My computerwas hit by 3 virus trojan dropper, windows security deleted them, but now I can't start or have access to the shared program windows internet

After removing the virus, I'm more able to send the outgoing signal. The computer says that it cannot open the windows firewall internet connection sharing service. The message is related service is not running. I went into msconfig file and everything seems to work here. Short of wiping the hard drive and reinstall everything, I ' at a loss as what to do then. Thank you

If you mean that you see a message like this:

Cannot start service Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on the local computer.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group could start.

This means that some Services depends on firewall Windows do not run (and they need to do).

The Windows Firewall Service has two dependency Services that should run until it begins:

Network connections
Windows Management Instrumentation

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

services.msc

Click OK to open the Services applet.

Locate and try to start the network connections and the Windows Management Instrumentation service.  If they do not, check their dependencies too to ensure Services that they depend on run.

Right click on each Service and ensure that properties startup type is set to automatic and save all changes.

Restart and get back in Services and see how things look now.

Since you have had, or still may have a malware infection, I would follow with doing this:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:
Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
Restart your computer and solve the outstanding issues.

  • Firefox installer detected as Trojan Dropper.Generic8.BMWS by AVG when moving folder

I was cleaning up my office moving my unused files to organized folders, for example, OriginalGameName, slipped into the games. and I happened to have an antivirus AVG scan running in the background at the same time. I created a folder named installers and dragged in Firefox_Setup.exe first. AVG has immediately launched a warning window saying that it was a Trojan horse and give me an option to remove.

Of course, why would the installer of my favourite internet browser include a Trojan Horse? I mean, my Firefox browser works fine and I also just so happen to be posting this on Firefox.

I was instantly suspicious and open SpyBot Search & Destroy and scanned. No result, then the AVG window seemed safe. I clicked on the option in the AVG window to remove the alleged Trojan, then scanned with SpyBot again to ensure that it was not the type of fake AVG caveat of the window that installs a Trojan horse once an option is selected.

So yes, I'm sure that I haven't gotten a fake AVG warning. And yes, I downloaded the installer from the site.

I am also quite paranoid about the virus and I have two different antivirus that I scan with each time I visit an unknown Web site or download anything and I am generally suspicious when you browse the internet.
I know that I gave a large amount of information, but I'm trying to avoid having 1 million on the information that I've left questions. I know there is a similar to this post, but I think that the other post includes enough information leading to unsatisfactory answers. Info dump on.

Yes, you must immediately update your Firefox to 23. This is crucial.

It sounds like you have a virus struck on a former installer you had sitting around? If you have downloaded this installer to a server of mozilla.org , so this is a false positive. They occur from time to time, various anti-virus will occasionally report a Firefox file as a virus when it is not really. Normally it clears up quickly. You can delete this former Installer, update of Firefox and be good to go.

  • Active, vs running Virus/Trojan, Virus found in a file - is there a difference?

    Hello
I have a question to detect an ACTIVE virus/malware/trojan, vs detect a file containing a virus/malware/trojan and if there is a difference.

    For example:

I ran an a malwarebytes antimalware and a scan avira scan and found nothing on my XP machine.  I then ran the windows security scanner and found a Trojan horse relatively bad guy who he only partially removed.  then I looked at the newspaper and he told me that the file - it happened to be a .exe that was marked in a .pdf file - neither of which I had never opened on the computer.  This infected file is on a second hard drive on the machine, to basically what amounts to a backup copy of the files of a computer very elders who has long been retired from service.

    (1) thus, even if there were files on my machine which contained this nasty Trojan horse, but simply because the Trojan horse was detected in the file, that necessarily means that the Trojan horse has been really active and running and cause trouble?  That's why avira and malwarebytes Miss?

    (2) this sense, for example, when you go to the encyclopedia ms for info on the Trojan horse in question, the instructions talk about how this will affect C:\windows\system32... [some file here], but my scan pick up the Trojan horse in a file that is located on a second hard drive on my machine, that I brought to an old drive.  What I'm trying to say is that the safety of ms scanner did not find the trojan in the files and the registry locations where it 'should be active"according to microsoft, but rather he fundamentally in a .exe on one of my drives of data that just a dumpster of storage.

    (3) Finally, if a .zip file is found to contain malware/trojan, etc, it is a threat having this .zip archive on the compjuter - as long as she remains closed?  For example is it possible for a Trojan horse found during analysis, within a .zip, a problem file cause as long as .zip has not been opened?

Thank you very much for any help to clarify these issues for me!

    R

Essentially, what you say is true. If you have an email that contains a virus if you click on the attachment to open it, you have the virus on a file on your computer. However, you have not activated the virus because you do not click the active file.

So if I did a scan, some anti-virus can detect the file simply because it's there, but my computer is not infected, as I click on the link to the file. This is also why you will see a warning that does not open an email with a certain title like by clicking on the link will start the download.

    I hope this helps.

There should be three partitions listed in the upper pane. One must be listed as unknown, and about 2 MB (maybe up to 10 MB) in size. Right-click on it and select Delete Partition.
