.1 for about half a day and never had any problems, when someone deleted LUN a variety and never bothered to tell us and ESX kept looking for them. I would try to get information on how the CCA has collaborated in ESX 5.0, but I think an hour would be ok. Just don't kill me if you have any questions. And the vmware knowlegebase has tons of articles on ODA.

    This prompt 'verik' (2 vCpu, 16 GB RAM, core EAP) is the only host running on the vSphere host (2 x 6 core AMD Opteron 2439SE, 128 GB of RAM).

    We tried a variety of 2.6.18 kernels EAP (including attempts with the CONFIG_HZ 100 and with a divider = 10 options). More or less consistently poor performance.

    The BIOS of the host settings are:

    While it works, the system fails (for example, a 'top' which should be updated every second can be updated every 7 seconds). The guest spends a lot of time in the 'system', do what we do not know.

(We tried to store the database on the local disk and mounting NFS host datastore; similar performance in all cases. We also checked adequate bandwidth on our links for storage and front networks.)

    We reviewed several postings on execution of the guests with more than 1 vCpu and think we understand how vSphere CPU coscheduling works. But in our scenario, without conflict of use of CPU resources, we do not know why we're having performance issues.

    First, why OS 32-bit VMS with 16 GB of RAM?

    My first and very strong suggestion is to go for the 64-bit version of CentOS, EAP is known to have poor performance. Run us multiple virtual CentOS 64-bit machines, and I can't say that we have unexplained performance issues.

    You might try to twist a little bit the 32 bit existing OS, but I don't expect a big improvement. Keep this divider = 10 in your kernel parameters, but if you like to try again with simple CPU add 'nosmp noapic nolapic' kernel parameters, those can drop the percentage of time processor rdy one quite a bit, at least I saw that happen on busy ESX host. Also assign some pages of huge memory in the Linux kernel and configure PostgreSQL to use.

    Your BIOS settings also appear to be inefficient, the General recommendation is to disable the CPU features on the ESX host preloading since when the CPU executes several processes (VMs) preload results in a high number of failures which is just waste of cycles CPU.

    Equipment training on Software Prefetch Prefetch: disabled

    Hardware Prefetcher: disabled

    But still, go for 64-bit operating system.

    That is the message in the logfile etc on one of my knots in a configuration of two cluster for content server.

    The message says that the system of the content server is on (because of the content server or other applications) is so busy doing either one.) CPU use b.) Too much disk activity (space for Exchange, readers of network files, etc.) that the lock held by a thread "heartbeat" cannot get enough time to keep its lock in a reliable way. The problem is surprisingly easy to create on some systems just by starting a bunch of copies of the great repertoire, while the content server is busy.

    A scenario typical where I see that happen is when someone starts a couple of simultaneous batchloads, contained refinery running aggressively and made a lot of check-in. It will also tend to occur more often on load balancing servers. It is usually a good idea to increase some of heartbeat timeouts in balancing environments if the network shared by the server file system is not a file system performance WITHOUT style.

    I don't know if you use this variable of the whole (ArchiverDoLocks = true), but here's some information about it:

    Set to true if you want to auto imports or transfers with more content server then shares an instance. This option enables an algorithm of locking on files to archive at the file system level. If one instance is automatic imports or transfers in a load-balanced configuration, this indicator should not be set to true.
    So I would say that, no, you don't need it if you do not archive on multiple servers

    At the end of account, if you do not no matter what archive between multiple nodes you don't need the
    ArchiverDoLocks = true - try to remove that and see what happens.
