multiple computers on a wireless printer

I have a laptop wireless officejet printer 4500. Is it a good idea to have 3 computers with the same printer? He always seems to be one that doesn't connect. Should I do something special so that they will all work through the network?

Please answer yet again - but we decided just to use a local printer wired to the errant computer. Two of the three computers working with the wireless printer, and it's just too much trouble for a vacationer in the short term in our House. Thank you very much!

  • Wireless printing has stopped working, but ONLY on my G72... not on other computers on my network mobile home.

Hello... I have a laptop of HP G72 under windows7 64 bit and a deskjet4500 of HP printer all in one with a home network of the G of Belkin Wireless. • Connect a wireless printer anywhere, wired derivation convert, does not have radio, add WPA2 security.

Update- good because when the wireless radio failed to convert a wired Ethernet printer to wireless technology, or if you want your printer to support greater security WPA2 wireless.

Updated - connect to a hotel/motel/school dormitory may not work if the network uses Enterprise authentication requesting a user name and password on your computer.

This article will try to explain how to connect your wireless devices, including printers, to a wireless network when you are away from home.  The problem when you're in a hotel, motel, room student or other areas is your computer connects fine, but your wireless printer, you have brought with you, has connection/security problems.  Other people/wireless devices can find the printer on an open network, connect you to the printer and start printing without reason just because 'they can do. "

You'll need is a small wireless travel router.  TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N Nano router or other router of trip is all you need.  The WR702N is available on eBay or Amazon for only $21.00, that's right, only $ 21.

This device does not support the authentication of company systems because it cannot meet any username and password prompts these system as your computer can.  However, it will connect to a standard WPA SSID and your computer, but if you receive a browser for other questions page redirect, it won't work.

It's a small powerful travel router which built in 5 modes of operation (more than your home router can do):

    1. AP mode
    2. Client mode
    3. Repeater mode
    4. Router mode
    5. Bridge mode

The TP-WR702N information is found here:

    http://www.TP-link.com/en/products/details/?model=TL-WR702N#over

To see the overview of applications see here first to understand:

    http://www.TP-link.com/en/products/details/?model=TL-WR702N#app

I won't go into the details on how to configure these modes in the TP Link router Nano as the manual does a great job.  One thing you must remember is that you must assign a static IP address on your wired Ethernet connection of computers to access the Web interface internal of the Nano.  The Nano is configured with an Ethernet cable at any time.  It's security that the router that has DHCP disabled so if you connect to a network, you won't crash it with an IP address conflict.  The Nano is powered by a USB cable and comes with a USB AC adapter too.

The IP address of the Nano is default 192.168.0.254.  Set your computers Ethernet Port, adapter not wireless, a static IP 192.168.0.1, 255.255.255.0 DNS address.  You have to find a way to do it yourself, but it is explained in the manual and on the web for the operating system of your computer.

This leaves your wired Ethernet connection to a static IP address and your adapter wireless DHCP.  Don't forget to put your wired to DHCP if you need to use it later for a wired connection.  Connect the Ethernet cable from your computer to the router Nano.

Set up your browser by going to 192.168.0.254 (Nano IP address) in the address bar and you'll get the username and password login screen.  The default username and password is admin/admin, you can change it if necessary.

    Set the Nano bridged mode:

Other modes will be mentioned later but for now; Bridge mode will serve as this isolates and creates your own SSID private the hotel/motel/dorm room open wireless network SSID.  In Bridge Mode you entrance and connect to the Rangoon SSID (paraphrasing) AND set up your own small network with your own SSID and password.  Your SSID will be separated and protected through WPA2-AES security that you set up.   You will be able to go online normally fine, but all of your devices will now connect to your private SSID.

    Example:

Hotel SSID: HILTON Hotel Paraphrase and password: GUEST

Nano SSID: MYNETWORK Nano Paraphrase/password: HP5514

With this information, the rest is easy.  You set your SSID private and password first, they you must find and connect to the SSID and password hotels.  Simply click on the SURVEY button and a list of all available networks will be displayed along with their MAC addresses.  Find the network SSID, you want to connect (bridge) too and click on "connect".  Information is entered automatically.  I suggest that you also edit your channel wireless on a fixed channel as the 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto '.

Save your settings and you will be told to restart the router.  Follow the instructions and always restart the router after any changes take effect.  This Nano restarts in 20 seconds approximately.

Now on your computer when you scan available networks, you will see MYNETWORK.  Connect your computer to the SSID and enter your HP5514 password and you're on!  Start surfing or something else.

Now, what about your printer?  The printer must be set to DHCP and assuming that you have a printer wireless with front panel:

    1. Go to (Assistant) wireless configuration screen.
    2. Search for available networks.
    3. Select: MYNETWORK
    4. Enter your password: HP5514
    5. To connect!

In about 15 seconds, you're connected!   Oh, guess what?  The Nano has a WAN/LAN port and in Bridge mode, it is a LAN port that is connected to your network too!  Then plug into a printer/computer Ethernet cable, if you wish.

Your printer will work as usual with no change at all.  I set up in my house to test and it connected perfectly to my HP5514 wireless printer.  All the tools, diagnostics, printer functions, alerts of ink were normal.

    You're done!

The bottom can be used anywhere to create a local private network so that you and others can use your printer.

Now, what about the changes?  If at home, you can use the Nano in Repeater mode to connect to your own network and extend the reach of all devices.  Even as the Bridge mode, but you're on your network using your SSID and the word normal, so everyone can use the printer.

Don't worry what you heard with speed of execution of a router in Repeater Mode.  Most routers House when running in wireless Repeater mode should be set to no encryption or WEP only.  Here max speed is 54 Mbps.  This Nano turns at full speed of 150 Mbps in these modes, using the highest security WPA2-AES (personal).

Remember that the size is small, so it's good to perhaps more than 50 feet.  HD video streaming was impeccable and surf watch video at the same time was perfect.

I hope this help you when business or vacation.  Some hotels charge for EACH device connection.  With the implementation above, it takes only a charge for multiple devices, such as cell phones, iPads, light fires, computers or anything else you want to connect.

EDIT - do not forget that this Nano device has an Ethernet connection that once configured, you can use to connect a wired computer or wired Ethernet printer.  It is a good radio your printer wireless doesn't have to convert a wired Ethernet wireless printer or if you want your printer to support greater security WPA2 wireless.

    Have fun!

  • Boxes wireless printer work without connection to the modem HP 6700 printer

My printer is located on the second floor of our House. It is connected to our network with the modem and the router to the first floor where my wife's computer. This connection works fine.

My problem is that my printer only works if connected to my computer with a USB cable. This limits the use of a number of functions of the printer. Print the test pages that I myself say the printer is connected to the home network, but the printer will not work without the USB cable that turns off the Wireless function.

Most of the instructions I've read show that I need to be connected to the modem downstairs to work. It is not possible that I can tell.

Is there a way to fix this? or is a wireless connection to my printer not possible with this configuration?

    Thanks for your help

    Bill,

    Welcome to the HP Forum.

You don't mention what kind of computer of mystery that you have and try to use the printer.

Assuming that the full feature software is available for the operating system of your computer, this may solve the problem - multiple computers can print once installed wireless printing software.  I hope that your computer is among the supported systems.

General instructions to install the printer software

    Reminder:

    1. In most cases, the Solution Center has been replaced by the wizard of the printer.
    2. Shortcuts to the Printer Wizard must be installed on your desktop during the last part of the installation.

    Windows operating system:

    • Open drivers HP & downloads
    • Enter your printer model information
    • Select your printer in the list of the 'results '.

    OR

    • Enter your operating system the menu drop-down
    • Click NEXT and scroll down
    • Find the driver - product Installation software category
    • Select the driver of base, e-print, or full software functionality
    • Save the package *.exe Setup on your computer

The files will probably save in the "folder"downloads. "

Don't forget to search for updates as necessary for your installation. If available, you can download print and scan doctor and / or other programs of category - utilities.

    • If you have control of "Admin", you can highlight the package and "double-click" to install it, otherwise just right-click, select run as administrator and install.

    NOTES:

    • Look at the bottom half of the main Web page for your printer for helpful videos help with the installation of the printer software!
    • Scroll through the list of videos back until you find the video that best fits your situation.
    • If you use a USB connection: download and install the driver software before connecting a USB cable.
    • Ethernet: connect the printer to the network and (optional) assign the printer IP address to the router. Once the printer is connected to the network, make sure that the printer is on, and then install the printer software.
    • Once the initial installation is complete and functional, check / install category - updated

Why am I never lose my connection to wireless printer?  I entered the network number and the password more than 15 times now.  Ready to return this * #L! printer.  Fact the wizard game until at least 10 times.  What gives?  Saying: this is a wirelss printer is comedy, because it is not.  Drivers are updated, update software.  Occurs on multiple computers.  There, can someone help me and how HP can sell these things when EVERYONE seems to have this problem.

  • USB and wireless printing on PhotoSmart 7525

We recently purchased a printer all-in-one PhotoSmart HP 7525.  I created the printer via a USB cable to a single computer (the main desktop computer).  The printer works perfectly in this way.

We also have a wireless network and other devices on the network to use the HP printer.  However, the main desktop computer doesn't have wireless connectivity, it's why I connected the printer with a USB cable.  I don't want to replace Wireless USB connectivity.  I want to add wireless capabilities, so we have two options available (USB only for the desktop, wireless for iPhones, ipads and other computers on the wireless local area network).  Furthermore, I realize that we need to install the printer drivers on any PC without wire that we want to have access to the PhotoSmart printer.

What I want to do is to leave the main computer set up exactly as it is (USB connection).  I want to put the printer on the wireless network without disturbing this set-up.  What is the best way to add this printer to our network on the main computer wireless capability wireless?

Thanks a lot for your help.

In fact for the specific printer you can do it from the Panel as well.

Follow these steps to connect the printer to the new network by using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

  • The HP DeskJet F4480 is set up for wireless printing?

    Hello

When I bought my F4480, I thought it was a wireless printer.  I currently have a desktop Mac Power PC G4 running Tiger (10.4.11) and a computer laptop windows XP Pro running. The printer is connected via USB to a Mac, and I tried to set up printing wireless on the laptop. After several hours of trying, googling and looking for the manual, I finally decided to post here.

Question 1 can we do? (if the answer is no, then "thank you" and I'll be on my way...)

Question 2 in the affirmative and who have already installed the necessary drivers on my laptop, what is the next step?

Sorry to be such a fool. Thanks in advance.

Series F4400 (including your part done F4480) has USB connectivity only.  The series F4500 has USB and wireless.

But, with the printer connected to your Mac, you can share printing works (but not scan) between the computers on your network.  To do this download and install Hello for Windows for your XP from here.  If your XP already has a version of Hello (installed by iTunes), uninstall before installing this version.

Run it and it will find the printer connected to your Mac.  Make sure that your Mac is enabled and that it is set to never sleep (System Preferences > energy saver).

  • Could not get either of my PC to see my wireless printer

    Wireless printing

I have a HP Pavilion desktop computer, a g7-2118nr Pavilion laptop and an HP Photosmart D110 printer. Teo computers and the printer are connected to my wireless router. I can't believe one of them to recognize the printer. So nothing will be printed. It works very well with the Deaktop if I cable to connect the two. Ideas please?

If you have installed the full driver package, click Start > all programs > HP > HP Photosmart D110 printer (or whatever your folder) and search for 'Connect a new printer' or 'printer and installation software' (which will have a selection of "Connect new printer" inside). Click on that and let it search for your network. If it does not, you will be asked to connect the printer temporarily by a USB cable. Do it and follow the prompts. The installation program will tell you when to disconnect the USB cable, and then it should work perfectly.

  • Wireless printer will not print

I downloaded a printer wireless with the disk successfully.  It is listed under programs, but it is not listed under fax machines and printers available, so do not print.  After installation it says that everything was finished and complete.  Any suggestions?

    Hi TerrifWright,

Please answer a few questions to refine the question.

    1. What is the brand and model of the printer?

    2. what happens when you try to print? Do you get any error messages?

3 is this problem limited to any specific application such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word etc.?

This problem normally occurs when the printer is not compatible with the operating system. We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem.

    Method 1:

Run the troubleshooter, and proceed as described in the article.

    Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall

You can uninstall the printer completely go Add / Remove Programs & then try to reinstall and see if the problem still occurs.

    a. because you used the CD supplied with your printer, you can download & install the software of the printer from the manufacturer's website.

    b. connect the wireless printer on the computer. Make sure the printer is powered before you continue.

    c. click on Start menu > settings > Control Panel > printers and faxes.

    d. click on "Add a printer" in the navigation bar on the left under"Print jobs." "Add Printer Wizard" will open.

    e. follow the wizard until you reach the page 'local or network printer"and choose"printer local... "or"a network printer. Choose the basis on the question of if the printer is connected directly on this computer or a print server or other computers on the network.

    f. type the wireless network password, if prompted. The Printer Wizard can also ask to install drivers to print before the final connection is made. If you receive this prompt, click 'Yes'.

    g. close the wizard when you get to "Finish."

  • I forgot my WIRELESS password to use my wireless printer... Please help.

I don't remember my password for Wf - Fi for the wireless printer.  What should I do?

    Hi Joel,

Contact technical support for your printer or your router or your computer (any device is the source location for the seizure of the password - probably the printer here because otherwise if you were wireless, you could get the password for your computer, as would use them the same as the one with the router and therefore would not have posted here).

Ask them to help to do a hard reset of the password (probably a button or code on the printer) that he should return to something they know as the default reset.  Keep them then on the line to help you add a new (with appropriate security algorithms if included) and update the router and computers as necessary and check that everything works again before let him you get away.

    Good luck!

  • Wireless printing problems

I continually get "off printer" message when it actually works. Lets turn printer and computer or market sometimes, but not always.

    Thank you

    Hi Petie3,

Turning, printer and computer off or will not always solve the problem if your printer is not connected to the wireless network.

Get a wireless print job in Windows 8, to:

) a printer is connected to the same network wireless computers in Windows 8. And

    (b) its IP address is recognized by Windows

Step 1: make sure that your printer is connected to the same network your computer wireless.

This information is shown on the printer display panel. If it is connected to the network, the status shows "Connected" and indicating the correct network name (SSID)

If the status indicates not connected or if the printer's IP address is 169.254.xxx.xxx, the printer is not connected to your wireless network.

Step 2: restart the print spooler

Follow this video HP to restart the print spooler for Windows 8. Once your print spooler is restarted, your Windows can detect the IP address of your printer again and you will be able to print again.

Step 3: optional - static configuration IP address for your printer

Usually, your printer's IP address is automatically assigned by DHCP. Unless your printer is to have a static IP address, Windows may not recognize that the printer is offline after a change of IP address because of the power of the cycle. If you are comfortable to assign a static for your printer IP address, this should solve the problem.

    Hope this helps.
