  From what you say, you are probably unable to start Windows.

  In this case, when you start the computer, keep tapping the key "F8" on the keyboard until the Advanced menu comes up. Then choose "Safe Mode".

  You will see something like your ordinary, here to enter office "chkdsk volume: /f" (replace with your hard drive volume, in most cases, it's 'c') at the command prompt.

  Assuming you are using Windows 7, try the following.

  If you do not, use another PC to create a Windows 7 recovery CD.  Download the ISO relevant among the links below - if you are unsure, your laptop is listed as having a 64-bit installation...

  Windows 7 32 bit

  Windows 7 64 bit

  You must use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.

  Demarrer start from the rescue CD, select repair your computer and choose the command line.  When this charge, enter the following commands and press on enter after everyone – including spaces as shown.

  Bootrec.exe

  bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

  c:

  Boot CD

  BCD attrib s h - r

  Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old

  Bootrec /RebuildBcd

  Bootrec /fixmbr

  Bootrec /fixboot

  Remove the rescue CD and try to restart now.

  You are welcome

  I think you're right and that it is a security issue.  The most likely cause is a form of misconfiguration or bad updates related to your security software.

  What I would say is completely uninstall your current security software (if you are using a version, make sure that you have a record of any activation key, you need and a way to reinstall the software later).  If it is a Norton product, download and run the relevant "removal tool" from here to perform the uninstall.

  Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the laptop and check if you can connect now - choose only a 'safe site known' (IE Microsoft or HP).

  If everything works well, reinstall your security software, restart the computer and check if you can always connect.

  Hey everybody,

  So I just joined here to see if anyone can help with my problem, because frankly, I'm out of options now about two weeks asking friends and colleagues and searching the Internet for answers to similar problems. I tried twice with the information I found on this site for quite some time and it does not work for me!

  In any case, I have a HP Compaq Presario CQ56 laptop. It has been implemented correctly when I bought it, everything worked perfectly. I managed to catch a virus that prevented me from even turn on my computer (which is strange, because I'm not a fool with computers, and I know what not to do/download sites to visit), so I had to restart my computer to stock, I used my Windows 7 disc, partitions formatted and installed windows again.

  Now, for some reason it doesn't connects wireless Internet. It connects when I have an ethernet cable connected, but it is not all networks, as shown in this screenshot:

  So you see my problem it is very frustrating. I don't know what is the cause, but I guess it must be a driver problem? Which is why I write here, if this is indeed in the wrong section, please accept my apologies.

  If someone could shed some light on the problem for me, or even to resolve, I'd be very grateful it is extremely annoying. As I said, it works fine when I have my laptop connected to the internet, when I'm in College, but when I come on a weekend, I can't put my laptop, because I only WiFi at home.

  The problem is that the needs of the wireless (network controller) one adapter driver installed and here is the link for the driver you need.
