Multiple SSID in Linksys E2500

I just bought a Linksys E2500, and I'm trying to set up several top SSID. The "guest" mode does not work for me because I want an SSID to use WPA and the other to use WEP, but the ability to set different encryption based on frequency GHz of the connection does not work for me because I want only the WEP key to be used by my Nintendo DS (which does not support WPA); I don't want to force all devices that do not support the 5 GHz for use the WEP key it! Is it possible that I can do this, or am I out of luck?

DD - WRT forum is full of info on aid.

Usually with some care, you should be able to return to the firmware of Cisco stock.

Install third party firmware will void your warranty, unless you are able to get back to stock firmware :-)

Here's the thread E2500:

  • G60 - 228CA: unable to connect to the Linksys E2500 router with laptop G60

    Hello

I hope someone can help because I've been through the forums and I will have no chance to solve my problem.  I bought a new router (Linksys E2500) and my laptop (G60 - 228 CA) HP can detect the router but just failed to connect to the internet.

I tried to diagnose all the problems which have been proposed, but that did not help.  I restarted the router, nothing helps.  I tried to download and install a new driver to replace the old (Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g WiFi Adapter) but still had no luck.

Really not sure where go from here so looking for help solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Hello:

Verify that the driver you have installed is actually that of 2011.

If not, go to the device, right click on the atheros wireless card, Manager select uninstall and if there is a box to uninstall driver for check, check.

Reboot and try the driver I posted again.

If the date and the driver version is what is indicated on the driver file, then unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

  • Linksys E2500 connection to the router/Modem Combo?

I have a Linksys E2500 and I'm trying to connect to my service provider supplied router (Actiontec V1000H) because I wanted the best range and consistent connectivity for my 6 wireless devices.

My problem is that, to do this, I connected an ethernet cable from the yellow the E2500 internet port one of my V1000H LAN ports. This, however, did me not internet access even if the network for my E2500 was available in the network list and selected as the default network. I then had to go the the E2500 advanced and changed the IP address of the router from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.2. This gave me internet access.

However, everyone I talked to including employees and experts at dslreports said that, because of what I did I put in place a double NAT with 2 potentially conflicting of IP addresses and on the road weird questions will arise because of this. They suggested that the E2500 connect to a modem dedicated to avoid this problem. However, the dedicated modem, that I was sent was defective and did not allow for access to the internet, even through the ethernet connection. So, until I get a new modem dedicated, I have to use the combo router/modem.

What should I do? Should I implement the E2500 as just an access point wireless for my modem/router combo existing? What should I change in the advanced settings? Or is there an alternative?

  • Unique SSID from the multiple SSID

    Hello

We seek to deploy wireless at five sites great campuses, one in each State.

Does anyone have any ideas on the deployment unique verus multiple SSID SSID for each location.

Are the benefits of filing a return and security to identify red devices associated with

    a unique SSID.

The question was raised that it would be easier to configure one SSID to scan wireless

devices that have separate SSID different places.

Would appreciate any experience on this design

    Mate,

Remember, when you're dealing with WLC, you do not configure the APs.  You configure the WLC and configs will be propatated of all APs manages the WLC.

The WLC, you can use up to 18 SSID but you can configure 1 024.

Currently, I have three SSIDS and one of them is for VoWLAN.

Moreover, some hand scanners do not like the (hidden) SSID broadcasting.

  • Multiple SSID on AIR-SAP702I-E-K9 (700 Aironet Access Point)?

    Hello community

I wonder if it is possible to simultaneously run multiple SSID (actually 3) on a single Cisco AIR-SAP702I-E-K9, which is a standalone AccessPoint (AP). Each SSID should be linked to a different VIRTUAL LAN. Or do I need another model or even an AccessPoint driven by the controller to run multiple SSID on different VLANS to the same AP?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    Hi Adrien,.

Yes, you can have multiple ssid on the AP standalone. Each SSID must be mapped to a VLAN different.

  • BVI Interface inaccessible since the addition of multiple SSID

Announcement to the community for the first time.

I have a simple HomeLAN which consists of a Cisco router for series 800-> switch PoE Cisco3560-> Cisco Aironet 1131AG Access Point.

Everything works well for a while in which I had a simple port to "change the access mode" configured on the switch facing the AP and one SSID on the access point that is configured in stand-alone mode (without controller).

My provider has enabled IPv6 on my broadband connection and I started to reconfigure my installation this afternoon to allow this.

I decided to run only a bunk Dual LAN and a separate native IPv6 only test LAN for proof of concept.

With this in mind, I changed the switch port to the access point to a "mode trunk switch' using simple dot1q encapsulation. I have also consulted the post helps very https://rscciew.wordpress.com/2014/05/24/multiple-ssid-configurations-on... after finding in this community post on the topic of multiple SSID https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/10899511/how-broadcast-2-ssid...

I have now two SSID broadcasting (we will call double stack and ipv6 only for the sake of the argument). The SSID double stack uses VLAN 2 and 1 bridge, while the SSID only ipv6 uses 6 VLAN and bridge 6.

I must stress at this point that my router (where I want to layer 3 for the two LANs gateways) I have DHCP, DHCPv6 and SLAAC configured on relevant VLANs.

I seem to be the 2 VLAN trunking of properly and I can see the SSID broadcast in my house. I can connect to the SSID (authenticate and form an association as seen in 'show the dot11 association'), but I don't get an IPv4 address or IPv6 assigned to all clients (I tried Mac OS x, iOS, Android, and Windows phone). Furthermore, I can't ping the IP bvi1 of the AP - that is the element that is annoying me more that I must console to the AP to make any changes at all.

Here is an overview of my AP configuration, with relevant parts removed for safety...

OK means your AP is to have IP vlan2:

Do it like this and try again:

    !

    interface Dot11Radio0.2
    encapsulation dot1Q 2
    encapsulation dot1Q 2 native
    Group 1 bridge
    Bridge-Group 2
    !
    interface FastEthernet0.2
    encapsulation dot1Q 2
    Group 1 bridge
    encapsulation dot1Q 2 native
    Bridge-Group 2

    !

Or alternatively, you can delete the name native dot11radio0 and fa0.2. (It should also work without it), but be sure that for vlan 2 you have bridge Group 1.

  • Linksys E2500 configurations working with Huawei SmartAX MT882?

    Hello my friends,.

You have a problem with my router Linksys new E2500.

I have a Huawei SmartAX MT882 cable modem, that connects to my desktop via an ethernet cable, it works very well.

I recently bought a laptop and I thought I might have a wireless connection using the modem so...

so I bought a router E2500, which is connected with ethernet to the office and the SmartAX MT882 modem cables.

It happens that I am not in a position to set the configurations to make it work (my ISP provider does not help me because there isn't a router supported by them).

Advice on how to fix this?

Solved. I put the definitions with static IP E2500... little, I tried to understand the correct values of intellectual property.

  • Slower speeds when using the router from Linksys e2500

    Hi all

Today, I upgraded my internet with Rogers for his new 100u service that boasts 100 Mbps download. I brought the new home modem/router and ran a speed test which gave me a huge 130mbps dl and 10 Mbps to the top. Once I placed in bridge mode and logged my e2500 I can now reach 90mbps dl on speedtest.net (only). BTW, these tests are run on a computer connected to the router. He is not able to manage anything more than 100 Mbps? Maybe someone can enlighten us on that.

    Thank you!

Prioritzation QoS or media is activated by any chance? Disable, restart and test again.

Also be aware that WAN and LAN port speed are only 100 MB so may see you the limit of this model of router. Most newer generation routers and ISP modems support 1000 Mb on two ports.

    Need of advice and suggestion

    Hello Saad,

If I understand your scenario, you have 2-38 or 16 VLAN for each unit. To ensure exactly the addressing specific IP must be assigned to the user, you must create groups of AP and add AP group particular AP. Let's say for the 1st floor that you used the subnet 192.168.1.0/24 and AP-group1 so all the first floor AP will be in AP group1. In addition to browse documents cisco you will get any idea on AP groups concept.

In order to obtain roaming when users move from one unit to another unit we configure mobility in the controller. As OSPF is already running then you have reach-ability between the controller.

    Hope this information helps you.
