My DVDRW DRIVE listed as CDROM!

Hello

I have a HP DV2914tx, I used it for a year, nor and all burning software (Nero, Infra) work very well for CD/DVD burning

Today, I wanted to reinstall vista and the thought of creating a DVD backup game, so when I clicked on the icon "Create disc to recover", and then click Next on the screen poped upward 'this computer doesn't not have a player capable of creating CDs or DVDs. contact HP support' I was shocked! went to 'My Computer' and select the properties of the DVDRW and it was listed as "Type: CD player.

Properties of the device say;

"Manufactuer: (Standard CD-ROM drives).

Now what should I do? I tried to find drivers on the HP website, but there is no drivers for my DVDRW DRIVE... can someone help me to send me a link to download the drivers for my DVDRW DRIVE?

PS: I tried the inferior/superior fix for Microsoft

Erico thanks for the reply,

Yes, I tried uninstalling the drive and put it back, once again,

My OS is Win Vista Home Premium, and the laptop is DV2914tx

I finally find a way so...

I reinstalled windows by pressing F11 and when I tried to make the dvd backup there has always been the same guest for error... then I got an idea... I put a blank DVD RW in the DVDRW drvie and even reinstalled windows (press F11)... it worked! and I made my backup DVD

I think that this victory forced of vista to record the disc DVD - RW rather than CDROM, which it does by default... BRAVO!

    Hello

I've recently changed this laptop Windows XP MCE. I got all the drivers out of the Toshiba download except the network card page. Both versions, it lists only containing an 'uninstaller '.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can get a driver to make this work?

Download the driver and extract the contents into a new folder created. Please enter the LAN card properties in Device Manager and choose the option to install the driver. Asked about the driver choose navigate to this new created folder and see what happens.

  • Where are drivers of devices installed for the drives listed?

If I install a graphics card, sound card, card network or other maps add-on, I need usually to also install a device driver. These device drivers are listed in the Panel-> uninstall a program. But when I use an external USB docking station to look at the contents of a SSD or HARD disk, the first time that the drive is mounted Windows automatically installs a driver for the reader. Where are the device drivers listed? There be a master list of installed device drivers. And are device drivers is read from the drive, Windows include a bucket of typical device drivers, or Windows will quickly find them via the Internet?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

All installed device drivers are stored in the system32/drivers folder and here are the generic driver. Windows Installer drivers automatically when you connect a new device, some devices require that you install drivers manually. In these cases, the manufacturer of the device contains a disk of software and instructions on installing the driver before plugging. You can also visit the link for more information below:

If it worked about two weeks ago, you could try a restore point to return the parameters of your system they had previously, by using the system restore. It is in the startmenu, all programs, system, SYSTEM RESTORE tools. Choose a point of older and not the most recent. Alternatively, right - click the icon for your drive and make sure that the recording tab is there, and that registration is enabled on the computer. This is / was your system recovery disk!  You shouldn't put anything here and just left alone.  Now the problem is a bit more complicated because we don't want to do damage for retrieving information stored there.  You must contact the technical assistance of the manufacturer of the computer service and know how to undo what you did on the recovery Partition.  We know nothing about them were leaving recovery or processes as they vary from a constructor (and have been created by the manufacturer and not Microsoft) and we don't have access to this information.  Only they can help you recover recovery information (you probably somehow helping move everything you moved it).

  • External DELL GP60N USB DVDRW drive will not play DVD

    Hello

I have a new Dell Inspiron 3531 with Windows 8.1.  The laptop came with an internal DVD/CD drive, so I bought a Dell GP60N external USB DVD - RW Drive.

When I put a DVD in the drive that the laptop recognizes it is there, but will not play regardless of how I set the automatic run settings.

I also searched drivers see if mine was outdated, but not found to contribute to the situation.

Any help from the community will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Heath

Default Windows can not decode DVD video, so you will need some reading software...

Usually, when you buy a DVD player/burner, you get with it, WinDVD or PowerDVD software for video playback and some other software if the device may also burn discs... UNLESS the material was an OEM version, which normally does not come in a box like the commercial version, then you normally get nothing...

So for now the easiest thing is to connect the drive to the laptop and then insert a DVD into the drive. Go to the Explorer, and then right-click the DVD by selecting drive open. You should now see two folders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. This indicates that Windows sees DVD disc material correctly and that he also sees the files in the DVD itself... Nothing wrong up to now...

Now, go into the VIDEO_TS directory where you should see a bunch of files, a bunch of. BUP. IFO and. VOB files. The. VOB files contain the video code CSS while the. IFO files contain orders for DVD to play appropriate video channel (flow). Normally, the. IFO and. VOB files will have an affair with some reading software and double click on the VIDEO_TS. VOB file will launch the player. If the player is associated. Can manage files IFO CSS encoded DVD, playback will begin and you will hear the sound and see some video... If you have a drive associated with these types of files, usually autoplay will kick and the reading starts automatically on insertion of the DVD in your drive... But if you double-click and there is no software associated with this file extension, so there is no software associated with these files and you can't watch your DVD...

But as mentioned, Windows does not capable by default DVD playback software, so you will need to install a DVD playback software... One solution is to contact the company (Dell?) who provided the external DVD player and ask them why you do not have the comercial DVD reading and DVD software of engraving that you expected would come with your hardware, they can predict it you if she should have come in your package, or they will tell you where you can download it from...

If they won't help or they say it was hardware OEM and that it did not come with software, then consider using VLC to play your videos, as the software is free open source of quality. This page explains how to use VLC to play DVDs in Windows 8... You can also use ImgBurn for burning CDs and DVDs (not blindly just click on the buttons of large download on this web site because they are advertisements for * you need not, simply the page to the section of news where you have a download link)...

  • Computer sees DVDRW plug-and - play, but said the driver could not be loaded. Won't see external DVD - RW external USB.

I have a computer with XP on it and want to upgrade to Win 7 pro (I have the original disc), but the computer does not accept any DVDRW I put in and my DVD/CD requires a DVDRW DRIVE until I install Win 7.  Any ideas? I need to do this because all my other computers have been upgraded to win 10 and I HATE it.  I've seen an improvement when I added the memory of the computer.  Win 10 must be memory intensive.

HD/DVD/cdrom, etc need update drivers, go to his site mfg, USB, is controlled & through the pc

Chipset, storage controllers use different software drivers. If you run hardware based on intel, can & if its SATA.

you need to the matrix, or accelerator software (RAID) or IDE, they are different. In addition, 99% of all the dvd/cdrom, etc.

are updates of the firmware, which gains its mfg canvas.

If all the above is ok, go in run or cmd, type: diskmgmt.msc in msc, locate the hardware, L.click on this subject, go to actions, all,.

    Select 'enable '.

  • Satellite A100 CD/DVD drive is not listed in the BIOS or Device Manager

    1. the original drive does not work. After inserting a disc shines the light of the drive and it runs - but nothing else.
A little investigation shows no optical drive listed in the BIOS or Device Manager (naturally).

    2. perhaps I would reinsert the disc, but I can't find any instructions on internet about this disc removal/replacement.
    Or in the operating manual.

Can someone direct me to these instructions?

    Thank you very much

S manual is not the same thing as maintenance manuals. Please note that this is not the same and the exact description on laptop procedure disassembly is only authorized service.

Anyway, as far as I know the optical disk drive is fixed with a screw and it can be removed from the underside. The screw is placed near the cover of exact memory on the optical drive. Not on side cooling event, but on the other side.

Be careful because everything you do is at your own risk.

  • VM wants to drive consolidation, but no snapshots are listed in the Snapshot Manager

The name of the drive listed under 'change settings' does, that the disk is a snapshot, however.

How to solve this problem properly?

    Best regards, Lars.

The two option should work fine even when the virtual machine is running. According to the snapshot sizes, deleting it may take a while so please be patient.

PS: A thought if the Basic virtual disk is thin and put into operation, make sure that you have enough of free disk space on the data store before starting the deletion/consolidation!

  • Can I install a DVD - RW on my Satellite Pro A10 drive?

I want to upgrade the drive of DVD ROM/CD-RW (SD-R2412) on my Satellite Pro A10 on a DVD - RW drive, so I can burn DVDs. I bought a Toshiba (TS-L632) DVDRW drive, because it's exactly the same size and shape, such as the existing DVD ROM drive, the same voltage (5v) and the same connector.

However, after installation and setting on the laptop, it is not recognized as being installed that is to say, there is no sign of it at all on the computer. Is it because the laptop is completely unable to support a DVD - RW disc, or have I bought an incompatible device? If so, is there a compatible DVDRW drive?

The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error"

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you!

    Simon.

I guess the discs not all burnt gift? t working in this player.
I know that not all media work on all players. In the manual, you should find a list of tested and good work supports.
I recommend that you test the CD and DVD that is recommended in the user's manual.
