• Satellite M70-151 - not possible to install new HDD

  I have a problem with my Satellite M70-151. bunch of old hard drive (100 GB Hitachi) reached the Windows XP screen then just ends with a blue screen a turn off laptop, immediately. I had to restore my data with an application file-rescue of another PC. It was not possible to start from old hard drive yet.

  Then I bought a Western Digital SATA II 250 GB hard drive that put my Windows XP CD in DVD player installed and tried to start. The laptop turns off as soon as the laptop computer tried to access the HARD disk.
  Thought, it was question of SATA II disk and tried a Samsung 160 GB Sata I - same result.

  BIOS recognizes the correct drives.

  If I try to boot from old hard drive, it shows the issue I mentioned first, but as before it reaches the Windows XP Boot screen before moving on to the blue screen before turning off the laptop. So start goes further than the boot with new hard drives

  The Windows XP CD I used is not the restore CD that came with the laptop, but a normal license.

  The heat is not a problem, I cleaned the CPU fan there is enough space to breathe the cold air mobile, the temperature is ok.

  Is there any special application running on laptops satellite, like special software of Toshiba, perhaps Backup, should I be aware of?

  This behavior is very strange. I have some old Satellite M70-159 with 100 GB HARD drive. I also tested how it will work with a 250 GB HARD drive and all is well.
  On two drives, I have installed WXP using the Toshiba recovery image.

  I answer your two questions No. to install Windows XP Home edition on this model of laptop you don't need some special Toshiba application or a piece of software.
  HDD should be recognized correctly by the BIOS and the Windows XP Home edition installation procedure should work well.

  my laptop is hp envy6 1011tu. and it came with windows 7 home basic.i due to format the laptop because the very slow process. first of all I tried to do the recovery of the system with hp support assistant, but the option was not functional for some reason any. then I made a support recovery, but even in this laptop case started normally, nothing happened. Then, I made a bootable iso image of windows 7 ultimate power with usb and formatted the laptop. but when the installation was complete, it displays error, saying cannot complete the installation because of hardware bundles. reboot to reinstall windows. and then I did it again, but once again the same result.  After that I tried to install win 7 home base using the recovery disk, but it displays error because of recent hardware and software changes could not complete the operation. I even tried to install ubuntu using the bootable usb key, but its saying no OS not detected in the inserted disc.

  Please help, what to do next. the product is under warranty. I bought it last October.

  W have all of the drivers, on the site of toshiba, (also the SATA driver diskette), but it seems impossible to install XP.

  We need XP for medical application (ultrasound). Uptill now, we tried: vista House downgrade to xp--> without success.
  HARD drive total format; boot from the XP cd--> without success.

  All the partitions have been deleted. We do not know what do us wrong. Al 1 last time XP installed OK but after he was scheduled to return: he had a blue screen for a second and you can only start up in save mode... and even that does not work.

  Does anyone know what do us wrong, or someone has a solution for us?
  Maybe the only way is to build in a new clean HARD drive?

  I m not 100% sure what harm s but I assume that the bad Intel Matrix Storage Manger has been installed.

  You must use a MS XP CD with SP2! It is very important

  Friend here is my advice; I think you need to create a new XP CD using a freeware program called nLite (try Google for this program).
  Then you could include SP2 and the (driver sata) Intel Storage Manager using the nLite to the XP operating system.

  Finally, you should boot from the XP CD created new and should use it to reinstall XP on the P200 ;)

  Title bar of your error message indicates that you are installing content and no Core Application. Earlier, there was problem with the download link when the user tries to download Core Application then content is downloaded, but this issue has been resolved now.   Then I tried to start it in mode (I pressed F5 on the 2nd loading screen)
  I tried all the different options of Save mode, but it still stopeped to drivers\disk.sys... I had like crazy... I tried different options to F5: finally begin the normal version and so forth, but all collapsed at any time... and nothing happened that more...

  I had enough I put on my discovery of product and wanted to format it all... In the first screen, I press F12 and I went CD/DVD (product recovery disc), but this * progress bar appears again and the (C) Microsoft Corp Screen and it still got black * wuhuuuo-.-'*.

  Result-> nothing works at all the... I tried to get aid to some German forums, but they gave the advice that I better should try in this forum, because im actually cause down with my nervs, im on the school in the last year and I NEED my lap top for homework and everything...

  It sounds like you are not booting from the disc but on the hard drive.  To access the options of environmental recovery and the installation option (this is a clean install, made that way you will lose everything on your hard drive, including your data), you will need to boot the disk.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.  You're not actually getting Windows - it will not appear until the drive is running.

  I hope this helps.  If you would help as trying to fix the problem instead of simply to do a clean install, all you need to do is ask.

  BTW, you can use Knoppix http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html with a good ISO as Copier: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm as well as a blank CD.  Boot the disk.  This should give you enough access to the system (if you do not have any other means) to backup your important data (if you have a place to put it).

  To be honest with this problem. If your laptop works well, and the OS is stable why laptop of the manufacturer must be responsible if there is a problem with the installation of the software of third party?

  In my opinion, you should contact the printer manufacturer software and ask why you cannot install their software on many working Windows System. I use HP 120 Envy with my machine and I had no problem at all (win7 64 bit).

  For most of the time I've encountered this error, I noticed that users have one of the following scenarios that affect their installation:

  1. The latest service packs could fail (make sure you have the latest service pack of the operating system your system windows is running).
  2. An older version of Windows Installer could be running (running windows service updates from time to time will ensure some updates a critical need as the Installer are supported at the same time an update is made available).
  3. Temp to be huge folder (I highly recommend users to get used to frequently run the disk cleanup utility but it must of course do not delete all the files install some applications refer to these locations, at a later stage)
  4. The file or the program being installed might have missing files (we should ensure that the location where the application is / is being installed contain all of the installation files.) In most cases, the files copied from media such as CDs/DVDs or FTP servers may have lack of files that could cause the installation to fail. Be sure that the same structure maintained in the original media - be it a downloaded file or storage media - is respected).

  Some of these shared solutions may not work for all users. I strongly suggest to consult the supplier/manufacturer of the product before you try anything on the host having problems with facilities.
