  I use my phone T - Mobile G2 Google (HTC) as an occasionally mobile access point. I did it with my K-1 as well as my X ThinKpad Ideapad - 60. Work as well as your location permits. When I'm in a place that ID would be "G4" it is very effective. No need for a separate device hotspot your phone does the same work.

  Just got my Macbook Pro 13 "retina, tried to use airdrop to send pictures of my I Phone 6 running IOS 9.2.1 with no luck."

  My phone I can not see my macbook with Airdrop, nor I can pair it via bluetooth.

  Tips for sending items

  If you do not see the recipient in the AirDrop window or sheet:

  • Make sure that the two devices have on AirDrop and are less than 30 feet (9 meters) on the other.
  • If you send to an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch:
    • Your Mac must be a 2012 model or newer with OS X Yosemite or later.
    • The iOS must have Personal Hotspot device disabled in settings > cellular.
  • If you send a Mac:
    • If the receiver Mac uses OS X Mavericks, Cougar or Lion, then open a window AirDrop: choose go > AirDrop in the menu in the Finder bar.
    • If the receiver Mac is a 2012 model or, click "Don't see you looking?" in the drop window or the sharing of the sending of the Mac spreadsheet. Then click on "Search for an older Mac."
    • Know if the Mac has "block all incoming connections" enabled in the privacy & security preferences. A Mac does not receive items using AirDrop if this setting is enabled.
  • If AirDrop on the receiving device is set up to receive points of contacts only, make sure that the two devices are connected to iCloud. Also make sure the associated e-mail address or phone number to your identifier Apple is in the Contacts application on the receiving device.

• SIMM Mobile 4G: locked out!

  My HP Chromebook 14 just bought (with capacity of 4G) arrived yesterday and is working fine. So of course I had to try something that immediately work! (Well, not the works, in fact.)  The purchasing group includes 2 years of free access to the 4G mobile network (limited to 250 MB/month). Everything seemed to be activated from the moment that I inserted the SIMM card into the slot of edge designated. So far so good.

  But then THIS happened...

  By reading the configuration information for the access to the Mobile 4 G network, it is recommended to create a PIN code to restrict access to authorized users only. As I often work in public spaces, it seemed like a prudent idea. I started the process of setting up in accordance with the instructions and reached the point where it asks for the PIN code. Naturally, I assumed that it was a reference to a NEW PIN that I would. Not the case, unfortunately.

  Instead, the requested pin was one thing apparently had already been set. As a result, I received an error message that I had entered a wrong PIN code, and I had two remaining trials before the SIMM card would be disabled. I'm not a fool, so I immediately called the number of customer support for the mobile phone service provider (T-Mobile) and explained my situation. I had assumed that they will simply assign some kind of reset code or something... ANYTHING to help me to re - activate my mobile network access.  Unfortunately, it is not so simple.

  The T-Mobile person asked me my phone T-Mobile number, there is none which is a. I explained that I try to add a PIN code for my access to the 4G mobile computer and had been locked. She asked the model number of my T-Mobile Hotspot device. I explained that there is nothing, I don't have a from T-Mobile SIMM card that I inserted into my 4G compatible computer. Is not consistent with all existing concepts in its cognitive domain. After a few frantic seaching of its database, she suggested that I try to use the identification number of the PIN SIMM card. I have it done, but which also failed. I was now down to one remaining attempt. She said then that the PIN is apparently managed by the computer system, and that I need to contact the manufacturer of the computer.

  I then went through the help of the online system for the Chromebook, examined the activation process of the 4 G mobile wireless service and I tried a second number on the SIMM card. Not good. Card locked SIMM. This time the error message says I have 10 attempts to enter the right PIN code remaining, after what the SIMM card will be DEACTIVATED permanently!

  And then... here we are. Please PLEASE indicate how I do. There is no information in the user guide that is specific to the T-Mobile as the operator of mobile telephony (only Verizon and I've never heard of the other.)  T-Mobile seems to be clueless as to what I'm trying to do. I don't know who/what that is to control the security of the PIN, and I lose my line of life on every attempt segments. Help!

  Thanks for this info. After reading your reply and receive additional information from HP and Google, it was obvious that the question was indeed with the SIM card. more specifically, with the "pre-activation" of the factory. Once again, I contacted T-Mobile and reiterated the problem. This time around the Rep. from T-Mobile has determined that the SIM card only had never been set up correctly for acitivation once I received it with my Chromebook. A quick transfer to their Tech Support Dept. and we not to not process fairly quickly. It turns out that the SIM card number and the number of "PUK" were essentially what was needed after all. With this information and a right down here undocumented "phone number" assigned to the SIM card, I had everything that I needed to complete the activation process on the T-Mobile website. I guess that the representative of the customer service for my first call (without success) was not clear on what I need to do. But the good news is that I am running.

• Impossible to get T-Mobile SIM to work in Windows 8

  I have Windows 8 is installed.  The laptop is a Sony VAIO VPCSB with built in SIM card reader, allowing 3 G/GPRS connectivity.   I have a T-Mobile Data only SIM card active, worked in Windows 7, and still works in a Huawei T-Mobile Hotspot device.
  8 WIndows recognizes the device (Sony uses Gobi 2000), and I have the ability to switch mobile data power via the PC settings.
  
  When I try to connect, Windows 8 by default, Verizon network settings.   I try to change it to T-Mobile by entering a string of network (t - mobile.co.uk), the username and the password * (provided by T-Mobile).   None of these parameters work.
  I work in it, so reasonably tech savvy.  I would like to know if there is a dorsal location (e.g. Control Panel) instead of Windows 8 PC installation interface to define the parameters of my T-Mobile APN?
  Similarly, confused why Windows 8 is failing to Verizon.  In Windows 7, it automatically recognized as a T-Mobile SIM card.

  When other devices attempt to connect to my access point mobile (Thinkpad is Windows 10 3rd gen x 1 carbon), it shows 'failed to connect to the network'': search DHCP failed. "

  (1) where exactly you receive the error message "no network access? It's on the phone or the computer?
  (2) how do you have enabled connection with devices Wi - Fi hotspot?
  (3) you have problems connecting Wi - Fi hotspot on the computer?

  (4) you receive the same error message with all devices?

  My Genesis 3 iPad was connected to the net one night and the next morning was not.  Check my AirPort Extreme shows current update and Internet connection on all other devices (10).  The wi - fi address is listed and shows the 'excellent' connection, but the orange dot feared to the internet.  I restarted the airport and iPad so much that reset the network on the iPad.

  The iPad connects to the network through the personal hotspot on my phone.

  The point of 'orange' would indicate that there is a problem with the connection to the Internet from the router or the modem.

  I suggest that you try to perform a new round of full power of your network hardware to try to solve this problem. Check out the following Tip of an airport users for more details on how to do it. Note: You can skip the part to accomplish a 'default' reset on the base station to this point. Please post back your results.

  Apple does not recommend using the PPTP protocol for secure and private communication.

  iOS 10 and macOS Sierra intentionally delete a VPN profile PPTP connections when a user upgrades from their device.

  It's just for the personal hotspot. It is not reveal your password to other wifi wifi that connect. The personal hotspot, it must show for you to know what password to use to connect to it with other devices.
