My PC stopped to download files.

My PC stopped to download files. Yesterday it worked OK. I restarted my PC and it helps to doesn´t. I have Windows 8 and HP Pavilion 23 and Norton 360.

I can´t download files of webmail services.

Hello

Have you tried to use the system restore, to return to an earlier era, when everything worked well?

Just try it, see if it helps, if not, just reset your system!

Thank you

  • How to restore the ability to download files and documents?

End of last week I noticed that I had accumulated a large number of cookies. I decided to clear the cookies and history by selecting «Clear history of Firefox closing» I deleted cookies and closed Firefox. Firefox has started closing but stop responding before the end of the fence. I forced Firefox to close (Mac OS X 10.6.8) then restarted Firefox which has always failed. I unchecked 'Clear history of Firefox closing' and Firefox resumed normal operation except that I am now unable to download files and documents from any web site. I tried another browser (Safari 5.1.5) and downloads are normal.

    Any help much appreciated.

  • Is there a way to block Firefox closes so that the download files? I don't want to leave the program accidentally and cut the current downloads.

Basically, I was downloading a game play Agent and I accidentally leave Firefox. This stopped the download and I had no right to take it back, forcing me to spend $30 to buy the NEW game even to get a new file transfer. Is it possible to add a warning box to Firefox that says something like: "are you sure you want to exit Firefox? Download the file"when I try to quit smoking?

Not tested, but according to http://www.phil.im/2011/04/27/how-to-enable-firefox-download-warning-on-quit/ set browser.download.manager.quitBehavior to 2 in the: config

  • Download Manager: is is possible to cancel a download and not delete the partially downloaded file?

There seems to be no way to change the default behavior for the Cancel button the Download Manager.

I would like to be able to break a download link without losing what I have downloaded so far.

At the moment to achieve, I stop the download, move the files, and then cancel the download. It of messy and got to make mistakes in the past.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

You have changed the investigation once more.

    • "If you state categorically that Firefox will remove always download files when you press the Cancel button, I will mark this topic resolved."

    That seems unlikely,
and in a certain extent depend on system set-up, and for example if you download to a temporary directory, regardless of what Firefox does or not doing the files will be probably deleted a date closer.

The above is another question, but again, you have asked initially

    • "I would like to be able to break a download link without losing what I have downloaded so far."

    Sometimes, it is possible.

  • HP Envy M6 - cannot download files

I have a new HP Envy M6 computer laptop running 64-bit Windows 8.  I tried to download (Adobe Reader and Firefox for example) files through Internet Explorer 10 and he did not finish the download.  When I select the download of the site form, it starts the download process and runs for a few seconds, but stops about 65% to 98% and never complete.  More when you try to watch a video on You Tube it starts the process of download plays the video and then stops about 20 seconds in and never finished.  I disabled my antivirus and get the same result.  Regarding the Internet connection, I have another computer running Win7 with the same anit virus and have no problem to download files and watching videos You Tube.  I tried the cable connections and wireless but get the same result on both.  As a side, note the Windows Update tool has no problem downloading Windows updates and install them.  Suggestions on how Win8 and IE 10 manage downloads differently than Win7 because the only difference between my two laptops is the hardware and OS?

    Hello

  • I can't read my downloaded files... they appear in an unreadable code.

When I download files over the internet to open in mirosoft Word, this box appears and asks me to choose an encoding that make us the file readable. but none off the work of coding. What can I do to stop what is happening while I can read files downloaded without the box asking encode or at least which code to use.

    Thanks :)

It is possible that the person who sent these emails is encrypt (or failing to read them before attaching them to the e-mail address).  Check with that person.  If this goes with more than one person (or if you are just downloading them off a website), maybe they use a newer version of Word and the file is saved to ad a .docx instead of a .doc and you cannot downloaded the patch to upgrade the earlier version to be able to read these files. Here's where to find the upgrade so that your version of Word can read these file types: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=941B3470-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en.  It is also possible that the type of file, the files you download can not be opened with Word - what are the types of files (extensions) of these files that you download that does not open in Word?  Can you provide me with some links to sites where you download these files from and what file you chose to download so I can do it myself and see if I have the same problem?  It would be a great help.

Maybe downloaded files are compressed and must be decompressed to get the real document.  These have usually a .zip file extension, but there are many other options as well.

Try to send a file .doc that you know that you can read and open yourself and then try to open it.  If it opens, there is nothing wrong with the file to .doc file associations (in fact, proved that if you are able to open a .doc in your Documents folder - but it also proves the files can be transmitted on the internet and always be open normally).

When asked to choose and coding or decoding option, what are all the options that are provided?  This only happens with the .doc files or it happens with other files types as well (and if so, what other types of files)?

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

I can't open downloaded files, a program that I paid for, among other things. I got the message, "choose what file you want to open the program with". On May 9, I downloaded files will be open, after that no. Please note: I ran a scan of viruses & spyware in depth and made that a retailer computer as well, we do not find the remark of a Trojan or viruses. What is a "worm"... If so, how to remove? This wonderful Vista doesn't let me system restore to May 9, (thank you Bill Gates).

  • Cannot download files. the computer restarts seconds for download

Whenever I'm trying to download a file or program from my laptop stops and restarts.

I'm coming to the window which asks you to run save or cancel the file, click Run, a second window appears with the download percentage, about three seconds, my computer turns off and restarts. Desperately need help that my hard drive has just been replaced and I need to download programs such as adobe etc.

    I appreciate any help given.

    See you soon,.

    Dave

    Hi Dave,.

1 during how long have you had the problem?
    2. don't you make changes to your computer before the problem?
    3. what web browser do you use to download files?

Follow these steps and check if the problem persists.

    Step 1:

Start your computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.

    Step 2:

If the problem does not occur in safe mode with network, then there must be a conflict of software of third party causing the problem to occur, this is why I suggest that you start your computer in a clean boot State.

Note: Follow step 7 to your computer as usual.

  • Computer blocks all programs when you try to save a new file or Internet download file, help!

Hi, recently my PC toshiba laptop windows 7 I have had for many years has had random some software problems, he started with just my internet browser (google chrome) is not able to download any file to any site (when I tried it would just crash before you open the my computer window) then google chrome stopped opening altogether without crashing...

I managed to use internet explore for firefox that does not crash, but still won't let me download files directly etc, but now is not just to download the internet browser, in each program here I can't "Save" all new open files without it crashing (and save do not) or download whatever it doesn't matter where (programs crashing and not being able to save being the main issue that makes me absolutely anything to do now). I tried a via command prompt sfc scan, reboot / system restore point etc, nothing has worked.

This happened to someone else before and is the only way to solve this problem for just wipe my computer and reinstall windows or what? Any help appreciated, am panic en masse here!
So to sum up, I can not open/download the files on line or save or save as / export things all new file I open in ANY program, without blemish and crashing, but the computer itself still works and there is no virus detected etc...

To solve your problem requires an expert trained to sit in front of the machine. It is not realistic to do that via a forum. I see these options for you:

    • Ask a computer-savvy friend to help you.
    • Have the device repaired.
    • Perform a destructive factory restore, using the hidden disk partition.

If you choose the third option, then you must back up all personal files, then check first on another machine if the files are readable.
