DvdRW drive appears as a CDRom drive

Hi, I can not play! Its a crisis geek!

On and off the power for a while Ive had trouble with my games, my player sometimes seem to recognize DVD, othertimes not. So it makes me wonder if it's the drive itself must be replaced. Its a laptop and the notoriously theyre garbage huh.

When I go to my computer but and click on the drive, in bold it says it's a DVD RW drive but lighter characters below it says it's a CD player that makes me wonder if this is a problem with the computers guts o.O

Ive tried this stupid thing of fixit from microsoft without success and reflected on toshibas website to see if theres drivers or owt must install but they think there is no need weird o.O drivers. In Manager device ive tried reinstalling drivers and things, but that has not worked. Digitized for the bad guys, but other than a dubious cookie, nothing came.

Ive google this problem to death and have not found a solution yet:(, beaucoup de gens dans le même bateau également.) Maybe a nice person here can help ^. ^

I am running windows 7 (not supplied with the computer, so no question of upgrade) and it is a toshiba satellite l650 laptop thingy.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, even if you could not be a solution.<>

Hello

The drive could be worn or have other hardware issues although there are other possible
causes that need to be checked.

Check with Toshiba Support, online documentation and drivers, diagnostics, and
Ask in their forums of known issues with your model.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and the

If it worked about two weeks ago, you could try a restore point to return the parameters of your system they had previously, by using the system restore. It is in the startmenu, all programs, system, SYSTEM RESTORE tools. Choose a point of older and not the most recent. Alternatively, right - click the icon for your drive and make sure that the recording tab is there, and that registration is enabled on the computer. You will also find it better if you record at a slower speed and not the faster if you want to avoid reading errors. "THE BEST THING TO DO IN THIS WORLD IS A WRONG ANSWER! "I"DON'T"WINDOWS...". »

  • External DELL GP60N USB DVDRW drive will not play DVD

    Hello

I have a new Dell Inspiron 3531 with Windows 8.1.  The laptop came with an internal DVD/CD drive, so I bought a Dell GP60N external USB DVD - RW Drive.

When I put a DVD in the drive that the laptop recognizes it is there, but will not play regardless of how I set the automatic run settings.

I also searched drivers see if mine was outdated, but not found to contribute to the situation.

Any help from the community will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Heath

Default Windows can not decode DVD video, so you will need some reading software...

Usually, when you buy a DVD player/burner, you get with it, WinDVD or PowerDVD software for video playback and some other software if the device may also burn discs... UNLESS the material was an OEM version, which normally does not come in a box like the commercial version, then you normally get nothing...

So for now the easiest thing is to connect the drive to the laptop and then insert a DVD into the drive. Go to the Explorer, and then right-click the DVD by selecting drive open. You should now see two folders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. This indicates that Windows sees DVD disc material correctly and that he also sees the files in the DVD itself... Nothing wrong up to now...

Now, go into the VIDEO_TS directory where you should see a bunch of files, a bunch of. BUP. IFO and. VOB files. The. VOB files contain the video code CSS while the. IFO files contain orders for DVD to play appropriate video channel (flow). Normally, the. IFO and. VOB files will have an affair with some reading software and double click on the VIDEO_TS. VOB file will launch the player. If the player is associated. Can manage files IFO CSS encoded DVD, playback will begin and you will hear the sound and see some video... If you have a drive associated with these types of files, usually autoplay will kick and the reading starts automatically on insertion of the DVD in your drive... But if you double-click and there is no software associated with this file extension, so there is no software associated with these files and you can't watch your DVD...

But as mentioned, Windows does not capable by default DVD playback software, so you will need to install a DVD playback software... One solution is to contact the company (Dell?) who provided the external DVD player and ask them why you do not have the comercial DVD reading and DVD software of engraving that you expected would come with your hardware, they can predict it you if she should have come in your package, or they will tell you where you can download it from...

If they won't help or they say it was hardware OEM and that it did not come with software, then consider using VLC to play your videos, as the software is free open source of quality. This page explains how to use VLC to play DVDs in Windows 8... You can also use ImgBurn for burning CDs and DVDs (not blindly just click on the buttons of large download on this web site because they are advertisements for * you need not, simply the page to the section of news where you have a download link)...

  • Can I install a DVD - RW on my Satellite Pro A10 drive?

I want to upgrade the drive of DVD ROM/CD-RW (SD-R2412) on my Satellite Pro A10 on a DVD - RW drive, so I can burn DVDs. I bought a Toshiba (TS-L632) DVDRW drive, because it's exactly the same size and shape, such as the existing DVD ROM drive, the same voltage (5v) and the same connector.

However, after installation and setting on the laptop, it is not recognized as being installed that is to say, there is no sign of it at all on the computer. Is it because the laptop is completely unable to support a DVD - RW disc, or have I bought an incompatible device? If so, is there a compatible DVDRW drive?

  • Equium A200-CD/DVD-RW does not

    Hi all

I've had this problem for a few months now and have read a number of similar problems on other forums, but I thought that I had just state my case to see if there were other possible solutions before you give in and buy an external.

MY laptop is a Satellite A200 - 26 d PSAE5. After several months of working perfectly my DVDRW drive - a pioneer K17A - ATA DVDRW - unresponsive. When all-optical meida is put in the drive, it will attempt to read - you can distinctly hear the disc turns, but it is audibly different sleek over-Rev noise it makes when it was working properly. It is very stop / start, and the player has often been a dull sound when it tries to read. The best way I can describe it is like trying to rev an engine; Looks like the drive is not to achieve the speed appropriate to read, if it makes no sense.

The drive won't recognize commercial DVD, blank DVDs or old burned DVDs. It also will not recognize blank CDs or self burnt - although oddly, I sometimes get to play commercial CD - but only after a very long time and a lot of the deaf stop / start drive-spinning and noises. When I try to open the DVD player via the Control Panel, it is obviously trying to read, but finally the drawer just opens and the dialog box 'Please insert a disc into drive F:' appears.

The Device Manager lists the CD as a xair NGL6RKXM SCSI CdRom device.

I've updated the BIOS, I seem to have the latest firmware and all drivers are up to date. I also tried to remove the filters from the registry under the direction of microsoft support: However, when I tried that I discovered that my register lists only the UpperFilters - the LowerFilters is not there at all. Should I go ahead and remove the UpperFilter in any way, or it will cause more problems that it is likely to solve?

[Edit to add] Under Vista Home Premium, incidentally.

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Very strange but it seems that your CD/DVD drive is faulty and must be replaced. You did a lot of things like the update of the BIOS, remove upper and lower filters and therefore the only one that I think that the reader.

You must replace it with another that is listed in the user manual. Another scratch disk could not work, but if you choose one in the manual it will work because it has the same pinout, etc..

Good luck and if you have any other questions please let us know.

.. and the drive does not, of course...

.. How can I solve this problem... ??

(MASTER, SLAVE, CS, switch..?) Select... ??)
(bios and firmware are latest witch I find on the web)

.. or is that someone who have any other DVDRW drive
with the work in this Notepad...?

    Hello

As far as I know a? IDE1 Errora? means that the STRANGE is not compatible with this unit. Probably the pin assignment is not the right one. Problem is that every ODD will not work on all laptops models and before buy you one, it is important to know what chances are compatible.

Otherwise, your unit is old enough (about 6 years) and I really donâ? believe that you will be able to find any compatible DVD burner. In my opinion, only way is to use an external and connect using the PCMCIA card. Sorry, but I na? t see another possibility. Maybe someone else has the best recommendation.

    Hi krzysiekrk,

To be honest, your ad is a little hard to understand and I don t understand why you installed another wireless network card.
I think that the new WLAN draft N card is not compatible with your laptop so it boot doesn t. In addition, you can use project t N if you have only 2 antennas WLAN. N project requires 3 antennas.

Then ask a service provider authorized in your country if guys can order a new WLAN card compatible.

A few weeks ago, I replaced the card of wireless network from a notebook of s from a friend and it was Intel 3945ABG card too. This wireless network card is still available and it will be produced so it s not one end of product life.
